2nd Gen Vado HD Lock-Up from Express Charging

I have managed to recreate this problem every single time I have used the express charge feature so far. I just bought my Vado HD directly from Creative this week and it has the newest firmware on it already.
What happens is that while all things seem fine with normal charging, if I use express charging and it finishes a full charge (makes the screen turn on and stay on) its permanently stuck this way. No button presses will change it, the power button will not work. Nothing short of removing the battery gets it back to an operational state.
This is not o.k. for me since I have to remove the silicone case to do that and also my unit probably has a defecti've battery door latch, it takes absolute inhuman strength to push the release latch in so that the battery door can come off, so much force that I am affraid it will break every time I have had to do this.
I searched the forums well and checked all the first 5 or 6 pages for a similar topic and did not find one. So I do not think this is a known and acknowledged problem but its a rather odd issue for a unit to be broken in this manner so I wonder if its not a firmware bug.
Please let me know if this is a known issue and a fix is on the way or if my unit is considered defecti've and needs to be RMA'ed.

Not sure of the lock up problem, but I have the same problem with my battery door on my st generation HD. I use a dime to gently pry open the door and that seems to work.

When using 2nd gen Apple TV with provided remote, I can only scroll through items or use on-screen keyboard for a few moments at a time, and then the remote seems to lock up. After a few seconds, I can move around again, but the cycle continues.
I can type a few words with on-screen keyboard or scroll through a handful of items at a time before the remote seems to lock up and not allow me to move around.

  • 2nd gen shuffle blinks orange 3x then doesnt charge, isnt detected

I have had and used my Ipod Shuffle for a couple months now and I go to plug my Ipod Shuffle into the USB dock and the Ipod light blinks orange three times and nothing happens after that. The Ipod is not detected by my computer or by Itunes. The Ipod does not charge at all. Because the Ipod is not detected by Itunes or anything else for that matter, I can't upload or organize any of my songs on the Ipod. I have tried all of the solutions I can find related to Apple and Ipod. None have worked. I uninstalled Itunes from my computer and then reinstalled it and nothing happened. I want to find the answer to my pesky problem because I don't want to have to buy another MP3 player. Please help me fix this problem. Any ideas or suggestions?

I had the exact problem occur with a 2nd gen shuffle less than 24 hours old. I had just bought my kids each one of these. After loading them both with songs, one of them would no longer be recognized by either of my PC's. When plugged in to the docking station, the light on the ipod would blink orange 3x, and then, nothing. The PC would not play the normal something-was-just-plugged-into-the-USB-port sound. The other shuffle connected fine, using the same USB port and docking station. Strange enough, the ipod that refused to be recognized would still play the music that had already been loaded before the problem started. However, since it was not being recognized by the PC or iTunes, I figured it was not going to take a charge, and would just be a matter of 12-14 hours before the thing was dead for good. I took it back to Best Buy and exchanged it for a new one. This time I purchased the 2-year replacement contract (something I rarely do). Probably a good bet, as a couple of hours later, the sound of the newly-replaced shuffle cuts in and out when the headphone wire is touched. I wonder how many of these cute little guys my kids will go through in the next two years...

  • Ipod Touch 2nd gen won't sync, show up, or charge

The title says it all. An ipod touch of mine (8g 2nd gen touch) will not turn on, respond to any button commands, show up in itunes, and barely charge. My wall charger's light will light up (indicating it is charging), but it will not do anything. I'm pretty sure there have been many questions like this, but im lazy and can someone help me in this specific case?
    thannks.

i have tried there, but its not that kind of problem. believe it or not i have a decent share of experience with ipods and am great at programming and other electronics. the screen is totally black. no connect to itunes, or battery low. black black. its really weird.

  • 2nd Gen iPod Touch (MB533LL) Upgrade from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3

    I have a 2nd Generation iPod Touch (model MB533LL) running iOS 3.1.2.
Is it possible to upgrade it to 3.1.3? There is one app that i want to run which requires 3.1.3.
I found some firmware for 3.1.3 online, but when I try to install it I get an iTunes Restore Error 3194.
    Thanks.

