288Kbps sync on a 22Meg connection!?

Hi guys,
I have recently been having some ongoing problems with my phone line which I am still trying to track down.
For some reason the modem has become more unreliable lately and has got to the silly point of it resyncing repeatedly. On Monday before we went on holiday, I recorded it resyncing 9 times in a 15 minute period.
Now for some reason, we can only hear noise on the phone line when the modem is connected as well as the telephone line in the microfilter. If we plug the phone directly into the Master Socket it is silent.
I have tried unplugging all the phones from the phone side of the microfilter with the modem connected - didn't work.
I have tried replacing both the microfilter and modem cable - didn't work.
I have tried plugging just the main phone into the phone port of the microfilter and the modem into the other side of the microfilter - Still noise.
I must say we are starting to get a bit sick and tried of the unreliable connection.
After I tried changing the cable tonight, I didn't get 2 minutes to test the connection before it resynced to a record low 288Kbps sync with a 33.5dB noise margin. Here are the modem stats:
               Down Up
SNR (dB): 33.5 32.2
Attn(dB): 17.0 10.5
Pwr(dBm): 0.0 12.4
Max(Kbps): 6600 1132
Rate (Kbps): 288 443
Does anyone know what on earth is going on? First the repeated disconnections which have been going on for over a month and now the line syncing repeatedly at 288/443Kbps? What is this?
How do we go about getting this looked at? This is clearly classed as a fault because within our training period on 21CN, our speed didn't go below 16Mbps to my knowledge back in February.
What do we do? This connection is unusable now and is pretty shocking for a connection with a 17dB downstream attenuation!

I have a BT HomeHub v2 that I can try after but I can't say I'm impressed if we have to wait 3 days with these speeds especially if the line has been as unstable as it has been and it's a weekend (Plus the fact we live about 8 miles away from the nearest town).
Are there any other options? Even if the speed increases again back to around 20Mbps, the resyncing problem is still going to probably be present on the line.
Edit: I did some more testing a few days after that earlier post and found the noise only present when the modem was connected as well as the telephone.

  • Sync Zone can't connect to Gmail

    Hi,
My Sync Zone can't connect to my Gmail Account. Domain name is [email protected]. All is proper set up but it fail atthe connection.
Is anybody having the same issue?
Does it exist any alternative to synchronize contact and calendar with my Xperia Ion?
    Thank you for your help
    Ju!

This could be caused by a firewall blocking PC Companion from connecting to the internet. If you have a firewall installed, make sure it's set to allow PC Companion.
If your internet connection goes through a proxy you may also have to enter your proxy in PC Companion. Click PC Companion settings at the top right and then go to proxy settings.
If you use MS Outlook with MS Exchange you could also synchronize directly with MS Exchange from the phone. Go to Settings -> Accounts and sync in the phone and add a new account with your settings (you get these from your IT-department).
You could also try the 3:rd party application MyPhoneExplorer from www.fjsoft.at.

  • Automatically sync when iPad is connected

is it possible to automatically sync when iPad is connected? I don't get the choise of marking a checkbox like the one I get on my iPhones summary-tab.
    What I'm using:

    iPad 3 iOS 7 GM
    iTunes 1.1b48
    iPhone
    iPad

I'm puzzled. In itunes, when my iPhone is connected to my Mac and the iPhone selected in the left hand pane, after then clicking on the Summary tab at the top of my screen, in the Options section below there is a check box I can select to "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected". However, when I follow the same procedure with my iPad there is no checkbox to "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected". It's just not there. Instead I see "Open iTunes when this iPad is selected".
If there is a setting in the Summary Tab to automatically sync an iDevice - I have never seen it. Yes there is a preference in iTunes to allow the devices to auto sync - but the setting in iTunes is for iTunes to open automatically when the device is connected. That setting is greyed out if you turn off auto sync in the iTunes preferences. There is also a setting to sync over WiFi and you have to enable that if you want to sync over WiFi - but not automatically sync over WiFi.
There is no setting on the iPad itself for auto syncing. There is a statement at the top of the iTunes WiFi sync setting that states the device will auto sync when plugged in, etc. - but no button to turn on Auto Sync on the iPad.
The iTunes Helper login item is if you cannot get iTunes to auto launch when your devices are connected. It should be enabled in that setting - iTunes Helper should be checked.

