2nd Gen iPod won't Sync

It's recognized by my computer and by itunes. Everything looks good, but when I go to put music on the iPod it says that it cannot sync and cannot read the disk or something. Any pointers?

EUREKA! By Jove I think I've got it! So here are the
steps to (hopefully) fix the issue of your iTunes
freezing up as soon as you try to access the iPod
after autofilling:
1.
Restore your iPod
2.
When iTunes starts, check the autofill box
3.
While iTunes is autofilling your iPod (hope you have
a few songs so it takes time), go to the iPod
settings, check the "enable disk use" check box and
click APPLY.
Ever since I did this I was able to access my iPod
shuffle even after it autofilled.
Let me know if it works for you too please!
it worked for me! thanks!

My 32GB 5th gen iPod won't sync. There is still over 10 GB free and my itunes is only 17 GB yet it won't let me sync anything. Can anyone help?

My ipod 32gb 5th gen will not sync to itunes or any mac computer. An error message appears saying that my ipod touch requires itunes ver10.7. Does anyone know how to get this on my ipod touch 5? I cannot find it, does it need to be installed onto my ipod from a computer?

  • 3rd Gen Ipod won't sync with Itunes since upgrade to Snow Leopard

    Hi,
I upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard and since then my trusty 3rd Gen Ipod will not sync with iTunes (9.0.3). It mounts in Finder, but does not appear in iTunes. The iPod will still charge, but it constantly displays the "Do Not Disconnect" message until manually ejected.
    Any help gratefully received.

    Thank you kindly

  • 5th Gen iPods won't sync

my 60 & 80 gig iPods won't sync to iTunes. When I connect them, they appear in iTunes, but I cannot add or delete music and several of the playlists don't show up on the iPod. My newer 120 gig iPods work fine. This started on 8-8-10. I am running the current version of iTunes.

I've been having the same problem ever since I upgraded to iTunes 9. Before the update I never had any issues syncing new songs or playlists. I have purchased several new albums and haven't been able to get them synced to my iPod. When I plug in my iPod I get the syncing message and the "Do Not Disconnect" message shows up on my iPod for about 30 seconds to a minute, but when it finishes nothing has been added and the storage amounts haven't changed.

  • 5th Gen ipod won't sync a video podcast

    I have a 80GB iPod, only a month and a half old, 5th Gen.
Thing is, I downloaded 5 video podcasts today, all from the same author.
One of these podcasts WILL sync onto my iPod, however the other four won't, saying that the video format isn't supported, when all five videos have the same format and type.
I have tried everything from renaming them to converting them and still nothing works.
    Can anyone please help? :]

I am having the same problem. The difference is that mine was syncing and then suddenly it won't sync anymore. Hope someone answers your question.

  • 5th Gen iPod won't sync using new iTunes and new Firmware

I updated the iTunes software and firmware for my iPod, and I was excited about how cool it looked. Unfortunately, it doesn't work. It synchronized once. Since then, it hasn't worked. iTunes just freezes up and the "Do Not Disconnect Screen" never goes away. It will just sit there for hours doing nothing and telling me that it is updating, when it fact it is doing nothing. I have even gone through all of the steps of reseting, re-installing, and reformatting it. It still won't sync, but now I have the pleasure of having a 6-month old 60 gig blank hard drive. Has anyone else experienced syncing problems? Any ideas on how I can get this to work again?

  • 2nd Generation Ipod won't sync.  Can anyone help?

I have a 2nd generation IPOD that will not sync.  Can anyone help?

Did it sync before? Is this the same computer it synced with? Is it giving you any error messages? Does it show up in iTunes?

  • 5th gen iPod won't sync with iTunes

I have recently upgraded my iTunes to version 8. Now my iPod won't mount. I get the following error when I plug in the iPod: "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes." I've restored at least 6 times and nothing. I have also downgraded to the previous version of iTunes and it still won't work. Please help me. Right now I have a 30Gb lump of coal sitting in my desk. (The restore obviously removed all my music for it.)

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.

  • 2nd gen ipod won't show in itunes after 7.3.1.3 update - win xp

    hi.
home built xp pro Sp 2 machine - NO USB 2.0 ports. 1 gig ram
iPod Nano 4 gig, been working fine since september.
iTunes decides to update to 7.3.1.3 last night overnight.
It updates but I forgot to reset in the morning.
plugged in the ipod to charge/sync. itunes didn't come up.
realized I had to reboot after the update. did that.
itunes came up and updated my saved music library on the pc. (89 gig, btw) This took several hours.
plugged ipod back in. iTunes didn't see it. This was on a hub. tried it on a port on the motherboard. iTunes saw it & started to sync. Great! Then after about 3 minutes of syncing I got an error saying that "this device cannot be synced, the folder could not be found."
WHAT FOLDER IS IT TALKING ABOUT?!?!
Since then, I cannot get iTunes to see my iPod, The iPod registers that the device is connected and charges but windows says the device has failed to install & device manager tells me "Unknown device" (yes I did have it configured for disk use.) and iTunes will not bring up the device to sync.
    I've tried resetting & reconnecting.
I'm leery of re-installing because I do not want to have to re-load & re-register 89 gig of music in my iTunes library.
Since when has a USB 2.0 port become required for functioning?

Well you tried 'everything', that I thought of, I would think that Antivirus is the main culprit or that install a Windows Plugin that emulates Mac OS X.
Anyway here is a helpful link from CHG, http://cahwyguy.livejournal.com/1220479.html
Read the 4th Paragraph on disk diagnostic, it may tell you that your hardisk is dying and need to be replaced.
    Good Luck!

  • 2nd gen ipod won't restart or connect to itunes

My ipod sometimes won't be recognized by any computer if it's been connected to a non-computer usb port like a wall charger. This is normally fixed by reseting the ipod nano (toggle hold then press & hold menu + play/pause) but now the ipod won't reset using this method (I've tried multiple times). Is there a way to fix either of these problems?

Oh sorry... I must have had that other doc open for another reply.  This is the actual iPod Reset document

You may want to try doing a Restore (if you have not already), to see if that makes any difference for your issue with having to do a Reset. This is the document for doing a Restore

  • Fifth Gen iPod won't sync to itunes.

    Hello
I've had my fifth iPod for nearly a year and it's been capable of syncing just fine, until I purchased a new laptop. I'm not sure if it is my ipod or the laptop that won't apprehend. I at first thought there was something wrong with my cord so I went to the nearest apple store and bought a brand new sync/charging cable.. however all it did was charge my ipod, not sync. So at this point I was pretty sure this might be something to do with my new computer. It's a Samsung Ativ book 4 with windows 8.1. I know that when I updated to 8.1 a few of my drivers acted sort of wonky so I thought maybe somethig was wrong with my device driver. I tried to follow a tutorial to install a new one, it told me to install usbaapl64.inf which went only resulted in an error saying it doesn't contain a compatible software driver for my device. I'm not sure why this is happening but I'm positive it has something to do with my laptop. Is there a simple solution I've over looked or am I really screwed?
    Thanks, Dylan

  • My 2nd gen ipod touch will sync to my computer yet my music i just bought will not go onto the ipod

anyone else have this problem if so tell me what you did to fix it

There are no error messages and yes the iPod is signed into the account that the music was purchased from but what happens is I sync my iPod and it tells me all my music is on there, but it is not in the library and if you search one of the purchased songs it shows up on the iPod. And everytime I click on the song that comes up after searching it takes me to my library for about 5 seconds then puts me at the home screen
