2nd Gen Software Upgrade Issue

I have a second generation iPod Touch. I had to restore it because it was going really slow and freezing up when I restored it I lost some of my apps like Facebook. Now when I go to reinstall from App Store it tells me I need version 4.3 or higher. So i go to my itunes and it tells me my software is version 4.2.1 when i hit update it tells me the current software is up to date and no update is needed. HELP!!!

Did you not keep a copy of facebook on your computer?
If not, then there is nothing you can do.
Sorry

  • Windows 7 64 bit, iPod touch 2nd gen, iTunes sync issue

I have Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium and am frustrated to death. I have spent days wiping out my iPod trying something different an only to start all over again. I am not a n00b to computers and only ask because I only find a trail of tears and none of the problems I see look specifically like mine.
I have been following this issue since Feb 2010 and notice reports that are sort of similar back to Jan of 2009. Anyway here is my problem.
iTunes will recognize my iPod touch 2nd Gen. iTunes will "sync" apps and data. iTunes will not sync movies, music, books, or software upgrades.
I get an error code that changes depending on what I am trying and seems to lead to no where. I can't honestly remember the code anymore.
I can sync with this same computer using Windows XP 32 Pro win a VirtualBox VM, but can not do it directly from within Windows 7. So hardware and drivers are not the issue. I reinstalled iTunes with a Vista 64 bit install that I found online which appeared to work temporarily then ultimately I ended up back where I started.
I actually switched to Windows (from linux) because I got tired of the VirtualBox method. Quite ironic that I am still facing the same issue.
On top of the not being able to sync properly from Windows 7 64 bit. Everytime I try I have to put in hours of work to get my Ipod back to working order as iTunes only allows you to sync with one computer and is slower that snail poop in January. In order to try again I have to be willing to commit to the problems that I am most likely to encounter.
    So my questions are
    1. Does anyone have a clue why Apple has not fixed this issue? or is there a solution I don't know about?
    2. Is there an easier way to attempt a fix that does not require me to re organize my 70+ apps on my iPod?
P.S. I do not have an intel based chipset as that seems to have been an issue for others. I have
    ASUS M2V VIA K8T890 AM2 Mother Board
    CPU AMD|A64 X2 4600+
    VGA EVGA GF 7300GT
Have tried direct to MB USB and through powered Hub

Are you sure that you downloaded the 64 bit version and not the 32 bit version?  I would delete the download and try again.  You also might want to look at the iTunes forum since youu have an iTunes problem and not an iPod problem.

  • IPod touch 2nd gen software downgrade?

I have an iPod touch 2nd gen. 8GB. It's current version is 4.2.1. I upgraded using my brother's mac. My mac can no longer update it's own software therefore not allowing me to update my iTunes to iTunes 10. I was wondering if there is a way for me to down grade my iPod so that I can use it on my own computer. I have already tried downloading iTunes 10, but can not run the program because of my computer's software being so far behind. I do not want to have to purchase another computer, I just want to know if it's possible to downgrade my iPod touch. If anyone has possible solutions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Upgrade the OSX on the Mac.  If it is an Intel Mac then the $29 Snow Leopard upgrade disk will do a full install. Otherwise you need the Leopard disk.  You can purchase it from Apple for $129 but you have to order it via phone since it is not listed in the on-line store.

  • Re: iPod 2nd gen wifi connectivity issue

my 2nd gen ipod touch is not displaying any available network choices, not even locked ones around me. I know this is an ipod issue because my iphone is displaying all choices. Please help, thx.