  • Recently i uncheck the box i tune wifi sync and tried to connect my usb cable to my macbook, now i tune cant detect my i phone at all!! Pls help as i cant sync my i phone anymore!

Recently i unchecked the box i tune wifi sync and try to connect my i phone using the usb cable provided. Now my macbook cant detect my phone, help!!  I cant sync my phone anymore....

The update did not do anything.
AT&T cannot and will not do anything, they do not provide support for iPhones, Apple does.
The issue is not with the iPhone or iOS if you've reset network settings and tried forgetting the Wi-Fi Network, it is specific to the network.
Check the settings on the router, try disabling the security settings first... that will clarify the issue is not with the device but rather the Network.

  • Will iCloud sync all email accounts connected to the mail application?

Will iCloud sync all email accounts connected to the mail application?

The questions on mail and MobileMe are ones that I have, too. But another question/issue that I have is the inability for my iPhone to separate calendars for me. I have 2 work calendars and one personal calendar. Plus I have a family calendar. I would really like to be able to look at my calendars on the iPhone and see what I have for personal, family and business. I was able to do this with my old Blackberry.
When I looked at the video for MobileMe, it seemed to accomplish this on the computer (mac or pc) but I don't remember seeing the iPhone give good distinction between different calendars (i.e. syncing different calendars or separating them by colors).
    Any thoughts?

  • Will iCloud sync using your 3G connection?

Will iCloud on IOS 5 sync data using your 3G connection? If it does is there any way to set it that it does not sync over your 3G network and only sync using wifi when connected?
Also the new IOS 5 update, will it use more mobile data? If so how can i cap this so that it does not use too much data without me relaising?

Do you know what, I think that this *is* enough for me to look elsewhere.  PhotoStream doesn't work for me, so that has been a major annoyance which had taken time to try to resolve (unsucessfully) and now they have made something that I do regularly 4 times more time consuming for me.
I have a work iPhone, my own iPhone, and an iPad.  Perhaps I'm unusual in having several iOS devices hooked to the same iTunes, but what this means is that if I want to delete an app, whereas before I only had to delete it in iTunes and then sync my 3 devices, now I have to deleted in iTunes, delete from my work iPhone, delete from my own iPhone, and delete from my iPad.
It's stupid, idiotic, and frankly rubbish.  Sure, I'm invested in the iOS world with probably a couple of hundred of pounds worth of apps, with TomTom and so on, but guess what - that is only a fraction of the cost of a new device, so really, when it comes to it, it's nowhere near enough to keep me on iOS.  Real alternatives are available now, in a way that they weren't 4 years ago, and although "they" may say "it's not much of a hassle", really, why should I have to put up with any hassle?

  • Genius mixes do not sync each time I connect

For some odd reason, my genius mixes do not sync correctly. Once connected to my mac, I have to manually select the mixes I want on my nano, even though the rest of my selection remain intact. Any ideas? I've reset the nano to factory settings, tried soft reset, nothing helps. (other than selecting the mixes I want each time.)

Then I gather you already researched for a solution through *Apple's Knowledge Base?* You're only other alternative is to go to an Apple Store or contact iPod tech support. Every iPod comes with *complimentary, single-incident* telephone technical support _within 90 days of your iPod purchase._ If you also purchased AppleCare, then your warranty is extended for technical support and hardware coverage for two years from the original purchase date of your iPod.

