2800 config with 4FXO VIC, voice-ports?

I'm trying to configure the voice-ports on a 2800 router with a 4 port FXO VIC and when I issue the voice-port command it only shows ports 50-50 so I use
voice-port 50/0/1 and it comes back with invalid input at marker and it points to the 50.

Lights on the FXO card are lit up but I do not have any cables plugged into them, am I missing something?
Thanks

I'm guessing this is the info on the pvdm2?

  • UC560 fxo with 4FXO VIC card.

Just wanted to confirm before purchasing how the UC560 handles PSTN Analog lines.  We have 8 analog lines each with a different number.. example 123-456-7899, 123-456-7898, 123-456-7897 etc....
If the office wants to use one of the numbers as the "main" office number how would the UC560 handle the incoming calls?  If someone dials the main number, lets say it will be 123-456-7899, what happens when a 2nd person dials it?  Will the UC move that incoming call to another FXO port just like when doing outbound calls?   If it works the way I mention above, that would allow for 8 people to call in on that 1 line and it will be spread between all 8 fxo ports..  does that sound correct?
Or, does the teleco company have to due the hunting for us?
    Any insight would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    J

Yes, telco has to do it. System cannot control how telco routes incoming calls. So, one has to ask telco to setup an hunt group, and define which addtional lines it will re-hunt calls. Depedning on situation these line can be incoming only, or bidirectional. In this case, special care must be give to the CO and system hunt scheme to minimize glare.
Also, please note if using a bunch of analog lines like you're planning, that will not get the best results to the users, like fast dialing, immedaite CLID display, automatic hunt as described above, DID service, digital voice quality, etc. For best results, one should only use ISDN PRI, or SIP trunk.
Finally, but very important: unless you have significant amount of expereince with telephony and netwrok, it is strongly recommened that for sure and quick results you get an UC certfied Cisco partner, or person of equivalente knowledge and expereince.

  • Saprouter config with RFC on tcp port 33xx

I have a customer who has configured saprouter to allow remote (from the Internet) connections via the SAP GUI.  These connections work great.  However, when they try to add entries to the route tables for TCP port 3300, 3301, and 3303 the external application they are using (a gateway connection on these ports) fails.  Is there some special configuration which needs to take place to allow the RFC connections vs. the regular SAP GUI connections on ports 32xx?
    Kind Regards,
    Eric J.

I was able to fix the problem by configuring profile parameter "gw/alternative_hostnames" to the public IP of the SAP system.

  • SRST advice.translation-profile on voice-port drops after router reboot.

I have MGCP gateways that configured as SRST gateways too.
I have translation from internal numbers and vice verse then I use in config.
    Here is the final result:
    <b>
    voice-port 0/0/0:15
    translation-profile incoming 1
    translation-profile outgoing 2
    </b>
this translations work when gateway come in SRST fallback mode.
    But
    <b>
    translation-profile incoming 1
    translation-profile outgoing 2
    </b>
configs drop from voice-port 0/0/0:15 when I have router reboot

You probably are using the 'ccm-manager config-server' command to download the MGCP config on registration. This is fine for basic operation, but part of the operation is that it will delete any existing voice configs. Therefore the voice port will be deleleted and this takes the translation profile along with it.
If your configuration is static and there are no changes being made on he CUCM gateway config, the easiest solution is to remove the 'ccm-manager config-server' command. Once you do this the other commands on the voice port will survive the reload since the router will no longer delete and then re-add the voice port.
If you do need the config download, you can use Embedded Event Manager (EEM) to re-add the translation profiles on the voice port after a reload. We would need a copy of your configuration to confirm the interface details to re-apply the configs against. If you want to try this option, paste your config into this posting.

