3.0.4 and vista opening ONE secure page!

Hi All, have safari 3.0.4 running on my vista pc. I want to switch from IE7 to Safari and overall I like the look of it better and most pages load ok including https:// pages apart from one https:// page which Safari just states it can not make a secure connection to although this message is instant and I do not see any network activity or evidence that it is even trying to do so.
However, 3.0.4 running on Win XP loads the page no problem so it would appear to be a vista issue ? If this is the case why would all the other secure pages load ok on vista. The one secure page that won't load is the one I really need and as such as yet I can not stop using the dreaded IE!!!

In my case it's with all HTTPS sites, including OWA, commercial sites (Earthlink, United Airlines, Hilton, etc.), and proxy-protected RSA site at work. The popup says cannot make secure connection to xxx (the URL). It happened right after I ran the 10.4.11 automatic software update from the Apple site. Didn't change any settings or preferences other than what the update might have done itself. Firefox running on the same machine still connects to the HTTPS sites as before. I was hoping to hear something from Apple now that it's been almost a week since the update was released, but so far no joy.

The lock symbol does not appear when I open a secure page in firefox 4.0. Has this been removed?

Previously, using firefox 3.6.1, when I opened a secure or encrypted page, the lock icon appeared on that page.
When I upgraded to firefox 4.0, the lock icon is no longer appearing when I open a secure page. Please confirm whether this has been removed or in the alternative whether there is a way to determine that the secure or encrypted page is indeed secure to use.

In Firefox 4 you no longer have the Status bar that showed the padlock in previous Firefox versions.<br />
The padlock only shows that there is a secure connection and doesn't guarantee that you are connected to the right server.<br />
So you might still be connected to the wrong server if you make a typo in the URL and someone has claimed that mistyped URL.<br />
The functionality of the padlock has been replaced by the [[Site Identity Button]] on the left end of the location bar.

Import and Copy Opening – One Task & One Prompt Set

Hi Experts,
We want to create one data manager package that contains both import from BW with UI and copy opening. We ran into some issues. Maybe you can help:
We created a new process chain that contains both tasks, and created a new DM package that has both scripts. Users only want to enter parameters such as entity and time one time for both tasks...
When I commented out the Copy opening prompts, relying on the prompts from the Import from BW, I receive an error. The message:

Thanks, isn't %SELECTION% passed to the process chain? I see that the process chain RUN LOGIC contains a field SELECTION. If the value is passed, then I have to change that too?
2) If we change the value to SELECTION2, then how does this variable capture the parameters for the dimensions? I am commenting out the prompt of the copy opening script keeping the first prompt below from the import from BW in order to capture the parameters for both scripts.

Safari won't open some secure pages

It's not just Safari, though - Firefox, Chrome, Opera.
It's not just my iMac either - MacBook Pro *AND* iPad.
Some secure sites simply won't open. It looks like they load (the timer thing goes through the URL) but blink - no page. Just a blank browser window.
Any clues??
I've tried reinstalling browsers, trashing preferences, turning off all security measures - pretty much anything you can think of. OS is 10.8.3, browsers are all updated to most recent versions.
I'm stumped. It wouldn't be a big deal except for one page that I NEED to get to for my job. I can't keep running over to my neighbor's house and using IE on his Windows 7 PC - not only is it irritating him, but it's making me crazy that something that works so effortlessly on his crappy PC won't work AT ALL on my Macs!

If you leave your session idle for a while, the site might log you out due to inactivity, but... I wouldn't trust that, either.
Usually your bank will have a link, menu, or some other way to log out. Certainly that is the best thing if you can do it. Sometimes if a site is not fully compatible with Firefox its style rules will result in a jumbled layout. You can disable all the style rules and view the site in a plainer layout to see whether you can spot the missing link. To do that:
tap the Alt key > View menu > Page Style > No Style
(The tab will remain unstyled going forward. You can use the same menu to reapply the page's style sheets later.)
Also, if you want to break the connection between Firefox and your banking session, you can clear your cookies for the bank site. This won't necessarily have any effect on your banking session ''on the server'' but should make it impossible for someone to use your Firefox to do anything in that session. To clear cookies for the current site, you can use the Page Info dialog. Here are 3 ways to open it:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* click the padlock on the address bar > More Information > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then reload the page and the site should behave as though you are not logged in.

When I try to open one web page is coming very late after 45 seconds later even more late why?

I am using firefox since very long time. I have a problem now on opening the selected pages. They are coming very late I mean they are opening very late about 45 up to one minute later the pages are oıpening which are very late. I tried few minutes ago Chrome and I saw that it is working very fast without any problem. What I have to do now ?, Uninstall the firefox and use the chore as web browser or will you find a solution to my broblem?.

I choose to find a solution. Please check that you don't have any Skype extensions or plugins in Firefox. Skype is known to slow down Firefox 300 times.

New owner here. How can I select specific pages of a document found on line and print just those pages. What I see is the ability to select only 1 page at a time and print that one selected page only. Thanks much.

