3.15" CD stuck in iBook G4 ?????? HELP

I inserted a small 3.15" CD into my iBook G4 CD drive and now it does not come out again no matter what i do
is there any trick?

Dont Panic,
Here's what you do:
Hold your iBook sideways hold eject and try shaking it out.
If that doesnt work get a piece of card and try prying out the CD.
Good luck!

    (1) My iBooks Author help resources are in a foreign language. How do I change it to English? (2) Is there an iBooks Author pdf manual I can download?

    There is no PDF available. I sent a link  to a page full of links and info not much different from the help files.
    There are many Free books in the iBooks store which will take you through the basics of iBA.
    I  like "Create your first Interactive book using iBooks Author"   its created by iBook-Widgets.com - who also  supply widgets at a price.. but the book is very free and very good.. search the iBooks store for their title.
    You cannot use iBA on an iPad, however, I also use the iPad app --  "Book Creater"   ( redjumper.net ) its very low priced around $3 or so. The people who  create it are helpful and friendly. You can distribut your books to friends and family  using  Dropbox or other cloud storage. If you want to creaet an ePub file and then upload to the iBooks store, its not difficult.  You create the book on your iPad. It is no where near as good as iBA for functionality.. but it spossible to  make really good eBooks.
    I think Applecare shoud come into effect with the language problems if it can be  found to be a glitch on the computer.  Applecare is product based and does not apply to software.
    Take it stage by stage,   visit your Apple store and   ask if they can solve the help files in langauges first, then  react to the answer, it could be they can solve the issue which leave you a clear path with iBA.
    Also you can  gather more indormation about how to use it with the help files.
    Try the info I have  included and   see how it develpops... any problems get back here and we can look for alternatives.
    try this... https://itunes.apple.com/app/id661166101?mt=8&&referrer=click%3Da63089e4-e3d4-49 e9-896a-58e0cfd50acf
    its the free version... if you like upgrade later.
    Happy New Year... hope its a good one....

  • IBooks Author help persists in opening in French.

    After downloading iBooks Author, help opened once, the first time, in English.  Ever since it persists in opening in French.  I have quit and restarted app a number of times, but always opens help in French.  I can see the web page in English, but not help.
    Thanks.

    I belive you are refering to the help files accessed by opening the iBooks Author app, and then selecting from the Menu bar at the top: Help > iBooks Author Help. Correct me if I'm wrong.
    Those help files seem to derive their language from the preferred ones in the current user account language preferences. If you open the System Preferences app, and select Language & Region, what is listed under Preferred Languages? If French is on the list, and you don't ever use the language, try removing it. If removing it is not an option for you, at least drag it to the bottom of the list.

    After selecting "Tones" within iTunes on iPad, I cannot get back to the regular music section. I am eternally stuck inside Tones. Help !! It's driving me nuts.

    I copied this from an extremely knowledgable iTunes for Windows user in another discussion. Maybe this will help.
    In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
    ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
    CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
    CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
    CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
    Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
    Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit (iTunes) > Preferences > Store anduntick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
    If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit(iTunes) > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
    With iTunes 11.0.3 you can enable artwork in the Songs and playlist views from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view.
    If you are a Mac user, all you have to do is start navigating through the menu items at the top of the screen to find just about everything that is mentioned here.

  • Stuck at Darwin Screen HELP! iBook G4

    The other day I was simultaneously burning a DVD and downloading a large file. The DVD burn was taking slower than usual but I thought nothing of it. However, I noticed that partway through the burn I was unable to use any of my applications (Firefox, iTunes, etc...). The burn completed and the DVD turned out fine, but I was still unable to use said applications. So I forced the iBook G4 to turn off by holding the power button down for 10 seconds.
    Here's where the problem started:
    When I turned it back on I was stuck at the Darwin screen. I'm not really a computer guy and this was the first time I'd ever seen the screen. The screen read the following:
    "Darwin/BSD (michael-coughlins-ibook-g4.loca) (console)"
    I can't do anything from here. I'm able to type in my user name and password, which changes thing a bit and says:
    "Last login: Mon May 8 17:53:22 on console
    Welcome to Darwin!
    michael-coughlins-ibookg$:~ michaelcoughlin$"
    But nothing after that.
    I've tried doing Disc Utility (inserted the disc and started the computer up while holding "C") with the installation disc and it said it fixed a "minor problem." But, I'm still stuck at the Darwin screen.
    Any idea's on how to fix this?
    I'm open to just reloading everything, but I'd desperately like to get all my iTunes files and a few old home video's of my family's recently deceased dog. When I'm using disc utility I was able to see my old files sometimes. It tells me that I've got 8 GB free of the original 60 GB (which should be correct).
    If I can't fix it, is there a way to grab those files and then reload everything?
    Many thanks in advance (especially to macjack who's been helping me so far)

    You cannot use a Windows PC and try to back-up a Mac in FireWire Target Disk Mode. Windows PCs can't read Mac-formatted hard drives. (At least, not without some third party software.)
    If you run an "Archive & Install", there is an option to select to preserve users and also network settings. As long as you enable that option your files & preferences should be just fine. This does not affect any software you may have installed. This will, of course, return your iBook to whichever version of Mac OS X is on your install disk. You may need to run the software update afterwards so you're up-to-date.

  • Ibook G4 help please!!!

