27" iMac: distance between stand base and screen glass?

I searched high and low, but can't find this info anywhere..
On photos of new 27" iMacs, it looks like the front bottom aluminum part of the screen (with Apple logo on it), became narrower comparing to 24" iMacs. Meaning that screen itself is probably positioned lower than on 24" iMacs (which would be terrific)
I wonder if any of 27" iMac owners could be so kind to put their display in vertical 90 degree position and measure the distance between stand base (the top of the table) and the screen glass? I have attached the picture of the measurement I need.

Thanks in advance!

I think the answer is 16.3cm. It's the same distance as on the new 21.5" iMacs. I already started a topic myself, asking the same question:

  • What's the difference between XI basis and regular basis?

I am an SAP basis admin for years.
Now my corp starts to use XI.
What is the difference between XI basis and regular basis if there is any?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
No difference... Basis is Basis (Technical consultant)... According to me its just terminology changed. i.e. SAP Administrator instead of SAP basis.
For XI you may need to additionally control the Java stack administartion along with ABAP stack.
Please go thourgh the below link to know about SAP NetWeaver Administrator, then you may compare with regular Basis activities

  • Why there are fog between the display and the glass?

Something weird happened to my iMac. I think there is a gap between the display and the glass at the front, right? Today I found some "fog" on the inner part of the glass. I think there are some water vapor in the gap and it condense to form some fog on the glass. I once tried to used a Hairdryer and blew some worm air on to the glass at the front. It works, the fog disappeared. However, after a while, the fog appears again! What can I do????

According to one Mac genius I spoke with, the cleaning kit is used by repair techs at the Apple Store. Not sure if they sell it since the inside of the glass display is not user-serviceable. The kit I was told has, among other items, a plastic film that peels off the last bit of debris from inside the glass. Check out this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frfzESC-ahM

  • Relationship between Install base and functional location

    Hi ,
I have been trying to establish way to find realtionship between Install base ( in PM module ) and fucntional locations. I have tried everything from Debugging to SQL trace to find out this realtionship but it does not surface. I am talking about the details that one gets in transaction IB52 under Functional Location and equpiment colum. There are function modules which look promising to read IBIN and IBIB tables but they always ask for HANDLE. I have not understood what this HANDLE is and how to use it. IS THERE  WAY TO USE THIS FUNCTION MODULES TO READ IBASE AND ITS ASSOCIATED LINKS ?

    Hi,
I don't think we can link a functional location to a sales order in standard sap.

  • Extend the distance between Mac Pro and display

I'd like to know how to extend the distance between my Mac Pro and its Cinema Display. The Mac is early 2008 as is its display I think. I need a distance of about 5metres.

yes-get a DVI Dual Link Extension cable M/F or M/M. I think you can get 'em around 25 feet max. then you'd need a gender changer, maybe......
depends what you want to pay, though.*cough* monoprice*cough*

  • Gap between stainless band and the glass

    Hi
My new iPhone 4 has a gap between the stainless band and front glass. Where the headphone jack is. The gap is around 0.5 mm and I can stick a paper in there. Is this normal?
I'm thinking of returning my iPhone and get a replacement if possible.

I've pretty much got the same thing. All four corners of my back glass have the slightest of a gap. You can really only see it when held up to a bright light. I can only slip receipt paper in there. Regular paper is too thick. I've had the phone a little over a week now and it's a week 41 build. I've considered exchanging it (the home button also isn't quite flush) but everything works and nothing seems to glitch so I'm leery of getting one with a worse problem. I've still got a couple weeks to exchange for new so I'll see what happens. Far as the slight gap being normal, probably not, but many seem to have it. If it gets any bigger it's going back for sure.

  • Satellite P500-1D6 - Small bug between cover plate and screen.

    Hi
I have a small bug (in Dutch: "donderbeestje") between the protective glass and the actual screen.
Where I bought the laptop they yell me that they can't do anything about it and this is not under warranty of Toshiba.
For me however, this should be under warranty of Toshiba.
The screen with it's upper layers should be firmly closed so that no foreign objects can come in between.
So, my question is if this is under warranty or if not, what can I do to get this thing out of there?
    Kind regards,
    Pascal.

    Hey,
Regarding such hardware related problems you should contact an official authorized service provider. The guys can repair notebooks under warrant for free if its a warranty case. Furthermore they can give you an exact if its normal or hardware problem.
Here its only an user to user forum so nobody can give you an exact answer but a full list of all ASPs you can find here:

  • New iMac Can't See HD and screen goes black then grey then black..etc.

Hi I've got a new 20" Alu iMac and it was working fine for the past 3 weeks. All of a sudden this morning starting it up the screen went completely grey then after a while the apple logo came on (I thought it was eventually starting) then it went completely black (this is normal just before the progress bar jumps in) but this time it didn't! , the screen just went to grey again and the cycle started again and kept going on like this for an hour. I tried starting up from the disk the iMac came with but under disk repair i could not see the HD and trying to reformat the HD it was just named 'Media'. When selecting the drive to format an error came up saying explain it could not be formatted in the selected format!!! There is only 2 options to format the drive.. Mac OS Standard and Unix.. Both did not work. Any suggestions? Thanks

Contact Apple Service, iMac Service or Apple's Express Lane. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you're eligible for onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine. It's not clear if that applies under the 90-day warranty.