I'm using a new computer and to open one website I have to answer the security questions each time saying that the site doesn't recognize this computer.

Each time I try to open my "ubt" website, I get a message that says the site does not recognize this computer so I have to answer the security questions each time. I get the message "You are attempting to log in to your account from a computer that we do not recognize..." All other websites work just fine. The Mac store person could not figure it out. This site works on Safari, but I prefer Firefox.

The ipod is not a backup device. The music sync is one way - computer to ipod. The only exception is itunes purchases: Without syncing:File>transfer Purchases

Can't open one custom page from other custom page after import.

I've created 2 custom pages "EITPersonPG" and "EITPersonMainPG" and imported them to the mds repository using import.bat. I created a function for "EITPersonPG" and added it into menu. I can open my pages from menu directly but when I try open "EITPersonMainPG" from "EITPersonPG" I get this error:

I've solved question about bouncing the apache server according to Doc ID: 471763.1 "R12 How To Bounce Apache And Clear HTML Cache In Vision Instance And Have Updated Java Code Class Active"
Note :At R12 level bouncing apache command is different of the one to bounce oacore oc4j engine andothers. An example of situation is : how to make a modification to a JSPand have > > that modification recognized by the OC4J - JSP engine.
So to clarify :
1. In 11i the apache start and stop command , also
bounce the JVM running on JSERV and clear caches by doings as below :To clear the jsp & modplsql caches run this commandrm -Rf $OA_HTML/_pages/*rm -Rf $COMMON_TOP/_pages/*rm -> Rf $IAS_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplsql/cache/*
2. In R12 the command to stop and start apache only takes action on
Apache web server and not on the OC4J container that executes the JVM.
To bounce the OC4J container there is an specific script:
*$INST_TOP/admin/scripts/adoacorectl.sh*
Therefore when making a modification to a JAVA class in R12 for the
web application, in order to have that change recognized, it is needed to bounce
OC4J using adoacorectl.sh script.
Bouncing oacore OC4J engine may also be needed if you make
modifications to system properties. Example for JTT based

Safari takes 25 seconds to open (http://www.caarc.ca/news.php) or from the same site, (http://www.caarc.ca/e107plugins/forum/forumviewforum.php?2 ) , while Firefox takes less than a second.
I have implemented the following from forum discussions;
- Installed the open DNS Servers
-Reset the top 5 buttons for Safari reset
-tried changing from 64 to 32 bit
-Rosetta is not installed
- checked the ~library... etc for plugins, there are none.
It is probably something form this site or similar sites but there must be a fix

Both sites opened nearly instantaneously for me. However I have constant problems with websites like eBay and others. The open DNS server thing doesn't work. It's a Microsoft-like workaround that I think is bogus and is a strawman by certain individuals that inhabit this board to make it seem like Apple does no wrong. Safari has its issues, one of which is this random issue with opening websites.

After going from firefox to another app. such as mail, I can't go to the dock and re-open my home page. The bar says firefox, but the previous app is on screen and douple-clicking the icon in the dock does nothing.

Problem seems to have started today after alothome.com hijacked my home page and I had to re-select original homepage as default.

I went to add-ons manager and removed ALOT and the problem went away. Post office recommended using ALOT to track a package but it screws up firefox.

You have to include (use include directive) your header & footer jsp file in other jsp pages where you wanted them. And once you do any change in header & footer jsp it will automatically effect other jsp.

There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to fully boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
1. Boot into Recovery (command-R at startup; 10.7 or later), from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup; 10.7.2 or later), or from your installation disc (C key at startup; 10.6.8 or earlier.) Launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in the support article linked below, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”

If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode by holding down the key combination command-T at the startup chime. Copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.

Can't open specific internet page

Everytime i try to open one specific page on the internet, instead of bringing me to the page i need, it brings me to this page filled with random words, letters, numbers and ponctuation. I have no clue how to get pass this or take it of so i can go to my page. I've asked one of my friends thats good with apple stuff and he didnt know. i also went to apple store, and thought the prolem was fix by reseting safari but wasnt the case. Any suggestion or ideas on how to fix this ?

If you are having trouble with only one web page, I would suggest that the page is the problem, not your web browser. I can't read any of the text in the screen shot, but it most likely poor HTML coding.
What web browser are using and have you tried any others?

FireFox doesn't fully close so whenever I reopen it refuses to open secure sites I had up when I closed it; it keeps thinking that the tab is already open and wont open another one. How do you fix this?

Whenever I close Firefox and then reopen it later on it opens the last webpage I had open before closing the browser instead of my homepage. It seems that exiting Firefox doesn't fully shut it down and just puts it into hibernation mode. This has become a problem because when I have a secure webpage open when I close the web browser, without logging out of the page, and then try to go to that page again it thinks that it's already open and wont open another page for me. This means that I can't even navigate to the page to log out. I think it might be just a setting with Firefox 4 but not sure which one, any suggestions?
