3.2.09.30 on Win 7 (64bit) -- help not showing up

Nothing is showing up from either Help->Search or Help->Table of Contents. A task named "Help Center" does appear in task manager but switching to that task has no noticable affect.
As indicated in the subject, this is a new install of 3.2.09.30 on a Windows 7 64bit O/S. However, just before posting this I decided to try it from the previous SQL Developer version (3.1.07.42) which I still had installed and the same thing happened there. That explains why I didn't see anyone else complaining about it.
Still.... I would welcome any ideas on how to diagnose/fix it. The problem with the Help not showing up is the only issue I have noticed.

Hi Brad,
Have you at some stage had a second monitor screen connected to your computer?
If so, then one possibility is that you displayed SQL Developer Help on that second monitor. Next time you use Help it will attempt to display it in the same place (even if the monitor is no longer connected).
I believe when you upgrade from version 3.1.07.42 to 3.2.09.30 it will preserve this setting.
To make it visible again, you can either reconnect the second monitor, or you can move the Help window back onto the main screen as follows:
1. Bring up the Help Center (so that it should be the active window)
2. Type Alt Space (This opens the drop-down menu for the window.)
3. Type M (This selects the Move option on the drop-down menu.)
4. Use the left or right arrow key to move the window. (Once you've started this, you will find that you can use the mouse to position the window on the screen.)David

  • Hierarchy node Variable: F4 Help - Not showing Master data values

    Hi,
    We're having some problems trying to display the F4 help of a hierarchy node selection variable, to show the master data values so that it would look more complete for the users during report execution.
    In the RSD1 setting for the info object, under 'Business Explorer' tab, the 'Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn' is set to 'Only Posted Values for Navigation'.
    I thot that we could overwrite this setting at the Query Designer level, but it does not seem to work.
    Even tho in the Query Designer, we have already specified the 'Filter Value Selection During Query Execution' to 'Values in Master Data Table', it does not seem to display the master data values.
    There is no difference in the F4 values being displayed for the hier node variable, before and after the change in Query Designer.
    Could anyone share some tips on other possible solutions to get a hier node selection variable's F4 help to show the master data values, without changing the RSD1 setting at the info object level please ?

    Could you please share the steps you have taken to fix the problem?
    We do have a similar problem and for some reason the newly added hierarchy node for 0Profit_ctr is not showing up in the variable selection screen F4 (input selection for query execution). However we can see this node when we display that hierarchy in RSA1. I did try applying the changes recommened by Jerome but unfortunately it didn't work.
    Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    If you want to Show the Search help for Particular Field in Screen painter , You must give the Code In PROCESS ON VALUE REQUEST(POV).
    ie.
    process on value-request.
      field P9611-REQ_STATUS  module GET_REQ_STATUS.
    and in Program Give the internal table Fieldname in Capital Letter while Passing in Fuctional Module.

  • Variables/Input Parameters Value help not showing texts

    Hello,
    I have created a crystal report based on a calculation view in Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.1 SP5, which has a input parameter on the field "Region". For the value help, I am using a custom view based on T005U in which I have made sure that RegionName field is present in the "Label Column" property of the Region field.(Required for viewing descriptions of LOVs).
    In the crystal report, while previewing data in the query builder, I am able to see the value help for the input parameter in the prompt screen, which displays only the key part, but does not display the description of it. Moreover, after accepting the prompt value, the preview runs into an error(as shown below). Please note that I get the error below only when Region is a part of the output fields of the query.
    Instead of input parameter, when I create a variable on the region field in the main calculation view, with the same value help view, I am able to do data preview in the query builder as also data appears in the report on running the query. But, just as in the case of input parameter value help in the prompt screen, even over here, I am only able to see the key part and not the description.
    Are variables/input parameter LOV's supposed to display descriptions or just the key part? As also, any reason why I should be getting this error while using Input parameter?
    Kindly let me know if I am missing something in the development of this report.

    Hi,
              I hope you are taking the BEx Query as a source to the crystal report. In the BEx query check region info object  should is maintained as  Text and Key. If text is not maintained over there you will not be getting text in Crystal reports.

    What is the best practice for doing ESS/MSS upgrade.
    Since everytime we upgrade the BP we need to redo all the customizations again in the new track and deploy.
    I have gone through Note 872892 and read the NWDI cookbook.
    I feel there should be some tool (which will tell the differences in Code from one track to other if so how to install and where to install?) or a better way to apply the customizations to the new track when we upgrade the ESS/MSS components.

  • Input help not showing up for columns in CATS regular application

    I am using standard iView Time Entry in ESS available in EP7 ECC6.0.
    the issue I am having is that there is no popup (input help)  for columns 'Reason Code',  'Region' and 'OT Rsn'. But if I go into ECC6.0 t-code CAT2, the popups are available.
    Any idea what may be causing this issue?

