I bought my 2nd hand iPhone 4s at last years , yersterday 3/12/2013 i upgrade my phone 7.0.1 ver to 7.0.4 ver . When i finish the upgrade , my iPhone change to before 1st user Apple ID . I have find & seen apple support and i cant find back 1st user ! How i can do now ? And my iPhone got my project need use my work !
Please any iPhone user or teachnician help me !

you can try restoring.. but if that doesn't work then it would be useless. The original owner would have to remove the device from their icloud account by going to icloud.com

You can import the contacts from SIM.

2nd Hand Iphone reverted to being activated by original owner

I purchased a 2nd hand iPhone 4 three years ago, it was unlocked and wiped etc. I activated it with my apple ID and used it without problem for for 3 years. I kept it updated with current OS. I resold the phone a week ago, so wiped it and sent it off to the new owner.
I then was contacted by them to say that they could not activate it because I had the device connected to my iCloud account. I checked my iCloud account and there are no devices listed there. Turns out it is not my account that the phone is trying to connect to but what I assume is the original owner fromm3 years ago!
What can I do? I don't have contact details for the original owner from 3 years ago. I son't understand why the phone has revented to thia old activation account when I have been using it fine.

Don't know what else to tell you:
Fact: Activation Lock requires that Find My Phone be turned on, & the phone cannot be erased or restored without first turning off Find My Phone. Turning off Find My Phone requires the Apple ID/Password that was first used to turn it on.
You state you purchased this phone 3 years ago & activated it with YOUR Apple ID. You also state that you erased this phone BEFORE selling it. Well, Activation Lock cannot be your issue if these two things are true & correct.

Have just bought a 2nd hand iphone 3g, which was unlocked. Have put in my old PAYG sim card (tesco) and managed to get contacts into iphone. Can make calls and texts as before. I already have an apple id and itunes 10 as I have a touch as well.

This iPhone was hacked to be unlocked, or it was officially unlocked by the carrier the iPhone was sold as carrier locked with when new?
If hacked to be unlocked, that could be the cause of the problem along with opening the iPhone up to major security problems.
Try restoring the iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone. If the iPhone was officially unlocked, this shouldn't be a problem which may resolve this problem and if not determine if there is a potential hardware problem with the iPhone.

It's either hand right or left.
I have the same issue myself. Not sure if it's b/c my fingers are too big or if I'm really missed the letter on the keyboard.

Registering a 2nd hand iPhone.

Hi I bought a 2nd hand iPhone for my daughter but I'm struggling to register it in any of our names. I have tried to add the serial number of the phone onto my list of apple products but it keeps saying the serial number is registered to another Apple ID. Can anyone give me any advice on how to register this phone in mine or my daughters name please?
I am trying to do this ASAP as I am aware now that a lot of people are selling there phones, claiming insurance & the phones are getting blocked.

You can try calling AppleCare, but I doubt that will help. The person who previously owned this phone needs to remove it from their support profile, something you can't do.
As far as protecting you from a scam, sorry, this won't help you in anyway.

2nd Hand iPhone HELPPP !!!!!!!

I brought a second hand iPhone from a friend and it had the 3.0 OS version and today I updated it to 4.1 and now I don't have no reception at all, I rang up o2 and on their system the sim is in working order and activated in the handset but I don't get no signal bars at all on my iPhone. I have tried restarting it, restoring it and everything else I can imagine but still no luck so what should I do?

Shame you did not read any of the warning signs with the upgrade to OS4. The older software for the 3G models worked better on 3.0. You may be able to downgrade again using a third party app (check out older threads for info on how to do that). But try installing the new OS4.0.2 and see if that rectify's and problems.

More Iphone 4s IOS 6 Problems

As many before me, I am having a terrible experience since downloading the IOS 6 update. I just got back to my office from my local store, and they could not fix the problem either. I have my phone set to automatically use Wifi on my home and office networks when I am at either place. Anywhere else is on 3G. Well since the IOS 6 update my phone is on 3G all the time, even at home and work. If I go to settings and look at WiFi, my home network is showing there with the check mark beside it as if its connected, but at the top of the phone it still says 3G. Same at work, when I get to my office my work WiFi network is showing with the check mark as if connected, but 3G is showing at the top of the phone. At my local store, they pulled up the WiFi on the settings and tried to connect as a guest to their store network. It did the same, showed their guest store network with check mark, 3G at the top of the phone. This IOS 6 has been a nightmare! It even changed my message settings to where I was not being notified of text messages when my phone was locked. I would pick my phone up after periods of non use and have 3 or 4 texts that I was never notified of by my tone. The guy at the store did fix that, but why would an update change the settings you have for your messages?? My wife's phone has notified her she has the IOS 6 update ready, but I have advised her to not do it at this point. Whats going on here APPLE!!

- try to reset and erase everything (settings> general> reset> erase all contents and settings (if it didnt work try)
- do Hard reset by holding home, power bottoms same time for 5 seconds (if it didnt work try)
- connect your iphone 4S to iTunes, in summery choose to restore iphone (iOS5 then download iOS 6 again as new) and if it didnt work
- contact apple

2nd hand iPhone 5s. Prompting for previous owners apple ID on restore.

I recently bought an iPhone 5S 2nd hand. I was told that the person selling it had recieved 2 for Christmas and so was selling one. I have since got the phone and noticed that although the previous owner had deleted messages, contacts etc he had evidently used it as his Apple ID was still logged in and call history, emails, photos and music was left on the device. I restored the iPhone so that I could wipe it and set it up for myself but on restore I am being asked for the previous owners Apple ID in order to proceed.
I now believe the previous owner has probably sold his own iPhone and then probably plans to claim it was lost / stolen so that he can get a new one on insurance. I have contacted the seller and asked for a refund / his Apple ID details but he has not replied to me.
Is there anything I can do about this?

Ah this is really depressing. I think the seller falls into both the idiot / scammer camp. I think he plans to claim it lost on insurance and therefore get a new phone while keeping the money he mad on the sale. I don't think he realised that I wouldn't be able to use the phone and therefore this fuss would be kicked up.
I've contacted the seller for a refund and said I'd have to contact the police if he didn't reply so hopefully he gets in touch so I don't have to go down this route but the fact I've yet to have a reply makes me think he is going to go quiet.
Luckily the emails he left on the phone include a CV with his contact details / address on so I'll be able to at least give the police further details. I've made it clear to the seller that I have these details so hopefully he'll come through.

Yes, Apple will replace the phone for US $229. Called an out of warranty replacement...Apple does not fix iPhones. Make an appointment at any Apple store.