  • Using DVI, distance between the Mini and the Monitor?

I'm in the process of setting up an Intel MacMini to be used in conjunction with an LCD TV (with a DVI input) to be used for a continuously-running Keynote presentation in a public place.
I am currently looking to get a 37" LCD Television (the largest size that will fit in the available space). It has yet to be determined where the Mac Mini will be located in relation to the display.
Are there distance -- or other -- limitations I need to be concerned about?

There is considerable difference in quality between VGA and DVI, with DVI giving a sharper image with better defined color and saturation. Much depends on the actual display itself as to whether the differences are very noticeable, but in general terms, it's often as marked as night and day.
As an example, I have a user who has an NEC 1760NX display, hooked up to a mini with a VGA cable. He's had the monitor for a couple of years, always connected via a VGA cable. Last week I replaced the VGA cable with a 6 foot DVI, and as soon as he switched the system on he called me to thank me for giving him a new monitor!
It would be expected that VGA would be less good, even if only because in order to function, a digital signal is converted to analog, pushed down the cable, and then reconverted to digital in the monitor. As would be expected, there is always something lost in the translation! DVI is, on the other hand, digital all the way.
Incidentally, that is also why DVI would not degrade as much over distance as VGA. With DVI all you really have to worry about is the loading of the cable reducing voltage below the threshold of the monitor, or electrical interference allowing spurious alteration to the flow of 1s and 0s. Otherwise, with a digital signal, if it's present at all at the input of the monitor it is exactly what was sent at the output of the system. With VGA, there are far more complex issues, and cable length can affect the signal in far more subtle ways. Capacitive loading can, for example, alter the color balance or luminance of the signal while resistive loading can add noise.
Of the two, DVI is the better choice, and least likely to be adversely affected by distance - assuming good quality cabling of course.

  • Gaps between chrome bezel and screen

I just noticed that I have 2 gaps between the chrome bezel and the screen of the phone. It's not noticeable in bright light, like when I'm outside, but when I get a call or message at night I notice the light from the phone coming through the two gaps. Is there anything I can do? Will the warranty cover this? I know it is only two small gaps, but it just really bothers me knowing that there is a problem with my iPhone.

I have been through 7 Iphone 3G's and if that is your only issue than my advice is to leave it alone. Out of all the phones, I have still been unable to recieve a phone in perfect condition. The one I have now was out of a brand new box and still has very minor light leakage and a few pieces of dust under the screen. The dust is only noticable in direct sunlight. So just to give you a warning if its a problem that you don't notice that often then just let it be. If its a problem that bugs you then exchange it, but that doesn't mean the next phone won't have the same problem. I think all 7 phones I have received has had some sort of light leakage. Good luck!!

  • Screen flashes between battery level and screen saver

    Hi
When I charge my iPhone up in my new iH8 alarm clock I get the "switch to airplane mode" message - fair enough. But once its been charging a few minutes the screen comes on by itself and then flashes between the image of the battery and the screen background image. It also makes an annoying click too... This flashing seems to go on indefinitely.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers
    Jimmy

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If this is the first generation Apple TV, then unfortunately it sounds like the unit has failed. You might try removing all the cables for a few minutes and then powering it back up, however even should this prove successful, the Apple TV may well do the same thing again shortly after.

  • Light shining through black cover between earphone hole and screen.

Has anyone had the issue where there is a line in between the screen and earphone hole, which is part of the black plastic covering, but light shines through?
I took my wifes iPhone back today and exchanged it, it seems that it was a manufacturing defect, probably occurred during the cooling of the plastic mold for the face, which made it thinner than it should have been, hence allowing the light from the edge of the screen connector to seep through the black plastic.
Anyone have any input? Would be very interesting to hear what someone else thinks.
I know this is a somewhat silly reason to exchange an iPhone, but to be honest, the iPhone is not just a technological device, but it is also a social device that is based on it's appearance, so we felt that the appearance was flawed, which I think is a valid point, especially when you feel the flaw is due to manufacturing defect.

The exchange went flawlessly, just had to wait for a Genius to become available, took a little over an hour. This had to be because of a manufacturers defect, now we have two perfect iPhones, well except for some of the service problems, but I would give it up for anything.
Now I just have to see what I can do about moving to europe, hope they can activate it so that I can use it there, but doubtful!

  • Gap between plastic base and pressed metal panel

I've just noticed that the seems to be a gap between the plastic base panel and the pressed metal panel containing the keyboard, in the top left corner. This gap widens when the lid is closed, but lightly squeezing the corner with the lid closed closes the gap until the lid is opened again.