  • VOIP home lab with cisco 2620 and VIC-2FXO port

    Hi all,
I m considering building a home lab for studying CCVP, the lab would be based on the follow components :
    - CUCM 8.X (already installed)
    - A couple of soft phones running in VMWARE with IP Blue and CIPC (they are already in place and registered with the CUCM)
    - Cisco router 2620 with NM-2V and VIC-2FXO-M2 (for europe, I'm in France)
so here are my questions :
1/ it looks like the NM-2V comes with integrated DSP, so I should not need more DSP, I have got one PSTN analogic line only so I can make only one call at a time, please confirm
2/ my analog line comes via my home internet provider dsl box, i have already tried to connect an analog phone and it works, please confirm the router will be able to receive and place calls
thanks for your help, I m looking forward to begin my voice lab

    1. Yes, the NM-2V has built-in DSP resources for up to four calls (max voice port density with two 1st generation VICs). You cannot add further DSP chips to the NM-1V/2V, nor would you need to for what it does. You have one PSTN phone line, thus you can only make one call at a time. If you had a second line you could use the other FXO port for a second concurrent call.
    2. If the phone line works then it will work with the router to make and receive calls. As Gregory said, just configure dial peers for what you need to do.
Here is some info on the NM-2V:

  • No non-linear under voice-port to reslove hissing on NM-HDV

    Hello.
    I have a trouble with 2MFT on NM-HDV.
I can hear hissing on call.
So, i had configured no non-linear under voice-port, then i can't hear any hissing.
Instead, I can hear echo on call.
    How can i fix it?
    Regard,
    john.

    Hell Venky.
    Thnak you for your helping.
I tried to configure based on the web site what did you told me.
But i couldn't success it to resolve echo issue.
The voice gate have 12.4(1a) on Cisco 2851.
So the solution to reslove echo doesn't fit in my case.
As i mentioned, normally i can hear noise each i talk another persion. If i stop the conversation i can't hear noise. but i started to talk again, i can hear noise each time.
Thus i tried to disable "no non-linear" parameter, i can hear echo instead noise.
So i should choice if i can hear noise or echo.
And also, i tried to change input gain and output attenuation from -6 to 14, but the each still can hear.
out voip network toplolog is below.
    NEC Digital Phone---NEC PBX---Gateway---(cat6500---MSPP(WAN Area)---cat6500)---Gateway---NEC Digital Phone.
If i make a call using Normal Phone (INot Digital Phone), I can't hear noise. Whenever i can hear noise with NEC Digital Phone.
Here is the option on cisco 2851 with 12.4

  • Purpose of local-alerting under voice-port?

    Hello;
    During a recent migration I noticed a "local-alerting" command under a couple voice-port configurations:
    voice-port 2/1:23
    local-alerting
I did not enter the command in myself, and I checked with the other engineers and all are positive they did not enter the command.
These were found under T1 PRI circuit configs and only showed up under a few (2 or 3) from a set of about 12 total circuits on 2 seperate gateways.
I tried researching this command, and it is not under any command reference doc I looked through, google was of no help as well, it does not even come up as a listed command when entering "?" under voice-port......
Is any one familiar with this command?
    What does it do?
Are there any reference documents or links?
Would it be possible for it to automatically appear after certain events? (no one recalls entering this in)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

This command only makes sense when local bypass of DSP is used, In which case to use DSP to generate local bypass ringback. it's a hidden command, that's probably why you don't see it in the command reference or any document avaialble.

  • How can I get a video signal using IMAC 27 with only mini display port. I like to send the signal wireless to a TV using a TV/audio transmit system.

I have an IMAC 27 with a mini display port ( only this). I also have all the adapters ( mini display port to VGA, HDMI...).
Since I moved to UAE I like to transmit the signal frm my IMAC ( where I also look German TV on) to my TV. I will do so by using a wireless Transmit receive system with theree cinch inputs ( transmit system ( video, 2x voice).
The distance to the TV IS ABOUT 10m and one wall. I don`t want to use a cable.
Is there any solution for example mini display to VGA + VGA adapter to cinch so I can use the transmit system?
HDMI would also be an optiekn, bat then I have to by another Transmit receive system.
If somebody made already the experience I would appreciate to share the information
Is there may be any store in UAE where to get support. It is very diificult to get good advice here. They sell everything bat can not reaaly explain and have very often  no technical knowledge. With this problem nobody until now can help me.