    Hello everyone,
    I need help with my IBOOK G4. I have power and I hear the fan and the start up sound, but it gets stuck on the gray screen with the apple in the middle and the circle spinning. I am trying to use the software restore and install disc to start it up and it won't read it. I turned it on and help down the power button and the "C" key and it still gets stuck on the gray screen. I am not concerned with saving any data or software, I just want it to turn on. Anyone have any other suggestions?
    Thank you.

    Maybe taking out the battery and disconnecting power supply for a few minutes? Can you hear the CD drive spinning, or even trying to? Had it been acting up at all?
    How old is the iBook?

  • Stuck at apple logo, Help?

    Hi, I had 3 user accounts, 1 which was hardly used. Well I was using the hardly used account a couple of weekends ago surfing the web and it suddenly froze & got the spinning beach ball. I tried to restart and it got stuck at the loading apple gray screen. It takes about 40 minutes just to get to the login screen and the computer is extremely slow after that. disk repair said HD is fine. I deleted that user account & still no luck. I'm only working in safe mode. Any ideas? thanks

    You have several issues.  One is that the model MBP that you have is known to have the following video problems:

    In addition I note that you have Avast installed.  Rid your MBP of this unnecessary AV software.  Unless you have a Blackberry device, rid the MBP of all Rim components.

  • My iPod touch is stuck in recovery mode, help?

    A few hours ago, I tried updating my 5th generation iPod touch to iOS 8. It ran into an error and couldn't update, which left my iPod touch stuck in recovery mode with a screen showing a USB cord pointing to an iTunes symbol. I tried searching for ways to get my iPod out of recovery mode without restoring it to its factory settings, but after a couple hours of seeking, I decided I might as well just restore it. I clicked the restore button, and when it finished, it said that my iPod touch couldn't be restored either. Now, I have no clue what to do. May I have some help?

    That error is covered here:
    Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build" - Apple Support
    If iTunes can’t communicate with the update server, you may see one of these messages.

    I have the latest iTunes, but it seems to get stuck on the back up stage; its not that it can't back up as it happens every time I connect, but when I click upgrade to ios 6, then it suddenly takes a long time and eventually just doesn't go anywhere. even left it running overnight but didn't happen. Just doesn't take the next step of uploading the operating system. help would be greatly appreciated, have been trying to do this for two days now

  • IAd Producer and iBooks widget help

    Hello!
    I'm trying to use iAd Producer to create a drawing widget for an iBooks project. So far, I've been able to customize the standard drawing object and it works flawlessly on the iAd Producer Preview and in Safari, but not on the iOS Simulator nor the iPad.
    In the widget, there are 2 brush sizes available (small and large) and I'm trying to give visual feedback to the user, letting them know which one they selected. Initially I started with buttons but that didn't work because buttons don't have a style for on/off to let the user know that that button is selected.
    I switched to radio buttons, which works great on the preview but not the actual device. Here's the code I'm using:
    HTML:
    <label class="brushFrame">
    <input id="smallBrush" class="brush" type="radio" name="brush" value="small"><img src="assets/brush.png" />
    </label>
    <label class="brushFrame">
    <input id="largeBrush" class="brush" type="radio" name="brush" value="large"><img src="assets/brush.png" />
    </label>
    CSS:
    label.brushFrame > input.brush {
      display:none;
    label.brushFrame > input.brush + img {
      cursor: pointer;
      width: 50%;
      height: auto;
      position: relative;
      z-index: 1;
      transition: all 0.1s ease-in-out;
    label.brushFrame > input.brush:checked + img {
      opacity: 0.75 !important;
      z-index: 10 !important;
    Basically, the brush should become transparent when the user selects it and because it's a radio button, it will stay transparent until the user selects the other brush. The iOS Simulator and iPad are able to render all the CSS correctly, except for when the radio button is ":checked". Background: This is my first widget and I'm very comfortable with CSS but not JavaScript.
    How can I make this work?

    Many thanks for your reply patixa. Apologies for my incorrect typing of IDs, in my iAd code they do match.
    I have managed to resolve the problem as follows:
    All of my iAd content was originally on the Background layer. Placing the content on Page1 has resolved the problem.
    I'm not certain as to why the project worked in iAd producer preview/Safari/Widget preview but not in iBooks but no matter, switching to Page 1 solves it completely.
    I notice from a few of the problems people have posted that they have a similar situation and wonder if this might be something that would help them. I've not posted replies but wonder if someone more experienced might offer a view.
    Many thanks again to patixa, your kindness is greatly appreciated.

  • Iphone stuck in infinite loop, HELP!

    my iphone after resetting all settings through settings>general>reset, is stuck in an infinite loop.
    it turns on, shows the apple logo, then about a minute later the loading symbol appears, after 10mins it quickly flashs black and then starts the loop again, i have left it for over 12 hours, to see if it will fix itself, but it wont.
    i cant get it into dfu or recovery mode, it wont even turn off until it runs out of battery and then repeats its loop. when i charge it it just starts the loop again!
    please i really need help, if i cant resolve this problem, im not going to buy the ipad and the iphone 4g as i planned to do so.
    please could anyone help!

    If you can't get your iPhone into DFU or recovery mode, there is a major problem. You can make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
    This is a user to user help forum only, so doubtful if any fellow users will lose any sleep over your threat not to purchase an iPad or the next generation iPhone when released if this problem cannot be resolved. If not, more than likely there is a hardware problem or failure. If a problem arises with your PC that you cannot resolve, are you not going to purchase another PC either?
