3.0 download time

How long does it take for the newest update to completely download, if we are caught up on all updates up to 3.0? I am trying to figure out when to download since it is very busy right now. Thanks.

Fast as in DSL or fast as in T1, T3 or OC12? The initial piece is only 4 kb or such, but the entire download is 258 MB.
I started mine overnight so I wouldn't tie up my DSL line.

If you're buying HD movies, you can change the setting in the Store preferences in iTunes to prefer 720p. Or you can just buy SD versions.

  • Movie transfer time compared tp download time

i bought a movie on another computer (because mine didnt have the internet hooked up yet) and it took almost 13 hours to download and then quite a while for it to be put on my ipod, but then when i hooked up my ipod to my computer to transfer it to my computer it took less than a minute for the whole thing to be copied on to my computer. but if i can transfer it from my ipod to another computer in such a small ammount of time then why does it take so long for it to download from itunes??
oh and does anyone know why there are no movies or tv shows in the other countries itunes stores?

Download and sync/transfer times are dependent on many factors. Download time depends on you connection speed, general network congestion, and file size.
Transfer time is also dependent on connection type. USB1, USB2, and where files are stored.
With my setup I have my files on a network drive that I usually connect to over wireless for syncing. This takes longer than when I go down and plug the laptop in with an ethernet cable to the router. The whole setup is slower that it could be because of the network storage but I like the backup abilities of the network storage.

  • Apple TV/iTunes movie download times

Have had Apple TV for over 2 years but in the last several months, when I rent a movie from iTunes, it takes over 2 hours for the movie to download.  This was never the case in the past.  It used to just take moments.  I have changed NOTHING within my system, nor do I feel I should have to.  Could someone explain to me why this is happening?  I also use Apple TV to stream my Netflix movies...no lag time at all with those.
It does tell me that I would it to download faster I should change the resolution in "settings".  Well, why the **** would I want to do that?  And whay suddenly have to do this?  Kind of ruins the reason for having a high end SONY flat screen.
    Open to ideas.
    Kindest regards~

  • TS3623 APPLE TV download times suddenly became 3-4 evn 12 hrs for a movie?

What happened 3 months ago ? APTV was working fine then download times suddenly became 3-4 evn 12 hrs for a movie?!! Movies that I purchased that are in their cloud take a similar time to download. Not a problem with my internet provider or my router as both tested fine. Apple Genius Bar has suggested a reset of the device which made zero difference.  Any suggestions out there?

I have had my provider in to test my signal strength. My router shows full bars as well.

Before beginning the download, temporarily disable your antivirus, anti-adware, anti-spyware, and any other anti-whatever that is required with that swiss cheese for security OS your computer is running.

  • Download times / caching

We can view our forms via internet. The problem is the download times. It seems that the .jar files aren't cached properly. We have tried it on various computers using IE and Navigator. After we bring it up the first time, which takes a good 7 mins or so, everything works fine. Actually if we close the browser and try it again, that works fine. The problem is when we disconnect then reconnect via 56k modem. It begins downloading aprox 2megs or so. I don't mind the initial download time. But is it suppose to download 2 megs everytime you disconnect and reconnect? BTW our server has a bandwidth to the internet of 512k. Anyone have a clue on what might be the problem? Thanks in advance!

  • Download Size / Download Time

Is there a way tell how long it will take to download a pdf file at various connection speeds.
I have CC and Dreamweaver shows the Download Size/Download Time for html files.  Is there such a tool for Adobe Acrobat?  I'd like to see how long it will take at various connection speeds (for desktop and mobile/portable decives) to download a file.
    Thanks

afaik Acrobat has no such feature; but then the main interface for download / upload from/to the web is the browser not Acrobat.

  • Firefox.exe download times out in IE

I`ve attempted several times to download Firefox 6.0.2 on the main computer (I've successfully downloaded it within minimal minutes on other computers in the house that run off the same connection) and the download fails with the error message that it `timed out`.
The transfer rate shows at being no more than 1.29kb/sec (937 bytes/sec) while the actual internet connection speed shows 130 Kb. The estimated download time is close to 4 hours.
The main laptop in the house is a Dell with Windows XP Professional, and I'm running IE 8.0.6.
I've tried to download Firefox several times hoping different mirrors will give me a faster speed but its the same every time.
    Any suggestions?

