27 inch how many hertz?

I'm wondering if the new imac 27 has 120 hertz refresh rate?
thanks

Well, some interesting theories have been espoused for this question. The fact of the matter is that the issue of CRT versus LCD (with cold cathode backlighting) versus LCD (with LED backlighting) is irrelevant to the original question of Refresh Rate. The "Refresh Rate" on Any monitor is the rate at which the screen image is generated by the illumination of successive pixels on the screen, the image being "painted", as it were, from the upper left hand corner of the screen across to the right and successively down the screen row by row of pixels, until one complete cycle of screen image drawing has occurred.
There are two basic forms of this screen drawing, for those technically interested: "interlaced" and "progressive". On an Interlaced display the rows of pixels are illuminated by first illuminating all the odd numbered rows of pixels on the screen and then proceeding to illuminating all the even numbered rows of pixels. Older monitors used this method. On a Progressive display (the more modern and currently used standard for HD) the rows of pixels are illuminated successively: 1, 2, 3 ,4... in order from top to bottom of the screen.
The refresh rate for most LCD monitors is 60 Hz. The recent exception to this is high-end HD LCD monitors, some of which now utilize a 120 Hz or 240 Hz refresh rate. The advantage of this higher Hz rate over 60 Hz is that fast moving images on the screen show less lag or ghosting.
Hopefully this resolves some of the technical issues raised in this forum

  • The 27 inch iMac and the thunderbolt display how many hertz

    i want to play 3d games so i ask this question.

    Please navigate on this page to Support - Tech Specs - then find the model you're interested in. That is where you will find specifications for each model.
    You also need to be more specific when asking a question, 27' iMacs come in a variety of configurations with different GPUs and CPUs, RAM etc so  you need to specify which iMac, which GPU and which CPU you're most interested in. Also you need to state in which OS you plan to run the games OS X or MS Windows. If you plan to run Windows then you need to specifiy how you will be loading Windows Boot Camp or virtualization.
    In other words there are many factors to take into account.
    You can also look at the variety of benchmark sites that test that kind of thing. Use Google to find them.

  • How many pts in an inch?

    I'm trying to figure out the height of my line segment. It has a 1.5 stroke point. How many inches is that?

    Kiss,
    1 inch = 72 points, 1 point = 1/72 ~ 0.013888... inch.
    1.5 point  00 1.5/72 ~ 0.0208 inch.

  • How many usb ports (if any) does the 30 inch display have?

    I am getting the new mac pro I know apple is going to kill the 30 inch display but as they have not done so yet I was wandering how many usb ports does it have?

    Hi macnewcomer22,
    Instead of buying the Apple 30" Cinema Display, for not much more you could buy the NEC Multisync 3090WQXi, which incorporates later technology and was awarded Best in Show at MacWorld.
    The Apple 30" is a good display, but the technology is about 5 years old, and later models from other manufacturers, noticeably NEC, have surpassed it:
    http://macperformanceguide.com/RecommendedDisplays.html
    http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/monitors/242010/nec-multisync-lcd3090wqxi
    I purchased the standard Multisync version, without the Spectraview II software, in July 2009, and I have found it to be excellent in all respects:
    http://www.nec-display-solutions.co.uk/p/uk/en/products/details/dp/Products/LCD/ Current/LCD-3090WQXi/LCD-3090WQXi.xhtml?e=e1s1
    Although most resellers only stock the 3090WQXi in black, it is also available in a silver finish, which looks great alongside a Mac Pro.

  • How many external displays does the 15 inch support?

    I spend 90% of my time at a desk developing, using multiple monitors.  My current Windows system can support up to 4 displays, normally I run with 3.  I was wondering how many external displays one can hook up to the 2.3GHz Macbook Pro.  I need at least 3 displays while still having a thunderbold for external drives and eithernet.  Does the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter allow splitting the single to two different monitors?  Other then the Thunderbolt display, is there a way to get multiple monitors out of one Thunderbolt port?

    From http://support.apple.com/kb/SP690 -> "Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colors".
    But there may be ways of driving three monitors - maybe someone with a Retina Display model will jump in. I know that on my 15" 2011 model, I can only drive two Apple Thunderbolt Displays.
    Good luck,

  • How many hard drives should i get to get the most out of premiere on my laptop?

    Hello,
    I have a 15 inch Macbook Pro Late 2013 with 512gb ssd, 16gb ram and 2gb 750m graphics card. I was wondering how many external hard drives i should get to get the best results in Premiere Pro and After Effects. I'm thinking about buying a smallish portable hard drive for cache and another for media. How many hard drives do you think i should get, what size they should be and how it would improve Premiere and After Effects please.
    Thanks Heaps

    I agree with JFP...above.  But if you have a USB3 interface on that MacBook, you can also try using it as I have on my PC laptop
    For simplicity on my PC laptop I would just go with a fast USB3 flash drive for the project and media files.  I have several PNY Turbo USB3 128GB units and have recently edited a 1-hour long three AVCHD camera shoot (not multicam mode) with perfect ease.  That way you do not have power cables from hard drives.  I suspect that the new SanDisk Extreme Pro will match those speeds below but at a much higher cost ($140 versus $50).  Never believe the manufacturers speed claims here are real achievable results on the PNY.
    That read speed is better than most hard disk drives as it does not fall off as the storage device gets full, and the access time is significantly better despite significant USB overhead.

