  • Built-in Input: Stereo plug-in needed?

    Hi
I'm trying to use Audacity to convert cassettes to digital. I've hooked up a mono-to-mono line from my old monaural cassette's headphone jack player to my MB Pro's Built-In Input. However, I'm not getting any sound.
Do I need a stereo adaptor to plug-in to the MB Pro?
Btw, I believe the setup is otherwise correct since when switching to buiilt-in microphone I pick the tv, etc.

Apple tends to use special jacks and expects at least stereo plugs. You can probably wire left and right together, but the plug length is likley to be important. Too short and it is "not there".

  • Optical audio input to 3.5mm stereo output???

I was wondering if macbook pros can take a digital audio source (i.e. PS3) as an input and output to 3.5mm stereo to a set of analogue speakers, simultaneously.

Use LineIn from RogueAmoeba http://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/ to get audio-thru.

  • Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset - USB or 3.5mm stereo miniplugs

    Hello!
I'm from Germany and my english is very bad, sorry.
My Question: I will buy a new headset and I found the Creative Fatal1ty.
But I can buy but it with USB or 3.5mm stereo miniplugs.
Which is better? In my PC is a Crative X-Fi Xtreme Music, so I think the variant which 3.5mm stereo miniplugs is better, right?
    Yours sincerely

yeah i'm having EXACTLY the same problem... =/

  • 8 pin dock cable to usb 3.5mm stereo

So i was wondering if a cable like this exist. I know for the 30 pin they do have it but i cannot find one for a 8 pin. I want it to be like you are connecting your phone to a dock but without a dock. Something i'm talking about is like this but for an iphone 5.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightning_(connector)
the pinout suggest that unlike the pin30 the lightning connector don't carry analogue audio
so for it to have a 3.5mm mini active electronics would be required and likely an ac power source to power that DAC and protocol interpreter

  • CABLE CONNECTION FROM 6131 TO 3.5MM JACK PLUG INPU...

I have recently acquired a 6131, for which I have ordered a 2GB microSD card and USB cable in order to transfer music files into the phone.
I am unable to find a Nokia cable, which will output these music files from the phone via 1 3.5 mm jack plug into the female jack plug socket AUX input of my car stereo. There appears to be a Nokia cable, which terminates in a female jack plug socket but not one with a male jack plug on the end.
Is anyone able to point me in the right direction.
    Thanks

please don't throw away your pc over an auxillary socket, lol.if the PC techs say that it's a hardware problem, it probably is just that, especially if the jacks work on everything else. it sucks, i know (i had the same problem on my old HP notebook and had to live with it until i bought my desktop) but the only way to fix it would be to replace it. it's probably damaged somehow, even if just a little. those things are pretty fragile in my experience. alternatively, you can get a usb headet. there are some really good microsoft ones that get sold for ~$30 at staples, and it comes with a good mic, so 2 birds with one stone if you'll use it at all!( it's also really good for gaming if you're into that. )

  • 2mm 2.5mm converter plug

i have just purchased a bluetube headset to reduce radiation but it is 2.5mm and does not fit my phone which is 2mm. does nokia sell a converter plug to these sizes, in australia? if so, where can i purchase one?

I have the same problem - albeit with different headphones. I've found that generic converters I have purchased do not fit properly into the phone. I assume that unless there is a problem with the phone jack I also need a Nokia converter plug. So my question is the same - are there such products available to purchase in Australia?

  • Magsafe plug pins stuck

The magsafe plug has 4 pins which seem to be on springs. The two middle pins are now stuck in and will not pop up again. Hence the macbook pro cannot be charged.
has anyone else come across this fault?

Other people have reported the problem. Are you interested in fixing the problem, or just taking a poll?

  • Connect 3.5mm stereo audio devices to USB P

    Hi (sorry for my english)
I see some webs with the front panel connector for audigy an X-fi:
Connecting the SoundBlaster Audigy2 ZS to the Front Panel (and X-Fi)
    http://audigy2zshowto.blogspot.com/
    Sound Blaster Audigy/X-Fi Harness 2.0

Plug your X-Fi into the front-panel connectors on your case:

But i think this is better, connect headphones with this adapter, "http://www.vpi.us/usb-audio.html"
I can do this? work fine?
    Saludos

If you use the USB dongle you'll bypass the soundcard and all its fancy effects. Regarding the second link, they are ripping off people, $30 for a simple adapter is way too much you can buy an Audigy 2 Platinum in Ebay for the same amount.

  • Does the 3.5mm Headphone Plug accept input as well as output?

    My Computer is:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)

I've got mixed answers from Apple Support and their engineers.  The engineers might not understand the question, but it is simple.
Again, Apple only provides the most minimum of details possible, so there are no technical specs to fall back on.
By referring to it as a Headphone jack we can infer you can plug in a headset and listen to iTunes.  Researching further I find you can plug in a 3.5 mm Headphone, provided you get a connection that follows the four connector Apple standard.
Since a headphone has a microphone I would assume that means the headphone jack can support input.  For example, spoken words.  Will the headphone jack support a 3.5 mm Apple specific wire connected to the MacBook and the other end to another device like an MP3 player, but using the proper four wire configuration for the MP3 Player?
If so, what application is available on the MacBook Pro to get the analog data and then manipulate it into something digital?