  • Groupwise address book sync with Nextel Direct connect #'s for 8350i

Is there a way to sync address books for groupwise and 8350i to included the nextel direct connect information?
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Mapping solves the problem. Groupwise has no corresponding field for "Direct Connect". For ease of data entry, I mapped the Direct Connect field in my 8350i with the pager field in my groupwise address books. The BB desktop manager now syncs the nextel direct connect #'s.
    The steps are:
In BB desk top manager, select Sync Configuration; address book; advanced; Field Mapping (at bottom of list). Map an unused field in the GW address book with the direct connect field in the 8350i.
I assumethis would also work with outlook and others.

First, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your computer (11.x). If you connect the phone to a USB port directly on your computer (NOT to a USB hub) and it still doesn't appear in iTunes you need to troubleshoot iTunes.

  • My itunes will not sync my iphone or connect to the itunes store

    Hi there,
A couple of months ago I started experiencing problems with my ipod touch syncing to my itunes, and the connection to the itunes store also became rather hit and miss.  I decided to give it another go when I bought an iphone 4, which I did a couple of weeks ago.  Despite updating my itunes to version 10.5 I am still experiencing the same problems.  When I connect my iphone to my PC it gets to step 2 of the syncing process and then appears to be in some sort of limbo where it does not carry on working (the progress bar stays static rather than slowly increasing).  I am also unable to connect to the itunes store (it does not recognise that there is a problem, rather it just says 'Itunes Store' in the main part of the screen, in some kind of Emperor's New Clothes scenario, as though it's trying to kid me).  In addition I cannot connect to icloud in the control panel.  I have no problems with connecting to the internernet, have defraged and done a disc cleanup and checked that the firewalls are not blocking connectivity.
Please, does anyone have any suggestions?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Quit the application if it's running. Move the selected item to the Trash. Relaunch the application and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...

  • My ipad is no longer syncing automatically when I connect to my macbook pro.  Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

I've had an ipad since late December 2010.
In the past, it has always automatically synced when I connect it to my macbook pro.
Now, when i connect it...nothing happens.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

The first thing to do is to launch iTunes on your Mac. Go to Preferences - under the iTunes heading in the menu at the top. Click on Devices. Make sure that you uncheck the box next to - Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically. Quit iTunes and restart your Mac.
Connect your iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes. Select your iPad under the Devices heading on the left side of iTunes. Then click on the Summary Tab at the top right side of the iTunes window. Put a checkmark (select) in the box next to  - Open iTunes when this iPad is Connected. Make sure that all of the other boxes are checked as you desire according to what you want to sync. Click - Apply - in the lower right corner to sync.
Disconnect your iPad after syncing. Quit iTunes. Then connect your iPad again and iTunes should launch and sync automatically.

  • Any way to recover Pages documents on disabled, never-synced iPad Mini or connect it to network so Lost message will appear?

    Hi,
Apologies for the long post. For my three questions, please skip to the bold copy below. The first couple paragraphs are preamble.
Yesterday I unwittingly--and dimwittedly--disabled my 2012 iPad Mini by entering my password too many times. (Or rather my coat pocket and Bluetooth keyboard did it as I walked all over town, unaware of what they were up to. The activated keyboard in one pocket continually woke the sleeping iPad in my other pocket, the iPad kept demanding a password, and in the jostling I must have entered password after password. Finally it disabled because I'd set it to do so. I didn't know it was permanent though. I thought it would ask me to try again in a few hours. My oversight.)
I'm desperate to get my Pages documents off the iPad, which I've never backed up on iCloud or synced with iTunes. (My Macbook went belly up in July and I couldn't afford both a new computer and the more portable iPad--so I just bought the iPad and the Pages app.) Until December I was emailing myself the Pages manuscripts I was working on, but a few weeks ago I got lazy about this, and now I've lost a month's worth of work. I couldn't be madder at myself.
The Genius Bar gave me only the Erase/Restore option, which I can't bring myself to do. So I tried a couple third-party apps (Dr. Fone and Phone Unlocker) on my office iMac. But both require me to tell the iPad to "Trust this Mac" when the iPad shows the prompt--which the iPad doesn't do because it's completely disabled. The only words that ever appear onscreen are "iPad is disabled" and "Connect to iTunes."
So I'm scouring my brain for solutions:
    1) Is there any hope of re-enabling the iPad while preserving the data, maybe by starting a restore process in iTunes and aborting before data is erased? Then maybe the password field will show up again and I can type in the correct one?
    2) Or, even better, is there a way to connect the iPad to a network via the Lightning connector or even by taking it apart and hooking it up to something or other? (WiFi was on when I last used the iPad, though I don't have a cellular plan.) I ask because if I can get it online, then it will get the Lost iPad message I sent via Find My iPhone (in iCloud), and presumably the password field will show up on the iPad (along with my phone number), allowing me to enter the password once I've marked it as Found. But the iPad will only receive my message to it if it's connected to a network--which it can't do while disabled.
    3) Is there any chance that in the next few months or years someone will figure out a solution (maybe a better recovery software) that will let me access my documents again? I just can't delete them, even if it means putting it in a drawer and saving up for a new iPad.
Many, many thanks for any suggestions, no matter how outlandish. I'm desperate!

