280r and V440 Mibs

Hello All,
I am new to Sun and Unix and I need help with obtaining Mibs for SNMP monitoring. I have two 280r's and a v440. I want to be able to monitor CPU proformance, Memory utilization, Storage and Interface proformance. Can some one help me with getting these mibs?
Chris

I would not worry about any of the standard Sun SNMP stuff. You could use SunMC (which has no licencing limits anymore as long as you dont want support then you have to pay) or even better Net-SNMP. Solaris 10 has it as standard and it gives all sorts of good stuff. I recommend it.

    Hi all there,
What SCSI cable type do I need to connect the DAT 72 tape drives and the V440 servers? I haven't found any information in the whole sun webpage.
    Thanks in advance,

    530-2383 should do the job.

  • Sunfire 280R and Remote System Control (RSC)

I have a sunfire 280R machine, and I was wondering if RSC can be loaded onto it. The sunfire page says that it can, but the RSC page lists much newer models as system requirements for the software.
Also can anyone tell me if the RSC provides a windowing environment for the machine (i've been trying to figure out how to get remote access to a linux windowing environment without much success. I've installed cygwin/x on my windows computer)
    Thanks!

    Hello,
as the name implies the RSC allows to control and monitor the system from remote via serial or ethernet.
The lastest version can be downloaded from
    http://www.sun.com/servers/rsc.html
I'm running RSC 2.2.3 on an E250 (the F280R and the other systems listed on the above page are supported as well).
Also can anyone tell me if the RSC provides a windowing environment for the machine. (i've been trying to figure out how to get remote access to a linux windowing environment without much success. I've installed cygwin/x on my windows computer).
No, it just the client/server application to communicate with the RSC hardware.

  • Callmanager MIB and OID

Is there a way a I can find more details about CISCO-CCM-MIB and its OIDs ? I am in a mid of uploading the CISCO-CCM-MIB  to Network Management App and select appropriate OIDs.. Can some one point me to a good document or link for monitoring the alarms and critical events on the Cisco Callmanager 7  cluster using SNMP MIBs ?

The supported mibs for CallManager should be located on a page under the support lists here:
    http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/netmgmt/cmtk/mibs.shtml
And for MIB detail information, you can hit http://www.cisco.com/go/mibs and navigate to find the CISCO-CCM-MIB, or alternatively directly to where our mibs are available via ftp:
    ftp://ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/

  • How to reset RSC of 280R ?

    hi All
i have a second hand server 280R and when i tried to access RSC via serial connection on my laptop, i couldn't enter because i don't have the password of "admin" and i can not access the server remotely because i don't know if there's any O.S already installed.
I tried to re-direct the console to ttya by pressing on power button while amber LED is flashing but still no access
Is there any jumper i can modified in RSC card so i can have the default

    Hello Michael,
to view InfoDoc 47745 requires a SunSolve account.
If you are a businesss user, call Sun and pay per incident. Another choice is to buy the least expensive service plan to get access to the extended/"private" Sun System Handbook and contract-only docs.
If you are a home user, search the net if you can locate a copy of this InfoDoc. Using google and parts of the url given by kaishinguo, there where 2 hits: Your post and a cached thread on comp.sys.sun.admin.
It's your choice: invest time or money.

  • 280R picld[71] reports disk errors - then says they are ok

    Greetings,
I have a 280R with two internal drives that are not mirrored.
After the server has been online for a few hours, picld reports that both disks have failed. About 30 seconds later it reports that both disks are ok.
I have taken the disks, cpu's and memory and put them in an identical 280R and i get the exact same error messages.
During this period, access to the server is intermittent and most operations fail. (which makes sense, if communications is lost with the disk). However if it is a disk issue why would both fail simultaneously and come back on at the same time as well ??
Does anyone have any ideas ?
    Thanks !

You moved the disks to another 280R, so that would seem to eliminate
the systemboard, power supplies, and cabling from hardware causes.
It also may have eliminated heat as causing intermittant disk operation.
I suggest you might have a software problem, not a hardware problem.
There have been PICLD patches, but they were rolled into the Solaris kernel years ago.
Run Explorer, and open a support case with Sun.

  • Error load MIB in HUM

    Hi all,
I get this error when I try to load CISCO-PRODUCTS-MIB.my in HUM
"Unable to load the MIB file. Either you are trying to load an invalid MIB file or the dependent MIB files are not available in the path"
How you can see in this site http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseMIB.do?local=en&mibName=CISCO-PRODUCTS-MIB, this mib don't have dependencies
    Could anybody help me?
    Thanks

What version of HUM are you using?  I tested 1.2.1, and the MIB loaded just fine.  I placed it under NMSROOT/hum/mibmanager/mibcompiler/mibs, made sure casuser had access to it, then loaded it.

