2730 Classic message send tones

Hello all
My mother in law has a nokia 2730 classic. Everytime she sends a message it plays a sound. I have trawled through the settings but I can't seem to find how to disable it. Does anyone have any ideas how to turn\disable this.

go to profiles and make sure you scroll right down the list it may not be visible on the screen at first.

The message icon wont go away, and it looks like its being compressed in and out, over and over again. I do not have anything in outbox, inbox, sent, nothing, Deleted everything.
What is it?
And i can't send messages, and how can i get rid of it?

Hi, thank you for your help. Attached you can see a video of the display taken with a Black Berry (rename it as .3GP and open it with Windows media player). I tried everything but nothing happens, the strangest thing is that I cannot make a hard reset that I'm sure would help...any idea of what it could be?

Message sending tone

Hi guys,
When I sent a message with my old HTC It made a swishing noise to let me know it was SENT, can I do the same with my Z1. It lets me know when I receive one.

not with the preloaded messaging app, the way it works is that if your message was sent, you will not get a notification, if there was an error or it wasn't sent, then you will get a message that will say so, as for MMS you can get a notification when it was sent

Texting on nokia 2730 classic help

my nokia 2730 classic when texting only allows me to type in the name of the contact when sending a text, i would like to change this PERMANENTLY to only typing in the number of the person because it is so much easier. Can you please help? Thank You

Help needed to configure 2730 classic on AT&T

I've been speaking to Nokia and AT&T for two days trying to see if they could help me configure the new 2730 classic (bought in Asia) to work. It's on S40 and uses GSM data and packet data.
No configuration I could find via public forums has worked so far.
One AT&T agent said that since GPRS is not available on the 2730, they can't help me manually put it in. But Nokia agent said AT&T should be able to send GPRS settings to me by sms (while another AT&T agent kept saying that since it's not a AT&T phone, they can't help me).
In Malaysia, I'd buy a sim card for less than US$5, and wap and mms settings are sent to me within the hour of putting in the sim card, why is it so difficult to do the same in this country??
Is "global connectivity" a myth? Is this a conspiracy to make people a buy new phone wherever they move? Or is there some truth to the fact that the 2730 is just not compatible with the system in the US?

Back in Nov 2009 when I posted the original message, I called AT&T multiple times with the hope that someone there would bend the official policy and help me figure it out (since the phone was not bought from AT&T).
I ended up finding this:

Their customer service was stellar and it cost very little. They sent me the necessary configurations so I could get on the internet. I don't have 3G still, but at least I could check my email 95% of the time that I tried.
The bad news is, looks like "Configure my Phone" is no longer available. But maybe the parent company has other ways to helping consumers?
Honestly... for the technie entrepreneurs out there, someone could start making money out of breaking down these walls that American phone companies impose on us. These companies pay lip service to global connectivity -- which only translates to consumer brand loyalty.

2730 Classic - Graphical Smileys

Hi all,
Have just purchased a Nokia 2730 Classic, and using my T-Mobile contract sim in it.
When sending texts I can not find how to access the smileys? Graphical Smileys are on cos it says Yes in, Messaging, Message Settings, General Settings, Graphical Smileys
I thought you just had to go to the *+ key and hold that down to get to the punctuations, and then press it again to get to the smileys, like on other nokias, but they are not there?
Do I need to press something else, or switch something else on somewhere on the phone?
The smileys worked with this sim until this morning in my old phone, so it cant be a network or sim problem.
I have read through the user manual but it didnt solve this.

enter 'create message' index.choose 'message'. when cursor is in 'text' box choose 'options'. choose 'insert symbol' choose 'smiley' option. Bingo!!! took me ages to get this......I was totally baffled.

Problem with Nokia 2730 classic

I have problem with my Nokia 2730 Classic such as:
- Can't open Browser (can only use Web service like Facebook) & the download & messenger application in phone are corrupted.
- I can't use Music Player... every time i open song or video,it's shown that " Not Enough Memory"
- Messaging can't open just got a blank & still Error unless turn off & restart phone.
When i got this issue, i also tried to Restore factory & Restore All in setting function several times,but it just solved the Messaging to work normally & the others still got the problem.
I also try to update firmware from v8.xx (not remember) to V10.40 RM-578 but nothing better..
I really need help as soon as possible.

you need to empty the phones memory delete unwanted items such as images and text also clear up your message folders

Internet problems with Nokia 2730 classic

I recently bought a Nokia 2730 classic (on Orange PAYG). I'm able to browse most websites using the phone's browser. However, when I attempt to access Gmail, I get the following error: Secure connection not available. I get a similar error when trying to set up my email in the 'messages' section. I also get this error when I try to log in to Twitter - the common factor seems to be that they are https pages.
I'm also unable to use the Nokia Ovi store. Whenever I try to download anything, it will reach 35% before saying Download/Install Failed. I'm guessing that the two problems are related.
Does anyone know how I might be able to resolve either of these problems? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ovi store uses prefered access point wether you set it to be used or not.
Some operator have different access point for different purpose. Eg, prepaid customer have different access point and post paid customer have thier own too. And if you have unlimited data plan your sim may use different access point too.
One of my freind is using same model. When settings are configured mannually, network doesn't allow connection. Preferred access point which operator has sent, was meant for postpaid customer with data plan but my freind is using prepaid sim. So the problem is setting or ovi which is not smart enough to use defualt configuration, it tries to use preferred access point even it is set to 'no'
Better contact SP wether they can sent preferred access point for your need

