3.0 glitches: bluetooth and silent calls

My original iPhone is very happy with 3.0, just these two weird glitches:
When linked to my Prius via Bluetooth, if I bring up the Search window on the iPhone, the Bluetooth kicks in and interrupts the car radio.. Same happens if I insert the cursor into text, such as an email.
Also, more than once, I've made a call (both with and w/o Bluetooth) where I don't hear the other party but they hear me.
I don't know if these are specific to the orig. iPhone or general 3.0 issues.

Internet tethering on the iPhone is for providing internet access TO a computer FROM the phone's 3G/GPRS data connection. Not for providing internet access TO the iPhone.
The Bluetooth PAN support in OS 3.0 for 2nd gen iPod touch is for peer-to-peer gaming, where the iPod touch creates a 'Personal Area Network' between iPods for playing games over Bluetooth. It's not for internet access.

  • Bluetooth and direct call from Outlook 2010 issue

    Hello.
I connect Nokia 5300 via Bluetooth and can call from Nokia Communication Center. But when i try to call from Outlook, phone begins dialing and immediately shows strange icon "D" and break dialing.
If i connect via USB - all work without any problems - form Nokia Communication Center and from Outlook also.
In OS Nokia is shown as Standard Modem via Bluetooth (Microsoft)
    PC Suite 7.1.6
    Windows 7 x64 Ultimate RUS SP1
    Outlook 2010 x64

    Workstations are on a domain
Also it may appear to be more of a issue with 2000 .pub type of files.  As users can create a 2010 .pub file and it works great fine.  But every time a user opens a 2000 .pub file via outlook and tries to edit and save it requests the
user to do a save as, vs. save to outlook temp location.

    Hello Mogulman46,
So what that means is when you have Do Not Disturb turned on, you may have an alert depending on the setting and how you are using your iPhone. So if it is set to Always, then that means that no matter what, your iPhone will not be notified. If it set to Only while the iPhone is locked, then that means that you will not get notification when your iPhone is locked but you will get notifications if your iPhone is being used. Also keep in mind the settings All Calls From can be set to certain contacts like Favorites, Everyone or no one. If you are using Do Not Disturb and you do not need it, then turn it off.
Use Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • Is it possible to listen to music through bluetooth and be on a call with earbuds at the same time?

Is it possible to listen to music through bluetooth and be on a call with earbuds at the same time?
I would like to be able to talk on my iPhone with the EarPods while playing music via Bluetooth in my car.  Are there any third party products that will allow this?

Sorry,  iOS will pause the music playback when you are on the phone call.  You can set iOS to use bluetooth for your audo playback on your music app, and select the earpods for the phone app, but as soon as you answer the phone call, iOS will pause the music playback.  This is a core OS feature, so you will not find any certified iOS app that will do what you want.
As a side note, please use extra caution when using your ear pods while driving.  It is not safe as you may not hear emergency vehicles, car horns, railroad crossing bells, etc., and it is illegal in many states (in the US).

  • I'm a Bluetooth Novice and something called caribe...

Sorry if this is long but I need help.
I am very new to Bluetooth and wanted to experiment getting messages for the first time, so my two colleauges and myself activated our handset's Bluetooth.
I kept on getting a name coming through called caribe.sis, this name was coming through EXTREMELY rapidly at about two per second. I though this may have been someone in the room next door so I let it through and it gave me the option to apply/save it, which I did as I thought I had to do this to read their message.
I saved it to my phone memory and it went into 'MY Own' section om my Nokia N70. Since then it has taken over my screen, I have my orig screen for about 5 seconds when I first switch my phone on, the screen then goes blank and Caribe takes over, BUT it has dropped the sis part and is now just called Caribe. After I installed Caribe my colleague's phone name started coming through at two per second also but by then I was fed up and swithed my phone off, that was the only way of stopping it.
I dont know how to get rid of this caribe thing, I dont know what it will do to my phone or my sim, can the person behind caribe steal my phone book, my details and make unauthorized calls ?
I have now transferred my sim over to an old phone.
Because I am new I still dont know how to accept or read Bluetooth messages and I assumed, that the correct process of reading or accepting a Bluetooth message was to let the name install i.e. as I did with Caribe sis. Looks like I was wrong.please help.
    Thanks,
    Maggie.

    its a virus.
you need to go to a nokia engineer to get rid of it. you might be able to get a removal tool by searching on google tho

  • Bluetooth and Z10 speaker don't work together

Phone works great when connected to Bluetooth in car and I can talk hands free.  When I use the Map app that came with the phone, I can't hear the verbal directions. My old Blackberry worked great with Bluetooth and I could hear verbal directions and also answer the phone when it rang. Verbal directions would be silent until I hung up the phone call.

My car radio has 2 separate Bluetooth input source's. Phone and Music A2DP, verbal directions can only be heard when Music source is selected.

  • Short-sighted approach to Bluetooth and Wi-fi.