  • ACE SNMP cesRserverTotalConns "There is no such variable name in this MIB"

I have an ACE 4710 appliance currently running version A3(2.6), though earlier revisions had the same behavior.  I am able to query some parts of the CISCO-ENHANCED-SLB-MIB, but others result in "(noSuchName) [t]here is no such variable name in this MIB." For instance, I can successfully `snmpwalk` cesRserverOperStatus, cesRserverStatechangeDescr, and several other OIDs, but not cesRserverTotalConns, cesRserverFailedConns, nor cesRserverCurrConns.  I've also tried `snmpget` of specific real servers with the same results.  Things like OperStatus and IpAddress work, but Total, Failed, and CurrConns do not.

I have reviewed the Cisco ACE 4700 Series Appliance Administration Guide - Configuring SNMP document and read the "SNMP Limitations" which states "[i]f an SNMP MIB table has more than one string  index that contains more than 48 characters, the index may not appear in  the MIB table when you perform an SNMP walk. According to SNMP  standards, the SNMP requests, response, or traps cannot have more than  128 subidentifiers."
If that is the reason this doesn't work, could someone please more adequately explain the difference between querying the OperStatus versus the CurrConns when the OID I'm querying in each instance is the exact same length?  And is there anything that I could change in my configuration so that I can query connection information with SNMP?
If that documented SNMP limitation is not the reason that those particular queries fail, does anyone have any idea what the problem might be and/or next steps I should take in troubleshooting and resolving the issue?

Are you using snmp v1? If so, please try snmp v2.
The following is the test result in my lab.

If you use snmp v1, the behavior looks expected since syntax is not convertable to SMIv1 as below.
It means you have to use snmp v2 if you want to get Total, Failed, and CurrConns MIBs.

  • SNMP data - MIB address not present

    Hi,
    My switch: CISCO Catalyst 2960-S (WS-C2960S-24TS-L V03).
I am trying to read some diagnostics data from the switch by using Kepserver Ex (SNMP protocol). I have downloaded the MIB files from CISCO site, RFC1213 and IF-MIB.
The problem is, that I can't read all the data. For example the OperStatus of the switch the server can read only for the first port (port no 1). For the other ports there is an information, that the address is inaccessible.
I have used the standard scanner (part of Kepware software) and i found inside the switch only one addres for OperStatus (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.1). Other addresses are  invisible, for example there is no address for OperStatus port 2 (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.2).
How to deal with this problem, what can I do / change to read the data properly?
    Regards

It is not necessary that port numbers has their index in order and port 2 would be accessible by # 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.2.
You can check the following command to see the IfIndex to interface mapping :
    show snmp mib ifmib ifindex
    Example :
    Switch-01#show snmp mib ifmib ifindex
    Loopback200: Ifindex = 92
    GigabitEthernet1/32: Ifindex = 32
    Vlan301: Ifindex = 187
    unrouted VLAN 19: Ifindex = 145
    GigabitEthernet9/8: Ifindex = 77
    GigabitEthernet1/21: Ifindex = 21
    Loopback1: Ifindex = 156
    Vlan142: Ifindex = 184
    GigabitEthernet5/1: Ifindex = 54
    GigabitEthernet1/30: Ifindex = 30
Many times the index mapping can be random and port 1 can have snmp index as 1 and port 2 not necessarily may have snmp index as 2.
So from the above switch example, to see the operational status of Gig5/1 i will have to poll instance 54 :
    ifOperStatus.54 (1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.54)
    Please check.

  • MIB Extension - Cisco Catalyst 2960 -

    Hi everyone,
I would like to monitor a cisco catalyst 2960 provided with IOS v15. I accessed mib files and I found that many component are disabled or have no entry in it (check attachment).
So my question is : Can I extend the mib to support more OIDs ? and if so, I'll be glad if you give a tutorial or example !
    Thank you so much.
    Best regards,

Your ipRouteTable and EGP MIBs are disabled because the 2960 is a layer-2 switch only, so it does not have any ip routing or EGP.  The MIBs will be disabled for features your switch does not support.

  • MIB file collections

Every year or so, I download ftp.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/v2.tar.gz and /pub/mibs/v1/v1.tar.gz and update my Cisco MIB collection
I'm realizing that none of these files have changed over the last several years ... not, in fact, since 2008.  Has Cisco really not changed any MIB files over the last couple years?  Or is there a glitch in the process which updates these tar files?

The counterpart at ftp://ftp-sj.cisco.com/pub/mibs/v2/ seems to have some files updated in 2009 and 2010, e.g.:
