2GB Nano never changes space Available from 1.7GB?

Wow, there's lots of posts similar to this. No one has posted how to resolve it though.
Any idea?
Doesn't matter how many songs, it always shows 1.7GB Available (of the 1.8GB Capacity).
Thanks.

Current iTunes, version of 1.0.
No, that is not correct. You don’ thave version 1.0 of iTunes.
Possibly you do have iPod version 1.0.
Plus, I'm not sure I like the "volume limiter".
Then don‘t use it. You don‘t have to turn it on.
iPod Updater 2006-03-23 delivers the following software:
Features of iPod Software 1.1.1 for iPod and iPod Software 1.1.1 for iPod nano:
Volume limit
Bug fixes
For more information on volume limit, go to http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303414.
Also, it fixes the lock up on the Rating screen.

You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your Mac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
Other things you can do to gain space.
Once you have around 15 GBs regained, do a search, download and install OmniDisk Sweeper.
This app will help you locate files that you can move/archive and/or delete from your system.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.
    Good Luck!

  • 2nd Hard Drive says space available is 2gb on a 233gb drive

While using final cut pro, my render manager said that I did not have enough space in the render folder which is on a second internal drive (233gb). How ridiculous, I thought. I know there is at least 120gb free. Sure enough, the info on the drive said that there was only 2gb of free space available. I have backed up and deleted all the files off of the drive; no go.I have repartitioned, erased, and zeroed the drive, all to no avail. No matter what I do the drive still tells me that only 2 out of 233 gb is available despite there not being any files on it at all. I gotta say I'm stuck on this. Thanks in advance.

Hi, duttonge, and welcome to Apple Discussions. Since you've deleted everything from it already, you might as well just reformat the drive in Disk Utility, giving yourself a completely clean slate on it.

  • I've been backing up to my 3 TB capsule for 3 months and yet my capacity never changes from 2.31 TB ... Is it backing up ???

Can anyone explain why I have been backing up for months without any problems, beside the fact that the availability of space continues to say 2.31 TB no matter how much new data is backed up. Why does the space available never decrease even though I see the activity bar showing how much new data is being backed up. Thanks for the help!!!

No sizeable files deleted, just addition of photos and a lot of pdf files as I am clearing out a lot of paper and scanning it to my HD. I just want to make sure it is all being backed up. The backup process seems the same as it has for years, but the 2.31TB, never changing remaining capacity, concerns me as it hasn't changed in months.

1, you can't at the moment, though with iOS 5 in the Autumn, from http://www.apple.com/ios/ios5/features.html#photos :
Even organize your photos in albums — right on your device
2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad

Note that Photos in your Camera Roll are also backed up to iCloud.
I have found most of the time, this is what is consuming a lot of the iCloud space.
You should regularly copy the photos from iPhone to computer.
    -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083
Then delete from the Camera Roll
You can then sync only the photos you want, back to the iPhone, using iTunes.

  • Hard Drive connected - Space Available never goes down when deleting files?

I have tried 2 different USB drives connected to the new airport N router.
Both drives work fine, an 80 GB maxtor, then replaced it with a 500GB usb seagate drive. Both drives have the same problem.
I only hook one drive up and copy over files to the drive. The space available shows up fine, but when I delete any files, the space available never goes down.
Any ideas how to fix this or is this just a nice big glitch?

Anyone with a hard drive connected to the N router.
Just copy some files the drive, then delete them while watching space available. The space available never goes down. What gives? Anyone else seeing this problem?

I don't know if this update involved rewwriting the entire operating system whereby you essentially transferred the software from one system to another, but if so, then you need to uninstall and reinstall the software and reactivate it using your serial number.

  • Upgrade the OS from Maver to Yosemite.. message "There is no enough disk space available to install this product". Please help.

I have 5.12gb space on my Macbook Air (Mid 2012). But when i attempt to upgrade the OS from Maver to Yosemite, i get a message "There is no enough disk space available to install this product". Please help

You need to temporarily free up additional drive space - the Yosemite download itself is just over 5GB and then it needs more space to install it. Once the new OS is installed the installer will be deleted. Music and movie files are large and will be the most convenient files to remove to an external drive.
On another note it isn't a good idea to try to run the computer with so little free drive space. Look for files you can offload to an external drive permanently. For example, I keep my music and movies on an external drive. You can keep a small assortment of music on the computer but save lots of space by keeping the regular media library off the computer.

  • Change Interface availability threshold from Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0

    Dear Community,
I’m working in Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0 and I’m having the following problem:
I want to monitor the interfaces availability from all the devices of my network. But only makes sense send an email notification  for the most critical interfaces. I don´t want to receive an email notification every time anyone unplugs the network wire.
    How can I achieve this?
I already tried to change the interface availability threshold from the Interface Health Threshold Template, but this one isn´t available to configure.
The idea was to change the severity of the alarm so I could distinguish what type of alarm would send email notification.
I also created a Custom SNMP Template that gets the ifOperStatus using the MIB IF-MIB. This also didn’t work because Prime Infrastructure doesn’t allow me to define thresholds to a Custom SNMP Template.
Without threshold, no alarm, without no alarm, no email notification!
    Can you help?
    Regards,
    Daniel CJ

Only on the HA pair which would be the secondary.
High Availability (HA) RTU: If Cisco Prime Infrastructure is deployed in a high availability configuration with one primary and one secondary instance in an HA pair, then an HA RTU is required. You only need to purchase a single set of the regular licenses (for example, Base, Lifecycle, and so on) for the primary instance.
    Thanks,
    Scott
