27" LED Cinema Display Blacking out for no apparent reason.

I have looked on line for a clue to whats going on.  It seems to be happening to many people and there seem to be no easy fix.  This is a monitor purchased less than 18 months ago. I don't currently have the money to dish out another $1000.  Is this the life expectancy of this monitor?

My 27 inch MC007LL/A A1316 LED Display 12,000 JP Y , from HARDOFF ! a recycle shop there was no plug so the guy gave me a square Power Mac Plug so I got them to cut it by 30% ,then a week after I found a  a plug cord ,I reckon it was the missing plug and I reckon that the owner gave up on it ,because of this problem ,last month suddenly power went out ,no power in the recharger , no broken parts,it had been on sleep since Sep 2014 and even a power outage last month when I had to flip up the stopper,it still worked , it is a power problem, because I waited 30 minutes and plugged it in and it works again .Why ? I spent hours reading all these posts on power failures ,The power unit makes heat and even a Fan can not get rid of it so ,in order that the power unit does not burn out it will shut down simple as that. Do you think that such a Power unit will keep on going with  power and keep cool  even a Fan will get hot from going full speed to cool something so shut down cool off until it is cool and then return to the Factory settings. Heat is the biggest killer of Electronic parts if they get clogged up with micro dust they cause mini shorts and water vapour ,condensation, humidity,if you notice there are grills for letting out heat but also let in dust from garments that stick to static parts and water from condensation that also cause shorts on the motherboard and defects in parts ,remember the G5 Taiwan caps that Apple managed to hide? I have taken apart 2 x 20 inch G5 s junk and found dust caked on them

I am having this same issue. Im not sure if this is the cause but I think this is keeping PowerDVD Ultra 11 from playing back Bluray under Windows 7 / Bootcamp

  • Satellite L755D - sound keeps cutting out for no apparent reason

I posted this in another thread, but thought I might need to start one of my own since a solution had been found by that person and I am still having a problem. So, about three weeks ago the sound on my computer began just cutting out for no apparent reason.  It happened while I was watching streaming video and I tried updating all my software stuff (like flash and java and things of that nature).  It still continued to happen and now it was happening with streaming video, with youtube type videos, and with mp3s stored on this computer. I discovered that if I went to the control panel and clicked on sound/hardware and then clicked on the tab for recording, the sound immediately came back.  So, I've been doing this for the past couple of weeks and it is extremely annoying! In another thread on ths forum, the individual discovered that the Malwarebytes program had been the culprit and I was happy to have an answer, except that I had installed security software last week which removed MB from my computer.  And I continue to have the issue even today.  I clicked on the link in the other thread to update my drivers and I continue to have the issue. Can anyone help?  It's making me crazy! Thanks in advance.

OK - I'm getting this as well. Satellite L750-1E5. It was fine for ages and this started happening about a month ago now. - tried updating the drivers - System restored back to when it worked, not working This led me to think it was a hardware problem. My gut feeling however was that it was some sort of driver problem as sound would cutout after about 2 minutes, but would often come back if I started playing another song or something. Reinstalled Windows 7(64 bit) and played through an entire song with no issues(using Windows 7 sound drivers). Ran Windows update and the issue has come back.  Installed the proper Conexant driver, but issue still occurring. I believe a Windows update has caused this issue.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
In the Console window, look under DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION for crash or panic reports. A crash report has a name ending in ".crash" and a panic report has a name ending in ".panic" Select the most recent report from each subcategory and post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Less than 3 yr old iMac, Intel duo core powering out for no apparent reason

I'm fairly new to Apple and have had no problems with my iMac until recently. I upgraded to Leopard when it came out and it's been smooth sailing until now. Recently, whether I'm doing mail, talking on Skype, working with photos in iPhoto, out of the blue the screen will turn black and the iMac essentially powers down. Pushing the power button does nothing and I have had to unplug the iMac and wait 45 min. to an hour before plugging back in and it powers up right away. I'm looking for ideas as to why this is occurring and it's happening more frequently. I am also looking for ideas on how to get myself powered up more quickly than what I have been doing. Open to any suggestions. Thanks!

iMac powered down again without warning again. Have an appt. Sunday at Genius Bar but any insight before the appt. would be helpful. Here's the logs from today:

  • Photoshop CC tools not accessible & drop down menu commands greyed out for no apparent reason.

Hi... I've been having this issue with Photoshop CC recently where in the middle of editing an image file all of a sudden none of the tools work.  When looking at the drop down menus most of the commands are greyed out, except for a few.  When looking at the image box, the filename at the top is greyed out.  I can't even choose to quit photoshop as this option is greyed out. I can do things like toggle through the "Change Screen Mode" (F Key), and when i select a tool it's icon appears on the screen, but I can't apply it.  After about 5 minutes it seems to correct itself & I can go on working with the image.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

Well, that could indicate a dialog box appearing somewhere in the background or off screen, not even necessarily from PS itself. Also of course check the option for the restore data and incremental saving. Perhaps you are just seeing that...

  • MY MAGIC MOUSE HAS CONKED OUT, FOR NO APPARENT REASON.  IS IT WORTH TAKING IT IN FOR ANALYSIS/REPAIR?

