It is now and forever more a network drive.. network drives are not like external hdd. you can only access it by network.. it is not accessible by USB.
If you want to store data on it. yes you can.. should you?? hmmm probably not unless you have backups elsewhere.. if you have both files and backups on the TC that would mean you are one hard disk failure from total loss of your files.
TC has no means to backup files stored on it.. nor can Time Machine backup the TC.. so it is designed for TM backup and nothing else.
Use it to store files at your peril.

Is there a way to connect an old Sunflower iMac (OSX 10.4.11) to a new Time Capsule? It used to work with old Airport Extreme network, run from a intel iMac with updates thru Mavericks but now seems to only allow WEP encryption instead of WPA and can't connect to Time Capsule. Airport Extreme Base was controllable from either computer up through Snow Leopard (I didn't do any of the Lion upgrades). Then when I upgraded to Mavericks I lost the ability to use Airport Utility with this hardware on the Sunflower but could still connect wirelessly to network without any problems. But now with the Time Capsule upgrade the Sunflower is blocked from network by a dialogue that requests ony WEP password, not WPA pwd used by Time Capsule. Neither can I use the old airport extreme base to extend the time capsule network since I can't input the correct password/encryption approach to join it. Is there a work around? Would a newer but old Airport Express be able to extend network to Sunflower? Or maybe a third party wireless (such as Netgear, Dlink, etc) that has browser type control rather than special utility?
Another question--before I used MAC addresses to control who could access network. Now on Time Capsule I don't see anything about this--so is it true now that the only access control is via WPA2 pwd now (which appears to be the encryption pwd and not the time capsule pwd)?

I can’t claim to completely grasp the issue(s) you’re describing, but the underlying problem is presumably your iMac’s obsolete AirPort card. Whatever the case, an obvious (if not particularly helpful) answer to your stated question would be to connect your iMac with an ethernet cable, using powerline adapters as an alternative if you don’t want to have wire running all over the place.
My still fully functional clamshell iBook, with an original AirPort card, connects wirelessly to my 4th Generation TC network by means of a cheap 802.11b/g/n USB Wi-Fi adapter. This might be an option for you too.

This might help you out.
To run a scenario exactly once in a specific time every day / schedule a adapter
Note:You will need to have the authorizations of the user group SAP_XI_ADMINISTRATOR with the role modify.
Go to Runtime Workbench -> Component Monitoring -> Communication Channel Monitoring
Locate the link Availability Time Planning on the top right corner of your Communication Channel Monitoring page.
In your case, the requirement is to schedule the Sender file adapter daily once at 12:00 at midnight.
In Availability Time Planning, choose the Availability time as daily and say create.
Provide the details like the time 12:00
Then select the communication channel , goto the Communication Channels tab and filter and add the respective channel (File Sender).
Once all the above has been done 'Save' the changes.

How can I control a driver using Matlab?

For a lab project I have to program in matlab a driver (esp300 by Newport - http://www.newport.com/store/product.aspx?id=3229) that commands a motorized stage of the same company. The interface is GPIB. I rather control the driver using only matlab, but if i can't - i wan't to use Labview as a connector between the two. any idea how can i do one of the above? I've got no idea where to start from. I'll thank to any given advise.

What is the analysis that ou need to perform. The resources that are available to you from within LV is very complete!

HT5706 I have not used my apple tv in a few years, and just got it out of the bag. I connected it up, and it cannot set date, time. it also does not interact with the remote. Could it be as simple as a new batter is needed for remote?

I'm unable to get to iOS devices to connect via Bluetooth for Keynote control. It's described above under the heading "Using Keynote Remote with Bluetooth". Am I missing something? I see the article mentions iOS8 so I know it's been updated recently. I also see that this hasn't worked in the past. Curious that the articles suggests it can be done now.

Just talked to Bose and learned the solution.
Reset the speaker ....hold down the bluetooth button until you hear a tone. Delete the Bose in the Bluetooth Device directory on the iPad. When it is automatically rediscovered it will connect.

How can I control external devices using a touch screen with a standalone LabVIEW app

For my senior design project my group and I created a hybrid extended range vehicle with 90 Li+ Batteries thats charged by a 15 kW generator and/or that is also being charged by a 5 kW fuel cell. Currently, our system is capable of measuring voltages off of the batteries and displaying them on a laptop via LabVIEW. To process this data, we are using a cRIO FPGA. What we would like to do now is have a touch screen for the driver to choose what power source charges the batteries as well as monitor a pressure reading coming from the fuel cell tank.
What sort of small touch screens allow for LabVIEW to be uploaded on and used for controls?
Does a cRIO have the capability to power such a screen and handle the data transfer from the fuel sensor and switching relays (for switching on and off powersources)?
Do I need an additional license for creating standalone applications and how would i go about creating a standalone app?

NI does sell Touch Panel computers that can be used to control LabVIEW applications. You can find more information here: HMIs and Industrial Touch Panels and here: LabVIEW Real-Time and Touch Panel Deployment and Replication Resources. Our 6-inch touch panel computers run Windows CE, so programming on them is a little different than programming on a full Windows OS. You may find the Getting Started with the LabVIEW Touch Panel Module useful.
You can use third party devices with the LabVIEW Touch Panel Module, although you will need a deployment license for it. More information can be found in the getting started guide.
If you were able to send the cRIO information over a network (which from your description sounds unlikely), you may be able to use a smartphone to control your application. More information can be found on our Community Smartphone Group.

If you were using the 6-inch touch panels, they require 18 to 32 VDC (the fuse becomes an open circuit if input level exceeds 33 VDC). The data transfer from the switching relays can be monitored and changed with the touch panel.

If you went the touch panel route, you would need to purchase the LabVIEW Touch Panel Module, and a touch panel. The NI touch panels come with a touch panel deployment license. Can I control the POSIDYN SDS 5000 driver with LabView?

I am working on the automation of some high power syringe pumps, the proposed driver is Stoeber POSIDYN SDS 5000 driver (http://www.stoeber.de/TDE/G5/DOKUV56D/442277_01_PHB_SDS_5000_en.pdf).
Can this driver be controlled via the NI CAN CompactDAQ (http://www.ni.com/white-paper/12316/en/)?.
I don't understand the level of integration of the NI CAN interface with generic CAN drivers. In concrete, I want to know if I will need custom binary/ASCII commands or if the NI XNET CAN API will provide the necessary function blocks. If anyone has an example VI that would be great.

Thanks for using National Instruments forums! Answering your question, yes it is possible to control the POSIDYN 5000 with the XNET driver, just to let you know XNET is the software layer that allows specific hardware to execute CAN commands (as well as LIN and FlexRay) and performs all the communication between NI hardware and your application. For a better understanding you can check the CAN Loopback Test.vi within the Find Examples section in LabVIEW (Help --> Find Examples…).
Have you already thought about which HW platform you will use? Do you need portability with more than 1 POSIDYN driver or your system will just be mounted in a bench? If you can provide me with this information I will be glad to help you with a recommended hardware platform that fits your needs.
If you plan to use cDAQ the modules that you can use are the 9861 and 9862.
