27" iMac, Burning Windows 7 ISO Bootdisk

I have a 27" iMac purchased back in Dec 18, 2009.
It has Snow Leopard 10.6.6.
I've purchased Windows 7 online and downloaded its file (ISO format) in order to install Bootcamp.
I used Apple's own burning software that came with the iMac.
I simpy right-clicked the downloaded file and burnt it to the blank disk.
The problem is that the iMac didn't recognized the disk while doing the Bootcamp installation.
I'm suspecting that I didn't burn the disk in ISO format properly.
Is there any other way to burn the disk in ISO format with the iMac's built-in software?
Thanks

It is ESSENTIAL when burning a Windows ISO using Disk Utility that Reduced 2x Burn Speed is used for the disc to work. Some will seem to work and boot, install, but result in bad result otherwise.
Open Disk Utility. Go to Help menu. Type ISO and look for how to mount, burn and use Disk Utility.

  • I can't partition with burned Windows 7 iso

    Hi all,
I am lost: I bought Windows 7 online. Downloaded it and burned the iso file to a DVD. Then I went to the Boot Camp Assistant and downloaded the Windows support stuff. Took ages and worked after 3 trials. Then I selected the size (50GB), inserted the DVD and clicked install. But the DVD is not recognized. It tells me "The installer disc could not be found. Insert your Windows installer disc and wait a few seconds for the disc to be recognized." So I burned another disk thinking that burning error. Nope. So saved on USB stick and downloaded rEFIt (as this seems to be a good solution too). Well that worked, I could boot with Windows via the USB stick and install until... I needed to select the partition.... BUT, if I cannot partition without a DVD and I cannot boot via USB because I have no partition.... then what should I do?? Can I partition without installing Windows? I tried Disk Utility, but to no avail. Sigh. I am tired, this takes for ages, I can't figure it out and I paid EUR200 for this darned Windows download. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks to whoever can assist me here...
    Chris

    Hi YMcD,
When I try to partition via the Disk Utility, I get this message:
"Partition failed with the error: Couldn’t modify partition map because file system verification failed."
And I get this error whether I do it in FAT or MAC OS.

    2. Drag ISO to Program
    3. Edit ISO Files
    4. Start Burning
Download and run DVD Creator Std program here:

  • I tried to burn windows 7 Iso using disk utility for more than 3 time with the minimum speed, but all the three times I got error saying "disk burn failed unable to verify"?

I have tried with three different blank DVDs but all got the same error message. But after I got the error message when I reinsert the DVD I can see the ISO in the DVD. So I went a head with the installation but the installation stops just after it starts. I have even tried burning the disk at 2X speed.

It sounds like your optical drive may be dirty. The lens probably needs a cleaning. You can go to somewhere like Best Buy and pick up a cleaning kit.

  • How to enable Windows 7 ISO file for iMac Computer

    ** extremely urgent
    Dear Sir or Madam:
Due to my misunderstanding,an Apple Customer has purchased Windows 7 ISO file for his iMac Computer.
But, the fact is that Apple only allows this on computers that support booting from an USB drive (aka they don't have optical drive).
Though, whether i can adopt an non-recommendation folk prescription, i.e."http://www.codez4mac.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=212&t=61921"?
Are there any risk there ?
    Please correct me ASAP.
    Thank you !

    Great news, thanks!
Not  sure KB codes on what? Burning an ISO to DVD? Pretty Simple in Disk Utility, or the free Burn App...

Meanwhile, are there any risks there?
I doubt any "risk", only very likely thing is that OSX updates will likely rewrite the supported Macs file & if you had need to install Win7 again from ISO, then you'd need to edit that file again.
I think there was mention of this by Mike Breeden today, but the site is not available for the first time in years right now...

Could Apple Developers keep an eye on this?
Between you, me, & the woodwork, I doubt they're interested.

  • 27" iMac Bootcamp Windows 7 Pro and second 27" iMac as external screen

I have a 27" iMac with Windows 7 Pro 64bit on it and it runs great. I would like to have a second 27" screen, unfortunately Apple made a mistake with the design of the Cinema Display, it's not the same size or has the same looks as an iMac. So i would like to buy a second 27" iMac just to use it as an external monitor. I know this works on OSx, but i don't use OSx, just Windows 7 pro.
Does any of you know that this works? Have you tested it yourself? How does it work?
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Did you follow these steps?
    Insert a blank disc.
    Start Disk Utility.
From the File menu, choose Open Disk Image and select the ISO to be burned.
In the list of volumes, you will now see an item representing the ISO file. Select it.
Click the Burn button and follow the instructions.

no sound on imac with windows 7 running boot camp

Just to elaborate further; if the Windows OS has been previously installed, go to the bootcamp assistant in OSX (found in applications/utilities). There you will have the option to burn a disk or  download the needed drivers to a USB flash drive. After getting the necessary files downloaded/burned proceed and start your Windows partition, run the installer from the disc. This should solve the problem.
Did you mean to reply to the poster who has the problem?
    Because that's not me.

