3.0 brought on Logo of Death

I've spent the past 6 hours restoring, rebooting, restoring, rebooting, etc., and still I can't find a solution to the fact that my iPhone freezes on the silver apple every goddamned time I reboot it. I can't make a ******* phone call without being at home so I can plug my phone into the wall and turn it on.
Is there any solution to this -whatsoever?- The phone was jailbroken about a year ago, but has since been restored and worked fine for months after that before this problem began (shortly after updating to 3.0).
Thank you for any help.

might be an issue with the drive itself or the cable not supporting such powered devices. i don't believe Nokia released an official microUSB 3.0 to USB 3.0 adapter cable, but i may be wrong. in this case, some tablets etc may not support higher-power draining devices that USB 3.0 on laptops/desktops do. this may be the case here mate.

  • Apple logo of death - Reconnect to itunes fix

I got my Iphone from my sisters boyfriend last Friday and had to unlock it from the previous carrier. And even the guy at the shop had problems with my Iphone.
Now when I'm home playing around with it it goes into Apple logo of death all of a sudden. I can't do anything. The battery still got power seeing how I only used it for about 10 minutes or so. Then the most peculiar thing happens. Upon reconnecting my device to Itunes it boots itself up and works again.
This keeps happening every 10-15 minutes of use or no use if I just let my device lay on my table for an hour or so and try to use it then.
I've checked through many forums but cannot find anything similair to this and it's really frustrating to only be able to use my Iphone for 15 minutes without having to reconnect it to itunes.
(i have not tried to connect it to a power outlet, yet, but will do that this afternoon)
Any ideas on my problem? (my iphone is about 2 years of age)

Well that's the thing. When I reconnect it to itunes it reboots itself to normal.
I'll explain this again, if I use my device for about 15 minutes it goes black and up comes Apple Logo of Death. I then reconnect to Itunes and it goes back to normal.
What I want to know is if there is some fix to this problem, cause I don't want to reconnect my Iphone to my computer every 15 minutes.

  • IPod Touch 2G 32GB with White Apple Logo and Failed Restore / Recovery

    My Specifications:
    iPod Touch 32GB 2G
    iPhone OS 3.1.3
2.8 Ghz. Intel Core 2 Duo iMac
    Mac OS 10.5.8
    iTunes 9.0.3 (15)
    Problem:
After updating my iPod Touch to OS 3.1.3, my iPod touch started having sync issues where it would say the sync failed. The backup files stopped being created and the latest version was over two weeks old (from prior to the updated to 3.1.3). After an application became unstable and crashed frequently, I tried to do a reboot by holding the Power & Home buttons until the Apple Logo appeared to begin the reboot process. After waiting for 6 hours, the ipod still had not rebooted but was frozen on the White Apple Logo screen.
    Troubleshooting Steps I’ve Take:
    1. Attempted to follow Apple Frozen iPod Touch and Common Issue Troubleshooting Guide. The iPod will not shut down using the Power Slider function.
    2. Restore via iTunes using the DFU Restore Function (Power Button & Home Button for 10 seconds, releasing the Power Button, followed by plugging in the USB cable while holding the Home Button down). iTunes recognized the ipod at the point and began the restore process. The process took almost 32 hours and when it was completed, the ipod would not boot up by remained with the White Apple Logo. My original attempt was with using a powered USB hub.
    3. Repeated the restore process but by plugging directly into the computer and eliminating all USB devices except keyboard and mouse. Deleted the OS 3.1.3 updated and made iTunes download the file in case it was corrupted.
    4. Rebooted computer between each attempt.
    5. Deleted iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device Services as per Apple Article HT1747. Rebooted the computer and reinstalled iTunes. iTune would not recognized the iPod Touch to do a restore using the DFU method. I’ve retried various timings and versions with the cable plugin, booting with the cable plug in and not plugged in, etc... No effect.
    6. Repeated the above steps on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.6. iTunes wouldn’t recognize the iPod.
    7. Repeated the above steps using a different sync cable. iTunes wouldn’t recognize the ipod.
    8. Unplugged the iPod and let it completely drain until the screen went blank for 1 day. When pressing home button the Low Battery / Plug In warning appears. Recharged the battery using a wall plug for 12 hours. Retried the above steps. No change.
What I’ve Eliminated As The Problem Via My Troubleshooting:
    1. Computer Hardware
    2. iTunes Software
    3. Sync Cable
    4. USB Conflicts
What I Need Is A Solution:
    1. Completely wiping my ipod is an acceptable solution at this point. I’ve spent a week working on this and wasted way too much time. Is my iPod trashed thanks to an OS update?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've ready each forum posting involved White Apple Logo Issues and have come up empty. Am I the only persons would is having trouble restoring?
    Thank you,
    Paul

