2nd Gen Ipod and DLO FM transmiter prob

Help
I have a 20g 2nd gen Ipod (works great, updated to ver 2.3) and I just bought the DLO mini transmitter. The problem: ipod controls freeze when connected to the DLO transmitter (ipod continues to play music) but I loose ipod control function. I need to disconnect the ipod to switch to the next track.
Depending on the station I think the sound quality is quite good but the loss of ipod function is a real bummer. Should I try switching into disc mode? Would that help?
thanks
Patrick

I just did a test, to confirm that it does work for me.
I deleted all songs from my 2G shuffle.  Then, I manually added ONE song.  I picked a song that I knew only had one version in my iTunes library, not a song with more than one recording.  I noted the play count for that song, in my main library and on the shuffle (as shown on iTunes window).  I ejected the shuffle.  I played the one song on the shuffle until it finished and started to play for a second time.  I paused playback, and reconnected the shuffle.
When the shuffle appeared back in iTunes, the playcount (both in the main library and on the shuffle) had advanced by 1.
Would it be possible to do the same test with your shuffle and your iTunes installation?

  • 2nd gen iPod and iTunes 5

I have a 2nd generation iPod.  Currently I am running iTunes 3 and syncing with an Intel  iBook running OS 10.6 Snow Leopard.  Everything works great.
It appears I need iTunes 5 to allow my iBook to communicate with a brand new iPad 2 I just got.
If I update to iTunes 5, will it still recognize and sync with the old 2nd generation iPod?
Are there any particular precautions or "work arounds" that I need to employ?
For example is it possible to have two versions of iTunes in the same computer?  iTunes 5 to allow it to talk to the iPad and iTunes 3 to talk to the old iPod?

Very helpful.  Thank you so much.
The notes I was referring to are the footnotes in small faint legal type at the bottom of the page.  I may have been misinterpreting them:
Automatic downloads and downloading previous purchases require iOS 4.3.3 or later on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2; iOS 5 on iPhone 4 (CDMA model); or a Mac or PC with iTunes 10.3.1 or later. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore. Download iTunes 10.5 free.
iTunes Match requires iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), iPad, or iPad 2, or a Mac or PC with iTunes 10.5.1. Limit 25,000 songs. iTunes purchases do not count against limit. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices.
Also, I did get an indication from a "genius" I spoke to at the local apple store that he didn't think the old iPod would work with the latest iTunes, but he hastened to add he wasn't sure about that.  I got the distinct feeling that he had never seen an iPod as old as mine - clearly it predates him.

  • New Nano doesn't work like 2nd gen iPod

When I powered off my 2nd gen iPod and then turned it back on, it would always go back into random play mode. If for example I was listening to an artist with 30 songs and wanted to go back to random play, all I had to do was power off and on and I was back at random play.
With my Nano, powering it off and on returns me to where I last was. The only way I know to get out of that artists play list and get random play again is to click through all the songs until they are cycled through one time. Then I get the main menu and random play again.
There must be an easier way. Does anyone know what it is?
    Greg

I have shuffle set to on so I don't think that is it. There must be a way to get the iPod to go from playing only one artist to playing all of them again. Thanks for the reply.

  • My 2nd gen ipod touch wont start?

i have my old 2nd gen ipod and i pushed restore and it went to the startup screen, and it wont get past the apple.Every now and then the screen flashes. Ive tried connected it but since it hasn't started i cant get to it on itunes so what do i do???

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

2nd gen iPod touch only displays start-up apple icon, and is not recognized by iTunes - what to do?

Thanks, but I've checked those articles out already. I drained the battery and finally got the needs charge (battery w/red line + arrow pointing to a charging bolt), I plugged the USB into the laptop and held down the start key +home key until I saw the apple logo. However, it still was not recognized by itunes. It's been plugged in for over an hour now and the screen is cycling apple logo/low battery (battery w/red line)/and black screen.

Not sure who penned this solution, but it definitely DOES NOT work. At least for me. I had an Ipod Nano on my account, then bought my wife one. When she initially tried to use it, it read my itunes, and wanted to burn all my songs onto her ipod. I read this and she already had a user account set up, but when you use (or try to use) the ipod under her account, it does nothing when plugged in. You cannot download a version of itunes either, as if there is any version of itunes recognized on the computer (anywhere), it will not allow a 2nd download, even if you want to store it elsewhere. Not sure why this is such an issue, as I am sure there are thousands of families out there with more than one ipod on a single computer. Seems pretty basic.

Nothing.  The 2nd Gen Touch is OBSOLETE and is WAY past its support life.  If you want to run the newer apps you have to buy a newer iPod.

  • I can't see songs on 2nd gen ipod classic and no there is no "on this ipod"

I cannot access contents of ipod 2nd gen classic.  Summary - music - movies etc photos - info and the blue button DONE.  The ipod is full and I can't upload podcasts.  Every one who helps, and others asking this question are all told to click "on this ipod" but that is not an option among the itunes pull down menus.
I fear Apple inc wants to force me away from my perfectly functional 2nd gen ipod by not supporting it properly in itunes.

I don't understand what this means.

Remove something from the iPod then.
    Mac Daddy\'s Nemesis wrote:

What question? You've simply made a few random statements, the meaning of which appears to be lost in translation (to me anyway!).
You need to be more specific.
Do you use Sync to manage your iPod? If so, make changes in your iTunes Library, that will remove some media from the iPod at the next Sync, thus leaving room for the Podcasts.
Then connect the iPod to your iTunes Library and look on the iPod/Podcasts pane. (I assume that your reference to "on this iPod" is related to this step.) Do you mean this?...
or, if you have the Sidebar turned on,  this....
Whichever screen you have, click on the device, and then look on the Podcasts pane and choose the option to Sync Podcasts to your iPod. You may need to click on Sync (if you made your choice after iTunes has reached the Podcasts step).
If this does not address your issue, try alittle less drama and a bit more information about which steps you have made, and what did not happen that you expected to happen. Then we might get somewhere.

Fear not, it is properly supported.

Hi, my son has a second generation shuffle (the first type of aluminium clip-on one) and the current version of iTunes "talks" to it just fine. iTunes is a free download from Apple. That's all the software you need.

I have tried many pairs (at least 10) of earphones/headphones sets, that all work on other players, but mysteriously loose the left input when using my iPod. I have tried a restore, but I do not see a difference.

Have you tried Googling for it yet?  There are numerous third party service centers and repair shots that offer replacement parts and such for all models of iPods.