  • F4 help not showing for currency translation types

    Friends,
    I have a scenario where I need to convert currencies in my query based of different tranlastion types. I maintained a variable in RRC1 and it's working fine when I execute the query. It asks for the variable - shows different available options under F4 help and calculates the results as expected.
    Now the problem I am facing ....
    When I have exceuted the query and want to select a different translation type using context menu on any amount field, it gives me only one option "Average rate for the current date". I am expecting all the available translation types to choose from, here as well.
    Can someone help me with that?

  • Different application, Same F4 - Searhc help not showing

    Hi Everyone
    I am using F4 Application for Product Search CRMM_PRD_SALES_F4
    When i open this application directly i can see F4 help for category field
    However when i open F4 help in product of sales order, i cannot see F4 help in categry.
    I have checked the view and F4 help mentioned in the field group, everything is correct.
    Is there some restriction as to number of views we can open inside a view
    Could somebody tell me as to what the problem could be.

    There is a limitation in that. You cannot see F4 in the application ( here -CRMM_PRD_SALES_F4) opened as a F4 for another application(Products)

  • [CS3 - Win] Smart Guides not showing up when Snap To Grid enabled

    Has anyone else encountered this bug?

    Smart Guides are turned on, but hovering over items does not show the cyan hints, snapping to anchor points / paths etc does not work. This only occurs when Snap To Grid is enabled. If you then go and turn it off, the Smart Guides start working again as expected.
    Is this a known bug?

    Thanks for the reply Mike. Smart Guides work perfectly for me provided Snap to Grid is turned off.
    I can see there being a conflict between snapping to grid and smart guides in CS3 - which takes precedence? From a UX perspective, if these two snapping modes are mutually exclusive, there should be at the very least an alert letting you know the other mode is disabled; the menu item should be greyed out. Or if it's truly an either-or situation, then the menu needs to be revised such that both snap to grid and smart guides are within the same submenu, and only one can be selected at a time, toggle with CMD+SHIFT+OPT+U.

    our company develop a program that communicate with Oracle Database though Oracle Client.
    to use the program the user needs to install oracle client in as a runtime.
    now some of our clients has some problem with the Norwegian chars! it shows as a question mark (?)
    all the Norwegian chars (ø,æ and å) in the program that comes from the database replaces by (?)
    I did many research but yet no luck! and ideas (I would love to welcome few so I can test them all)

    What is the NLS setting at the client side?

    My Problem: Winning contract is not auto assign to Shopping cart
    I created a Quota Arrangement (QA). It contains 2
    contracts, for example in line item 1, contain Contract with Supplier
    'A', with target percentage of 60%. In line item 2, contain Contract with
    Supplier 'B', with target percentage of 40%. I did not specify any quotabase quantity.
    For your info, the contract for Supplier 'A" is a Purchasing Contract,
    with target value of 80 (currency Malaysian Ringgit). Contract for
    Supplier 'B' has target value of 20 (currency Malaysian Ringgit). When Icreate a Shopping Cart, with quantity 5 (each-EA) and price per unit is
    2
    (Malaysian Ringgit), total is MYR10. When I go to Source of Supply tab,
    the system showed 2 suppliers from the 2 contracts. It did not
    automatically assigned to the winning contract. We still have to choose
    which contract to be assigned. I created another SC after that until theContract exceeded quantity, but the system does not proposed winning
    contract automatically. Please help.

  • T440s - Win 8.1 - not recognizing external drive

    Hello!
    I have this odd problem...
    I recently bought Samsung's M3 Portable External Drive (1TB) and it worked fine up until I formatted the drive and unplugged it from my laptop. Now when I plug it back, the drive will not show up anywhere - tried DISKPART, Disk Management and some Samsung's disk management software, but it's not there.
    I tried plugging it to other computers (Win 7 and Win 8.1) and it's working fine. Tried formatting it to exFAT, created 30GB partition and formatted it to FAT32 and currently it's formatted to NTFS - still not showing up in my T440s.
    I have the latest windows updates installed, I uninstalled USB controllers. Nothing seems to help.

    Update: I tried creating a new user to see if it's Windows profile related issue, but it's not - the drive did not show up there either. What I did find out is that when I booted the Windows to advanced startup mode and used the Command Prompt there, then the Drive is shown in Diskpart. I formatted it from there and assigned new letter for the volume as well, but once I boot the Windows, the drive is still not showing up. So it is definitely Windows related issues not something specific to T440s.
    Perhaps there's someone who could help, or has some suggestions?