I've just bought an Ipad - which I think is a truly amazing bit of kit. However within 36 hours I've discovered some very basic shortcomings in the software design in respect to both Bluetooth and Wi-fi. I was so shocked at their absence that I ran these past the Apple Support team who confirmed my worst fears.
The Ipad Bluetooth will not work with my Blackberry 9000. The Blackberry pairs with the Ipad but the Ipad syncs with nothing. Given that Blackberries are probably the most used smartphone in the business community - this seems like a really serious oversight?
Wi-fi printing I'm told only works with Airprint 101 - but then is limited to a narrow range of HP printers. Why? I have an HP Photosmart 3310 which is wireless and can accept wireless connectivity from any Windows based PC. I did evetually find a messy solution to the problem which I'll detail because I'm sure there are clever enough people working at Apple who might just be able to fix it better!!
You need to create a directory in the Programs Directory called 'Airprint'. You then need to download the three files that Airprint 101 uses and locate these in the directory. As soon as you rum 'Airprint.exe' your Ipad will show you any printers that are attached through wi-fi. However you must keep the directory with the Airprint files open because as soon as you close it - the printers disappear.
I improved the situation slightly by creating a task in the Task Sceduler to run when the PC opens and which automatically runs the 'Airprint.exe' file. Now all I have to do is to ensure that my Windows PC is on befire I use my Ipad!!
There has to be a better way than this and I feel it detracts from the Ipad as a potentially super piece of kit.
Perhaps someone from Apple would like to look into this and give some feedbasck? Thanks.

No. It doesn't work with any cell phones.
The iPad Bluetooth works with only with headphones and keyboards.

Dunno what *AirPrint 101* is. AirPrint was incoporated into iOS 4.2.1
but then is limited to a narrow range of HP printers. Why?
Besause printer manufacturers have not updated their printer firmware to speak "AirPrint". It is up to them to make their printers compatible, not he other way around.

This has nothing to do with Apple. It's somebody hack to get iPads to print through a computer.
AirPrint does not talk through a computer.
It talks directly to the printer on the network.

  • IOS 7.0.4 iPhone4s Bluetooth and WiFi "Off" but Bluetooth spinning

As title mentions, I have an iPhone 4S, running iOS 7.0.4 (the latest as of this writing).
After a holiday trip to Mass., my bluetooth and wifi won't turn back on.  The settings screen shows Airplane mode Off (switch), WiFi Off (word), Bluetooth Off (word).
When I tap on Bluetooth, instead of seeing the switch, I have a spinner.  It says "location accuracy and nearby services are improved when Bluetooth is turned on." and nothing else on the screen...
Soft reset, hard reset, reset network settings, backup and restore, so far none of these processes have helped.  Neither has reactivating airplane mode, using the pop-up control center (it will light up the bluetooth B and say "bluetooth: on", but when I visually check on settings, it still says "off" and has the spinner instead of switch).  I've even tried things like rebooting the phone with airplane mode on to see if that would help.
Due to bluetooth being down, the WiFi switch on it's second screen under settings is disabled and will not activate, even though the pop-up control panel will report the activation of WiFi as well just like it does bluetooth...
About phone will give me a hex bluetooth address, but wifi address is "N/A".  The one time I found the diagnostics logs, I found a bunch of "bluetooth crashed" messages, cannot find them as of this writing again...
Not sure if this has any influence or not, but while I was in MA, at my mom's house who has a very old router, I used my iPad mini to do a Facetime call, and during said call my phone was "ringing" like it wanted to take the call, but I ignored it.  WiFi seemed functional at my mom's house, my nephew had no problem playing angry birds before I left, but I didn't do anything else but imessage my wife and make a phone call at the airport until I landed in St. Louis, where I found the bluetooth non-functional.  iPad is, as of this writing, still fully functional.

I have experienced the same problem and tackled the solutions in very much the same way but to no avail.  Can anyone help as this is very annoying.

  • Is there an easy way to switch iPhone microphone input from headphones to Bluetooth and back?

When driving I plug my iPhone into the car stereo AUX jack with a cable to listen to music. To receive or make phone calls, or to use Siri, I use a Bluetooth (Jawbone) headset.
If I'm playing music out the headphone jack and then answer a call, when the call ends the music starts playing again through the Bluetooth headset, so I have to switch it back to headphones. Theoretically no big deal, since there's the little airplay icon at bottom right in most music apps. Still, I really wish it would revert to playing through the headphone jacks and I didn't have to do anything. Is that possible?
But it gets more annoying. Let's say I decide to use Siri and want to use the bluetooth. This is fine IF I plugged the headphones in before connecting Bluetooth, but for some reason it often seems to happen that it defaults to the headphone jack, especially if I've been messing with it a bit -- say I was listening to music, then received a call, then hung up, so now music plays through Bluetooth, so I hit the icon to switch music back to headphones, though sometimes this doesn't work and I have to unplug and replug in the headphones. But now usually if I want to use Siri, and I hold down the iPhone home button, or even if I hold down the jawbone button, it will often take input still from headphones.
I can't go into all the variations of this that happen, but almost every car ride there's a pain about this -- someone calls but even though I answer through my headset, the input is still from the headphone jack, and i have to scramble to get the call going through Bluetooth again. Or I have to unplug then replug the headphones after Siri use. None of this even covers something other, like dictating text or making a voice memo, something else that need simply but DOESN'T have an AirPlay-style button on bottom right like the music apps do. Really a pain.
Really wish there were some easy switch to toggle the input.
And again, really wish the music would just go back to playing where to was playing from (headphones) instead of making me switch it either via a button or through unplugging/replugging headphones.
    Any solution to this?
    Thanks.