  • Windows 8 ISO

I downloaded Windows 8 ISO 64 bit. I copied that to a DVD.  When bootcamp runs it does not accept the ISO as installable media? Am I to unpack the ISO then copy that to the DVD? thank You.

You have to burn to DVD media at the slowest (2x) burn speed.
Parallels 7 now has preliminary support for 8. And VMs are also more forgiving, plus can work with it in ISO format
    Disk Utility is the issue.
Also  when you do install, hopefully not on your Lion boot drive, pull Lion and any other drive other than where Lion goes. Any of the drive bays 1-3 are fine for Windows.

Hopefully this will help you.  Try placing your iPad in recovery mode again.  You may have to try this a few times.

If you don't want Boot Camp and you don't want a virtual machine, go buy a Windows computer.
Both Boot Camped Windows and Windows running in a virtual machine work well. Your issues are because of your lack of knowledge or understanding, not because Boot Camp and virtual machines are poor products. Universities, large and small businesses, home users, etc. use virtual machines to run their operating systems.
Your statements about Boot Camp and Parallels are not the experience of thousands of users.
Either find someone who is knowledgeable about running Windows on Apple computers to help you or buy a Windows computer. Believe me, if you find a way to install only Windows on your Apple computer without using Boot Camp or a virtual machine you will have more problems than what you have already experienced.

  • How do i set a peer to peer network between my iMac and windows machines?

I want to set up a peer to peer network between my iMac and Windows based computers in my house.  I also want it to a wireless set up.  Mostly being done to share videos, pictures, and music. Any insight would be appreciated.

I'm trying to connect my MacBook Pro to Wifi using internet sharing
    Why?
Just connect the MacBook to the same internet as your iMac.
    MacBook > Wi-Fi router > Internet.
You are connected to the internet with your iMac.
    iMac > Wi-Fi router > Internet
Why do you want to go MacBook (via Wi-Fi)  > iMac > Wi-Fi router > Internet?

  • Where can i get a FRESH Windows 8 iso? (LEGALLY)

    Hey guys,
I wanted to know where you can get a Windows 8 iso, NOT a upgrade iso.
I already did some googleing, and http://www.redmondpie.com/download-windows-8-iso-x86-x64-file-directly-from-micr osoft/ this website seemed to tell me you can get it by downloading a file from Microsoft and just entering a product Key.
However, for this i think you actually need a Windows 7 , because it is an UPGRADE iso, not a fresh system-builder iso.
So i was wondering, where can you get a fresh Windows 8 iso to install on my MacBook, which doesn't have Windows 7?
Or can you use the iso described in remondpie and use it to install Windows 8?
    Thanks!
PS According to many people, the new MAcBook Air (2013) which i have does not work really well when you install windows with a CD. That's why i'm trying to use a USB and iso to download it.

iso is just a 100% bit by bit image of an optical disc
there are millions of free programs which will make an iso file out of an optical disc in a few minuts

It sounds like you destroyed your boot partition and the recovery partition.  Depending on it's age, your MacBook Air might be able to do a net boot.  Plug and ethernet connection into it and attempt to boot.  If it has the right firmware, it will find a net boot configuration on the net and boot that.  Then it will give you a Recovery Partition like display and allow you to reinstall the OS X version that came with it.... assuming that it was Lion or ML.  If your computer came with Snow Leopard, then even the net boot won't work.
At that point you need a bootable USB Key, or an external DVD drive AND a Snow Leopard installation DVD.
An Apple Store, if there is one nearby, MAY be able to get you going again.  However, whatever is on the SSD now will be toast too.

  • Cannot connect from iMac to Windows Home Server 2011 shares

    Hi guys,
I am having dificulties connecting from iMac to Windows Home Server 2011 shares.
First of all it takes so long time to discover the share in iMac, which it's called "mediaserver". After finding it i cannot connect and gives "Connection Failed: message. If i choose "Connect As.." option i wait some time and then pops out with an error: "There was a problem connecting to the server "mediaserver". The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
If i try from Finder -> Go -> Connect to Server ... write in Server Address : smb://mediaserver it fails. But if i write the IP address, like: smb://192.168.1.42 it works after couple of tries. If i try now to Make an Alias for the share i get "The operation can't be completed. An unexpected error occurred (eror code -8060)."
Has anyone experienced these problems ? I have updated to Mac OS X version 10.7.3. Could that be the problem ?
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,
    Simi

You need to reinstall the updated WHS connector for Mac.  You should then be able to access your shares on WHS 2011.
The problem I'm having is I can't get Time Capsule to recognize the WHS 2011 mapped folders that show up on the desktop as a drive, so Backup won't work.