Use a USB audio device, the Mac only has a headset/mic combo input, the quality is OK for that but not much else.

  • Can anyone tell me if  AirPort will work with an RCA STA-3850 Stereo Receiver?  If so what would I need to set up to use with my Imac.

I have IMacPurchased in 2008 and want to get a AirPort that will connect to my speakers (UTAH's from 1975 in still very good condition).  My stereo receiver is  ~ 10 yrs old:  RCA STA 3850 and still works like a charm.  I really am NOT technically inclined and tend to stumble into solutions through 'dumb luck'.  If anyone has a suggestion I would appreciate it.
    Thank you.

The AirPort Express has a compatible analog audio output, you just need to connect it to an available input on your stereo. You may use the "AUX" or "CD" input, it's up to you. The RCA STA 3850 has no digital input.
Buy a cable that looks like this one:
    6ft 3.5mm Stereo Plug/2 RCA Plug Cable - Black
Its length and the type of plating used for the connections are up to you as well.

  • Microphone compatability

My electret microphone has a 3.5mm stereo plug and it works perfectly on a Dell laptop but not with the Audigy4 PCI card. I understand there is a connectivity issue and would like to know how others have dealt with it.

Re: Microphone compatabilityR I do not know if you have read the manual included with your card or not. I looked at the one online here:
    <a rel="nofollow" href="http://support.creative.com/manuals/download.aspx?nDownloadId=8363&prodName=Sound%20Bl aster%20Audigy%204%20UserGuide%20English"]http://support.creative.com/manuals/download.aspx?nDownloadId=8363&prodName=Sound%20Bl aster%20Audigy%204%20UserGuide%20English[/url]
Have you connected the power connector to your card? I realize that is a specialized microphone and I do not know if the Audigy supplies enough power without the 4 pin power attached. Also, I realize your card has the "BREAKOUT BOX" style of i/o bay, but on the Audigy's with the internal bay, there is a jumper you can remove when using a different style of microphone.....
You may have the more-advanced breakout box, but on the I/O internal bays some people have to remove or replace the microphone jumper to use a different style of microphone.

  • Mini DVI-to-Video Cable

    Hi,
I've been looking to get a cable to connect my macbook to a normal widescreen CRT TV. I found the Apple Mini DVI to Video cable on the website, but it doesn't list the Macbook as one of the compatible systems.
Can someone let me know - preferably with a link - which cable I should go for

This should be what you are looking for on the UK site.
    http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wa/RSLID?find=mini-DVIvideo&btn.x=0&btn.y=0
Don't forget to get a 3.5mm stereo male to rca male cable for your audio. If you have a different audio input on your TV get appropriate one. The MacBook has a 3.5mm stereo plug on it for audio out.

  • Mini-DVI to HDMI Problem

Hi, I bought a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter like this one: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/mini-dvi-to-hdmi.html to be able to hook up my macbook (2007 white version) to my HDTV. However, since HDMI is traditionally for both video AND audio, the HDMI channel on the TV can only output audio coming in through the HDMI cable. There is no sound, because I am only feeding video through that channel.
To solve the issue, I purchased the following 6ft 3.5mm Stereo Plug/2 RCA Plug Cable: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804 &p_id=665&seq=1&format=1#largeimage. The problem is, that I am only able to play sound from my laptop on my HDTV on one channel, and video from the Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter on another, but not both audio and video at the same time. What is the SIMPLEST way to fix this? I wouldn't want to purchase any additional cables if possible
Many thanks for your help in advance!!!

Thanks for that. I have a Y adapter (3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound just like you said). Under input options on my TV, I can select either HDMI1 input (which gives me video only) or AV1/S input (which gives me audio only) - not both at once...Could you explain how I can get stereo audio on my TV?

  • MacBook to TV via mini-DVI to HDMI?

I bought these items to connect my macbook to my Sharp Aquos 52" LC52D85U 120Hz 1080p LCD HDTV:
    644 3.5mm Stereo Plug/Plug M/M Cable - 6ft,
    4029 High Speed HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Cable 28AWG - 10ft w/Ferrite Cores (Gold Plated Connectors) - WHITE
    4852 Mini-DVI to HDMI Adapter
I have it plugged into input 6, but it doesn't appear to be working. Do I need to adjust the settings? have some type of software? what am I missing here?
    thanks!
update: my background screen from the computer is now on the TV, but not the movie that I am playing.

I just hooked my macbook up to my sony xbr6 tv via mini-dv to hdmi. I had to go into system preferences, then displays. A sony display window appeared, then I went to arrangements, and clicked on mirror displays, and it appeared....I'm still trying to figure out how to get the sound through my tv...I thought I might get sound thru the hdmi cable, but I think I might have to use an rca cable...