Sometimes you turn off your Bluetooth and then back on and it doesn't reconnect with your phone unless you go into the menu. Either way doesn't help much if someone calls you while you're driving and you realize your iPhone is stuck on headphone input.

It now has a blank bar under the launch pad and no matter how many times I try re-downloading it or restarting my computer it does not work. I use too play starcraft and other games on this computer although new patched/updates have made it that I can no longer do that now. Really frustrating having to deal with this especially after buying this computer upfront and now out of warranty.

Go to your Applications folder and find a file called "Install OS X Mavericks".  Send it to the trash and delete it.  Then try the download again.

  • ¿Why sms and cell calls doesn't work on mac?

I downloaded iOS 8.1 and have yosemite OS installed in my mac. i have tried to use the calls and sms feature but none of this works.
In the calls when i try to call someone a message pops up saying that i must have an iphone and a mac with the same iCloud and FaceTime account. But the devices that i'm using do have the same accounts and still does't work!!
I have noticed that my phone number does't appear with a check and that in the FaceTime of my iphone a message down the switch to activates says "waiting for activation", but i can still make normal FaceTime calls.  does this have something to do? how do i fix it? i have tried to reset the settings but everything is still the same.
In the sms feature the same message "waiting for activation" is down the iMessage title, i can send iMessages but when i try to activate sms a message says "enter the code displayed on the other device" but the code in my mac never shows up. What's the problem here? i have also tried to reset the settings and rebooting the devices but it's the same.   Does this has to do with my phone number being unchecked? the problem is that i can't check it, the opti
    Please help me.

    Hello...
The SMS Relay and Phone Calls only work with a Mac device with Bluetooth 4.0 and later. If you want to see if your device has this, click on the Apple menu in the Menu Bar and choose About this Mac. A window then comes up with device information. Click System Report. On the sidebar, choose Bluetooth. At the top of the window it says Apple Bluetooth Software Version. If the number next to it is less than 4.0, your Mac device is too old. If it is above 4.0, your internet connection may have problems. Also if it says No next to Handoff supported, one of the devices is too old.
    Good luck

  • Agent Desktop Recording and Silent Monitoring with IP Communicator.

Reading through the forums I have seen several posts which make me think this should work, but I can't seem to get silent monitoring or recording using the agent desktop to work when the agent is connected through IP communicator.   Currently I have help desk agents using extension mobility to log into 7962s that are connected to thier desktops running agent desktop connecting to UCCX 7.01.  Silent monitoring and recording work fine with thier hard phones. When I install IP communicator on the PC and log into it using EM, the agent desktop takes control of the IPC just fine and will distribute calls to it, but my recordings are blank and silent monitoring from an supervisor station fails to initialize.  Is there something I am missing in the configuration that is special when using IPC instead of a hard phone?  Thanks in advance.

Couple of things I've learned about the CIPC and monitoring/recording:
No named devices.  Use the SEP + Mac Address of the local Ethernet interface.
Ensure the Ethernet interface can be put into permiscuous mode.
Ensure you are NOT using a shared line appearance for the IPCC Extension.
If you are using CAD to do the monitoring/recording, launch the CIPC before you launch CAD
If you are using SPAN, ensure the CIPC RTP traffic will traverse the network where the SPAN interface is located.
If you are calling phone-to-phone, know that the CIPC will attempt to negoitiate G.722.  UCCX cannot monitor/record G.722.  Set the region or call to the PSTN where you can guarantee a G.711 or G.729 call.

We are using a Cisco 7940 series phone.  I have two new hire CSR's coming soon.  I want them to be able to sit with an experienced CSR and silent monitor calls as they are taken, without using a speaker.  I can't find the solution to this anywhere.  Surely I'm not the first manager to want to do this!  Help!!!!!

    UPDATE:
Our headsets are Plantronics, Model CS55.  They will  not sync up to one base station.  A "headset training adaptor" can be purchased, part# 03929-63, for $39.95, from several sources.  The adaptor is nothing more than the  "Y" adaptor I just purchased from Radio Shack.  However, it does have a mute button for each user.  Our headsets have mute buttons but, they beep every 15 seconds when on mute.
I don't think the cost will put us out of business and sounds like the better answer.  I'm the newbie at this organization and am a little amazed they've trained using open speakers all this time.
Thank you everyone for the ideas!
