    Don't know why you would.
You can sync as many ipods/iphones/ipads as you like.

  • HD Video's Won't Play on 2nd Gen Ipod Touch

I recently bought a 2nd gen ipod touch, i had owned one before, but that was when HD videos were basically just starting, so i had never had problems with getting tv shows on my ipod, i have recently downloaded 2 HD episodes of Family Guy, but whenever i try to put them on my ipod an error comes up that they aren't a supported format, is there a way i can trade these HD versions for SD versions, or a way that i can get a converter that can put them in the right format? (When i looked on itunes, i only saw hd episodes, because it was season 9 of family guy, i have no clue if there are any SD versions, so a converter would be the most helpful)

HD is NOT supported on the 2nd gen ipod touch.
Every time you download HD content, the SD version automatically is downloaded as well. Sync this version, not the HD version.
I would guess that there is an SD version/ Look more closely.

  • 2nd Gen Ipod Touch won't upgrade

Hi, I purchased my 2nd gen Ipod Touch in 2009 and since then I was able to upgrade to 3.1.2. A year ago when I tried to upgrade higher, itunes would take forever to back up. A small loading window appeared and it stayed that way for hours. Itunes crashed.
Yesterday I was able to complete a successful manual backup of my ipod touch using the latest itunes software. This time itunes didn't crash and it lasted 15 hours.
But when I clicked on the upgrade button again, the small window appeared and itunes froze again. Before doing this I also made sure to have 2.3 GB of capacity available and I got rid of my largest apps.
Is it possible to upgrade to 4.0? I have read previous discussions and people don't have a problem with upgrading.
I use Windows XP and I downloaded the latest itunes.

  • Downloading HD videos on a 2nd gen. iPod Touch?

    Hey guys!
I'm having some difficulty downloading some newer HD videos on my 2nd gen. iPod touch (Legend of Korra episodes if you must know). Two of them aren't downloaded on, one of them I have no clue why, and the other "The Voice in the Night", cannot be played on the iPod (even though the other ones can). I'm wondering if I can change the video so I can download it onto my iPod without buying it again.
    Thanks!
    P.S.
The other episode is "The Revelation", and it just won't download for no reason (iTunes doesn't notify me that it won't either).

Should work fine, it is a USB power adaptor.

  • Airplay Issue on 2nd Gen Ipod with Apple TV

I recently did the upgrade for the new Apple TV. Since that upgrade, my 2nd generation iPod running iOS 4.2 will not stream video to the apple tv. The video won't even start up. However, I can stream audio fine. This all worked fine prior to the Apple TV upgrade. Any one else see this issue?

You guys are right, I meant Apple TV 4.2....
I was able to stream video on my 2nd Gen Ipod Touch(1.4.2) prior to the Apple TV 4.2 upgrade. I was able to stream youtube and my videos that I had stored on my ipod. These were not 3rd party video's. They were all videos that I converted to mov and transfered to itunes and then to my iPod. This WORKED perfectly fine prior to the Apple TV upgrade. It is as though this new AppleTV 4.2 upgrade made me lose this functionality to stream video. Mr. Prime Minister, this did work!
I am just wondering if anyone else has seen this issue. I can stream video from my iMac through itunes to my apple tv without a problem. It is just the iPod that seems to be not working.

  • Some songs can't be loaded on 2nd gen ipod shuffle (question with answer)

I'm getting the following message when trying to load some songs on to my 2nd gen iPod shuffle:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library, including 'Allegro', were not copied to the iPod "iPod" because they cannot be played on this iPod." When I click on the details triangle I get "Allegro" was not copied because the audio format is not supported by the iPod "iPod".
This is happening for many songs that were previously loaded on this iPod. The songs were all loaded into iTunes from CDs. I have tried the iPod reset utility, deleting all songs and reloading, selecting a single song to sync, no luck.
When I do a "Get Info" on these songs they say they were encoded with either iTunes 6.0.5 or iTunes 7.0.2.
OK. Even before I was able to post the question, I found the answer. If I select the songs and from the "Advanced" menu select "Create AAC version", the AAC version can be copied to the iPod. Get Info shows the encoding has changed so AAC and iTunes 9.0.1.
Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem.
    david.

You can't "sync" that is automatically update an iPod from multiple libraries or computers. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply.

  • 2nd gen iPod touch - do I need to use Google calendar now?

