No Dbl page answer, but you might want to decrease the printer timeout
settings..........

  • HELP!!  Photoshop cs4 and Windows 8 - Printer Not Found

Just installed PS cs4 on my new all-in-one with Windoz 8 and my cs4 is saying that there is no printer installed.  I can print from other sources like disks and picture viewer.  Are there any fixes for this???  I REALLY don't want to purchase yet another license for cs6!

If you search Google using the terms "CS4 and Windows 8 compatibility" you can probably find various results from both Adobe and Microsoft that should give you some idea of how much of a gamble you might face in changing your OS.
In my own experience, a change in OS has yet to be a positive experience... while most people loved XP in its day, I suffered years of poor performance with it as an upgrade from the moment it was installed and regretted doing it.  Maybe you've had better experience and aren't as shy of it as I am.

  • USB 3 and Windows 8 very slow

    Greetings.
I'm new on this forum allthough I have had this mobo about ½ year, but when I tried to get Windows 8 Pro upand running I ran into troubble.
Intel Rapid Start don't work in Win8, worked really good in Win7
Can't switch "Windows 8" feature on in BIOS (have read here, that I'm not the only one with that problem)
But my biggest complain is the performance of USB3. I use it for backup, and it is very slow compared to Windows 7. I can't find any USB3 driver on MSI's download. I know ASUS has made an "USB3 BOOST" but I don't know what it is, or if it is helping. Windows 8 has native driversupport for USB3, but it is only to get it to basic work, much much slower than the same USB3 port in Windows 7. Does anyboby know how to raise the USB3 speed?
Sorry for my English. As I'm danish, English is not my first language, but I hope you get the meaning of this

Could well be a driver issue as you mentioned. MSI doesn't make the drivers, they are supplied new ones by the vendor of the hardware. Normally they are tested by the MSI engineers first, certified to be good, and then released on their webite for download. The growing pains of 'Vista' 8 (sarcasm) continue!

  • Macbook Pro and Windows Network Printing

My family just had their PC's hooked up wirelessly on a network. Printing and everything else was all set up wirelessly also. The computer and the laptop work just fine, but for some reason we can't get my mac to hook up to the printing network. We can share itunes and internet, it's just the printing that won't work.
Any suggestions? We had a computer tech come out to help us set it up, but he couldn't figure it out either.
Thanks, I appreciate all the help I can get.

I sort of have the same problem. I have a desktop computer running Windows XP with all the latest drivers and an HP PSC 1315 All-In-One printer attached via USB to the desktop. I have been trying to install or add the printer using my MacBook via the home network (wirelessly via the router). I have tried several of the offered methods such as adding via windows and IP address. I do see the printer and upon adding it, it asks for a username and password, to my knowledge, we do not have one setup. I have also tried to add it as a guest. It still won't let me add and successfully print from my MacBook to the HP PSC 1315. Does anyone have an idea to solve this problem? Thank you very much.

  • Samba cups and windows 8: printer spools but will not print.

    Hello,
I have samba and cups setup. I have been trying to connect to my windows printer. Here is my setup
    Arch linux linux-3.12.1-3
    samba-4.1.2-1
    cups-1.7.0-2
    Windows 8.1
    no firewalls
    Samba config
    [global]
    security = user
    #passdb backend = tdbsam
    #username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
    workgroup = Bobshouse
    encrypt passwords = yes
    wins support = yes
    log level = 1
    max log size = 1000
    read only = no
    #disable netbios = yes
    printing = cups
    printcap = cups
    [homes]
    browsable = no
    map archive = yes
    [Shared]
    browsable = yes
    read only = yes
    path = /home/bob/Share
for cups some things I have tried are
    lpd://hostname/printer
    smb://username:password@hostname/printer_name
I can see the printer with smbclient
So the printer spools, but will not print. the paper does not move I just hear the printer. Also when I watch the print queues in windows and linux. Cups shows that it sent the document, but when I watch the windows queue it shows the document, but the size of the document stays at 32 kb out of 1.8 mb and says printing. I hope this makes sense. I am just trying to keep things very simple at this point. I just want to understand what the problem is and build on it.

Please provide the following relevant information so someone can help including:
    Printer Model - done
Complete and Detailed Problem Description -
Operating System of computer (including service pack revision) - done
Connection Method - USB, Hardwired LAN, Wireless? -
Make and model of router and modem? -
Error messages - on printer screen and/or computer, any blinking light patterns?
If wireless, when the problem occurs, what is status of Blue Wireless light on printer, on, off or blinking? –
Power off printer and router. Power on router and wait 3 mins, power on printer. Does it connect to the router now? Do you have a valid IP address?

