2nd HDD for Satellite P200-1FC

Is is possible to install a 2nd HDD in a Satellite P200-1FC (PSPB6E)? There is an empty bay, but no connector. Is it possible to purchase and install a connector so that a 2nd HDD can be fitted?

Very often discussed theme on this forum!
If there is no connector the upgrade is not possible. Notebook case is for all P200 the same. Some of them are delivered with 2 HDDs. Because of that you have found empty place for second HDD. The mainboard in your notebook is not prepared to work with 2 HDDs.
The same situation is on my P200D.

  • Satellite P200-1FC: CD/DVD drive will not start - error Code 10

My Satellite P200-1FC was purchased in January 2008 and preloaded with Vista Home Premium. The DVD/CD Drive is listed in device manager as "TSST corp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA Device".
At first the drive worked perfectly, but has recently refused to start. Device manager now shows it with a yellow exclamation mark and it's status is given as "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
Clicking check for solutions produces "could not load driver software" but no solution.
Searching similar questions in user forums suggests a use of a Microsoft Help & Support page headed "The CD drive or the DVD drive does not work as expected on a computer that you upgraded to Windows Vista".
However this involves modifying the registry! As a relative novice I am reluctant to do this unless I can find no easier way.
Must I bite the bullet and and enter this minefield, or is there a better way?

    >At first the drive worked perfectly, but has recently refused to start. Device manager now shows it with a yellow exclamation mark and it's status is given as "This device cannot start. (Code 10)".
This error is definitely caused by a wrong registry entry.
I had such error several times ago and I have solved it removing the lower and upper filters from these registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    Here are some steps how it worked on my Windows system;
    - I removed the CD/DVD drive from the device manager
    - Then edited the registry as described above
    - Rebooted the notebook
Im sure it will help you too.

  • Install 2nd HDD in Satellite S55 Laptop

How to install 2nd HDD in Satellite S55 Laptop ?

I doubt there is enough space to install another HDD. You can replace your DVD/CD-Rom with HDD Caddy to install another HDD if you are willing to get rid of DVD/CD-Rom.
Search for "Satellite S55 hdd caddy" from Google, for an example: http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=539
Maybe you can find them cheaper or ebay...

  • New Driver Alert 22 May 2008 - Satellite P200-1FC

A TEMPO alert asked me to download vap-20080109135106.zip but when run it I get no further than an error message RegDBGetItem failed (1). Looking in the download I see nothing newer than year 2007. Should I just ignore this 'update'? .....and, yes, I ran the correct button version.

    Hello
If you want to install latest version 1.1.7 the preinstalled one must be removed at first. I have installed this version on my Satellite P200D and flash cards are shown much faster than before (old VAP version).
Because of that I recommend you to remove preinstalled version and install version 1.1.7. I have checked Toshiba download page and this version is listed for your Satellite P200-1FC (PSPB6E).
    Bye and good luck!

  • Re: How to reset Satellite P200-1FC upgraded to 7

    Hi there,
Is it possible to reset my Satellite P200-1FC that came with Vista, with the product recovery disc if I have upgraded to windows 7?
The problem is incredibly slow internet connection where other laptops all work fine - is this likely to help anyway?
    Many thanks

    Hi Tilda,
Yes, its no problem to restore you notebook to factory settings with Toshiba recovery disk. This can be done every time and how often you want and matter what operating system is installed.
So insert the recovery disk and follow the screen instructions to get out of box settings back :)

  • Is Power Saver driver available for Satellite P200-1FJ

Is there a Power Saver Utility and driver for Satellite P200-1FJ to extend the battery time or optimize it's performance ?

    Hi
As Im not completely mistaken the Satellite P200-1FJ must belongs to the PSPB3E series.
The Toshiba Power Saver is available for the Windows XP OS. I found it on the Toshibas driver website and its actually a 7.03.07C version.
For Windows Vista OS you will find the Value Added Package. This package contains a TOSHIBA Power Saver. It controls power consumption by switching to optimum power settings, based on whether the machine is plugged in or on battery power, and based on the remaining battery power.
After the installation of VAP you could find these settings in the Vista power options.
Check control panel -> Power Options
On the left you should see a option called Energy save mode. Check it.
In this mode you could change some power option in change advanced power settings.

  • Re: Satellite P200-1FC - What DVD writers are compatible

Toshiba Satellite P200-1FC - need advice as what to buy to replace dvd writer which is not burning.
    So going to replace it.
    Thank you ricky

    Hi
You need an compatible one due to the different master/slave/c-sel settings.
Im not quite sure what drives could be supported but in my user manual which was preinstalled on my notebook (unfortunately not P200) I could find a list of compatible drives. Maybe your user manual contains the similar list
But if you will not find any details about the compatible media in you user manual then you could contact the authorized service provider in your country and could order such ODD.

  • Satellite P200-1FC - CD/DVD doesn't read disks

I have a Satellite P200-1FC and the "TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L632D ATA Device won't read CDs or DVDs and don't respond. The device manager shows this device is working properly.
    Can you please help?

    Hi!
Try to remove the CD/DVD drive from device manger and restart the notebook. Does it work?
If not you should try to remove the upper and lower filters:
    1) Run Regedit (Start -> Run -> Regedit)
    2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    3) In the right pane, delete the "UpperFilters" key, and delete the "LowerFilters" key.
    4) Reboot.

  • Can I build in second HDD on Satellite P200-1I4?

