3 audio tracks (centre, right,çeft) : How to make stereo pairs?

Hi,
Working with one video track and three audio tracks (recorded as Centre, Left and Right) for each clip.
Having problems when I do overlaps or fades manually. I need to treat each track separately as not possible to make them a stereo pair.
Should I duplicate the Centre track and make it a stereo pair and make another stereo pair with Left/Right.
What should be the easiest way/workaround to treat/link the audio tracks so that sound transitions like manual overlaps/fades can be done?
Thanx

Hi-
Do your manual fade on one track of the three. Select the track with the manual fade and type command+C to copy it. Select the other two tracks and type Option+V. A window will open that will let you choose to paste only your level settings, pan, or content or any combination of those.
If you have elaborate manual mixing you might want to razor blade just the section of the the three audio clips you want to apply the sound transition to - so as not to disturb other parts of the mix.
Hope this helps.

  • Push two audio tracks to Right and Left channels...How?

I have two stereo tracks. One is interview sound and the other is a bed of music. My client has asked that I write to tape with the interview pushed to the left channel and the music to the right. How do I best do that?
    Thanks.

just to clarify Kip's option #2
open the Sequence Settings (Cmd-0) for your edit, and select the Audio Outputs tab ... there you should change the grouping from "Stereo" to "Dual Mono", then click OK
if you're only working with 2 channels, and are simply switching from stereo to dula mono then that should do it...
...but if you want to check (or swap output channels or other fancy footwork) then in the timeline, control-click the Auto Selects button on track A1 and in the popup menu look at the Audio Outputs submenu ... thats where you can select to which channel you want to send the audio track

  • Unwanted raw audio track in MP4 export - how to avoid?

    Dear everyone,
I recently had some trouble with audio in an iMovie project and exported it to GarageBand, where I did all the audio post production (= three additional audio tracks with voice over, music etc).
Everything went fine, and I exported the GarageBand project using "Share" "Export Movie to Disc" using the "Full Quality" settings to retain the original movie quality.
    Now here's the odd thing:
The resulting MP4 file has two soundtracks. Soundtrack 1 is the original, uncompressed sound from the movie's DV clips, soundtrack 2 is the mixdown audio track from GarageBand.
I have tried several playback devices (e.g. a Samsung TV), and it will default to the original track, which I do not want.
    Long story short:
How do I get rid of the unwanted original audio track in the MP4 file exported from GarageBand? Can I get rid of it right in GarageBand, or would I need QuickTime Pro or another tool to do it later?
(Again, to clarify: The exported MP4 has two separate audio tracks (shown e.g. as "English 1", "English 2" on a USC-capable TV set. I need to get rif od the raw audio track 1.)
    Thanks.

Even the most verbose description has room for misunderstandings.
    So, to clarify:
I do actually use the original audio in the GarageBand project. In some clips, it is muted, in some, I add fades.
This is all fine and dandy and part of the mixed, mastered audio - which is exactly as I want it when exporting said MP4/MOV file for example to iDVD. The DVD has the proper soundtrack, and only that.
The problem is that in addition to this correct, GB-mastered audio, I get the totally raw audio as a separate audio track, which is per default played by a Samsung TV's internal MP4 playback engine or a WD TV.
(And I mean "audio track" in the context of the MP4 file, not as in "a GarageBand audio track".)
I hope that clarifies the issue.
    Thanks

  • How do make stereo bluetooth headset works with iMac desktop?

My bluetooth stereo headset works perfect with my iPhone4 and my iPad, but can't be discovered by my iMac.  What gives?  What do I have to do to make it work?

Do you have the headset in discovery mode?
You might want to google your headset model and maybe OS X pair. Find out of others have had problems.

  • How to make stereo sound play also from rear speakers on X-

X-Fi is excellent card. Just one question though (CMSS 3D disabled, 5. speakers set correctly): when I play stereo file (like MP3) the sound comes only from front speakers. Well it's logical of course but my old Audigy duplicated the sound also to rear speakers (the center speaker wasn't used) - so is it posible also on X-Fi to play stereo music from rear speakers too without enabling CMSS?

Actually I just found out that this CMSS3D is VERY good way to expand stereo to 5. (although it's not what I originally meant) - so no need to reply me but I'll welcome any opinions anyway.

  • Deleting or Editing Separate Audio Tracks

Al answered my previous questions about capturing video.
Perhaps others can help me with this.
When I import a video clip I also get two tracks of audio. Fine, but I can't figure out how to delete one of them or to adjust the volume on just one track.
Whatever I do affects both tracks. I've changed all the audio controls to left of the audio timeline, but nothing seems to help.
    Thanks.

Select the audio tracks in the timeline and then Modify/Stereo Pair (opt-L): this will separate the two tracks.

  • How can I use ALL audio tracks in multiclip editing?

I want to be able to use all audio tracks after the multiclip cut.
It's only a two camera shoot, but I want to be able to use the ambient room sound from the second camera ... and control its level (in relation to the master audio track on the first camera) AFTER the cuts are made.
Is this possible in multiclip editing? And how does one go about it?
Apologies. I've spent an hour or so in the manual, and it isn't clear ... or I'm just not finding the right reference.
    All ears,
    Ben

Sorry if I'm steering you down a path you don't want to go or even if there's a better way but I wouldn't be ding complex audio mixing anywhere near the multiclip interface. Export your reference movie or nest the multiclip project into another sequence, bring in your additional tracks, get to work. Just my preferences, I put a bunch of rough keyframes in the audio tracks and enter some markers (and make a lot of paper notes). Then I go back using the large mixer window to do the fine tweaking.
Stick around for a couple of days, some other multiclip users with more experience than I will offer some more useful suggestions.

