3.1 won't launch after recent update

I have successfully uninstalled 3.0 and 3.1 then I reinstalled 3.0 (admin & client). All is well and then I try to upgrade the admin to 3.1. Installation is successful, but when I try to launch, it automatically quits with no error.
I am happy to return to 3.0 and avoid this unpleasantness, but several clients on my network have already updated their client software to 3.1 during a recent Apple software update.
Does anyone know if I can use 3.0 admin to successfully administer 3.1 clients?
Why is 3.1 admin not launching?

Check your system log... that may tell you something.
Offhand, I'd guess that you've managed to get a 3.0 agent and an 3.1 admin installed on your admin machine.

  • Speedgrade CC won't open after recent update

After a recent update Speedgrade CC will not open. I get the following error message.
    Speedgrade exe.-Entry Point Not Found
    The Procedure Entry Point
?create@recycledMemory@utility@dvzcore@@SA?AV?$hared_ptr@VRecycledMemory@utility@dvacore@@ boost@@XZ could not be found in the dynamic library dvacore.dll
Anyone have any ideas about this problem?
    Thanks

I was having the same issues with speegrade CC 2014, I tried all the things with clearing logs (although there weren't really any), setting permissions, etc. But in the end, I finally got it to launch! Here is what I did:
    1. (not sure if necessary) I selected the SG CC 2014 folder in the Applications folder and set the permissions to read&write for all (and applied to enclosing items).
    2. Open Terminal and enter sudo mode: Just type in "sudo -s" (without quotation marks of cause)
    3. Type user password and hit Enter
    4. In Finder, navigate to "/Applications/Adobe SpeedGrade CC 2014/Adobe SpeedGrade CC 2014.app/Contents/MacOS/sgmacosx"
    5. now drag that file into the Terminal window and hit Enter.
The Terminal does show me a few errors, but SpeedGrade does start without problems!
Since I haven't used SG ever, I don't know if it's stable or works in it's entirety like this. But maybe it does. At least this way it launches.
PS: SG also launches by using the file "SpeedGrade" or "SpeedGradeCmd", not only "sgmacosx". Though I don't know if that makes a difference...

  • Macbook won't start after recent update

    Hi Guys,
Got a problem with a month old Macbook. Clicked for the recent updates and after it restarting the Macbook won't start up past the Apple logo and the rotating symbol beneath it.
Any ideas ? Thanks in advance
    Nick

    Hi Nick,
    Check out these two articles:

Running Disk Utility and trying to verify the startup volume or starting up in Safe Mode would probably be the next best course of action.

  • Adobe Photoshop CS5 won't launch after Mac update

I updated my mac yesterday to Maverick and now Adobe Photoshop CS5 won't launch.  Can you tell me what files I need to delete to get it to launch.  I tried reinstalling it, and that didn't help.
    thanks

It's very strange.  When I try to double click on the program to open it,
it's like I'm doing nothing.  it sort of blinks like it's going to open but
does nothing.  That's the way it is if I control click and try to open too.
I did try to reboot.  Is there something I could delete in the Library
    file or something?
    thanks

  • ITunes won't launch after latest update

    Hi.
I've just downloaded and installed (through system update) the latest iTunes version and now it won't launch. It worked perfectly fine fine before the update but now it won't open. Icon bounces then just stops... Any ideas!? Thank you!

    Thanks for the replies...
It seems alot of people are having this trouble, I do have shapeshifter on my system, I'll try adding iTunes to the exclude list and see if that does anything. I'll try your suggestion with the library folder, does that mean to trash the iTunes library folder or just move it out of where it is? What I don't get is how it can be corrupted, it worked perfectly before the update

  • 10.5.2 won't reinstall after recent updates to system

! You cannot install Mac OS X Update Combined on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update.
This appears after trying to update MacBook after recent either Security, Airport or Time Machine, or perhaps another update since March 11, 2008.
    Anyone else seeing this?

My precaution is to startup from another disk and run Disk Utility's Repair Disk routine periodically (about once a month). You can use your Mac OS X installation disk, or create a small bootable maintenance disk like my 20GB external drive (you can even use an iPod if it's big enough). If the update is significant, such as a dot dot system update, I also do this Repair Disk just before the update.
Then BEFORE and AFTER the update, when booted back normally, I use Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions.
When upgrading to the next major release (Panther -> Tiger -> Leopard), I use the Archive and Install installation instead of the default Upgrade installation.
Going all the way back to Panther, on several PowerPC and one Intel Mac, I have never had a problem after doing an update using Software Update. And I install all available updates immediately.