My Magic Mouse has stopped functioning.  Batteries are fresh, green light on, but the computer can't find it. Is it worth taking in for analysis and/or repair?

    Hello Angler42,
Yosemite has proved a problem for many people as far as the Magic mouse is concerned.  It appears to apply more often to older computers that have been upgraded.    Here is an Apple document which is worth studying and putting on file for future reference.  I can't commit to it solving your problem but let us know how you get on.

  • DISPLAY Blacks out sometimes

Most of the time when I sit back down at the computer desk my display black out for a second. The light turns of, but it comes right back on. Someties it does it several times before it stops. I know thta there is alot of static in my apartment. Does anybody know anything about this? If so, is there anything I can do to prevent this?. It is pretty annoying. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh yea, the display is a Starlogic

I have a Mac Pro, and a Mac Mini. I have owned tha Mac Mini for about two years. I have found the same issue with my mac mini. I do believe that it is normal, and it has something to do with the shared memory. I ran it for over a year as my main Mac, and I experienced the very same thing. I don't think it is anything to worry about, unless it happens over and over. My Mac Pro does it form time to time, although very very rare. It also could have something to do with the display, analog vs digital etc. I believe the digital signal experiences very short interrupts every so often, and that in my experience is normal

  • Wii to a led cinema display

    Hello all
I am in the process of migrating from dirty windows to mac.
I am wanting to get an apple led cinema display to use for everything
So before i splash the cash, does anyone know how to connect a wii (which uses either a scart lead, a LRV connection or a hdmi connection) to the LED Cinema Display.
I'm expecting to get a Mac Mini shortly afterwards, if that will help
Any and all ideas are welcome.
    Thanks in advance
    Ed

Well there is no direct way of connecting your ACD to your Wii but here is a possible workaround, which will cost you.

It works but it is very convenient.

    Hello Cate,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with AirPlay on your Apple TV.  I found a couple of resources I recommend for the issue you described.
If you are experiencing the issue when AirPlaying from from an iOS device, I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Troubleshooting performance issues with AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring" in the following article:

  • DVI Adapter for LED Cinema Display Mini DisplayPort?

Is there an adapter for use with the new LED Cinema display port? I expect the new Mini's to switch to the Mini DisplayPort, if there is a new Mini, but in the meantime ...
Now that everything is going black, glass and aluminum, when is Apple going to update:
    1) Keyboards to black keys?
    2) Mouse to black and/or aluminum?
    3) Mini, AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule to black & aluminum?
    4) Power Adapters, Airport Express, cables, etc. to black and/or aluminum?
    Finally a unified product line/look!

Actually after thinking about it, the immediate solution is likely a short DVI extension cord combined with the Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. I would prefer a small Apple adapter to ship with the display however, much in the same way as the DB-15 adapter shipped with the VGA version of the old LCD Studio Display, or at least make one for sale. Guess Apple is leaving this up to third parties as usual.
The Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter would not work in this case as it is a male (Mini DisplayPort) to female (DVI) adapter. The new 24" Cinema Display has a non-removable cable ending in a male (Mini DisplayPort). As a male plug will not connect to a male plug it will not work.
I am sure soon enough various third-parties like Gefen, Griffin, and Belkin will come up with suitable adapters which do have the right genders. It is somewhat disappointing Apple have not done this themselves as I am sure plenty of Mac Pro owners are also salivating over this new display.
Arguably, Apple are repeating the same mistake they made with the ACD (Apple Cinema Display) connector and making it much harder and more expensive to use their displays with non Apple computers. That is they should have stuck with a standard DisplayPort connector rather than the esoteric Mini DisplayPort.
I equally hope someone comes up with Mini DisplayPort to (big) DisplayPort adapters as well.
On a totally different topic, I was also surprised and disappointed Apple did not switch to 16:9 displays for these new products (they are all still 16:10). The rest of the industry has already started switching to 16:9 displays and the clear trend is that 16:10 is on its way out. Still, the black border of these Apple displays does very conveniently hide the blank pixels (when playing a 16:9 video).

  • HT1338 Today when connecting my MB Pro Retina Display to my 27" LED Cinema Display instead of mirroring (which worked fine in the past) both screens are black with a large arrow cursor. I'm unable to resolve this. Anyone have a similar experience?

Today when connecting my MB Pro Retina Display to my 27" LED Cinema Display instead of mirroring (which worked fine in the past) both screens are black with a large arrow cursor. I'm unable to resolve this. Anyone have a similar experience?

I think what may be your main issue here is that the 2011
server has the Intel integrated HD3000 and is is struggling
to run both a Thuderbolt display and a second monitor.
When looking at specs for Thunderbolt Display, it is stated
that the 2011 Mini Server can only support one.  Adding that
Dell monitor with 1920x1200 display may just be too many
pixels for the HD3000 to handle.
You may want to try setting the Dell to a lower resolution
to test the theory to see what happens.  It is however,
possible that any additional monitor when using the Thunderbolt
display may over tax the HD3000 graphics.
FWIW personally, I have been running a 2011 Mini Server w/ Thunderbolt
display for almost a year now without any issues.  However, I don't
    use a second monitor.