    Hi!
First of all sorry for my bad English. =((
I have a toshiba SATELLITE P200-1I4 and question is: can I install one more (additional) HDD. Or there is only one SATA slot in this laptop? Unfortunately laptop is not near me now, and I can't remove back panel and see it.
On Toshiba web site I can not find information about it.
    Some more information:
    SATELLITE P200-1I4
    S/N: z7269306k - M/N: PSPB3E-0J601MRU
Thanks, and i am hope all written above is understandable. =)

    Hi
I agree with the user above. Please have a look under the cover for second HDD slot to check if there is a second HDD connector or not. This takes only few minutes.
If yes you can ask your favorite computer store to get an additional HDD.

  • Need new HDD for Satellite L300-1BD

    Hey,
the HDD in my Toshiba Satellite laptop isn't working anymore.
So I'm going to buy a new one today but which one do i need? Like how many inch? And is it a SATA connection or something?
Could someone please tell me to what i have to look when I buy a new HDD for this laptop

    Hello Vivendi
One thing is strange to me: I presume that your L300 notebook is pretty new one and I don't understand why you want to buy new HDD. Is warranty still valid?
Please check it. If the warranty is still valid contact nearest authorized service provider and I am sure you will get replacement for free.
If you want to buy it I also presume you want to replace it alone. So, remove the old HDD and on the white label you will find all necessary information about HDD.
Anyway, you need 2,5 SATA HDD.

  • Re: Some questions regarding the Satellite P200-1FC

    Hi folks,
my trusty laptop has died and I need a new one. The P200-1FC seems to fit the bill, and I have a few questions that I hope this is the right place for.
Is there a hardware switch (or key combo) to inactivate the touch pad? Is there an indicator of the state of the touchpad?
Is there a hardware switch to inactivate the wireless networking components?
Is it possible to add physical memory to the dedicated graphics card?
I know you can filch memory from system to increase that available for graphics operations, but does it make more sense to add system memory or to add graphics memory.
What's the loadout for the system memory slots in base factory config with 2GB RAM? Are there 4 slots or 2? Are they all filled?
Just how difficult is it to "downgrade" the machine to XP? Are there XP drivers available for all the components?
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hi
    Im not P200 owner but I will try to answer your questions;
    > Is there a hardware switch (or key combo) to inactivate the touch pad?
Yes, the FN+F9 key combination should enable and disable the touchpad!
    > Is there an indicator of the state of the touchpad?
Well, in the task bar you should get an notification icon if the touchpad was disabled
    > Is there a hardware switch to inactivate the wireless networking components?
Yes, the WLan switch is available at the notebooks side (probably on the front side).
    > Is it possible to add physical memory to the dedicated graphics card?
No, the graphic card supports an own local cache memory. The graphic cards support also hyper memory. This hyper memory depends on amount of the main memory. Total Video Memory is sum of local cache and Hyper Memory.
But once again; physical memory cannot be added!
    > What's the load out for the system memory slots in base factory config with 2GB RAM? Are there 4 slots or 2? Are they all filled?
There are 2 memory slots and the notebook was delivered with 2x1024MB modules.
The notebook supports max 4GB of memory but as far as I know the Windows 32bit recognizes only 3.02GB because of the 32bit OS limitation!
    > Just how difficult is it to "downgrade" the machine to XP? Are there XP drivers available for all the components?
Its not difficult to downgrade the notebook to the XP OS.
    On the Toshiba site
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU
you should find all XP drivers for the P200 PSPB6

  • Add 2nd HDD for DV7-4190SD With right cable length

    Good day people,
I have a question about adding a second harddrive to my DV7-4190SD notebook.
I searched a long time now but it seems to be hard to find the 100% correct answer.
I want to ad a second hdd to my machine, And according to the service manual from my notebook I have to order replacement part 605415-001.
The description for this part is:
    Hard Drive Hardware Kit
(includes left and right bracket rails, connector cable, Mylar coverwith tab, 4 screws, and 4 rubber isolators)
I just want to know if this is the correct part? The cable wich comes with the 1st HDD is short, the cable that must meet the 2nd HDD must be a lot longer.
Does this part from HP (605415-001) comes with two cables? (For the 1st and 2nd HDD? because the bracket for the 1st HDD has the same part number....)
It is also welcome that somebody who had the same problem and has it solved now that he/she pin me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance for the reply's.

I dont know about the HP parts but I can refer you to another more reasonably priced place to purchase and investigate your situation. I have added a second drive to my DV7 already and bought my kit here.
NewmodeUS, Hard Drive Caddys for Notebooks
Their kits come as complete as HP ones for a fraction of price.

  • Need NVIDIA WXP display driver for Satellite P200

    Hello
I have a problem with installing Display Drivers on Setellite P200-10C.
I install OS Windows XP and can't find drivers for NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600.
On this site there is only windows vista driver. On nVidia official site I have'n found any drivers for this device.
    Can you help me?

http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-020683.htm has working xp video drivers, Intel 945 express chip set family is the video processor in the Satellite P200. Just for reference the intel video driver worked on my Satellite P200-RT5 part number pspboc-rt508c
The drivers you downloaded from nvidia are likely not working for you because instead of a nvidia or ati, you have an Intel graphics card. You have to try drivers for all three till one of them works.

    Hi,
Can somebody tell me where I can purchase a recovery disk for formatting my satellite P200-113, or is there any place to buy it in South Africa?

    Hello

Other way contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider. They can order it for you.

  • How to obtain drivers for Satellite P200 PSPB6A

    Satellite P200 PSPB6A-OCSO4M.
I have not updated drivers since I purchased the laptop seveal years.
Didn't know I had to - pardon ignorance.
How do I go about it please?

    Hi
Its not necessary to update any drivers (except of Windows security patches) if everything is running properly!!!
Why you want to update the driver? Just because newer version is available???
My notebook is three years old I install only the Windows patches and fixes. I dont touch any drivers because I follow always this; never touch a running system ;)
PS: Your notebook seems to belong to Toshiba Australian series and therefore the drivers should be available on Toshiba Australian page.