  • Site won't open after recent update

I am working using an OLD version of iweb (1.1.2 I think) and after the most recent software update it will not open my existing pages any longer. All I get is the option to build new pages. I can find the files for the old ones, but they won't open. It used to ask me which domain I wanted to open, but now it just goes straight to opening the app and asking me to create a new one. Am I the only one with this problem??? If not, does anyone have any ideas? Help!! I really don't want to have to re-build the site from scratch again. Thanks.

  • Safari won't launch after security update. ATSServer issue?

I installed Security Update 2008-007, restarted my machine and went to launch Safari. The icon bounced but the menu bar at the top didn't change to Safari and after a few minutes I got a window appear telling me Safari had quit unexpectedly.
I went through some forums and tried a bunch of fixes: I re-installed, trashed the prefs, history etc, removed all the plug-ins but none of this worked.
In the end I found mention of the ATSServer, which I killed in the terminal. Immediately Safari launched. What's the issue here? Has the latest update caused a problem with ATSServer?
    My Mac is:
    System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.5 (9F33)
    Model Name: Mac mini
    Model Identifier: PowerMac10,1
    Processor Name: PowerPC G4 (1.1)
    Processor Speed: 1.42 GHz
    Number Of CPUs: 1
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
    Memory: 1 GB
    Bus Speed: 167 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: 4.8.9f1

I presume when you were doing the Repair function booted from the CD that eventually you said "Repair" and it scanned the drive and said in green, "No problems found" or similar stuff.
Another way to effect repairs is to hold down the Shift key at Startup, which does a Disk Repair as it starts up, so it takes a while longer that usual, then loads the smallest-possible set of extensions and boots into "Safe Mode".
Directory problems like "Keys out of order" or reports that there is a problem, but Disk Utility cannot repair it are a serious concern, and may require industrial-strength disk recovery tools.

  • Finder won't launch after Firmware Update

I ran the firmware update for my MBP (MBP31.0070.B07). Now, my finder will not automatically launch upon restart/login. I can click on the Finder icon in the dock and launch the finder, but it won't do so on its own.

    Weird...
Go into /Applications/Utilities/Console.app. Click on "Console Messages" on the left side. Is there anything specifically mentioning the Finder in the text that appears on the right side from around the time you logged in? Then check LOG FILES->~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter. Are there any crash logs listed with Finder in the name? If so, copy/paste the bottom one into a reply and post it up. With that info we might be able to figure out what is going on with your machine... Good luck...

  • Motion 5 won't launch after yosemite update

After updating to yosemite on both my iMac and my Macbook pro, Motion will not launch on the iMac but it will on the pro. A window pops up after attempting to launch, saying: "You can’t use this version of the application “Motion” with this version of OS X. You have “Motion” 5.0.5."
    Any ideas? Much Thanks.

You need to login to the App Store with the same Apple ID that you bought Motion 5 with for the update to show up.

  • Mail won't launch after latest update

I have tried the shift key and moving the Mail cache folder to the desktop with no luck.
    Mail will simply not launch.
I suppose I will have to do an archive/install unless anybody here has any other ideas.

Please, clarify. Is it that Mail doesn’t launch at all, or that it freezes upon start up? These are completely different problems, but your post gives the impression that you have the former and have tried things meant for the later...
Also, checking what happens on another user account isn’t supposed to “help”, but rather is meant to determine whether the problem is system-wide or confined to a particular user account, which isn’t clear from your post either...
Problems arising right after installing a system update are usually the result of the problem already being there, or some filesystem corruption that should have been fixed first, or not having installed the update properly (e.g. applications running while installing it), or having ignored Apple’s “Important: Please read before installing” warnings, etc.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all the filesystem issues, if any, reinstall any updates that may not have been installed properly. It may also be necessary to reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with the computer:
About the Mac OS X 10.4.11 Update
Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update for PowerPC
Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update for Intel
After installing the Combo Update, the computer may restart twice and the first restart may take several minutes. This is normal.
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
    Troubleshooting installation and software updates
    Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk and back up before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed.

  • Itunes won't open after recent update

I just updated my Itunes to the newest version for my mac which is under the operating system version 10.6.8 and now it will not open. Any suggestions?

  • Won't launch after security update!

I downloaded the latest Security Update (and something else) 12th Feb release(?), clicked on Restart and it just hung on the daisy wheel. Tried Restart button and holding Power button and also Apple/Alt/P/R for two chimes and also 4 chimes - still just getting the daisy wheel.
So where do I go from here? Should I re-load OS X?

I presume when you were doing the Repair function booted from the CD that eventually you said "Repair" and it scanned the drive and said in green, "No problems found" or similar stuff.
Another way to effect repairs is to hold down the Shift key at Startup, which does a Disk Repair as it starts up, so it takes a while longer that usual, then loads the smallest-possible set of extensions and boots into "Safe Mode".
