2D Animation on welcome screens of iPhone Game

Hi All,
Did little bit of googling and found out flash animation is not supported on iPhone. I am just wondering what kind of tool is used in for building 2D animation (text or frame) in iPhone games especially in welcome screens and also in menu?.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Quartz 2D. (Although for a welcome screen you could play a QuickTime movie...see Zynga's Live Poker for an example.)

For the iPhone, the welcome screen only displays in portrait orientation. Otherwise uses CSS media queries to display different images/layouts for different iPad devices in landscape/portrait

How to find what carrier my iPhone 4 is with (if stuck at the welcome screen), and can I activate a it with a borrowed SIM card.

OK. My friend had bought an iPhone 4 online, second hand. He does not have the SIM card. He had recently changed his passcode and FORGOT IT, and we had to restore it. The problem is that, after we restored, it askes for the SIM activation. And none of us have a MICRO SIM Card. So my question is how can I find out what carrier the iPhone is with if it is stuck on the welcome screen and if I can borrow someone elses SIM card to activate the phone so he can use it.
(we could not contact the person he bought the iPhone from to find out what carrier it is with.)

Go to the apple store and they will figure out what sim card it is.

70% cpu usage by my game, using 5 animated textures on screen

Hi.
i have just developed a game having 5 or 6 animated textures on screen. i render these textures using GLSprite sample code. now when i check its performance form terminal(using top) it consume upto 70% of cpu...
so i want to ask is this okey on simulator???
if not then any suggestion to bring it down..

I had exactly the same issue after updating to OS X 10.5.7 which was released yesterday.
Updating X11 to 2.3.3 available from xquartz.macosforge.org solved my problem. (Yay!)

so... my out of warranty iPhone 4 power button stopped functioning all of a sudden and it also no longer made that "click" when pressed.
As I already said, it's already out of warranty. This is actually my 2nd iPhone 4. Apple replaced my previous because of a faulty home button. Now my "new" phone has a faulty power button. This phone is of course out of warranty because it's been over a year.

Optional iPhone welcome screen - specs, how to test?

So far i didn't found any info how to use this feature. First test with simple page with one image 640x640 was disaster, there was shown just part of image (half on width). So you need to prepare your webpage for iPhone 3G resolution (640x480).
And there was no way how to go past this screen (no button, nothing) - i need to force quit the app and relaunch it, then i saw standard UI of viewer.
Who designed this feature made imposible to test it properly - because this welcome screen is show just FIRST time when app is launched, i'll never see this welcome screen on my iPhone without complete restore of iPhone. Removing app and re-install don't help. We tested it now on few iPhones and we are running out of them now.

My iPhone 4 Is Stuck on the Welcome Screen

My iPhone's display is completely cracked. The touch screen is jittery and the very right side of isn't touch responsive at all. I reset the settings on the phone and now I can't slide it all the way over in order to use it. I've tried the holding down power off thing, powering off, trying as hard as possible to slide it over, and more. I've connected it to iTunes to no avail. There doesn't seem to be a control in iTunes that allows be to set it up here or skip this welcome screen altogether. I don't want to have to replace the display right now, so I hope there's something I can do. Thanks!

Can't get past the activation screen for iphone 3Gs

I am trying to activate the iphone 3Gs after switching from blackberry. When I turn the phone on, I get to the "welcome"screen, I choose my country and then given the option to activate through WiFi or iTunes. When I activate through WiFi, I get a message saying that the activation server is unavailable and to try again in a few minutes ( tried it again and was unsuccessful). I then attempt to activate through iTunes and receive a message saying that there is no SIM card in the phone (when there is). I am stuck here with a phone that is not working! I do not know what to do. I took it into Apple for them to check it out and they can't find the problem. Maybe someone has come across this issue and had it resolved? Please share!