On iPhone 4, 4s and 5 and Ipads IOS6,  go to settings, and locate Store.  Click your Apple ID and sign out on Store and then re-sign in your Apple ID, and session timed out issue will be fixed. I tried this myself and confirmed working =) Good Luck.

  • Why am I seeing the software download time estimated at 11 hours?

    Hi!
I'm restoring data in my 4S and the Apple server is pushing iOS 8.2 for the upgrade. When I tried to download the upgrade to my MacBook, the download was estimated to take 6 hrs. This didn't seem right, even though I'm downloading from the Airport Extreme. I proceeded regardless, knowing this is generally an estimate and my normal experience has been the estimated download time revises to less time as the download progresses.
This time it nearly took the 6 hours then promptly crashed.
Off to my iMac (currently running 10.9.5) and attempted to download the upgrade on the newer machine. Now the estimated time is 11 hours. Should I have "hard wired" directly from the AirPort Extreme with a LAN cable, or is something choking the download speed at my end?
Just wondering and am awaiting to hear from the collected wisdom of the readers for advice.
<humour> I have nothing to do right now except ride shotgun on this download.</>
    Thanx in advance

Web start offers lazy downloads, as well as the DownloadService* (DS) to help with this kind of problem.
'Lazy' means the resource is only downloaded when needed, but using the DS offers even greater control, even to the extent of manually blocking a download - if needed.
    * e.g. of the Download service, be sure to follow the links.
    <http://www.physci.org/jws/#ds>
As far as 'signing' goes, I cannot imagine how that would help for your problem. Not only are signed Jar's (at least slightly) larger, but they can also be used by JWS apps. coming from other domains! If your app. is sandboxed, I strongly recommend keeping it as unsigned code.
Why is your JNLP file exposed to the general public? Don't the users have to log in before they can get to the page with link to the application JNLP?
If that is the case, the only chance for users who are not logged in to launch it, is if a friend sends them a direct link to the JNLP file.
As an aside, I generally do not have time to look at posts with no 'dukes' assigned (see links at upper left), if getting a solution is important to you, it is a good idea to add some.

  • Is there anything I can do to speed up iWeb download times?

I was wondering if I could ask the forum a couple of questions. (I have had a look through previous posts but wasn't able to find the answers I need. Apologies if my questions have been answered before).
I bought iWeb a few days ago and website building is virgin territory for me. Over the weekend I put together a site. This is albeit a skeleton site, but the final site will be pretty much the same, only with more picture and text content.
The site is primarily about displaying photographs to picture editors (etc) so fastish download times are important for me . On my G5 (with reasonable broadband), and after emptying the cache, the site opens very slowly. (Page opening times range from 5 seconds to 10 seconds). This is unfortunately far too slow for my needs.
I have tried to speed up the download times by a variety of means:
    (1) Reducing the file size to 30kb jpeg files in ImageReady using 'save for web'
    (2) Using the 'original size' facility in inspector.
Nothing seems to be increasing the download times to acceptable speeds.
Does anyone know what I can do, if anything?
Please check out this skeleton site at:
    http://web.mac.com/gregoryclements/iWeb
Any help or feedback with this would be very much appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Greg