More Troubleshooting Steps For Your Consideration:
I was able to restore back to iPhone OS 2 by using a laptop that had not been synced with my ipod touch previously. When I did the DFU with it, iTunes downloaded OS 2 and it worked.
Then I went back to my iMac and proceeded to install OS 3.1.3 and that seemed to work ok too.
I've been getting the white apple logo of death, however, when I try to sync applications. All seems well, but as it is finishing the ipod touch reboots to the White Apple Logo Screen and stays there. iTunes seems oblivious to this taking place.
During my second rebuild starting with OS 2 and then updating to 3.1.3, it worked again. When I tried to add apps, I only put on a dozen. That worked too. I did get the White Apple Logo Screen of Death once again and I did the third sync to get the rest of my apps in place.
I'm on the third rebuild from version 2. I'm going to try to use an old file I have of 3.1.1 instead of 3.1.3. Also, I'm going to add one application per sync. At least this way I might be able to find out if it is a specific app that is causing the problems.
In my further research, it appears that this bug has been in place since the early days of iPhone OS 2.
All told I've spent over week with my computers tied up working on this problem. I think it would have more cost effective to just buy a new iPod. (I'd rather wait for the 4G version this fall!).
Just in case anyone else has been having issues, that is where I'm at. I'll let you know if I figure this issue out in more detail.
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • Help Please! Apple Logo Green and won't turn on

Help Please! Hey I like Green Apples, but this does not look good
I need some help with my late 2011, 4gb memory, 500gb hard drive Mac Book Pro. I’ve had problems in the past, the hard drive failed only after 3 months from purchase date.

That’s it no matter, what I do, restart, turn off and I trying safe booth and trying to re-intstall Mavricks lol that was not pretty (It looks like an old crash windows computer) It had no information on it.
Pretty much it is a paper weight now and I need some help.

  • Can't get iphone 3G past Apple logo!

When I start the iphone (3G 16GB version running 2.0 software) it doesnt go past the apple logo. I have tried resetting the phone by holding the sleep and home button for over 10 seconds but when I turn on the phone again it still does the same. Please help
    THanks

C'mon you guys - it's not nice to play around with people like that. The OP is obviously suffering from ALoD ("Apple Logo of Death"), a topic which has been beaten to death here on the boards: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1600894
In a nutshell, there is no officially sanctioned solution from Apple. A solution DOES exist but we are forbidden from discussing it. So, I'd suggest reading through that thread I linked to, making an appointment at the local Genius Bar, and getting it replaced. Every time it happens.

  • Settings freeze "kiss of death"

