3 Beeps when plugged in

When I plug my sons 3G nano into the computer, i hear 3 rapid beeps and iTunes never sees the pod. My 30GB iPod and my wifes 2GB Nano connect and sync just fine.
Has anyone else seen this problem, or know what the solution is?
Thanks!

I wish it was the cable...
So I made a Genius bar appointment - same problem happened there.  It took them 6 times, but eventually they were able to restore my ipad and it was able to be plugged in to a computer and be recognized, charge, etc...
And then I took it home, plugged it in to my imac and it happened again.  Ugh.  The Genius employee said it did not look like the connection/pins was an issue at all.
One thing I mentioned during the appointment that I have not mentioned here is that I used to plug my ipad in to a pc since I first got it.  They didn't seem to think that should matter...
Anyway, thanks for your thoughts rbrylawski !  Any more?

With "Do Not Disturb" active, why does the iPhone beep when plug in for recharge?
I usually go to bed after my wife. I have the Do Not Disturb set for 11 pm to 7 am, and I can see the moon symbol.
So why when I go to bed at midnight and plug in my iPhone to recharge do I get a LOUD BEEP?
My wife is banning my phone from being next to my bed and an alarm clock.
To me it seems that the "Do Not Disturb" should turn this beep into a vibrate.

    section2i:
If that is true, then you should file that as a bug using the link above:
If I am reading what you are saying correctly, you are saying that when vibrate is 'off', and you turn on the phone and plug it in that a vibration occurs, and that it is not respecting the vibrate 'off'.
That would be a slightly different issue from what I am asking about (Do Not Disturb), and would probably need a separate bug report.

As your iPhone is getting connected to iTunes take a backup of your iPhone in iTunes : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
And then Restore your iPhone to Factory settings and see if it works and if that doesn't fix the problem then there might be something wrong with the Hardware and you will have to take your iphone to Nearest Apple Genius Bar.

  • My iphone 5 screen lcd broke and beeps when plugged up

So a couple days ago i dropped my iphone it was really cracked and shattered but i could still see the screen , then i dropped it again and the screen went black just a dim light i could still hear the snapshot and lock/ unlock but i couldnt see the screen, so i turn it off . when i tryed to turn it back on it wouldnt come on .when i plug it up like every 10 seconds or so it beeps , but i still can plug it up to the computer and itunes and backup/ restore and see photos . whats wrong

One of the drops permanently damaged the internal hardware.
You'll have to get it replaced. Take it to an Apple store - make an appointment first - and expect to pay $269+ tax for an Out-of-Warranty replacement phone, unless you paid for AppleCare+ when you bought the phone.

  • Thunderbolt display long beep when plugged in to macbook

I have a MacBook Pro and connect it to a Thunderbolt display.  After downloading Yosemite, whenever I connect to my display it makes a long, continuous (about 1-2 minute) beeping noise.  The noise repeats every few minutes.  It is loud and high pitched.  I have connected to other Macs and the display does the same thing, so it is not coming from the computer.  Any ideas?

If you still need help, download the Thunderbolt Display manual here.
Give it a minute or two to download then use the Command + F keyboard shortcut then type:  troubleshooting

  • Beep when AC adapter plug is connected - can not find on ThinkPad w530

In the opposite to some other users (say in this topic here) I always liked this cool feature of ThinkPad to informed the user with a happy loud beep sound, whether the status of power has really changed after the AC adapter was connected to the laptop. It saves me plenty of times from problems with empty battery and loosing my data at my previous ThinkPads.
So when I've got my new ThinkPad w530 it was one of the first things I've tried to configure to enable these sound notifications. But I am not able to find, how to do it  The Manual of the Power Manager states very clearly when explaining  Power Management Options, the following:
    "Beep when power state changes
When this checkbox is selected, you hear beeps when the computer:
    Enters standby mode.
    Resumes operation from standby mode.
    Enters hibernation mode.
Resumes operation after being in hibernation mode.
Is connected to or disconnected from the AC adapter.".
It seems the thinh I was looked for, but the problem is, that there is no such option at Power Manager Options tab. I've reviewed all other tabs/windows of the app as well, but can not find anything about beep sound.
Have I missed anything? Where this option might actually locate?
    Thanks for any ideas!

    Unfortunately it's not an option offered on the *30 systems' BIOS, it was removed.  Please see the following thread;

  • 30 gig iPod not found in My Computer or iTunes when plugged in

I just got this iPod the other day for a birthday present from my father. I immediately put some music and video on it and all was fine. I've had it plugged in a few times and it worked perfectly fine again. Last night I tried to plug it in again to put stuff on it and all that happened was the beep you get to let you know that something has been put in the USB. It is not shown in My Computer or iTunes, and there is no USB error balloon popping up. My iPod screen still says do not disconnect when plugged in and it still plays normally when unplugged. I do not know what to do to remedy this problem and I have tried many things and looked up and down the support section of the site, but to no avail.