  • Crystal 10 RCD and Windows (Advanced) Print Dialog Box

Years ago I wrote a Crystal Viewer program and Crystal Support showed me how to change the Viewer Print Dialog box so it would use the Advanced Print Dialog (I believe it used the Windows Print Dialog). Does anyone know how to set the RDC Viewer to use a Print Dialog that allows changing the printer and not just the default Print Dialog box that only shows settings for the default windows printer? I no longer have the source code for the program I wrote before and can't remember what to set and I have now written a new Viewer that I want to include the ability to change printers.

  • Reader X and Windows 7 Printing Issue

We have upgraded are PC from windows xp to windows 7 64bit. When i try to print a PDF from the internet, sometimes it will print then, most of the time the PDF goes to non-responsive. I have to start the task manager and end the task, which closes the browser only thing i have found to work is if i do a resart of the PC.

    Good day,
Could you provide some additional details about both the file and your system's configuration?
What version of Adobe Reader X do you have installed? (Help > About Adobe Reader)
If you haven't updated to 10.0.3, please do so and see if the issue persists.
How was the PDF file you're searching created?  (File > Document Properties > What does the PDF Producer line say?)
Are you experiencing this with multiple files?
Have you installed SP1 for Windows 7?

  • Qosmio X500-10T - 8GB of Ram and Windows 7 64 slowness?

I have the 8GB of RAM, and am using the Windows 7 64bit as standard with the computer, but am finding loading into windows painfully slow. How can this be? Ive disabled lots of the startup programs that I dont need, and this has made no difference.
Anyone know of any speed tweaks for this OS?

    Hi
I dont know how much RAM you had before but for Windows boot procedure it makes no difference if you have 8, 4 or 3GB RAM. Windows 7 with all drivers need less as 1GB RAM. You will only notice a performance boost of 8GB RAM if you open a lot of programs they need much RAM, like games, video editing, etc.
Furthermore what do you understand under long boot procedure? 1 minute? 2 minute? 3 minute?
In my opinion everything is ok up to 1 or 2 minutes boot procedure but I noticed that everyone think different about this.
What you can do to improve this is defragment HDD, disable startup programs that you dont need and install only programs that you really need.

  • Server 2008r2 and windows 7 pro slow to no networkshare file searching and file access (green progress bar)

we are running a windows server 2008r2 sp1 domain controller and a 3com gigabit switch to which 7 windows 7 pro computers are connected. We are only using the windows server to distribute a few printers and as a network share (z drive).
we are storing all files (word documents only) centrally on the server (z share), and files are accessed and written to the z share.
Problem is that file access from the z share on the windows 7 client computers is at best buggy. we are able to browse the z-share, but as soon as we want to search the z-share for files (f.i. use file explorer with "content: memorandum") the green
progress bar shows and no search is performed. something like alphabetically sorting a directory on map/file name on the z-share also shows a green bar with no sorting. manually going to the files works.
One thing i noticed, sometimes not all files that one user created and stored on the server is visible and can be found by another user. I prefer to disable all offline file caching setting, because that feature is not used. no files should be made accessible
offline. i don't know where to change that on the server side.
I am reluctant to experiment on the server end (2008r2 sp1), so i tried a few suggested solutions on the client end (windows 7 client)
I tried disabling offline file caching
i tried properties (z share) ==> advanced and map optimizing and several options there
i tried disabling the smbv2 protocol and disabling the smbv1 protocol (using
sc.exe config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi command etc. posted by microsoft)
    i tried disabling windows defender
i tried accessing the z share via ip and server name (the share is mapped via its servername, e.g. dennis-dc1\share). still the same
file searching on the clients c drive ('own harddrive') works much better, file searching on the server also works.
any suggestions or solutions that i can test on the client side, as mentioned i am reluctant to change something on the server side. if a solutions works, i prefer to change it on the server side.