Nokia 100 - Message Sending Failed

Newbie mobile user, with Nokia 100 on Orange PAYG in the UK.
Trying to send my first text message, the display shows "Message Sending Failed". Not sure if it's just me still finding my way round and not getting something quite right, or if there's something wrong and I need to change some setting or other?
I've looked around and it seems maybe it might be something to do with a message centre number? I saw an Orange support page here for Nokia

with some instructions, but I'm not seeing what they give in bold so maybe the Nokia 100 has different menu/options/settings, and it isn't included in the list to the right of the help topic. I've also scanned Nokia help topics but again haven't seen anything specific to the Nokia 100 for this error message. There also doesn't seem to be a comprehensive manual for the 100, only a fairly basic user guide -- for other models there's a lot more detail about errors and troubleshooting.
Any help appreciated... and please keep it simple

Messaging > Message settings (or msg. settings) > Text messages > Message centres
is what I don't seem to see.
From the main Menu I have these choices:
Messages, Contacts, Call register, Settings, Clock, Radio, Reminders, Games, Extras, Orange Plus.
I've been two ways from there...
(1) Messages, where the options are:
Create Message, Inbox, Sent Items, Drafts, Chat, Picture messages, Distribution lists , Screened messages, Delete messages, Message counter, Message settings, Service com. editor.
The only possibility from these (and in line with what you suggested) seems to be Message settings, and the options there are:
Templates, Smileys, Signature, Sending profile, Font size, Delivery Reports, Reply via same centre, Character support, No. screening.
It doesn't seem clear where to go next from these choices... from what I've seen from looking around, and again from what you've said, there should be an option for Text Messages, but there doesn't seem to be
The only reference to a "centre" anywhere is in the option for "Reply via same centre", but I don't know what that means!
(2) Settings (from the main menu), and the options there are:
Tone settings, Display settings, Profiles, Time settings, Call settings, Phone settings, Cost settings, Security settings, Go to settings, Restore factory settings.
Again I haven't been sure where to go but have explored a few and haven't found anything yet about Message Centre or specifically about text messages.

Trying to find a specific message alert tone.

Hi all,
Firstly, I'm a bit of a dunce when it comes to things remotely techy lol.
I recently had a E71 which unfortunatel was lost. I have replaced this with an N97.
However, my favorite message alert tone on the E71, which I'm pretty sure was "message alert tone 3" is not available on the N97, and frankly, I dont like any of the tones on the N97.
I have tried in vain to find it on the internet to download, but to no avail.
Can anybody help please.

u can copy your messege tone from ur nokia e71 for this u must have a third party app dr.jukka´s y-browser best for u coz it´s free... then serach the ringtone directory which can b the z: drive or it can b differ depend on the phone... on my e55 the location of tones are z:\data\sounds\digital. try it on ur mobile. after finding that u can send it through ur mobile bluetooth. for this u must have installed bluetooth utility which is also free from jukka´s.

2730 classic...not enough memory

i changed the battery of my 2730 classic, and my phone was restored to factory settings. some files on my memory card got corrupted, my messages dissapeared, and the worst of it all is that i cannot play music or videos. whenever i try to, i get a message 'not enough memory'. also, after customising my menu and shortcuts, it gets reset if i switch off the fone and switch it back on.

2730 classic- showing clock/ time during stand by ...

I've just bought new nokia 2730 classic, and I have a problem: when I don't use the phone, I am used to that there is time shown on display ( I had nokia before as well). Maybe it's just the habit of checking the time on the phone, but I'm sure it has to be shown somehow!!! I had different nokias previously and didn't have a problem with that...
I've tried display settings, there are two clocks on screensaver options, but as soon as the phone "goes to sleep", the display turns black, shows completely nothing, as if it's switched off.
Is there any way to set that the time will appear?

I get this messege "Too many applications open. Select application to close?" when i try to open each of this application Ovi Contacts, Messenger or IMs, Let say when i try to open Ovi Contacts, it show the message and let me to choose either to close IMs or Messenger(that i try to open before), so i assuming there some application will running at the background??
yea i just buy my phone and i didn't store anything at my phone memory (i never able to open the Nokia Map even once) and i had try to move everything to the card memory except the default thing, i had check the memory status , Free memory: 11.8; Used memory 9.2 (and it was like this when i buy the phone) ( It's suppose to be 30 MB internal dynamic memory right? Why only 20mb in total?) =(
and can i know how to change the messege storage to memory card, from the memory status, it seem store at my phone memory.

ALARM ON 2730 CLASSIC

hello, I bougth a 2730 CLASSIC and i keep having the same problem as my previous mobile. I have to save the info about the alarm everyday to make sure it will still sound after the first alarm tone. If i dont do that the mobile will sound just once instead of repeating the alarm tone for a few times. can anyone help? the manual is not clear on the subject. thanks.

Set the Snooze time for repeating the alarm after pre-defined time (e.g. if you set 5 minutes.. it will repeat at the interval of 5 minutes till you stop it..).. If you do not want to set it daily then select accordingly under Repeat on selected days..

hi mate,
you came to the wrong place. unlocking has nothing to do with us, but everything to do with your network carrier. you will need to contact 3 to get your handset unlocked and for the unlock code.