ONe 3 different occasions now when I select settings the iPhone 3G will totally freeze up. This happened once with my first iPhone 3G so I took it back and got another. At the time I did not know about the special reset (described below). twice now I experienced freeze up when selecting settings. Unfortunately all 3 times I was on the road away from my computer. This is a major headache and causes loss of ones cell phone as well. The latest freeze up happened about 4 hours after I installed 2.01!!
The only way I have figured out how to recover is to do a special reset while the iPhone is attached via USB cable to your computer. If you experience freeze up most likely the iPhone will not bootup. Trying to reboot for hours will for some reason cause the battery to get hot and may cause further damage. Also foget hoping that the iPhone will mount in this condition.
Do this, once you have attached your iPhone to your computer do press the sleep / wake button while also howding down the home button. Once the Apple logo comes up release the sleep / wake button immediately and continue hoding down the home button for another 10 - 15 seconds. At this point the iPhone will mount and you can do a restore. If you have not gone through the agony of waiting for the backup every time and instead stopped the restore you will get a restore corrupt message and you must set up the iPhone as "new".
I am a proud Apple user since the days of the Apple 2e (1984). I am sorry to say that I am a little disappointed in Apple rolling out the 2.0 software and 3G at the same time. So far this has caused me to be without a phone for 3 full days, Not a good thing when I must keep tabs on my ailing 88 year old dad.
OK, enough of the rant. I would suggest not at all seleting settings while away from your computer, this may be dangerous to your health until Apple corrects this problem. I would be VERY CURIOUS to hear of anyone else having this problem. After all this happened to me on two different iPhone 3G's now. One of those iPhones was only 2 days old.
    Thanks for any comments
    Ken

By any chance did you have an app update in progress when you went into the settings?
I've had this kiss of death issue and proved it (painfully) by recreating it today.
Steps I did that caused repeatable KoD:
    1) Went into App Store while on home wireless network
    2) Check for updates
    3) Select an update
    4) Start update process
    5) Update runs for a bit
    6) Select the "Settings" icon
    7) KoD
You now are in the "White Apple logo of Death" experience. Your phone will continue in this mode while the battery gets incredibly hot.
Note: reason I was going in to settings was to extend the auto lock timeout so I wouldn't have to keep touching the screen etc. to keep it awake so the app update could complete.
If you are not near your computer, you're hosed. Your best bet is to press sleep home and just as the phone goes to reboot let go the buttons and let it turn off.
If you are near your computer use the connection process documented in the previous post (reboot, continue to hold the home button, connect iPhone to computer wait for usb cable picture to appear on iphone screen and begin the restore process)
I hope they fix this soon. This is very un-Apple.

  • Application Role does not work

In EM, I add a new application role to an ADF web application.
This application role named simple11_AR_superAdmin and it has a group member named simple11_G_superAdmin.
This group is created in weblogic console and assign users.
However, this setting does not work. This application can be login by all users (including weblogic).
How to enable application roles? Does application role of EM equal to application role created in Jdeveloper?

DO NOT UPDATE ON THE PHONE ITSELF! Never do this! You risk bricking your iPhone and seeing the Silver Apple Logo of Death due to incomplete downloads and/or crashing! This has happened to me on my old iPhone as well as thousands of others. Use iTunes and iTunes only to update Apps!

  • New update, New problems

Alright, so i just updated to 2.02 and for the first time got the apple logo of death, so i did the restore via itunes, and now when i try to sync my apps it comes up with an error 0xe8000035?! Anyone else have this, i've had a dozen of 0xe..... errors and now i got this one.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

If you install anything on the iPhone other than simply synching it up through iTunes and installing Apple's software update, than you've used a hack to install other software. Apple doesn't, at the time, make various optional software that you can add or not add to the iPhone. So, you're kind of asking about something that doesn't exist -- software or apps that aren't hacks separate from the normal software update.
Now, some people have had problems with this latest update even if they have not hacked their iPhone. I experienced problems, and I'd link you to the solution I posted, but it seems to no longer be there. But it seemed to be an issue with the update not downloading properly, and I had to manually delete the iPhone updates folder, or something like that. It had bricked my phone until I did that. But the people with the real problems are the ones who have used hacks, and if you've installed any software on it outside of the updates and files you can put on it through iTunes, you'd be facing the possibility of a non-functioning iPhone.