    Hi,
The issue could be due to windows indexing service taking long time in sorting and searching in mapped drives. Please try the steps belwo to disable windows indexing service or search service on the windows 7 client to resolve the issue.
You can click on Start and select Control Panel, click on
Programs and Features, go into the Turn Windows Features on or off section Scroll down the list and uncheck the box next to Indexing Service or Windows Search.
    Best Regards,
    Mandy

  • HP 4250DTN and windows server 2008 R2, slow printing

ok, so here is my deal,
majority of my printers are HP 4250DTN, some 4650's and 4700's
i have tried probably every driver from universal to PCL (5e, 6), PS, all possible combinations and still running
into the same issue when trying to print over the network,
i have two Windows 2008 R2 servers in cluster setup as File/Print server,
clients are Windows XP Pro, couple Win7 Pro or Ent.
In either case when i try to install a network printer on a client computer i can install it but managing and printing
is a looooong process, if i just hit print button (in word, adobe,...) it takes about 2 minutes to print the page,
if i want to change any printing properties it takes forever to get anywhere.
i've tried this with all available different printer drivers
(HP Universal works fast but i can not use this driver in my environment because we use customized tray and paper setting and this driver does NOT allow me to customize these),
i am assuming it has to be something with printer drivers, because i am still running old 2003 servers as file/print cluster on two different servers
and when installing a printer through that it prints immediately as it should, no matter if i am on Win7 or WinXP client.
I am trying to migrate everything to new 2008 file print cluster but with this issue i am at the stand still right now.
    any help much appreciated.
    Thank you

I have Windows 2003 servers with the Universal PCL6 driver v5,4.  It printed slower then the previous version.  I manually changed the Device Settings, mainly the Monochrome / Color option.  This seemed to make the print process faster.

  • SMB Network Share Access slow (MAC OS X SL and Windows 2008 Server)

    Hi,
I've added some iMacs with 10.6 to the Active Directory. This works totally fine. Anyways, I have some trouble, when accessing shares on my network. I found out, that some problems came up, because my network name was XXX.XXX.local I changed the Domain name of the Active Directory, but still the problems exist:
When opening the finder, Open Office or Microsoft Word on the Mac and browsing through files and folders, it sometimes takes up to 30 seconds and more, until the content of a folder appears... I already tried ADmitMac from Thursby, but it didn't seem to fix this problem. When accessing the shares from a Windows machine, they run pretty fast. Any idea?

I too have the exact same problem and need to figure it out soon. Very slow response times. It seems the server is getting over utilized (look at your resource monitor).
    Current configuration are:
MAC OS 10.6.4 using a Windows 2008x64 as a file server. Clients are connecting via SMB.
    Whats the common denominator here?
Our users are using Adobe InDesign 3. When users open the file located on the server and submits a print job directly to the printer, the InDesign links ( some files contain around 100 ) reach back to the server to reference the file before it prints. This may be why the server's resources are heavily affected and may be the reason why it may cause slow response times for other MAC users who try and save, open or copy files from / to the server. We have not found a soultion and all things mentioned here including the internet links did not work. We are still testing other variables (copy the Indesign files locally to detemine if print times decrease, etc. Any comments appreciated.

  • Start to print and then it prints really slow or stops all together. Desktop computer "Compac"

My printer is an HP DESKJET3050A ALL-IN-ONE J611 SERIES.  Operating system installed is Windows XP  No i have not made any changes

It sounds like the printer is not getting enough power or there may be a faulty ink cartridge.
To confirm if it is isolated to the printer or somewhere else, try copying a page to see if it is printing slow from a copy.
Is the printer connected to a surge protector?  If so, try connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet.  Did this help?
The next step is to look at the ink cartridges.  An easy test to see if the cartridges may be at fault is to try printing a text only document with the black ink cartridge removed.
Did it still print slow? It will still be slow since it will be mixing the colors to make black, but it should be faster than it was before if a faulty cartridge was at fault.
If it still print really slow with the black cartridge removed, try putting the black back in and removing the color cartridge.  Did it still print slow?
    Let me know what happens.

  • I installed a new printer and set it as the Windows default printer but Thunderbird won't find it.

