2nd screen connection ........

Hi
I don't know if this is possible you may know, if I bought a new powerbook screen (15.2") is there away of connection it to a 15 pin monitor connector, basically to connect it to a tower or another powerbook as a duel screen?
Thanks olly
g4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

You cannot use your powerbook as the monitor (display) of another computer.
You can plug another monitor (display) onto your powerbook as a second display.
I think you were asking about the first option. It's not possible.

    Hello Marcel,
It sounds like you are wanting to use the iMac in Target Display mode with your PC. Target Display mode is a feature that is supported from one Mac to another Mac according to this article:
OS X Mavericks: Use another Mac as a display
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14264
Target Display Mode lets you use a Mac as the external display for another, “primary” Mac.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • 2nd screen not recognised after reconnecting to Macbook Pro

I've got a Macbook Pro at work. It's connected to a 2nd monitor via HDMI cable, but I have to unplug the laptop and take it to meetings sometimes.
Since upgraded to Maversicks, the laptop doesn't recognise the 2nd screen when the laptop is reconnected. I've tried unpluging the cable, putting the laptop to sleep, but no luck yet.  The only way seems to work is to restart the laptop with the cable connected to get the 2nd screen. This is quote annoying after a few of times in aday.
Does anyone come across this and find a solution?

    Thanks

  • OSX: I would like DW opens on the 2nd screen

I use DW CS5 on a MacBook Pro with a 2nd monitor connected.
I would like DW opens on the 2nd screen (because it's much bigger) and so used the MacBook screen for my browser tests.
But I can not find the way to move DW to 2nd screen.
Am I really stupid or not ?
    Thank you

Not really.  You are thinking like Einstein was thinking when he wanted  his kitten to go in the small hole he drilled specifically while the kitten's mum had her own big hole.  To his surprise both went through the same big hole and he said what a waste of time drilling the small hole!!!!
You haven't said how you have connected the two monitors.  Are you using some switches like KVM switches that can do the job most efficiently? <http://www.kvms.com/Product/GCS78.aspx>
There must be some cheap ones in your area so just shop around.
Alternatively, Just connect one monitor (big one) to your machine which you work on and to view your pages you will need to upload the files somewhere so that your other machine can connect to them using the browser like any other websites.  You need two machines to do this, of course!

  • Using older Apple screen as a 2nd screen on G5 Quad

    I have a G5 Quad with a GeForce6600 card (256mb)
I have a newer 23" Cinema display at the moment
I have the possibility of an older 22" display (the white-bordered display that can connect direct to the back of the Mac)
Can I connect the older one as a 2nd screen without a card upgrade?
It looks like I have the correct connection at the back but i would like to check before I but it

If the older display uses ADC (round ends, squeeze clips) you will need a DVI to ADC adapter

    Kumthekar

Hi @Kumthekar  , welcome to the HP Forums. I understand your tablet starts to a black screen after possibly telling it to only connect to the '2nd monitor'. You may have to connect an external display to reconfigure this.
If you need help with that, let me know what the model number is, and what version of Windows is installed:

Problem with two monitors while using Photoshop, windows move from 2nd screen to 1st screen.
I saved a new workspace and it did not help.
No problem before I went to Maverick.

I found the fix, go to System Preferences and open Mission Control and uncheck the box to keep monitors as they were (When switching to an application...........)

  • Use TV as 2nd screen thru apple TV

    Hi,
I just bought a apple TV, and I want to use it not only to share photos etc.. but also as a real 2nd screen:
i.e. just as my powerbook screen, is that possible?
cheers and thank you for any info

If you mean can you mirror your computer desktop using the Apple TV, then sorry the answer is no, you can do this with a simple cable though.

  • Any file dragged onto desktop of 2nd screen are moved to main screen

I have a dual monitor setup. When I drag an item (file/folder/app) from a folder to the desktop of the 2nd screen, the item is automatically moved to the top right of my main screen.
When I drag an item onto the main screen, the item stays where I put it. Meaning, it's acts as expected on the main screen.
I do not have "keep arranged by" or "snap to grid" turned on - but it acts that way only the 2nd screen.
This applies to any type of file or folder. It happens when dragging from an app, or from a folder.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    -JD

Unfortunately, I get the same behaviour when I log in as a clean, new user as well.
I don't recall this being an issue in Panther... or at least earlier versions of Tiger.
Does anyone else see this situation on their dual monitor setup.

  • Place dock on bottom of 2nd screen?

I have 2 monitors, the only way I can find to get the dock off of the main screen (menu bar screen) is to change it's position to a side. I would like the dock on the 2nd screen (without menu bar) but still on the bottom. I was toying with the dock's plist a bit, seems like there should be an option like the side pinning that lets you offset it to a specific screen, or atleast by a certain amount (e.g. I could pin it left on the bottom, then offset it right by the width of the screen to push it to the 2nd screen...)

    ima747,
You can move the menu bar and dock to either screen but they stay together. In System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab. You can drag that little white bar, in the menu bar position, to to either screen. But again, the dock goes with the menu bar.

Sounds like the device was dropped at some point and damaged as a result.
Take it to Apple for evaluation and a replacement.

  • Macbook air charges fine with the Thunderbolt screen connection but only sometimes with the 45 W chargers.

My Macbook air charges fine with the Thunderbolt screen connection but only sometimes with the 45 W chargers. It seems to be the combination of the chargers and the computer. I was thinking whether the Thunderbolt screen has a larger power supply which easier activates the computer to actually receive the charge. It reminds me a bit of the Nokia Lumia 800 telephone, which when totally exhausted needs a strong charger to be activated again. I am as frustrated as most others.  I have got two chargers, and both of them sometimes work, other times not. Sometimes, they start working after a while. Is Apple meanwhile coming up with a solution or advice how to handle such situation?

I just got my ATD and late 2011 MBP up and running. I've not tried running without the power adapter from the ATD plugged in, but I just tried and didn't have any problems with the display not waking. You may want to take your query to the ATD forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/peripherals/thunderbolt_display - perhaps someone there has experienced a similar issue.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • How to Enable Port Mapping on my AirPort Express? - Screens Connect

Hi, everyone. I recently purchased a VNC app called Screens 3 and downloaded its desktop assistant, Screens Connect. The process was pretty straightforward and I was easily able to connect my iPhone and iPad to my MacBook Air over my local Wi-Fi. However, I am still unable to connect to my MacBook over LTE or any other Wi-Fi. Here's a look at what the Screens Connect preference panel looks like:
As you can see there aren't a whole lot of options, but Port Mapping is apparently a no-go. I'm guessing this is the resaon I can't connect over anything other than my local Wi-Fi. If anyone here could help me turn that red into a green, I'd be forever grateful. Thanks!

The instructions for enabling port mapping are pretty straightforward, but it never seems to make any difference. If it helps, I am technically living in a college dorm, and have my AirPort Express plugged directy into the wall's ethernet port. I'm assuming, using bridge-mode and all, that I actually have two routers, and the university's router is the one that I need to enable port mapping on. If I'm correct, is there a way to enable port mapping on my side without having to go through my university? Again, this is just conjecture. But the steps are fairly simple, so I'm not sure what else it could be.