  • There are 6 to 8 different iPhone 3G Models

I was over at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937 and I noticed that there are several different part numbers for the iPhone.
There should be at least 3 different part numbers (8GB Black, 16GB Black and 16GB White). But why are there so many in under the US and Canada? All the other countries have 3, except for the US and Canada?
Any suggestions? Which one is the latest one?
    US:
    MB046LL/A
    MB048LL/A
    MB499LL/A
    MB702LL/A
    MB704LL/A
    MB705LL/A
    Canada:
    MB629C/A
    MB630C/A
    MB631C/A
    MB632C/A
    MB633C/A
    MB634C/A
    MB635C/A
    MB636C/A

I bought 2 iphones; one for my girlfriend one for myself. Both were MB499LL/A . Mine works flawlessly except for the application lag issues however my girlfriends got the apple logo of death (where it get stuck on the apple logo and there isn't anything u can do).. So I returned hers to the store and got a new iphone which happened to have the same MB499LL/A part number; her new iphone has no problems. I had them update hers to 2.0.2 in the store to be safe (with no problems). So, just because you have a certain part number doesn't guarantee failure.
I work in I.T. so I have some experience diagnosing problems. In my humble opinion I believe there are 2 issues that could be causing all these problems.
    1) A hardware issue created during putting together manufactured parts (the parts all work fine). i.e One of the parameters during part placement is incorrect creating a malfunction. So the theory floating around of an immature chip set is bogus (especially since most iphones work). If it was a chip problem all iphones would have problems which is not the case (according to Apple only 2% have issues).
    2) A software problem: If I had to point fingers it would be at the Apple Application Store and/or 3rd party apps. In which case we will be fine. Bugs will be found, updates will be made... All will be good.
This is all just my opinion based on my own experiences.

  • What's one to do after restoring an iPhone outside home?

Okay.. so some of you may have seen that I posted a thread about getting hit with the white apple logo of death after just moving icons around, and I thought to myself, well I'd rather not have that happen to me.. but thanks to Apple's buggy-*** software (or a 3rd party app which could have caused that too), I'd rather not have some half-arsed backup saved on a work machine or my laptop which I take with me everywhere.. okay so to give you a bit of a scenario:
I have a desktop at home where I do all my phone synchronising (iMac), and I also have a MacBook Pro which I take with me everywhere.. One plan I considered was to keep a back up of contacts, apps, and music on the laptop same as to what I have on my desktop at home (so that WHEN my phone will **** itself I could then restore it to something temporary to keep me through the day), OR what if I was to copy/pasta my backup folder from my iMac which is on
    User/Home/Library/Application Support/MobileSync
Has anyone here happened to have tried that? copy over those backup files to another mac or pc, and say try to pick up the backup on an authorised machine?
Be curious to know what you folks use as a backup plan (no pun intended).. or do most of you just not care so much about that?

Well, I finally found out what was going on. Apparently iCloud was stuck trying to recover the back up. So I stopped it and restarted again and it's working fine now.
As for the battery, it seems to be improving each day and I'm quite happy with it.
    Hope it helps!

  • IPod Touch 2G 32GB stuck on Apple screen, unable to restore

My iPod Touch froze a few days ago. Powering off/on did nothing (I can't turn off using just the power button, have to use Home as well). Hard reset does nothing - it just sits on the Apple screen, without even a progress bar. I let the battery run out, and have charged it again, with the same results.
I was trying to avoid connecting it to iTunes (a whole other story, basically the laptop with my existing iTunes library bluescreened, I thought I had it all backed up but turns out the apps and backups aren't there, we're working on data recovery) but figured that was my only option to restore. Not sure whether the fact I've never connected this iPod to this PC is a problem, but it is not recognising it at all. Not just in iTunes - it's not even registering as a USB device. I have tried forcing it into Restore mode to get it recognised, but it just goes back to the Apple screen and sits there again.
Any ideas? (It's long out of warranty).

  • Does the new update

stop the silver apple logo of death?

I used to experience a lot of crashes/restores before while updating/installing applications. Having installed applications from both iTunes and App Store I can say that, with 2.1 firmware, installations and updates are very smooth. Even having 40+ applications installed, the new app installation takes less than 30-40 seconds.