Interesting. I am definitely upgrading from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3.
Here is the updater log, in case it helps.

  • I have 2nd gen iPod nano with songs from iTunes but also burnt from CDs. I now have a new laptop currently without iTunes or any music on. Is there anyway for me to connect the iPod to iTunes on the laptop and not loose all of the songs on it?

Pretty much as it says above. I don't want to loose all my old songs that weren't downloaded and am wondering if there's anyway that I can make sure there safe to connect it to a new laptop with no music on at present.
Any help or advice would be great :-)
    Thanks

Thanks for trying, no it did not help. The article describes getting song from apple devices to PC, not the other way around. I will try ringing tech support tomorrow.
    Thanks anyway.

  • My iPod Touch 2nd Gen won't sync music from my computer.

I connect my iPod to iTunes and it says "The iPod cannot be synced. An unknown error has occured (13019)."
Photos, apps, movies, and such can all be changed and synced, but audio files can't. I can put a song on the iPod and iTunes will that it's been added, display it amoung my other music, but when it doesn't actually appear on the iPod itself.
All my software in update-to-date, I've tried using different cords to connect my iPod to the computer, and I've restarted the iPod several times.

  • My 2nd Gen IPad won't turn on or charge. Help?!

I bought a new wall charger with the correct power to get it to charge but even after having it plugged in over night it still wouldn't turn on. I also tried to restart it by holding down the home and power buttons. Still nothing. If I hold down the power button the charge signal will come up saying it needs to be plugged it but goes right off. I don't know what to do.

your charge port is bad, go to an Apple Store or call 800.MY.APPLE and if it is still under the warranty they will repair it at no charge.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen in the colour GOLD ???

dear community, i´m just wondering about a shuffle 2nd gen in the colour GOLD. i bought it new and sealed in the usa via ebay but couldn´t find any information that apple ever produced the 2nd gen ipod shuffle in this colour. it isn´t gold plated but "gold coloured" (like the silver one but in gold ). can anyone tell me something about this item. thanks a lot thomas

These web pages show all the 2nd gen iPod shuffle colors

The closest one to "gold" is the orange one on the first link above.
Edit:  But I do see some when I search on "gold ipod shuffle 2nd gen" that look distinctly different from the orange one.

Not here I'm afraid. This is the *Mac OS X Technologies > iSync* forum, which has nothing to do with syncing iPod touch (not iTouch) to Windows PCs.

  • Can I use 3rd gen cable to sync/charge 2nd gen

We have a 2nd Gen shuffle that lost it's docking charger. Rather than buy one I'd rather get a new 3rd gen and have both use the same cable. The connectors look the same, can this be done?

NO! The 3rd Gen connector is DIFFERENT from the the 2nd Gen Dock connector in the meaning of the "rings" ...

  • 2nd gen ipod touch obsolete?

ever since earlier this year, I have been noticing that more iOS application updates are no longer being written for iOS 4. this wasn't a major concern until a week ago, when I started noticing that the number of updates that were incompatible with my 2nd gen ipod touch had gone from 4 to 13 within 8 days of each other. since there looks to be fewer and fewer apps that will run under iOS 4, I have gotten to wondering about my current iPod. A few months ago, my 2nd gen iPod Touch was diagnosed by the genius bar in SF. the employee who ran the tests told me that my iPod was having some hardware issues, and a replacement would cost me $99. I really didn't see the point in doing anything at the time, but, if I am not going to be able to use the iPod as I have been doing for the past 3.75 years, then it might be time to replace it. I know that apple will discontinue support for iOS 4 completely before too long, and I don't want to be stuck with an ancient ipod. I was stuck with an ancient ibook g4 for 7 years prior to getting my current MacBookPro. any suggestions or feedback would be greatly welcomed! thanks

"Do we simply toss them out?"
    No.
"I think that this is a little ridiculous"
Since you don't just "throw them out", there is no "ridiculousness".
"I paid for a product that I can no longer use simply because it is older."
Baloney.  You can use the product, until it's no longer operational.  If it breaks, you can have it repaired outside of the warranty.
