2nd Monitor Screen Capture

I have been using Captivate 8 for a few weeks. The first week, everything worked perfectly! Loved it. Then, for some reason, it quit recognizing my 2nd screen. It would no longer capture anything from there. I have to more everything over to my #1 screen for it work, which it does well and I can get what I need. The settings remain the same from screen 1 to screen 2, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Does anyone have any ideas?
A colleague is having the same problem, by the way.  We are going to be doing A LOT of recording, it would be great if we could use multiple screens.
Thanks, everyone.

I am experiencing the same issue -- except that I am a new user of Captivate 8 and from the first day I used the application, I was unable to record anything on a screen other than my primary screen. At first, I thought it wasn't recording at all, but via research in the forum, I noticed that multiple monitors seemed to be an issue, and I tested.  Only the primary monitor will record.
I have a laptop with a docking station, and 2 other monitors.  One of the monitors is designated at the primary screen.
Here's what happens... I set up the recording and drag the red box to my second monitor, which has the application I want to record.  I click around, and nothing happens.  When I click back on the Captivate icon (on the primary screen), a single screen shot is taken - FROM THE SECOND MONITOR - and recorded into the Captivate module.
So, it isn't as though it can't find the monitor.  It isn't recognizing any clicks on the screen.  I am able to take screen shots manually, but that's a pain during a software simulation.  Too easy to forget a step!

  • Import Box comes up on my right (2nd Monitor) Screen

I have 2 monitors set up to use in FCP. My left screen is my main screen and my right screen is my 2nd monitor that I put the Browser on. When I go to Import files and the box comes up and asks me to choose a file, it appears on my left screen. I want it to appear on my right screen. I had it like this on my old Mac. How can I get the import box to appear on my right screen?
I am now using a Mac Pro with Snow Leopard using FCS 2.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi again,
I just tried what you said to try and it still did not work. I went to the Browser, right clicked and went to "Import Files." The Dialog box appeared and I moved it over to the Left Screen and then I found the file I wanted to import, and pressed choose. The file went into the browser. I went to import another file and the Dialog box appeared on the Right Monitor again.
Is there a setting in Snow Leopard Preferences or in Final Cut that I have to change?
    Thanks in advance

  • Using 2 monitors. I can't get my Layers Pallet to move to the 2nd monitor

I'm using 2 monitors. I can't get my Layers Pallet to move to the 2nd monitor screen. It is simply locked to the right side of my 1st monitor. A solution would be great. Sorry if it's a noob question.
    Thanks for your time.

No problem. We've all had newbie questions at one time or another.
However, I am going to have to put on my clairvoyant hat and guess you are running Photoshop 10.0.1 (CS3). :/
In CS3, do NOT attempt to move the palette well, i.e. the dark gray zone above the palettes. That you cannot move.
Instead, grab each palette individually by the light gray bar just at the top of each palette.

  • Organizer 11 flashes continuously in 2nd monitor?

I just installed the trial version of Premiere Elements 11, which works fine on my primary monitor, but when I place Organizer on the 2nd monitor, the 2nd monitor screen flashes continuously.  Using Windows 7 with all updates; ATI Radeon HD 4290 with currrent drivers.  All other software, including other Adobe products, work fine on second monitor.  Searched Adobe site and Google without success.  Frustrated in Virginia.

    Welcome to the forum.
I see similar, even with the latest nVidia video driver, BUT in my case, my XP-Pro is the limiting factor. nVidia has not released an updated driver for my GeForce 8800M GTX chip FOR that OS.
With Win7, I would have thought that the latest Catalyst driver for your AMD/ATI card would not exhibit that flashing. However, there have been some recent posts (mostly to the Photoshop forum) on some recent issues with the latest AMD/ATI Catalyst drivers, and especially with PS CS 6. What is the Catalyst version that you have installed? In many of those display issue threads in the PS forum, the "fix" was to roll back to an earlier version. Also, are your two displays the exact same, with the exact same resolution?
PrE 11 (and PS CS 6, PrPro CS 6 and After Effects CS 6) relies more heavily on the video driver, than most other programs will.
In my case, my display is perfect with older PrE, PrPro PS and AE versions, but I get the flashing (and trails) in PrE 11. My fix will be to update my OS on the laptop (though a new laptop is being shipped with Win7), since nVidia has ceased support for my XP-Pro and that nVidia chip.
    Good luck,

