2nd backup always full backup

Hi:
I'm setting up time machine to work on a USB drive attached to an airport extreme.
Just reformatted the drive to GUID and took the apostrophes and periods out of my network name.
Things work but there is one problem: the second backup is always a full backup. Ie it backs up 90 gigs, then the second backup is again a 90gig backup.
After that it works fine.
For my first backup I'm plugging the drive in directly through USB, then I go and plug it in through the airport extreme, then when it starts to do a full 90 gig backup for the second backup I cancel, unplug the drive, plug it back in through USB and let it finish the second backup.
After that things work normally but I'm concerned because there's an extra 90 gig on my disk=my disk will get full quickly. I'm using a 500gig disk to backup two macbooks with about 90gig a piece on them currently.
From console the only thing that looks out of place is:
25/03/08 2:27:45 PM /System/Library/CoreServices/backupd[2925] Event store UUIDs don't match for volume: Gojira
Should I be concerned? Am I doing something wrong here?

Short answer, yes. Both computers backed up for the second time as if it were an initial backup.
However that was before I reformatted the hard drive -- it wasn't GUID.
Sorry, that's confusing. Here's what happened:
1. Plugged in macbook. Did full backup.
2. Second backup on macbook: did full backup again.
3. From then on with macbook: normal backups.
4. Plugged in macbook pro, did full backup.
5. Second backup on macbook pro did full backup.
6. From then on macbook pro backedup normally.
7. Realized I needed to reformat the drive to GUID. Refmoratted.
8. Did first backup with macbook pro. Did full backup.
9. Did second backup with macbook pro... doing full backup. I'm mid-backup right now.
For my initial backup on the macbook pro, console reported 465.29GB available. For the second backup 379.48GB available. Currently in the finder -- I am mid-second backup -- it reads 301GB available. So it seems like it's copying everything on my computer twice...

Since I upgraded to the new iOS 7 operating system for my iphone, I can no longer adjust the volume on my alarm. No matter what setting the volume of my phone is my alarm is always full blast. Since I hate being startled awake, what can I do?

Go to your home screen, and then press the volume down or up button. It should say Ringer instead of volume. If it doesn't do that, try going into the clock app and try it there.

  • My storage is always full

I don't understand what's happening to my phone after I updated to iOS 8. I don't have that much apps compare to any other iPhones but my storage is always full. I'm using a 16 GB one. My songs in music aren't so many. It really frustrates me because I can't install some apps that I want without deleting the other. I hope anyone can explain.

Lets see whats taking up the space. To do so, go to Settings > General > Usage > Manage Usage, and then you will be able to see whats taking up the space.

    Hi,
Based on your description, I understand that this issue (C drive gets always full) occurred after Exchange
    Server 2013 installed.
    à
But my exchange server is installed in different Drive (EX: D)
I suggest that you should check file system to see what folders or files are taking up the space recently.
This issue may be not related to Exchange server.
Please refer to the following article and enable Disk Cleanup Utility. Then monitor the result.

Meanwhile, please check if the winsxs directory is growing bigger.

By the way, please check if you have installed update rollup 2836988. I noticed that Windows.edb file grows
very large. For more details, please refer to the following KB.

  • Survivor Space is always full and causes Full GC

    Hi, Gurus,
I got full GCs on the server today and when I used jstat to look at it, it quite surprised me that survivor space was always full.
Eden had about 40M free, Old Gen had about 1G free. Permant space looks fine. I don't see why there should be Full GC.

The "FGC" in the jstat output could include CMS actions? If yes, that answers the later half of the question.

  • Acrobat will not accept installation on 2nd computer in full version but only trial or buy a new license

Acrobat 9 Pro. will not accept installation on 2nd computer in full version but only trial or buy a new license; comuter crashed with harddrive; could not deactivate; this is a new computer to replace the old, but now Acrobat refuses to accept it.

    Hey mjmselim,
Using a single user license, you can activate Acrobat on maximum two computers.
You need to first deactivate Acrobat from the first machine and then activate it on the second machine using the same serial number.
Please let me know have you been trying to install Acrobat and error message prompts on your screen.
    Hope to get your response.
    Regards,

  • 6280 Main Memory always full!!!