Using Windows 8.1 - x64 - Thunderbird 31.3.0 (Firefox 34.0.5 has found the new default printer)
I read about resetting printer.printer_printer and printer_printer but....
printer.printer_printer did not exist in the file.
Then I found printer_printer and chose "reset" closed and saved the file then closed and restarted Thunderbird.
But now the printer_printer command has disappeared completely from the file and the old printer info was left unchanged.
Then I went to the Windows "Printers and Devices" menu and deleted the old printer that Thunderbird was pointing to.
Then I closed Thunderbird again restarted Thunderbird and now the "print" command in the file menu is greyed out.
(Also the old printer info is still unchanged in the config file )
I would reinstall Thunderbird and just start over except I have about a dozen email accounts on several servers and have spent a lot of time recently on reconfiguring them to work on upgraded servers. Also I don't know how to save my emails if I reinstall Thunderbird (Is it possible to do this?)
I've googled for ideas but haven't found anything beyond the reset function.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I've rebooted numerous times, reloaded the software twice, spent 4 hrs on the phone with HP and 2 with Adobe. No luck. It simply doesn't show the new printer in the drop down menu for Pro or Reader and yet shows time in all in Office, Paint, Web options. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

We use HP OfficeJet 100 mobile printers and have a printing issue. When we print the printer acts as if it is going to print and then prints one blank page.Printer will not print even though it is showing as default printer.Printer will just stop printing in the middle of a document, even in the middle of printing out a page. We are printing via the USB cableWe are using Windows 8.1We are connecting to laptopsWe have been using the HP mobile range of printers since 2004 and have only experienced these issues since we moved the laptops onto Windows 8/8.1 We have:Uninstalled and reinstalled the printer drivers – this fixed this issue for a short while and then it reappeared againCalled HP support and they directed us to the driver support page which had the latest print drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled drivers with them on the phone. This initially fixed the problem and then it returned a few days laterAfter trawling the support forums found directions to change the print processor to “WinPrint” – No effect as the processor was already on this settingDownloaded the HP diagnostic tool – HP Print and Scan Doctor – didn’t fix anything Any further help would be much appreciated.

Hello there Lawrence, Welcome to the Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience
I noticed your post about the troubles you are running into when you attempt to install your OJ 6100 printer on your Windows 8.1 laptop. I read all of your attempts and seen you have tried several methods to try and get the installation to complete successfully.
I would like to make some suggestions that may help. Let me know how it goes!
    1. Check that Internet Explorer pop-up blockers are turned off before downloading the installer
Internet Explorer Pop-up Blocker: How do I turn off Pop-up Blocker?
    Try to install
    2. If you're running McAfee Live Safe or any other firewall, please temporarily disable the "real time scanning".
    How to disable realtime scans
    Try the install
    3. Go to the start screen (you may also press the windows key + R to open the run box) and type %WINDIR% this should show the windows folder.
Click on the folder and scroll until you see files. Look for a filed named "HPWINS*.DAT" (the * is for a number that varies) remove this file and try the installation.
    Try the install

  • Printing in Windows 8 and Windows RT

    Wow!  It Just Prints
You can easily print when you connect your new Windows 8 tablet, laptop, or desktop to your existing network with this HP printer.
HP has included basic (in-OS) drivers for your printer with the Windows 8 operating system and published two Windows 8 store applications.
    What “just works”
Basic direct and network print from Windows 8 start tile programs like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox.
    Basic print from desktop applications
Scan from desktop applications like MS Word and Paint.
Ink Level information from HP Printer Control and Scan from HP Scan and Capture Windows 8 store application.
You do not have to download any software or insert the printer CD.
At a high level, three steps are needed:
Connect the new Windows 8 tablet or PC to a home network with a connected HP Printer
Download HP Printer Control from the Windows 8 store.
Download HP Scan and Capture from the Windows 8 store.
Connect the new Windows 8 tablet or PC to a home network with a connected HP Printer
1.1. After a tablet or PC with Windows 8 is connected to a home network, HP basic print and scan drivers are connected automatically.
1.1.1.   To print from an internet browser, move to the far right of the screen to open the “charms” menu, and open devices
1.1.2.   Networked printers will be displayed as an option to print to.
1.2.  From the desktop, open an application and choose file > print.
2 Download HP Printer Control and HP Scan and Capture from the Windows 8 store.
3.1. View Ink Levels and other printer information from the HP Printer Control
3.3. Scan from HP Scan and Capture
To have fuller features of your printer, install the full featured hp.com drivers.
    This is need to get:
                            boarderless photo printing
                            scan to pdf
                            toolbox functions like printer maintenance
From HP Printer Control, select “Get Full Featured Software”.

    Hello jnapier99
The Officejet 6500 E709n does have a Windows 8 driver, however, it does not have a Windows 8 RT driver which is what the MS Surface tablet uses. This would explain the message you are receiving.