  • Can't run flash player in full screen on 2nd monitor

Hi all! I have a laptop with dual video displays. The main
display is the laptop's LCD and the 2nd display is a 19" LCD
connected via VGA cable. I want to let a Flash movie loop endlessly
on the second monitor while I continue to work on the laptop. When
I drag Flash Player 8 over to the 2nd monitor and start the movie,
I can hit maxmize and it will take up the entire 2nd montior as it
should...with the file options and boarder around as expected. I
then hit Ctrl-F to go full screen and it snaps directly to the
laptop's primary monitor. I tried it at work where my desktop has 2
displays and the same thing happens. I need to force Flash player
to run full screen on the 2nd monitor and cannot find a way to
accomplish this. Any help is appreciated because it's driving me
nuts. I can always make the external monitor my primary but then
the start button and all my icons move there too and that is not
    acceptable. Thanx!

Seriously? No one has any thoughts about this? I can't
believe I would be the first to come across this issue.

  • Screen resolution of 2nd monitor

    Dear all,
i am working on an application which uses 2 monitors.
i have a VI which measures the screen resolution of the screen.
i want to know the screen resolution of the 2nd monitor.
how can i get that ?
    thanks,
    ritesh
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You could use an app property node, set to display -> AllMonitors. Index this with an array and unbundle the result. This will give info on the bounds of the screen. By subtracting left from right and top from bottom,. you can get the size of the screen.

  • Strange behaviour of 2nd monitor full screen image

    Hi,
Since last night, my LR5 is starting to behave very strangely with my 2nd monitor image. My 2nd monitor has been set to "Show, Full Screen and Loupe-Normal", and I have always been using this two monitor set up to show my image in full screen mode (since LR4) without problems. But since last night, the 2nd monitor image starts to minimize itself randomly. If I click the 2nd monitor icon (on the bottom left of main screen) it comes back. Then when I moven to the next photo, it may disappear (minimize) again. It is very frustrating. I never changed any of my settings. Is there anything that I missed? What makes the 2nd monitor image go away? Anybody experienced the same phenomenom?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Main screen window grew onto 2nd monitor

Help. I was working away and my main screen grew into 1/3 of my 2nd monitor. I've had my Imac for 2 years and never had a problem. Now I'm dead. I lowered the settings in Preferences. It made the window smaller, but the MAIN background is still larger than the screen size. Every time I open another program, it's onto the second monitor by 1/3. I've tried everything.

is funny because the touch screen still work  ,i can se working in my 2nd monitor!!!
can somebody tell me what to do please?
    i tried Fn+F4 and  doesn't work
the computer didnt have OS ,i had to install windows from my 2nd monitor

In win7 there is a shortcut to alter the display (WINKEY+P). Try use this. If not work, maybe a problem with the cable of the notebook display.

  • GT 610 2nd monitor pink screen

I've recently installed an MSI GT 610 graphics card and have set up 2 monitors.  The primary monitor is on the DVI-I port, the secondary on the D sub port has a pink colour cast. Greens won't show on the 2nd monitor.
I've swapped the monitors around and the problem is definitely with the output from the D sub port.
Is this a faulty card or is there a fix?

  • Dual monitors screen management after disconnecting 2nd monitor

I have a 2nd monitor attached to my iMac and if open an app Window on the 2nd monitor the next time I start the app the Window always defaults to the 2nd monitor (even if the 2nd monitor is turned off). Since I don't always remember that the app was opened on the 2nd monitor I would like a way to force the app to default to the primary monitor so I don't always need to turn on the 2nd monitor to move the Window to the primary monitor.
I have tried using spaces for this but it does not seem to work.

Oups.. I got it   Just switched the menu bar, when I shoud have switched displays... Mouse was moving to second monitor from left instead of right... Fixed.