I don't know what AppleTV can handle as far as bit rate is concerned, but increase the bit rate as high as it will let you. You are taking DV which is 25Mb/s and compressing it. If you're making an H.264, you should get great results needing no more than 6Mb/s. Bear in mind, the higher the bit rate, the larger the file size.

If you are running IOS 12.4, This seems to be attributed, possibly, to a known bug with the FXS port:

  • VIC 1280 vs VIC 1240 + Port Expander

    Hello,
What's the benefit of using VIC 1240 + Port Expander versus having a VIC 1280?? I don't see any.
    Anybody has some inputs?

The port expander add-on will not be as costly as the 1280 VIC.  The  blades do not have 2 Mezz slots - they have a single Mezz slot and mLOM.  You can't install a 1280 into an M3 expecting this will leave one  additional slot available.   If you're purchasing M3's blades with the  1240 mLOM, it makes more sense to just add-on the expander rather than  add a full 1280 VIC on top of it. The expander also uses a fraction or  power as the 1280 VIC. The most important difference is how the BW is  aggregated
The mLOM + Expander can provide up to 40Gbps of aggregated/Port Channeled BW per fabric.
The 1280 VIC can provide up to 20 Gbps of aggregated/Port Channeled BW per fabric.
The mLOM + 1280 can provide up to 2 x 20Gbps aggregated/Port Channeld BW per fabric.
So you get no BW increase on the blade by using a 1240+1280 rather than the 1240+Expander.  You do however get 2 adaptors per device for the host to manage, rather than 1.
Keep in mind, to achieve the max BW capacity to the blades you require 2nd GEN I/O Modules (2204/2208).
    Regards,
    Robert

  • C460-M2 with 2 VIC-1225, managed by UCSM

C460-M2 with 2 VIC-1225; all documents show only one VIC-1225 (which has to be in PCI slot nr.1)  single wire managment with a UCS FI ?
Is this a limitation ? or must the second VIC-1225 be connected to a switch outside the FI ?
    Walter.

    I received the following answer
Good question Walter. The documentation is confusing. If running the C460 as part of a UCS integration, only 1 card is supported.Although the server supports 2 cards , slot 1 & 2 according to the specsheet. The datasheet states that upto 3 VIC can be supoprted int he server.
The Cisco CCW config tool allows you to configure 2 VIC1225 in the C460.
    From the 460 spechseet.

The C460 server accommodates the Cisco 1225 Virtual Interface card, which is supported only in slots 1 and 2. Note, however, that if the server is running UCSM, only slot 1 is supported for the VIC card.
    ■ The Cisco Card NIC mode is currently supported only with a Cisco 1225 VIC (UCSC-PCIE-CSC-02) that is installed in PCIe slot 1.
    ■ The C460 server accommodates the Cisco 1225 Virtual Interface card, which is supported only in slots 1 and 2. Note, however, that if the server is running UCSM, only slot 1 is supported for the VIC card.
    From the datasheet
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/modules/ps10277/ps12571/data_sheet_c78-708295.html
    System Requirements
The Cisco UCS VIC 1225 is designed for use only on Cisco UCS C-Series Rack Servers. A single Cisco UCS VIC 1225 is supported on Cisco UCS C260 M2, C460 M2, C220 M3, C240 M3, C22 M3, and C24 M3 rack servers. Up to three Cisco UCS VIC 1225 cards are supported on these servers depending on the slot configuration.
Anyone at Cisco want to clarify the above?

As well Ive deselected all the music in itunes so when I sync there will be none on my phone but itunes also ignores this request and puts purchased music back on. I do not have autofill selected. Also wondering where the backup of my iphone 4s is located on my hard disk. Any help greatly appreciated.
