2nd display with out mirroring

I want to use my 17" apple display with my iMac, without doing mirroring. I heard there was a firmware hack to do this. Can anyone show me the website and tell me about the warranty effects. thanks.

I'll get it worked into my main script. Is this Action Manager code, and not just regular Javascript from the Scripting Dictionary? I can't tell the difference. I'll see whether or not it's actually faster than Applescript.

Sharepoint hosted App is displaying with out design

I have added an app to my developer site from SharePoint store and while I tried to take the app page, it is getting displayed with out design. The same thing is happening for the apps created and deployed by using Visual Studio.
Please help me to solve the issue.

Can T420 use 3 displays with out a dock.
One on a laptop display, one via VGA port and another one via DISPLAY port.
I use T420 4178-BYT with Intel HD Graphic 3000 (no nvidia).

You have to re-activate it with the original sim card, or one from the same carrier it's locked to (unless it's not locked, then any GSM sim card will do). The sim card itself doesn't have to be activated, it just has to be the correct one and be inserted. After that you can use it as an iPod Touch. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3406.

IPad as 2nd display with MacBook???

Dear Folks,
I asked one of the Apple Store folks about the possibility of using the iPad as a second display with a MacBook Pro. He said Apple didn't offer a cable for that, but he'd been given to understand there was a third party (actually, I guess it's second party in this case [s]) app that would do that.
Does anyone know anything about this?
I don't need an iPad, didn't plan on getting one. But I'd kill for the ability to run a 'dual monitor' setup when I'm on the road. And I have looked at the iPad display-- it's way beyond anything else I've seen in a portable device and definitely good enough to do professional Photoshop work on (nothing else I've ever seen comes close to that).
This is my 'make or break' use; give me that ability and I'm buying one yesterday; without it, don't care.

Yes, looks problematical. The rough edges (mirroring settings, ungraceful uninstall) don't particularly bother me. Reports of crashes when rotating a display and slow update performance do. Slow's a relative thing-- are we talking too-slow-for-playing-Quake slow or too-slow-for-updating-photoshop-window slow?
Since this'd be my only reason for getting one, I suspect the best course of action is to find a friend with an iPad, install the app on our two machines, and give it a thorough wringing out.
And maybe wait for the next rev [knowing, weary smile].

I can't seem to turn off my 2nd display (with no adapter plugged in)

Been looking on the internets for ages about this and not got anywhere, so did a completely fresh install last night.
The problem is that the DVI (2nd display connection) thinks that I have a VGA display connected (i.e. the 2nd display) when I plug in the DVI-VGA adapter to use with a TV that works fine. The 2nd display resets to align itself to the TV connected.
When I disconnect the adapter the Mac resets it display. Back to having this phantom display connected.
I've plugged in the DVI-VGA adapter as well and then carefully removed that and sameroblem.
Having done a fresh install that would mean it's not a software issue, so it has to be a hardware one? Something with the actual connection? Does anyone know of any potential problems as to why this would happen?
I've tried some compressed air. (I've lost the straw so it was straight from the can, spray paint style)

What number are you trying to set as the Caller ID when you call telephones from Skype?

20 inch 2.4Ghz iMac with 2nd Display

Is there anyone out there using a 20 or 24 inch 2.4Ghz iMac with a 2nd Display with Aperture?
I'm interested to know if Aperture 2 will perform adequately, or whether the demanding graphics requirements of Aperture will be over-extending the iMac graphics card with a second display.
My dilemma is that my G5 with Radeon 9600 graphics doesn't really cut the mustard, and the display of my 20 inch iMac isn't suitable for critical image editing applications due to the graduation in screen brightness from top to bottom; so until I can justify the move to a Mac Pro, my options are either getting the (increasingly hard to get) x800 XT card for the G5, or (and maybe the better option?) a second display for the iMac.

Thanks Mark - yes I have an iMac as well as a G5 with AGP graphics and the 9600 card, so it's a toss up between buying a second display for the iMac, or a x800 XT card for the G5. My iMac also has 4Gb of ram compared to the G5's 3Gb.
My thinking is that by going the iMac with a second display route, I will have the advantage of two displays for not a lot more than the cost of an x800 XT card (if I can find one), in a system that is [possibly] snappier running Aperture. The fly in the ointment could be the extra overhead of a second display on the iMac - so I'm hoping someone who is running Aperture with dual displays on an iMac might read this and provide some feedback.

Distinguishing MPEG from ACC with out "Get Info"

When I convert newly downloaded music to MP3 format I go to "Recently Added" to find the MP3 copy. I then have to go to "Get Info" to figure out which one is the MP3 version. Is there an easier way of doing this? I tried "Display Duplicates" but, both files are displayed with out the MP3 file being distinguished from the original download. I just want to burn the MP3 version to a disk.

I would like to mirror a movie on the tv but I also want to be able to do other things with out that being mirrored also how do I do this?

I have nephews I am trying to enterain, while they love movies I have homework to do on my lap top. Is there any way of playing a movie with out the rest of my work showing up on the screen?

If you can hook up your TV like an external monitor with something like a mini-display > HDMI cable, you can turn off mirroring here:
 > System Preferences > Display
Uncheck the 'mirror display' box at the bottom of the window (I think it's in the 'Arrangement' tab).

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