  • Mapping an irregular shape to represent monitor screen

    Hi everyone,
I have captured movements inside an irregular shape and need to map it on the monitor's screen. The input space is a 2D shape with 4 boundaries and these boundaries are not straight lines but irregular and nonlinear. The 2nd space is simply a 2D screen i.e. cursor position on the monitor screen. Maybe, I can use some kind of stretching out or stretching down function or perhaps a combination of both to cover the entire screen. I want this irregular quadrilateral to represent the monitor screen. Another difficulty is that the input space can be different each time and is not unique but I will always have the 4 corners and boundary of the input space.
I appreciate your thoughts on this,
    Elnaz

Yeah it seems like what is probably happening is the magnetic fields created by the sensors are interfering with each other, creating the distortion you see. In short, there are some tools available in LabVIEW that can help you do this, but they are only available in separate toolkits (see here). In particular, the IMAQ (Image Acquisition) toolkit has some calibration functions that do what you are trying to do. This page and this page provide some information about using the calibration tools in IMAQ.
If you are trying to do this on your own though, you'll have to use some fairly complex logic. You would have to step through each coordinate data point to eventually develop a transfer function that shifts your coordinates into a rectangle. This forum has some information that may help you develop code for doing this. But the exact algorithm LabVIEW uses for this is proprietary.
Hopefully this will at least give you an idea where to start. Again, probably the easiest thing to do would use a toolkit.

  • MacBook Pro performance issues w/2nd monitor and FCP7

I have this MacBook Pro bought brand-new in January 2010:
      Model Name: MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier: MacBookPro5,2
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed: 3.06 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 1
      Total Number Of Cores: 2
      L2 Cache: 6 MB
      Memory: 8 GB
      Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz
and until today had never attached a second monitor to it. Today I hooked up my Samsung 24" to do some dual screen editing in Final Cut 7.0.3. I was unable to play back my video at full speed in the second monitor, and after a few seconds of skippy playback I'd get that error message about unable to play back video at full speed and to check my RT settings. I was using a Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter. My computer has no issues playing the video in the laptop's monitor at any resolution and any quality settings (I've never changed the RT settings or anything else in the menu ever but I tried every combination this time). I then tried using my TV as a 2nd monitor with an HDMI adapter. Same performance issues. I then tried my friend's newer 13" MBP 8,1 and it performed flawlessly with the same project & footage. I feel like my $3,000 computer should outperform a $1,200 one even if mine is a year and a half older. Any advice?
    Chris

Wow, you posted this perfectly to coincide with an identical problem, albeit using Logic Pro 9.1.5 rather than FCP.
Last week, I purchased a 23" external monitor to use alongside my "flagship" 2011 15" hi-res, 2.3 i7 Macbook Pro with 8Gb of RAM.
It is connected via a mini-DVI to D-sub analog (not that that should matter?) and all appeared fine.
The first issue I had was with my MBP's fan now running CONSTANTLY, when I have the second monitor attached. Even when the machine is completely idle.
When using the machine to record audio, this is a fairly hefty problem and not something I had anticipated - indeed why would I anticipate such a thing?
What is far, far worse though is that over the last few days I have had repeated problems with performance drop-outs and errors in Logic and I have trying to fathom out why. Realising that the only major system change made, was the above monitor connection, I ran some tests.
I restarted my MBP, no other apps were running and with my new 23" monitor attached acting as main display with MBP built in display on as secondary
I loaded up a fairly demanding Logic project which was hitting 40% to 60% CPU usage when using the built in MBP display last week
I ran activity monitor and had CPU usage history open
The above project now repeatedly overloads and playback halts in a given 8 bar section - with CPU at 80% most of the time
I disconnected the external display, no shut down, I just let the machine switch to the built in 15".
Started the same project, the same 8 bar section and hey presto - CPU usage back down to 40% to 60%
The above was reflected in the CPU usage history with the graph showing CPU use down by about a half, when running this Logic project WITHOUT the external display.
There is a very useful benchmark Logic project that has been used as a test by many users to gauge Logic performance on given Apple hardware.
The project has about 100 tracks pre-configured with CPU intensive plugins, designed to tax the CPU.
The idea is that you load up the project with tracks muted, press play and then unmute the tracks steadily until Logic us unable to play contiunously because of a system performance error.
On my MBP, with the external monitor NOT attached, I can play back around 50 of the audio tracks in this benchmark project.
With the monitor attached, I can get about 22 tracks playing.... which is actually a far worse a performance drop (-50% I think!?) than with the first example!
I did also try with just the external monitor attached and not the MBP display and performance was about 10% better than with dual monitors - so still extremely poor, to say the least.
This machine is the flagship MBP and has a dedicated AMD Radeon HD6750 GPU which should take care of most if not ALL graphics processing - I mean it's capable of running some pretty demanding games!
Putting aside the issue of constant fan noise, there is no reason AT ALL, why using an external monitor should tax the i7 CPU this way - it's not as though Logic is graphically demanding... far from it.
I am on 10.6.8, Logic 9.1.5, all apps up to date via "Software Update".
I will of course, be contacting Apple...