I've updated my Mac to OSX 10.7.2 but I've not upgraded to iCloud, because I have a 2nd gen iPod touch.
As I've read Apple has not including calendars support for these, do I need to use Google calendar now?
I had Mac's for 15 years and even subscribed to MobileMe
If they're dumping my 2 year old bit of kit it's a poor show, I will keep it going as it still does a job for me, it's a shame I'll may have to move away from apple and I guess iTunes too.

That I know I've read that but unless someone comes up with a work around, before then, I'll move to google or yahoo calendars.
I'm Mac through and through, a total fan but like alot of people these day I'm having to cut back, yes it's nice I'm not paying the mobileme sub anymore but I can't justify buying a new ipod or stretching to an iphone.
Maybe I having to grow away from Apple.

  • HT4205 cant find airplay on my 2nd gen ipod touch can you help ?

cant find airplay on my 2nd gen ipod touch can you help ?

What are you trying to AirPlay to? The AirPlay icon only appears if you have an AirPlay receiver ready to accept the media from the iPod.
Also, see the following. The 2G not hot have iOS 4.3 or higher.
From the Videos, iPod, Photos, Music, and YouTube apps on iOS devices, stream videos, music, and photos to an Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation), or stream music to an AirPort Express or compatible third-party device.
With iOS 4.3 and later, you can also stream video and audio from a website or a third-party app installed on your iOS device if the developer for the app or website has added AirPlay functionality.

  • No more podcasting on 2nd gen iPod touch?

On my 2nd gen iPod touch, Podcasts no longer show up in Music app. However, since it only runs ios 4.2.1, the podcast app is not available. The podcasts do sync from iTunes and are on my iPod since they are showing up through search. But when selected, the Music app opens but does not show or play the podcast. Any help or solutions?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all podcasts and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Movies converted for AppleTV won't sync to 2nd gen iPod touch with iTunes 8

I have about 40 movies that I converted to "Apple TV" format with Quicktime Pro. They all play fine on my Apple TV. But only one of them will sync with my new 2nd gen iPod touch... and that one was converted by someone else for me to Apple TV with iSquint!
iTunes tells me the remaining videos cannot be played on this iPod. ***? They play in iTunes, they play on the Apple TV... what's the difference with the iPod?
So now I'm having to completely reconvert all my movies to iPod format with the function in iTunes 8 "Create iPod or iPhone version" but this is PAINFULLY SLOW!!! One video on my brand new 3.06Ghz iMac Intel Core 2 Duo took FOUR HOURS
Anyone else having this problem? Anyone else find a faster way to fix it???
    HELP!!

    It just does.
You can do it quicker using other tools.
For instance I have a hardware device called Turbo.264 which shifts the conversion off the computer and is much quicker.
You can read all about it here :-

  • 2nd Gen iPod Touch, 2008 MacBook Pro OSX Ver. 10.5.8 - Any Point in iCloud?

I have a 2nd Gen iPod Touch, and a 2008 MacBook Pro OSX Ver. 10.5.8
I've used .Mac/MobileMe since 2008 and I have all of my documents on iDisk. If I upgrade to iCloud, what is going to happen? I know all of my stuff will be in the cloud, but will I be able to access it in any way with this equipment?
In short, is there any point in me upgrading to iCloud?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You need Lion to run iCloud, if your MacBook can't be upgraded to Lion, it can't run iCloud.
ICloud does not replace iDisk, which you could continue to use until it is retired in June 2012 (with or without upgrading to iCloud)

  • Recording live music on 2nd Gen ipod nano

    Greetings-
I recently purchased a 2nd Gen ipod nano 4 gig. I'd like to be able to record live music, then load it in my computer. I obviously don't expect CD quality, just decent enough playback to be able to replay the music on my computer (using the Amazing Slow Downer, for example) to learn new tunes.
I would typically take it to an Irish music session, record the musicians then go home and try and learn the tunes.
    Suggestions for a microphone?
Is this done through the memo function of the ipod?
If y'all have experience doing that kind of thing, I'd appreciate your kind advice.

As Lougoose and others have said, the "Music Videos" folder is simply there by default in the iTunes software, and does not have to do with your nano having the ability to play videos or not.
If you'd like to let Apple know about this, as a possible feature in a future update of iTunes or iPod firmware, write your suggestion on these Feedback forms:
    iPod Nano Feedback
    iTunes Feedback
