2g/3g/4g toggle still missing in iOS 8.1 update.. iPhone 6

I updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1. Though apple claims that 2g/3g/4g toggle is available in the update, it is not available in the phone.
I use an iPhone 6 in India. I have checked the upgrading of network and searched for some option to activate it. Nothing helps
Anybody got a solution?
Thanks in advance.

Nik8163,
I have the similar problem. I ported my number from Vodafone to Airtel 2 days back and the 2g 3g toggle button is no more. I contacted airtel and they said its something to do with a plan and 2g is not active for my sim. But whenever my 3g signal drops i get the 2g but thats not good enough as my battery life goes for a toss cuz the phone still keeps searching for the 3g signal. Also apple support mentioned something about unlocking the sim, I have no clue as to what thats about and they also mentioned an update to carrier settings which i believe is not there in airtel. Im going to restore my phone back and install iOS 8.1.1 again tomorrow and see if it works. If it doesnt Im going to have to visit an Airtel store to get more tech support.
Another interesting thing i noticed was, my friend who has an iPhone 5 has airtel and has the 2g 3g toggle. But that phone has only EDGE connection as its data plan is EDGE, when i put that sim in my phone i didnt get the 2g 3g toggle. But when I put my SIM in that iPhone 5, surprisingly the 2g 3g toggle button was there and it seemed to work as i was using the phone for quite a while surfing in both 2g and 3g. Hope this extra bit of info helps you to sort this issue and you may get an idea from the same. Hopping for a positive reply from someone so we can sort this issue out. Im beginning to feel moving from Vodafone to Airtel was a costly mistake.
Cheers,
M.

    My carrier is Movistar Argentina
Its seems that the iphone has embedded the settings in same way. So, some times the iphone load that information of the SIM CARD or the carrier (I dont know) but, other, like this one have bad the settings & I dont have the options (menu) to change. (APN OR MMS)
This menu options are missing. In some iphones with the same FW version and same Hardware  appear...

Movistar Argentina is a supported carrier. APN settins are not available for manual selection when using any supported carrier as they are already in the phone... There is no reason to have to change them. If it's not working correctly, contact your carrier. They don't have your account provisioned properly.

  • Calendar List View MISSING in iOS 7.1 on iPhone 4S

The old way to get list view was to tap the magnifying lens.
Since 7.1 there is supposed to be a red button that toggles list view and month calendar + partial (smailler) list view.
The icons for these are 3 lines for List View and a small rectangle with 2 lines under it for Month + List view.
I only have Month + List view and never see the 3 line icon, nor can I find any way to get full screen list views of my calendar.
    Any suggestions welcome. Thank you.

  • Lost all contacts after iOS 4.3 update [iPhone 4]

The description above pretty much tells it all. All contacts missing from iPhone 4 after update to iOS 4.3.
All music, calendar, photos, voicemails are still there. And the strange thing (to me) is that the numbers are still there under "recent" and "favorites", just not the contact names to associate them with.
Backup is useless, as it is from after the update [why is there only one backup? That is useless, and you can't seem to force backups with date stamps].
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I had the same experience as RandyCPU, updated to 4.3 yesterday, all contacts disappeared but all other information still there, photos, texts, recent calls but no names etc. I too found that my phone was not backing up contacts and I only had the info from my changeover to the iphone4 in December. I asked if I could set it to back-up on syncing and was told it did it automatically but this is obviously not the case, I was then told that I would have to do it manually. Apple could only suggest restoring the December back-up but I have now lost everything loaded on the phone since then, they also advised that I was the only example of this problem. Very unhappy and still no idea why it happened.

  • TS3581 iOS 6.1 update - iPhone will no longer connect/pair with my car.  Is there a workaround for this issue?

After the 6.1 update my iPhone 4S will no longer connect with my car stereo (2012 Chevy Sonic).  Until update, everything was working fine and I experienced no such issues.  I have tried deleting my phone from my stereo memory and re-pairing, but I get a pair unsuccessful error on my iPhone; I have been able to pair a pre-6.1 iPhone successfully after discovering the problem.  Has anyone found a workaround to this issue?

IIRC updating the iPhone iOS changes its characteristics when viewed by vehicle
    bluetooth
That is why you need to remove pairing from both ends and start again
Vehicle just does not recognise the iPhone as the one it previously paired with

  • Home button unresponsive after iOS 7.1 update (iPhone 5)

    Hi,
I just updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 7.1 on Monday. But today (Thursday) my home button suddenly unresponsive. The phone had been working normally until now when I was on FaceTime and tried to view my home screen but couldn't.
Turning the phone off/on doesn't fix it. Once I turn off the phone and turn it back on, I can see the homepage and enter any app but I can't escape that app without shutting down the phone again.
Also, there is no damage to the phone/home button in any way (physical, water, etc.) I can't reset the phone because, you know, the home button won't respond.
How can I remedy this?  Is anyone else having this problem?

I had the same problem and kept playing around with the phone and doing internet searches. This seems to have fixed the problem.  I went to Settings, General, Accessibility and then Home-Click Speed. I changed from Default to Slow.