    Hi Brian
I had the same exact thing happen to me - except it was my wireless keyboard that disabled my ipad.  I also have documents on Pages that I did not want t to lose.  This worked for me!  Found it on another help site....I was able reactivate my ipad - nothing lost - all is good!
    1. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    2. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    3. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    4. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    5. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    6. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    7. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

  • How to sync iPhone with MBP connected via ethernet to PowerBook where iTunes and iPhoto content resides

I just got the iPhone 5, but I am still using a PowerBook G4 machine that will not sync with my new iPhone.  I was wondering if I could
    1) create a new user for myself on my brother's MBP
    2) connect that MBP with my PowerBook via ethernet
    3) have iTunes and iPhoto on my new MBP user to be mapped to my PowerBook iTunes and iPhoto Library folders respectively
    4) sync the iPhone with my new user on my brother's MBP and acquire all of the content from the iTunes and iPhoto libraries that reside on my PowerBook
Will this work?  Does anyone recommend a different solution to get the content from my PowerBook G4 1.33 to my new iPhone 5

Now I have made a search and you are right. A problem which seemed unique to me is, in fact, very common. It is unbelievable that on one hand the Apple programmers can create great software, but on the other hand they act like retards when they forget about some basic functionality. I really can't believe that I will lose my purchases simply because at Apple nobody thought that people do install a fresh system from time to time. What a shame.
But what about consolidation of accounts? I am being asked to provide account ID which I don't even remember anymore. It seemed natural for me that I download some applications and simply go on with life, just as in about any other website on the internet. But suddenly Apple says that I will not be able to save or transfer my application because I need some funky ID. Hello Apple... My application is already on my phone so I should be able to copy it where I want without some ID. That's really odd.
Anyway, I will try to search the forum and solve my problems. I simply didn't even think in my wildest dreams that Apple software could be sometimes so ********.