  • 2nd Monitor won't work

I bought a Pavillion p6210f last week with Win7 loaded to replace my Dell/Vista.  I was using two monitors with a VGA port and DVI port on the old PC, so I tried plugging in the same on my new HP and the DVI would not fit.  In examining the pins I found that, althought the Manual said DVI, but the plug has the pin/bar arrangement of a DVI-D.   So, I bought a VGAto DVI-D adapter and everything plugged in snuggly.  All pins and bar appear a match.
But, it won't work.  This is what is showing
NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller   HP RC Mirror Driver [Display adapter]
    NVIDIA GeForce 9100 [Display adapter]
    Acer P241W [Monitor] (24.0"vis, s/n LB4040014320, March 2008)the one working monitor....
After hours with the 800 support and hours of reversing the two Acer monitors, the DVI-D port is simply dead.  Anything plugged in to the VGA works fine, anything and any combination plugged into the DVI-D and cable switching etc. the 2nd monitor  is not even recoginized.  The NVIDIA control panel doesn't recognize it. The amber power light just stays that way and nothing ever flashes on the 2nd screen.  That is, it is the same as not plugging in at all.
I was less than pleased when 800 tech and supervisor suggested I take it to a repair center.  A week old?  I have put way too much setup and data transfer into the new HP to go back to the retailer for a replacement.
Techs didn't know, but could there be a DVI-X with the same pins that also fits

Eldric, did you update to the latest video driver from nVidia?  It sounds to me like a driver problem.  Update and let us know if that solves your problem.

  • Mac Pro 3.1 (early 2008) lags since I connected a 2nd monitor - HELP!!

    Hey guys,
I just bought a 2nd monitor and i have lags every 5 seconds which
last about half a second (feels like 10 or less fps during the lag).
It happens with all kinds of applications. It gets worse with multiple
applications openend at a time. The crazy thing is that it only occurs
when i start to use both monitors at the same time. When i e.g. use
Logic 9.1 and use one monitor everything runs nice and smoothely
but as soon as i move the window slowly to the 2nd monitor i can
see the window lagging while I'm moving it. This is really annoying
because it seems not every input from the mouse/keyboard gets
into the system and its not a smooth workflow at all.
I switched the monitors connections but it didn't help.
    Mac Pro (Early 2008) 2.8Ghz 8-core
    Snow Leopoard ( 10.6.2 )
6GB RAM (2x2gb kingston, and the usual 2x1gb)
    ATI 2600XT and 3 HDD.
    1 Monitor 24" LG W2452T running at 1920 x 1200
    1 Monitor 22" Samsung Syncmaster 2243BW running at 1680 x 1050
I really hope that you guys can help me out with this one.
What could be the problem? The ATI 2600XT should definately
be able to handle two screens at once with such little graphics
    in logic 9 ?!
I want to run Logic 9 and an analyzer software (Spectre from AudiofileEngineering)
at the same time but its not possible with the LAG.
The problem/lags also occur when i sync the monitors.
Would a 2nd graphics card be a solution? But as I said
before its not a graphics demanding application.
Is it a hardware or software problem?
    Summary:
    - The whole System lags (not just one monitor) when
I start to use both monitors (having application windows on both).
I've got minor lags when using only one display and leave the
2nd one with the desktop wallpaper clean.
    I tried:
-using only the 2x1 GB RAM which came with the mac pro
-using only the 2x2 GB Kingston RAM
Thank you in advance for your help guys!
    Rick

    Hey all,
I wasn't able to fix this yet.
I did everything I can think of. I even tried to wire
one monitor with a VGA cable but it didn't help.
I even have small lags when I am moving the Safari window
between the 2 monitors. Really little lags then but they
definitely are noticeable. I can make a video of that
if that would help someone understanding.
Hope there is someone out there who can help me with this.
    Thanks already for any advice!
    Cheers,
    Rick
Edit: Do you think a new graphics card like the ATI 4870 would
help it? But I really don't want to spend more money just to
have 2 monitors while i have already 2 dvi connections on the
    ati 2600XT.
