2g wall charger with 4g iPod touch

I have a 4th gen iPod touch and bought an omnitwch iPod accessory kit containing, among other things, a USB wall charger and car charger. The compatibility chart only goes up to iPod touch 2nd gen. Can I still use this charger?
Thanks

It should work fine. USB uses a standard voltage.

Yes, any USB wall charger will work with an iPod.

  • Using old wall charger with new iPod Classic

I just got a new 80Gb iPod Classic to replace my old original 20Gb model. Can anyone tell me if the wall charger that came wiht the older model will work to charge the newer one?

Yes, it should work just fine. I'm still using the AC adapter and firewire cable from my 60 gig iPod Photo to charge my Touch, 3rd gen Nano and 60 gig iPod with Video.

  • Can I use my old firewire charger with my iPod Touch

I've recently got an 8GB iPod Touch which obviously only came with a USB cable to charge and sync with my laptop.
However, I've also got an old 4th generation 20GB iPod which came with a firewire lead that connects to a firewire mains charger. Can I use this to charge my iPod touch from the mains? Also can I use either the firewire or the old USB cable to connect to my laptop??
    Thanks very much.

You can use the firewire charger to connect your Touch to the mains. I use my old one and it works just fine. I suppose you can also use it to charge using your computer though I can't say I've tried. However, as the newer iPods don't have any kind of firewire circuitry, you can't use the firewire cable to sync you iPod.
    Best of luck.

i tried to sync my ipad to my itunes using usb but it will say not charging,, i can sync with my ipod touch without any problem... please help..

    From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4060 :
The fastest way to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter. When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge, but only when it's in sleep mode.
iPods need less power to charge them (their wall charger is half the power of the iPad's, 5W as opposed to 10W), so are more likely to charge via USB

Get a replacement cable. If still under warranty, Apple will replace the cable.

  • Charger Issue With 2G iPod Touch

I have just upgraded my iPod Touch to a 2G iPod Touch. I have an firewire apple wall charger (which I bought from apple). I charged my old iPod Touch from this charger but my new one just gives me an error message saying that it is unsupported. Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?

I saw another post on this today, it appears firewire support has been totally removed now and the iPod Touch can no longer be charged by firewire. Certainly firewire doesn't get any mention at all in the minimum requirements document: iPhone and iPod touch: Minimum system requirements

  • My daughter bought an 4th generation ipod classic without a charger.  We are using the charger from an ipod touch and it won't charge.  Someone posted online that not all chargers will work on the classic.  Anyone else have this issue and any suggestions?

My daughter bought a 4th generation ipod classic without a charger.  The ipod was working just fine, but then we tried to charge it using a brand new charger for an Ipod Touch.  It won't charge and someone online someone posted that there ipod touch charger worked on the ipad, phone and whatever else he had but it wouldn't work on the classic.  Anyone else have this same issue?  Any solutions?

The ipod did not come with a power cord as we purchased it used from ebay.  The ipod was half charged when we received it and it worked well enough to transfer songs to my computer (the previous seller didn't delete their 2000 plus songs).  My son then used the same cord on his computer to transfer the songs, but processed an update to the ipod and after that,it wouldn't work.  So, I'm not sure if we received a bum ipod, an update issue or we have a charger issue, but the cord we used to transfer the songs came from my son's brand new ipod touch.  We've also tried 2 other chargers from ipods we have in the house, 1 being a wall charger.
One individual posted online that he took his ipod classic, mac and phone overseas with one charger and it worked fine on all but the classic.  So, I'm thinking that they cords may not be universal.  Online I've read that it must be a 6 pin firewire, high power 2.0 usb cord.  Or that I need to purchase an applie charger.  We don't live close to an apple store and I'm reluctant to order one just to have it NOT work.
My daughter is learning the hard way that buying off of ebay is not always the best solution to a cash strapped 12 year old.
Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

  • Lots of problems with my iPod touch 4th generation

I am having a few problems with my iPod touch 4th Generation. I have been having them for a while and I would really like to get them fixed.
My first and main problem would be that my iPod touch is not being recognized by my computer (windows) and it will not sync to iTunes. I am certain it is not my USB cables fault because I have tried it with three different USB cables and all of them have had the same result. It has seemed to be completly fine until I updated to ios 6. I would restore my ipod to ios 5 but I can't get my ipod to be recognized by iTunes and restore it.
My next problem is that my ipod is charging but it does not show that it is charging. The thing is though that it will only charge when it is hooked up to a very high powered source like my computer. My ipod dock works but it says it uses 160 watts of output power. It will not be charged from another wall charger and it will not charge in the car with a car charger.
I would love some help with this. I have been having these problems for a while and it is starting to annoy me a little.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Charging problem on iPod touch 4th generation after updating to iOS 5.1.1

I updated my iOS to 5.1.1 yesterday when I synced some new music onto my iPod touch 4th gen. It worked fine, and charged fine yesterda after the update. I had it plugged in charging until I left, I used it and it die over night. When I went to charge it, it kept coming up with "Charging is not supported with this acsessory" wether it was in the wall, or plugged into my computer. As most windows users will know, when you plug yout iPod into the USb port of the computer it comes up with the Scanner and Camera wizzard. I generally close this, but with my curiosity, I let it stay open (without running the wizzard) and now my iPod is charging from ym computer, as long as this is open. Why does the scanner and camera wizzard need to be open for it to charge? Is there a fix for this? I've seen symillar problems on other iOS devices after upgradign to 5.1.1, so could this problem be because of the iOS update?
Thanks in advance, Alex "Twitch" Brent

    -Try another cable.
    - Look at the dock connector on the iPod look for foreign materia and abnormalities.

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Rest. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup

  • I had a fully charged fifth gen iPod touch.  Had nothing but trouble since updating to iOS8.  This morning the iPod was fully charged. Turned it off-on standby. Came back and it won't turn on. Tried all troubleshooting tricks. Anyone ideas?

This morning, I had my fully charged 5th gen iPod touch.  Have had lots of problems with it since updating to iOS8.  After briefly using it (successfully may I add), I switched it off to standby.  Came back only 10 minutes later, and it would not turn on. Tried all the obvious solutions, even switched out the lightening cord.  Apple support could not help, and their only solution is to call.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any other solutions other than obvious ones?  iTunes no longer even recognizes the iPod. Thank everyone!

Hey Wildfarmrose, Have you tries any of these: iOS: Not responding or does not turn on , if still no joy try DFU Recovery Mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
About the only other thing to try is let the battery drain, then attempt to charge for 30 minutes and attempt to turn on, otherwise try another cable, and/or different computer, if still no joy most likely dealing with a hardware issue, schedule an appointment with the Genius Bar at your local Apple store and have your iPod evaluated. Don't forget to bring your cable also.  Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar

  • What's wrong with my Ipod touch generation 3

What wrong with my ipod touch generation 3.? It can not boot up and show only apple logo forever after I erases all my personal data to give to my friend?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