  • How many years can I expect to get out of a MBP?

    Hi All,
    I'm considering an Apple laptop. Being a graphics professional, I think I want to go with the MPB so I can run the Adobe CS4 Suite (et. al.) while away from my desk.
    How many years of useful life should I expect to get (or plan to get) from a laptop? Barring any hardware failures or accidents, can I expect it to reasonably run CS4(+), OS10.5(+), font manager, etc., and connect to the internet etc. for say, 4-5 years? What's reasonable for a laptop's useful life?
    Would I want to purchase the fastest processor(s) and biggest HD in the MBP? I'm thinking the 15-inch 2.66Ghz, 250G 7200rpm HD. Heck, my G5 only has 150G on its HD, and the dual 2Ghz non-Intel chip. Purchased in '04, it seems to still have quite a bit of life to it.
    Thanks in advance for your advice--D
    Or, should I consider something less powerful that can augment my desktop? I just want to be able to get away from the office every once in a while and still get some work done.

    {quote}
    Leopard requires at least a PowerPC G4 processor at 867MHz or faster, meaning G4 towers released prior to 2001 (and select models into 2002) don't meet the spec.
    {quote}
    Ah, I see. Yep, got it in early 2000.
    {quote}
    One question there, though - your G4 desktop was upgradeable, but did you upgrade yours? Add anything to those expansion bays? Put in a larger HDD? If you answer no to those questions, consider the fact that you may not ever upgrade a desktop you purchase in the future.
    {quote}
    Excellent point. I never upgraded the chip or anything, and eventually decided not to update/add to any of the memory (HD or RAM) because I felt I'd get better bang for my buck with a newer/faster machine altogether. I recently resurrected it to hook it up to our new TV to see if we could watch downloaded movies on it, which is what generated that whole conversation about it only being able to handle Tiger, as it's got 10.2 and needs to be updated to interface adequately with the Big Bad Internet World.
    My G5 has become sluggish lately, and although I added another 2G of RAM it doesn't seem to affect it much. Back on topic, I wonder if I get the laptop will I grow tired of it or will it grow too slow in less time than the current desktop...
    As eww so rightly points out in his reply, I guess I have to decide if I want the latest-greatest on my laptop, or can I live with using versions that the computer can handle. And, do I shell it out for the fastest/baddest, or will I get the same longevity (or lack) with the middle of the road machine.
    For my professional software, my strategy has been to upgrade every other time, unless there's some new feature that will make my life absolutely heavenly. It seems like Adobe is slinging out the new versions faster than my budget can handle. Last summer I finally updated to the latest from Office v.X. And the only reason I did that is because my clients have been sending me text files in the latest Win versions of Office (docx and pptx) that I couldn't open. (And it's not good customer service to ask them to save them as txt files and resend.)
    Typical scenario:
    On my G5 I'm still using Tiger because I'm too cheap to buy the upgrade. (Every time I upgrade my OS I lose something--printer drivers, favorite features in my browser, font manager compatibility, whatever, there's always something I else need to upgrade besides the OS, always.)
    Although I'm running Adobe CS3, I have the CS4 suite. CS4 will run on 10.4.11, but the font manager's auto-activation doohickey (which I would have to buy) for CS4's apps only works with OS10.5. So things potentially could get expensive. The only reason I have CS4 is because I bought CS3 a week before CS4 came out. The font manager (Suitcase) is really a lifesaver, and therefore it's pretty necessary. STOP the madness! LOL! (There's another font manager out there that is pretty good and cheaper, so that may be an option.)
    Okay, I'm babbling now. I appreciate your wise words to guide my thinking. Time to get nose to grindstone so I can afford that nifty laptop!
    Thanks--d

  • How to get how many lines a formatted string has

    ih, is there a way to get by formula code the object's number of lines once it has been formatted by the format editor checking the the Can Grow check with 0 as maximum number of lines?
    The Can Grow check can offer you to enter the Maximum number of lines the object can grow...so...the object's number of lines somewhere is stored in order to confront it with the number one has entered in Maximum number of lines' input box.
    thank you in advance

    Hello,
    No or maybe, the problem is is when you select 0 it's unlimited, CR simply fills the first line and continues on until no more test to display. Then it determines how much space is left over for the rest of the report sections and so on...
    Possibly you could use the String Length function and divide by the page width:
    numbervar mynumbervar;
    mynumbervar :=  2 / tonumber(Length ({Command2.ROW_UNIT_NAME}));
    2 is the width of the field object in inches and then you also have to determine how many characters per inch the font is going to use.
    There are 1440 twips per inch and if your font is set to 10 then it's something like 1440/10 ( although you need to determine how many characters per inch the font really uses. This can vary depending on the font, most are not fixed width so it's only an estimate..
    Anyways, why do you need to know? CR will simply set the space required?
    Or are you wanting to have the same space all the time and try to determine what that is? If so then you'll also have to set it globally because the format will be evaluated for each time it prints.