  • Endless Rebooting - Endless Resetting

I am getting tired of this force rebooting. I thought I was the only one in this boat, but as I read the Apple Discussions and other websites I see that this boat is getting crowded. As a matter of fact, this is not a boat any longer, but a ship...like the Titanic!
I was an early adopter with both the iPhone-1 and the iPhone-2. Never had a problem with iPhone-1, but I can not say that with the iPhone-2. On the multiple occasions that I have been forced back to factory settings, I has always been due to an application. Not the Apple applications but the 3rd party applications. It seams that the 3rd party apps make the iPhone so unstable that the phone crashes. It renders it useless forcing me to do a full recovery. This has occurred multiple times. (~20 occasions)
At first it occurred with removal of a app from the iPhone directly. The solution: do not remove an app from the phone directly. Then it occurred with updating the app on the phone directly. The solution: do not update directly on the iPhone. Then it occurred loading a new app via iTune. The solution: do not load new apps. Then it occurred with updating the app on the phone via iTunes. The solution: do not update via iTune on the iPhone. You can see where I am going... NOWHERE! I realized whenever I update/remove/load an app via the iPhone directly or via iTunes. This can sending my iPhone to the Apple Logo of Death. (ALOD) I say "can" because it does not happen all the time. An app that was the culprit of causing ALOD one time may work fine after reloading. It is extremely fickle. If I try to open a app, it will on occasion go to black apple screen but it then it reboots. I do not get the ALOD. This occurs only with updates/remove/load of an app via the iPhone directly or via iTunes.
It just is getting annoying resetting my phone. I could care less about my high score on a game app, but some 3rd party apps i.e. Bloomberg take time to load a financial portfolio. Plus all the organization that goes into setting my 8 pages of apps correctly on my iPhone. But what's more of a killer is the few times my backups were corrupted!(~5 occasions) Then all is lost! Setting, passwords, and most importantly my notes that are really reference notes for my work. They got to be retyped in because there is no @$#% CUT AND PASTE!
Apple products are usually socially oriented, with all the time I spend rebooting the iPhone, I have become antisocial hermit. And I am not going to comment on how long backing up takes! (2 to 3 hours on some occasions)
I assume that these problems will be corrected in the next firmware update.
So I wait for version 2.1... I hope it arrives faster than the Carpathia did for the Titanic!

If recovery mode didn't help, either there is a hardware problem or the phone was previously jailbroken.
    FYI:
    1. When posting about a problem, please state EVERYTHING you tried so far, so we don't waste time suggesting things you've already done.
    2. DFU is meant for hacking, and should not be used on a phone except to fix problems caused by hacking.

  • Interesting 3G behavior

    All,
I stop getting mail whenever I change a network setting. If I turn Bluetooth on, or switch to WI-FI, or go from 3G to EDGE, my mail simply will not connect. I open mail and and an account and it will sit on "connecting" until I get tired of waiting (10 - 15 min. the first couple times). Since I take advantage of turning off those radio's that I won't use, in order to save battery life, it was getting fairly annoying. I have now discovered that all I have to do to get mail working again is turn the phone off and back on again.
    Very odd behavior.
    3GFF

Yea turning it off makes it SOOO simple. If only you didnt get the now (in)famous Apple Logo of Death EVERY time you tried to boot it or install an app. My phone has NEVER been jailbroken in any form and my 3 week old 3G already has light leaking from the left side, I can't turn it off for fear of not having a phone in an emergency, and I can't even install an app for fear of 6 hours to restore (yes, I know restoring the OS takes 20-30 minutes, but restoring from back up EASY takes 5-6 hours) Apple c'mon I didnt have to restore my first gen once in 6 months, I've restored my 3G TWELVE!!!!! times in 3 weeks. Now that I'm finished ranting, on your issue, I actually haven't noticed that, though I don't mess with bluetooth, no need, but when I turn 3G on/off I don't notice that.