I think I may be on to something. I have stopped getting the faulty signals when I changed my wireless channel to another one. However I then started disconnecting and reconnecting to my network quite a bit, sometimes asking for our password again. What I noticed is in June I added security to our old router and the problems began there but not as bad as they were yesterday. When we got the new router I added security right away in the form of WPA2-PSK AES only. I just now changed that to WPA-PSK TKIP + WPA2-PSK AES and it seems to have stopped disconnecting and reconnecting three times a minute. I will play around with it more and report back, I will say I've noticed a slight drop in signal but we'll see how it all works out. If anyone knows more about this than me please let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Oracle 9i database software upgrade issue with standby (Dataguard) database

    All,
I have encountered a problem in upgrading the Oracle software on 2 of our databases in-house. The databases in question here are using Dataguard, so one is set to primary and one is set to standby. The version that they are/were starting at is 9.2.0.7.
I was able to install and complete the 9.2.0.8 and 9.2.0.8 OCT CPU patches on the primary database, however when I moved to working on the standby database, I am got an error when attempting to follow step 6 of the post installation tasks:
    Enter the following SQL*Plus commands:
    SQL> STARTUP MIGRATE
    SQL> SPOOL patch.log
    SQL> @ORACLE_BASE\ORACLE_HOME\rdbms\admin\catpatch.sql
    SQL> SPOOL OFF
(Please note that this is my first experience with working with Dataguard, so my methods in updating might have been a bit off-base.)
If I attempt to startup the standby database in MIGRADE mode, I get the following error (which is expected):
ORA-01666: controlfile is for a standby database
If I try to run the catpatch.sql script, even after mounting the database in standby mode, I receive the additional error:
ORA-01219: database not open: queries allowed on fixed tables/views only
My question here is, how do I get the standby database to allow me to finish the software upgrade process, so that both versions of Oracle match on the primary and standby databases? :)
(I did try some research on Metalink, but only found an article detailing how to upgrade your dataguard database from 9i to 10g, which did not look especially helpful in this case...)
    Thank you!
    -Sabrina

Depending on the kind of Dataguard you currently have, physical or logical, there are two useful metalinks notes:

  • Software upgrade issues

i just purchased the online software upgrade from 1.x to 2.x how long should this take??? my ipod and itunes have been sitting there, apparently frozen, for almost 2 hours as of this post

Check your date ect to make sure its correct, that stuff can mess up digital signatures. If that dosnt help try the manual package download from the apple website and we can hope that will fix it for the future and is not just a stop gap.

    Hello crownmx01
It is always recommended to troubleshoot software/hardware/network issues with reset BlackBerry phones first.
    KB02141 Reset a BlackBerry smartphone
If the problem persist, then you need to make a call your mobile service provider to consult this network issue.
Good luck and let us know.

  • Ipod 2nd gen - tv cable issue

I have the relevant composite AV Cable for my ipod, it used to work fine now all of a sudden I can only get sound and no picture. I have used the red, yellow and white plugs straight into the tv and also used a scart but to no avail. I now get a msg that it does not support this software.  Is this due to an upgrade on the itunes site for my ipod ? or is this pretty much a standard issue with ipods and cannot be fixed

    To update
The Settings>General>Software Update comes with iOS 5 and later.

  • Lumia 620 software upgrade issues

    Hi,
My Nokia lumia 620 with windows8 was upgraded to the latest software (amber, i guess) and after this the touchscreen stopped working. The touchscreen was recently replaced.
    * Is there a way to go back to the previous version of software (where the touchscreen was accessible)
    * Is there a new upgrade planned to resolve the touchscreen problem.

Was the display repalced by an authorised Nokia care Centre ?
Try a Soft Reset (Press Power + Volume(down) keys until the phone vibrates (about 8-10 seconds). Phone will reboot...) and see if the problem gets resolved ..
Also confirm that all the System applications are upto date. You may use THIS application to check..
BTW there is no way to Roll Back the Firmware.

  • Z30 software upgrade issue

I installed the latest software update on my Z30 yesterday.  Everything went according to plan and I rebooted the phone when instructed.  Since then I have not been able to restart the phone.
Since I backed up the phone before updating the software, I used BB link in an attempt to reset the phone to its factory settings and start over.  Software install gets to 97% compelte and then gives me the message "software update encountered an error".  I hit the ok button and then select Reload again and the installation times out at 97% again.  I have done this at least 20 times with no success.  I have tried this on three different computers and the problem is always the same.
    Any ideas?