  • Trouble syncing iPod after initial connection

We just purchased a 5th gen iPod, and we're having some trouble getting it to sync with our Mac mini Core Duo. When we connect it via the included USB cable, it will appear on the desktop, trigger iTunes to start up, and perform a sync. However, the problem arises if we try to manually sync the iPod again after that first sync. When I go into iTunes and right click on the iPod and select "Update iPod", iTunes hangs for a minute with no indication that the iPod is syncing. If I try to right click on the iPod and select "Options", I am able to choose different options, but after clicking "OK", iTunes hangs for a minute and then reports "Preferences were not safed for the iPod "xxxxxx" because it could not be found." Basically, it seems like after that first sync, the iPod disconnects and will not reconnect.
    Additional notes:
    * I have tried the "Five R's", although the "Reinstall" part did not work - when I tried to run the iTunes installer, it told me there was "nothing to install". Presumably because I already have the latest version of everything.
    * I did put the iPod into diagnostic mode, and it passed all tests successfully.
    * Even when the iPod fails to sync, it does continue to charge... so it appears that the connection is at least working somewhat.
    * If I set the iPod into Disk Mode, it seems to work fine. However, to do this, I either have to use the key combination to force it into Disk Mode, or REALLY QUICKLY set up the options to do so while it is performing its initial sync after being connected. As I said before, after the initial sync happens, and the iPod disconnects, I can't save any of the options.
    * When I connect my 4th Gen iPod via the 5th Gen iPod's USB cable, it exhibits the exact same symptoms as the 5th Gen iPod. That leads me to believe the problem is not in the iPod itself, but possibly in the cable, the mini's USB port, or in the software. I have tried plugging in to all four USB ports on the mini with the same results. The 4th Gen iPod works fine when plugged in via FireWire. And of course the 5th Gen doesn't support FireWire, so I can't try that.
    Any suggestions?
Mac mini Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   2gb RAM

You're not alone. I have the exact same problem as
you. I had a 3G iPod before and it worked perfectly.
I'm glad to hear that someone else is having this problem. I'm totally baffled as to what the issue could be. I'm going to list every place I think there could possibly be a problem, and any steps I've taken to rule it out:
    1. Hardware problem inside the 5th gen iPod.
    - I have run all of the self-diagnostics, and they passed with flying colors. The iPod plays back music, photos, and video just fine. Also, I have the same problem with the 4th gen iPod, when it is hooked up via USB2. The 4th gen works fine when hooked up via FireWire.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    2. Hardware problem with my USB cable.
    - I took my iPod to the Apple Store and hooked it up using their USB cable, and experienced the same problem. Also, the iPod charges normally in any case, and it syncs over my USB cable just fine if it's in disk mode.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    3. Hardware problem with a USB port on my Mac mini.
    - As noted in #2, I took my iPod to the Apple Store and hooked it up to one of their Mac minis, and it had the same problem. Also, I plugged the iPod into all of the ports on my Mac mini and got the same results with all of them. All of my other peripherals work fine on all of the USB ports (printer, card reader, camera, mouse, keyboard).
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    4. Hardware problem on my Mac mini other than the USB port.
    - As noted in #3, I had the same problem when I hooked my iPod up to the Mac mini in the Apple Store. Also, I have run the Apple Hardware Diagnostics CD on my Mac mini and it did not come up with any problems.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    5. Problem with the iTunes software on my Mac mini.
    - As noted earlier, I experienced the same problem when hooking up with the Apple Store's Mac mini. Also, my 4th gen iPod works just fine when connected via FireWire.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    6. Problem with the Mac OS X software on my Mac mini.
    - As noted earlier, I had the same problem on the Apple Store's mini.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    7. Problem with the Firmware on my iPod.
    - I had updated my iPod to firmware 1.1.1, but even after downgrading it to 1.1, I had the same problem. And I'm having the problem on my 4th Gen iPod when it is hooked up via USB, and it has a totally different firmware.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
    8. Problem with the iTunes music library on my Mac mini.
    - I reset the iPod using the iPod Updater, wiping out all of its data. I then created a fresh user on Mac OS X, logged in to it, and connected the iPod. That user had no iTunes library at all, so other than the preferences, no data was being synced to the iPod, and I STILL had the same issue.
    - Conclusion: not the problem.
Ok, so all of those are not the problem. So what could the problem be? Well, let's try a few theories:
Theory A. This is a problem that affects all Mac mini Core Duo users who are syncing iPods over USB2.
    - If this was true, wouldn't we be hearing a lot more complaints? I suppose if most of the users had their iPods set to disk mode, then they would never notice the problem.
Theory B. Um... I don't have any other theories.
I've thought about taking the iPod back and swapping it for a new unit, but based on all of the troubleshooting I've done, I don't see how that could make any difference, since I'm experiencing the same problem with my 4th gen iPod.
Anyone want to take a stab at it?