  • Only 1 audio track

This just started happening and I'm not sure why...
I open a clip in the viewer window, it has 2 audio tracks. When I drag the clip to the timeline, it only brings 1 audio track. Any ideas how to fix this?
Also, is there a way to bring just the video track from a clip into the timeline?

Yep, you can bring only video or audio on the timeline.
on the left hand side of the timeline open the gap between a1(source) and A1(destination), a2 and A2 etc by clicking on a1 , a2 etc.
That should answer your first question too.

  • Multi track project  shows audio track 1 & not 2  need help!!!!

hello everyone... Have a sequence in fcp 1 video track 2 audio tracks i right mouse click the sequence go to send to click on multi track project it sends to soundtrack pro but only track 1

This would frustrate me in the beginning and sometimes it will come back to me. I'll blame that on the Pro tools I have installed. Make sure that device is enabled in controll panel, hardware. Disable the ones you don't use. I don't think AA will recognize usb or firewire hardware if that is what you have. Needs to be a card. I use the M-Audio Delta L1010. 8 inputs. I use 8 direct outs from my mixing board into the 8 inputs on the card. Sounds very good for the price.
    Good luck.

  • Detaching separate video and audio tracks

If I import a video file without audio, and then a music file, why does FCPx snap them together in a way that, if I want to move the first 20 seconds of the clip further away, when I move it forward, it takes the audio track with it?, how can I detach it?

As you can see in the image attached, theese green lines seem to keep united both tracks (or track sectors)

  • Blank audio between audio tracks

I am making a movie to include audio. I've imported audio without problem but want to keep a few sections of the video without any audio at all. I have not been able to do this.
Is it possible to fill in sections with nothing, i.e. placeholders, between audio on the audio track and if so, how?
    Thanks,
    Ken

I'm having a major problem with the narration and soundtrack files. I'm a computer teacher using Adobe Premiere 4. My students created a slideshow in Photoshop Elements 6.0 and imported it into Premiere. They also imported narration wav files that are part of the project (It's a digital story). While in timeline view, we drag the narration files onto the narration line to coincide with the video images. At random times, and for no particular reason, the program creates gaps between the images. When we try to drag the images back into place, more gaps appear.
We've tried many different ways of doing this, but these gaps just continue to appear. The program also creates gaps when we use the time stretch tool to change the amount of time each slide remains in view. In order to properly create a digital story, the timing of each slide is important.
Also, when we add a song to the soundtrack, this problem occurs as well, but only when there is a file in the narration track.
    Can anyone help with this?
    Thanks,
    Pam

  • Stereo vs. Mono Audio Tracks - Why?

I tink one of the most annyoying features of Premiere is the way it handles audio tracks.  I'm curious if this is just me or if anyone else out there is bothered by the same thing.
I work on a kids' show that has lots of music, sound effects and often 4 different mics for the actors at the same time.  Since I record 2 mics on each cam (R and L), I like to import everything as mono clips so it breaks up my audio and I can label who's on what layer/track.
Sometimes I end up with 20 different audio tracks.  Not because I NEED 20 layers, but because some of my SFX and music come in as stereo and others as mono and I can't put a mono-clip on a stereo clip or vice versa.  This is the part that drives me crazy.  I might need to add a 1-second swoosh SFX for some text coming in and I've got to go to layer 12 (scrolling way down), when just below the video there are 11 empty layers "available" but can't be used because they won't accept placement of that track because it's in stereo when the clip is mono.  Make sense?  So, really, instead of needing 20 tracks, I could EASILY get by with 10 IF Premiere had a way of not being so picky about whether a track is stero or mono and could just handle whatever you dish at it.

Maybe I have just used PrPro long enough, that I accept the Audio Tracks and channel-count. It makes perfect sense to me, but then maybe I am missing something important. If one does not have the necessary Audio Track, PrPro will create one for you.
This ARTICLE goes into much more detail.
Only thing that I would like changed, is the ability to drag Audio Tracks up/down, like on many DAW's. Otherwise, there is a little "dance," that needs to be done, to organize Audio Tracks.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Delete Source Audio Tracks?

Hey and thanks to all for stopping by!
Just a quick question - I haven't been able to find this in the discussions or with my own searching.
Basically, I am re-syncing footage and for some reason, the first assistant captured with 8 tracks of audio, all of which I don't need.
Is there a way to delete/remove/turn off audio tracks from a source clip?
    Thank you!
    Ben

open the clips in Quicktime, go to Window/Show Movie Properties and delete the audio tracks you don't want. Make sure you delete the correct ones. You may want to try just turning them off first to make sure you know which ones are the ones you want. Then, make sure you do a save as and give it a new name, or you will just get a reference movie with the tracks turned off. I don't think this recompresses the frames, but you may want to check on that one.

  • How to group Left and Right audio tracks from a .OMF file?

Hi, i'm editing the sound of my short film, i've sent a .OMF to audition from premiere, but the left and right tracks are seperate tracks in the multitrack session, how would i group them so whatever i do to one channel, will be done to the other

This is because the OMF specification requires mono audio files
It really depends on what you are trying to do with the two tracks as to the best answer as far as 'grouping'
You could select all the clips on both tracks and right mouse click and select 'group'
You could send both tracks to a bus
You could export the two tracks to a stereo file and bring that back into the session
Lots more things I'm sure but a little more detail as to what you are trying to do would help