I am a HONG KONG guy. I brought a 6280 phone for 2 weeks, after install java game the Main Memory always full. I did all unwanted things in the Main memory but the result still..............
I phoned to HONG KONG NOKIA customer hotline. I followed the steps but the bug wasn't fixed. I wasted 3 hours for waiting in HONG KONG (Mon Kok) NOKIA CARE center. Just want them receive the phone & fix it. The phone could not be repaired in an hours since there was overcrowded Let See how bad is it!!
The staff said many 6280 had same problems. But nobody reported to headquarter.
I think would it be possible to upgrade firmware at home like Pocket PC, computer mother board & display card etc.? Software errata are common in complex electronics product. Fix bugs via the internet can be reduced the cost in support & maintenance. Never waste customer’s time & company resource.

Sorry for the link was broken.

  • Time machine issue: always full backup after upgrade to Mavericks

I just upgraded to OS X Mavericks - since then, each Time Machine backup is a full back (Instead of just backing up the differential between backups) - I couldnt find the answer on the web, pls help! Thanks

You say you think indexing is now done. Is that because everything else seems to be working with no delays?
Because you said "The CPUs stayed maxed and machine hot for about 3 more hours." That sound like it was done indexing your internal HD.
To be sure, look at the Spotlight index at the right of your menubar.  If it has a tiny dot inside it, it's indexing something.  Click it to see what.  If not, it's caught up.
Oddly, the indexing of your backups may or may not appear there.
And when you say leave it for awhile, are you thinking more like 4 hours? or more like maybe 20 hours?
It depends on how large your backups are, and how you're connected.  Ethernet will be faster than WiFI, of course, but will still take a while.  The indexing may be done at the beginning of the backup, during it, or after it seems to be done (if the backup says it's done, but it doesn't eject the Time Machine Backups disk image, it's probably still being indexed).
I'd guess a few hours, again depending on how large your backups are.
At what point should I give up on it?
When you run out of patience?

  • My backup is always full

My backup function constantly tells me my backup is full but I only have 48 pics so far and 12 song tracks.  What's going wrong?

Song tracks are NOT backed up to iCloud; if they were purchased from iTunes they will be redownloaded when you restore from iCloud, or will sync from your computer if you restore from that. All app data are part of the iCloud backup unless you exclude it. You can see how your backup is used by going to Settings/iCloud, tap on Storage & Backup then Manage Storage. This gives you the option to exclude data from various apps (except mail).
If you have corporate email (MS Exchange) you can create a separate folder for mail with large attachments, then not sync that folder to the iPhone. That's how I've been doing it for 6 years.

  • Want to install PSE 10 onto 2nd PC, using Full PSE9 Backup.

My question is this: Will PSE 10 automatically try to upload all 50,000 plus pix to Adobe?  If so, how do I stop that part of the process.  Don't think I want all my pix uploaded.
    Thanks

It shouldn't,  unless you enable syncing your entire catalog.
But if these photos are in albums that have been synced, just don't log into your photoshop.com account till you disable syncing for all of them.

  • 2nd backup doesn't work

After a first successfull backup, the 2nd won't work. "Preparing" takes a long time, and then I get an error message that the backup couldn't be completed due to an error. Smart explanation…
I initialized the FW HD before I used it for TM, checked its integrity again: no problem.
Thanks a lot for an idea
    Peter

Hm. It seems to work now. I changed the backup volume (in fact, I selected my FW drive again) - and it ran. :-/

  • How do I add a 2nd Backup drive to TM

How do I add a secound hard drive for backups in TM?
I have a HD backing up areas of several hard drives but I have run out of space on that terabyte BU drive.
I want to add a second drive to backup files that I don't have space on my current BU Drive for.
How do I add the second drive.
    thanks

Time Machine will only backup to one destination.
The only option you have is to create a RAID set to combine the existing drive with the new drive. This has inherent risks, not least of which is that if you get it wrong you'll wipe the existing drive and your backups now depend on two drives, not one (meaning you've doubled the chance of losing your backups due to a failed drive - if either drive in the backup RAID fails it's all gone).
Note that IIRC you can't do this through the GUI, so you'd have to use the command line. This example assumes your existing TM drive is at /Volumes/ExistingTMDrive and you want to add /dev/disk2 to the array:
    diskutil enableRAID concat /Volumes/ExistingTMDrive
    diskutil addToRAID member disk2 /Volumes/ExistingTMDrive
The above is untested, but should work.