  • How many GBs are free in a 17" CD2 160HD when you buy it?

    A 160Hd comes formatted and with the OS X installed... I'd like to know how many GBs are free to put your things there. I guess it's maybe something like 120GB?
    Thank you!

    Cletus,
    Can someone explain where the other GB's go? My 15 inch came the same way... however, even doing System Profile, does not indicate it is a 160 GB hard drive. It reports as indicated a 149.5 etc.
    In brief, when you see HD capacity advertised as 60GB, 80GB, 100GB etc, that's the marketing way where they take "decimal" road and base 1GB as being equal to 1,000,000,000 bytes. This is true for all HD manufacturers and computer manufacturers.
    Once upon a time, computer professionals noticed that 1,024 bytes (binary) was very nearly equal to 1,000 (decimal) and started using the prefix "kilo" to mean 1,024. That worked well enough for a decade or two because everybody who talked kilobytes knew that the term implied 1,024 bytes. But, almost overnight a much more numerous "everybody" bought computers, and the trade computer professionals needed to talk to physicists and engineers and even to ordinary people, most of whom know that a kilometer is 1,000 meters and a kilogram is 1,000 grams.
    Often when two or more people begin discussing storage capacity, some will refer to binary values and others will refer to decimal values without making distinction between the two. This has caused much confusion in the past (and still does). In an effort to dispatch this confusion, all major disc drive manufacturers use decimal values when discussing storage capacity.
    Some simple arithmetic will convert the advertised (decimal) capacity to the actual (binary) capacity:
    1KB = 1,024 bytes
    1MB = 1,024 x 1,024 bytes = 1,048,576 bytes
    1GB = 1,024 x 1,024 x 1,024 bytes = 1,073,741,824 bytes
    Therefore, in your specific case:
    160GB (decimal) = 160 ÷ 1.073741824 = 149.01161193848 GB (binary or actual capacity)
    Rounded off to two decimal points = 149.01 GB
    I hope this clarifies it for you and explains the reasons for the discrepancy.

  • Where to find how many emails sent today

    where do I find how many emails were sent from my account today? I'm blocked from sending email, by [email protected], saying I've exceeded my daily limit, but as far as I know, I haven't. Recently changed my passwords too, so I'd be surprised if I was hacked.

    A digital image does not have dpi (dots per inch), since it does not have any physical dimension, only a pixel size. So you can find out about dpi only by printing, for in the print dialogue you can specify a size in inches or cm. If you look at the pixel size of an image (width and height, given in pixels) and know the physical dimensions you want to have when printed, you can compute the necessary dpi by dividing the width in pixels by the width in inches.

    Can I connect more than 2 DVI or HDMI displays?
    Mac Pro supports a total of two DVI or HDMI displays when connected via the built-in HDMI port or using the Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. To connect additional DVI displays, use an active DVI adaptersuch as the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter. You can connect up to six active adapter DVI displays. This requires a powered USB hub since Mac Pro offers four USB ports and you will need six to connect them all.
    However, that article says:
    Six Apple Thunderbolt Displays (27-inch), Apple LED Cinema Displays (27-inch), or third-party Mini DisplayPort displays.
    So it appears you can with active dual-link DVI adopter or monitors with a display/min displayport connection.

  • How Many Times Can I Use The Same Serial Number For Adobe Creative Suite 4?

    I have design standard and was told I can use the same serial number on multiple computers. How many time can I use it? And say I install it on the maximum number of computers, but get a new computer, can I uninstall it on one of the old computers and use it on the new one? And can I use the programs on both computers simultaneously or do I have to use them one at a time?

    Fred Tech wrote:
    Broadly speaking, it depends on the type of license you have.
    Specifically, if you have a single license then officially, you should only install it once on one computer.
    Practically, (unless it has changed with CS4) you maybe able to install it on more then one computer, BUT can only run one instance of the software at a time. You can not run more then one instance of the software concurrently; i.e. you can't run Dreamweaver on Computer 1 and Photoshop on Computer 2. That would be two instances, and is not permitted.
    This is my understanding. I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong
    Fred
    Sorry Fred you are wrong.
    If you have a single license you can install it on as many computers as you like. you can only activate the suite on two computers at anyone time. Work and Home or as many of us do it Desktop and Laptop. You can not use the computers simultaneously. You only have 20 activation/deactivations so use them wisely. Student versions only have one activation. You can not break up the suite installs the suite is considered one application.