You are asking in a thread that is 18 months old. Whatever.
Here are possible causes for that message:
1. Your antivirus is blocking access to gs.apple.com.
2. Your phone is jailbroken.
3. Your computer has been used at some time in the past to jaibreak some iOS device (not necessarily the phone with the problem), and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used.
4. Apple's activation servers are down (very rare, and never for more than an hour or so).
For 1. try disabling your antivirus.
For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer.
Windows: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
Mac: /etc/hosts

Everytime I start Itunes, I get the Welcome Screen and everything is reset

Hi,
everytime I start ITunes 64 bit on my Windows 7 64 bit PC, I get the Welcome Screen and all is reset.
Seems to be ITunes can not store the settings after closing.

I am having the same problem! Everything worked fine last week and now it looks as though iTunes is brand new. I can't sync my iphone without restoring. and I if I reload my library or even a song, nothing saves when closed. It just sits there empty.

Just reset tiger but can't get past the first welcome screen

I'm loading up my MacBook Pro after resetting it to factory settings without a disk. It loads up to a welcome screen after a little animation of languages and it says 'to begin select the country or region you're in, then click continue'
But there are no languages to select. The box is empty and obviously I can't continue until I click on something.
Anyone had this issue or is it just me?

Possibly, make sure it's the Retail version though.

Welcome screen needed

I bought a new iphone 5 from a third party. Usually, I get a welcome screen and I retrieve all my apps and songs through the steps. This one is already logged in. How do I go back to the welcome screen? I tried logging in on iCloud, didnt work.

The previous owner needs to deactivate FindMyPhone on the iPhone or remove it from FindMyPhone in their iCloud.com account.
If they don't the iPhone will be useless.

What's the most impressive iPhone game made with Flash that you've seen ?
I'm trying to decide whether to port an existing Flash game over using cocos2d, or whether to adapt it for the iPhone packager...
I've been looking at other apps made with Flash, and I'm not that confident the performance is there yet.....but maybe I haven't seen the right apps ....

3GS Stuck on gray welcome screen?

Bought used iphone 3gs for 13 year old daughter , she plugged it into itunes 10. now stuck in Gray welcome screen no service showing...try to restore tried til i'm blue in face...any suggestions have no back up.... firmware?

Hard reset, hold the home button and the top button for five seconds, then restore as new. Sorry about the lack of a backup friend.

IPhone Game Just Added To The App Store

My first flash iphone game just went up, had some speed issues i had to work through,ended up with 30fps on the iphone 4.
Had problems with the app loader,had to change the provision id from com.alique.appname to com.alique.* and then it worked fine.
My app still has the Screen Flicker problem mentioned in threads, ill try out the stage exact size method and see if that fixes it.
I'll put up the android version in a day or so. Flash can work out well if you dont over reach, Hoping to have my next game up soon and hoping molehill
is released soon for web and mobile.

Nice job, just bought the game and works really smooth except i don’t get the blocking training after the levels completed, seems impossible to get the meter fully up. Aside its sick that you got it up and running on the app store.
Wanted to ask if you know or heard about any ways to implement the apple game center? I’m launching my game mid February and it would be a perfect feature as right now I’m using the URL methods to run a php of my server to display a leader board and i think apple won't allow it as they say you’re not allowed to run any external code, plus the whole game center things would be a great addition

IPad vs iPhone - games app

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between an iPad (2) game app and iPhone game app?
Can't I download for one and use for both?

There are three types of app :
iPad apps (games or otherwise) can only be used on the iPad, they will not work on the iPhone or iPod Touch - they tend to be designed for the larger iPad screen.
iPhone/iPod Touch apps will work on the iPad, but they will only use an iPhone portion of the screen, though there will be a '2x' button on the screen which will effectively double the size of each pixel in both directions (so may appear pixelated)
'universal' apps which are indicated by a '+' symbol in the store. They have processing in them to detect which device they are on and should therefore take advantage of the iPad's larger screen.
They can all be installed on multiple devices.
If an app/game has different iPad and iPhone versions then quite often the iPad version has HD after its name.
If you buy the iPhone version, and then decide that you want the (HD) iPad version (assuming that there is one) then you will need to pay for the iPad version - you won't get it for free.