    Hi Greg,
Went to your web site. Page loading time wasn't too bad here, but I'm a photographer also and am sympathetic to your need for speed.
Here's what I found and my current ideas for speeding up page loading speed.
I grabbed two of your images and found that they were 450k png files, not 30k as mentioned plus the images, in my opinion, are soft and could be sharper.
Some iWeb observations re: Photo Pages and Image Optimization Workflow
Dropping hirez files into iWeb it will automatically "Fit Image" to 800x800px with a jpeg compression of 10.
Watching users open my web pages I've noticed and feel:
    a) Alot of these folks are PC users and their display resolutions are not set as high as we use editing photos.
b). Because of this, images over 500px high cripples some users from seeing the bottom of a page and controls that may be there.
    c) My current workflow includes using "Fit Image" to Width 700px and Heigth 500px.
Following are Custom and Batch Image Processing Workflows
These will work with Raw, Tif or Jpg images and will assume that you have reasonably worked up your images applying your own voodoo.
Custom Image Processing Workflow. (using smallest file, quick version)
    1. Load images into Bridge
    2. Edit and manually sort images into the order you want.
    3. Renumber images with (sequence)(-)(Filename)
    4. Use Tools->Photoshop->Image Processor
Save the files as sRGB Tiff and Fit Image H500px by 700px
    5. Open images in Photoshop
    6. Apply your custom image image corrections to each image
    7. Sharpen the images
    8. Save for Web using jpeg with medium compression.
    9. Images are now ready for web use.
Using this process a couple of times you will come away with a feel for the Custom image correction and amount of sharpening and compression works best for your images.
Now you are ready to start batching images.
First create a bunch of commonly used action.
I have a "Sharpen" folder containing actions named:
    30 SmartSharp
    40 SmartSharp
    50 SmartSharp
    60 SmartSharp
    etc.
Also, I have a Convert to Profile folder of actions
A Color Correct folder of actions that calls on some of my favorite nik Color Efex filters and presets.
And a "Save As" folder of actions containing
    Save4Web high
    Save4Web medium
--Don't let me lose you here becase here comes the good part
Create a folder of "Combined Actions" and create some useful combinations.
Example: "sRGB 50Sharp WebMedium" that calls on three of the actions previously created Convert to Profile, SmartSharpen and Save As
    Now you are ready for:
    Batch Image Processing Workflow
    1. Load images into Bridge
    2. Edit and manually sort images into the order you want.
    3. Renumber images with (sequence)(-)(Filename)
    4. Use Tools->Photoshop->Image Processor
Save the files as sRGB Tiff and Fit Image H500px by 700px
but this time use: Apply Action "sRGB 50Sharp WebMedium"
    5. Images are now ready for web use.
    Respectfully submitted,
    Junebug Clark

  • Download time

I just purchased an ipad3 to replace my defective nook color (touch screen problem on the 15 month old unit).  I cannot understand why the download time of my magazine subcriptions from Barnes and Noble are taking 3-6x longer that to my nook color.  Btw, I am based oversears.  For example, I download issues of Readers Digest in 20-30 minutes, but with the ipad3 it takes 2 hours minimum.  Car and Driver magazine from 30 minutes to nook...in ipad 3hours have past and only 70% done.  If the file size of magazines for ipad3 bigger than that for nook color?  The download time is getting to be irritating.  And I thought that getting an ipad3 would be moving up in device performance.
Internet speed in my area is respectable.  Browsing is normal for the ipad3.
    Thanks.

Hi.  In April this year I shifted from NC (touch screen failure only after 15 months of moderate use) to Ipad 3,  Initially the download times of my magazines from my nook account was taking at least an hour.  Some bloggers suspected that BN was probably cutting down the download speed since the download was not to their own device.  Any after only a week or two, downloads of my mags, NG...Car and Driver, etc have gone down to 5 to 10 minute, good enough for my connection speed.  To answer your question, I was able to successfully download to my Ipad 3 all my mag subscriptions that were previously stored in my NC.  When I registered my new device with BN I suppose that their system automatically will erase all stored items in my old nook,  though i never had the chance to check this out since my NC does not function anymore.  Once the new device is registered with BN you will notice that all your subscriptions will appear in the "archived" section.  All you have to do is download them one by one to your new device.
My understanding is that suppose that your NC is stolen, the user will initially enjoy all the contants bought from BN.  What you do is archive all the books, mags, etc sourced from BN.  The one using your NC will suddenly discover that all the contents sourced from BN will disappear.  However, your personally installed music, videos, pdf will remain in the stolen NC.  Hope this helps.