So the software won't finish downloading.  Sounds like a server issue to me and not a device issue.  I would suggesting taking matters into your own hands.  Install the version that's was leaked a few weeks ago on the Internet.  It's the same version as the official one Verizon is rolling out.  Here are some instructions. Disregard step one since you can't make a backup.
    1. Connect your device to your PC and make a full backup with BB Link.
    2. Download the correct autoloader for your device from the first post in the thread linked below. You need to know your full model number (i.e. STL100-1 (or -2, -3, -4) which can be found in Settings >About. Make sure you download the one for your model that contains the radio file.
    10.2.1.1925 OS: http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-leaked-beta-os-f395/lengend-presents-10-2-1-1925-all-q-z-887047/
Close Link and leave the device connected.
Double click on the autoloader you downloaded.
The process should take around 5 minutes or so. when it's done, you'll need to complete the startup process before you can connect to Link and restore data.
When you're done you can restore your backup, though I recommend NOT restoring your Settings backup as it's best to start clean with this new OS but it's up to you. You may experience small bugs here and there from restoring the Settings portion of the backup. Media and Application data seem to be OK to restore.
    That's it.

    2. If your issue has been solved, please resolve it by marking the post "Solution?" which solved it for you!

  • Shuffle 2nd Gen Reset Utility issues?

I have a second generation iPod shuffle that I haven't used in years and when I go to plug it in, iTunes tells me I need to do some iPod Reset Utility, then I click More Information and it directs me to this page:
    About iPod Reset Utility
When I click the link to download the necessary software
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/iPod_Reset_Utility_1_0_4_for_Windows
    "We're sorry. (404)"
Where can I go to get the reset utility set up download?

    Hi xBlaine,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that when you connect your iPod shuffle (2nd generation) to your computer you are prompted to run the Reset Utility but the link is no longer active. What I would suggest in this situation would be the steps located in the attached article. The article outlines how to reset, restart, reinstall, and restore the iPod.

  • Blackberry 10 OS software upgrade issues (10.3.1.1565)

I've upgraded my OS to 10.3.1.1565 and I've somehow lost the 'Speed Dial' function?
The keypresses don't work for the previuous speed dial contact and 'Spped Dial' no longer appears in my 'Settings'
The speed dial 'star' appears in the centre of the menu when I swipe down from the top, but nothing happens when I touch it, other than it disappears
Have tried a hard reset but no different
Any ideas as this is one of my most used funtions?

    1)
when in the Phone app, you can choose to display your favourite contacts at the top of the screen. Those contacts will appear as boxes with the contact picture.
To show or hide those favourites, swipe down and tap on the star.
Yes I agree, the star is named "Speed Dial" instead of "Favourite contacts".
    2)
to setup the speed dial keys, it's somewhere else:
from the home screen, swipe down and go to the settings. Choose the category "Shortcuts and Speed Dial".

  • Itunes 7.0.2 won't update my ipod 2nd gen. software

I purchased an ipod silver 2gb and it came with ipod software 1.1.1. I downloaded and installed itunes 7.0.2 and the it won't update my ipod to the 1.2 or greater version required for nike+.
I tried the updates but it only says that the itunes 7.0.2 version is the latest version. The summary of the ipod indicates that the ipod software installed in the ipod is version 1.1.1.
If tried download ipod software version 1.3 but the download at the apple websit only provide for the free download of itunes version 7.0.2.
What can I do to update my ipod software and be able to instal nike+?

did you consult and troubleshoot with any of the many helpful information here.
    http://www.apple.com/support/nikeplus/
Try connecting your ipod to the itunes and see if it recognizes nikeplus there. If not then you can also try the 5 r's
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/
Then if that doesnt work then go to your ipod settings and select about and see what firmware version your using on the ipod.

  • Iphone 4 software upgrade issue

When I try to update the software on my iphone 4 through itunes, using a USB cable, I am getting an error after about 10 minutes that the connection is timing out.

OK. The reason I ask is because if you have iOS 5.0, you can perform the update from the phone instead of iTunes. To see what you have, go to Settings > General > About > Software Version.