After IOS 8.2 updates, iphone couldn't connect ad-hoc network.
Is there any bug for this issue or security update.??
    Help would be really appreciated.
    Awaiting some good response.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi abidmomin,
Thanks for contributing to the Apple Support Communities.
It appears that after updating your iPhone to iOS 8.2, you're not able to connect to your Wi-Fi network.

  • Adding Custom Labels Missing for Contact Numbers After Upgrading to iOS 8.0 and issue still exists on iOS 8.1

I noticed that after upgrading to iOS 8.0 on my iPhone 5s, adding custom labels for contact numbers got removed. It still exists on iOS 8.1 as well. Is there someone who is facing a similar issue or can someone help me how to get that back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi Yugendra,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I have good news. You can still choose a custom label in Contacts on iOS 8. The option should be below "Other" in the list of labels when editing a contact. This information is found in the iOS 8 user guide:
Contacts at a glance - iPhone
Change a label. If a field has the wrong label, such as Home instead of Work, tap Edit. Then tap the label and choose one from the list, or tap Add Custom Label to create one of your own.

  • Features missing from iOS 5 (3GS)

I upgraded to iOS 5 on my iPhone 3GS.
I am missing two features that I did not think were reported to be missing on the 3GS with the iOS update.
First - I am missing the option for a location based reminder. I have the option for a time-based reminder, but nothing for a location. Location services is on, but I do not have a listing under location services for the reminders app, to selectively toggle that. I am registered with iCloud as well. This seemed to affect it for other people (or so says google), but still does not give the option for location based reminders on my phone.
Second - I do not have a listing for Earthquake alerts in my notification center settings. I know this is only available to people in Japan and I DO live in Japan. This iPhone 3GS was purchased in Japan and runs on the Softbank wireless network. I DO have it set to English as a system language (with various Japanese keyboards enabled), and if that is affecting the ability to natively receive Earthquake notices, I am really disappointed in Apple. I DID try switching my device's language to Japanese, but still did not have a toggle for Earthquake notifications.
What gives? These are probably the two features I was looking forward to most, and I don't have them and I don't know why.

I don't have a 3GS so don't know if the reminders feature is missing or not. But on my iPhone 4S it was missing until I turned on iCloud syncing for reminders. There is another discussion thread on this topic you should check out: https://discussions.apple.com/message/16335763#16335763.

  • Some data missing on iOS 5.0.1

Hi, would anyone help me? I had problems on reading Presentations (.ppt) and PDFs. As an engineer and lecturer, it is impossible to use iPad (2) for educational purposes because I make presentations using Equation Editor and when read on iPad (2) Wi-Fi+3G model running iOS 5.0.1, some symbols (e.g. Greek Alphabets like pi) wouldn't show and instead become small boxes with question marks. Even when Presentations are converted to PDFs (perfectly), some symbols are still missing without showing boxes with question marks. I bet this is caused by Apple iOS which is not complete with Greek Letters and other symbols. This is disappointing as people like me will choose to buy other tablets. But is there a way to fix this? I hope Apple will add these data with iOS 5.1 update.

This link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1518 will be helpful when creating your original presentation. Make sure the symbols are being created with Unicode. You also may want to check your iPad settings under General -> Keyboards -> International for a keyboard that can enter to correct characters if you are entering them from the iPad's keyboards. There are also some .99 apps that enable entering symbols and special characters directly on the iPad.

  • Delete All option missing in iOS 7

I am trying to "Delete All" SMS to free up space and improve my iphone4 performance . The option is missing in ios 7.1.2 .
Though still one can select by user/search by set of messages and "Delete All"conversation , a blanket "Delete All" SMS is missing in ios 7 .
I remember it being available with older OS versions .Can someone respond if this option is available ? or if not , is Apple trying to re(institute) part of the next OS update  ? Any help on this is appreciated .

As far as I can remember from my 3GS days to now my 5S there was never an option to delete all in SMS - or one that I can recollect.
You'll have to delete each message thread one by one.
I'm glad there is no option to delete all message - otherwise we would have a bunch of threads about accidentally delete all message how do I get it back, then blaming Apple for a oversight or flaw.

  • Macros still missing

Macros are still missing from this release of developer.
By missing I mean you can't configure it.  The functionality is still there.  You can import your key settings from previous versions that had macros working and that key definition will still activate it.
Does this mean that macro's are going to be depricated?  or maybe they will be augmented in the future?  I don't know.

It appears that Tools > Preferences > Shortcut Keys > Category=Code Editor no longer includes commands for
    Macro Playback
    Macro Toggle Recording
    as in our 3.2 release.
I have no specific knowledge of this, but perhaps these commands got renamed at some point in the JDev framework and we just missed them while re-basing on the latest release.  I can see a JDev enhancement request for adding toolbar access for such commands, but it refers to them as
    Play Recorded Macro
    Toggle Macro Recording
So I doubt it has been deprecated.  I would guess either the name difference is at fault, or else some other issue caused a developer to disable it for 4.0.  A quick search did not turn up any bug logged for this omission.