Have you tried assigning your iPod a different drive letter? See these instructions below:
Log off of any other users on your computer (and disconnect any iPods that are currently connected to your computer, as well)
Then, put your iPod into Disk Mode, then follow these steps:
1 - Don’t plug in your iPod yet.
2 - Go to "START -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools (if you don't see this, click on "classic view" button on the left panel) -> Computer Management."
3 - Click on the "Disk Management" button in the left panel area.
4 - Now, with "Computer Management" and Control Panel windows opened, reset your iPod, and connect it.
5 - Right-click on your iPod's listing there (after a few moments when it gets recognized in this drive window), and click on "Change Drive letter and Paths". Then the "Change..." button.
Assign your iPod the letter "M" "N", "O" or the like (further along in the alphabet).
For more details, see this article:
Windows confuses iPod drive letter / Changing drive letter
If your iPod isn't recognize to assign it a different letter, or the above steps still don't work, then try disconnecting all other USB devices from your computer (other than your mouse and keyboard), and see if you can re-assign your iPod's drive letter works.
    I hope that helps you.

  • Why does iPhone beep when charging

My iPhone continues to beep when charging....can anyone tell me how to stop the beeping

When you say "beep" you mean the sound it makes right after you plug it in? If so, you might have a faulty cable or USB port, so your iPhone will beep everytime it gets disconnected and reconnected to the computer. If it's not that, try to describe the sound. Is it similar to what other sounds on iPhone system?

Click here for information; if the computer beeps three or fewer times, remove and reinsert the computer's RAM. If it beeps four or more times, it needs to be repaired. If it's a G5, it will ignore RAM modules that aren't part of a matching pair.

  • IPod does not respond at all when plugged in

Alright, this topic is for people who have had this exact problem only. I don't want to get this confused with other problems and have people trying to help troubleshoot multiple problems and get things mixed up. Here's the problem.
After updating to v1.1.2 of the iPod software, the iPod does not respond when plugged in. The iPod still works fine when not plugged in. It plays music and both the standard and shuffle play modes work accordingly. The problem is when you plug the iPod in, it doesn't charge and it doesn't mount. The orange blinking light does not come on. While plugged in, it works the same way as it does when you're listening to music with it. It's as if the iPod's USB connector is dead. Here is my original post and description of the problem.
Alright, so here's my story. I bought my 512MB Shuffle in April. It has worked perfectly fine since I got it. Last night, I updated to v1.1.2 of the iPod software, clicked no when it asked if I wanted to restart, added some songs to the iPod, then restarted. As of this morning, I went to listen to some music while out for a bike ride, and I was greeted with the red battery light. I thought it was a bit odd since I had left it plugged in overnight. I figured, what the heck, I'll just plug it in and let it charge when I get back. When I got back, I plugged it into my PC and left for a while. I came back later and went to grab my Shuffle and I noticed it was cold, which was unusual after charging for a couple hours. I plugged it back in, a bit frustrated, and it never came up in Windows. I looked at the iPod plugged into the back of my PC (a high powered USB port) and sure enough, no orange light. No lights at all. I can still slide the switch to one of the play modes (standard play or shuffle) and play music for a couple seconds before it stops and says the battery's dead again. It works.. I mean it turns on and plays music, it's just not charging or mounting when I plug it in. I tried multiple computers and USB ports, none of which worked. I would really like some help with this considering it IS my only source of portable music and I'm not going to go pay $50 to talk to tech support or have it sent in for repairs. That's half of what it's worth.
I've tried uninstalling all iTunes/iPod related software from the PC I normally use it on and reinstalling it. That didn't work. I also tried uninstalling again and installing the last known working version of the iPod software, still no results. The only thing I havn't tried is giving it a good beating... Not that I would. Anyways, I hope there's a solution to this that doesn't involve buying a new one.
Here's a rundown of the computers I tested it with.
    500MHZ G4 Cube (384MB RAM/Mac OSX Tiger)
    400MHZ G3 iMac (384MB RAM/Mac OSX Tiger)
4.2GHZ AMD 64-Bit running Windows XP Service Pack 2 (my PC)
    515MHZ Dell running Windows 2000 (256MB RAM)
UPDATE: The BIOS won't recognize the iPod, so it has nothing to do with my computer. Somehow, installing v1.1.2 of the iPod software made it so the iPod itself has USB problems. The iPod works to the extent of playing music and showing the battery charge level. I get no response at all when I plug it in, from the computer or the iPod.
I'm going to have to agree with Philip Harhay on this one. The original 10GB iPod I bought 3 years ago came with a full one-year warranty, no extra charges. I am disappointed to see the Shuffle only coming with a three-month warranty.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------

Help! I just purchase an iPod Shuffle for my son's birthday and I cannot get the darn thing to show up on my iMac G5. I am running OS 10.4.2 and I have downloaded the latest iPod and iTunes software. When I try to restore my iPod to the factory settings it tells me to plug the iPod into the computer, but it is plugged in. I have tried different USB ports, too. I'm running out of ideas and so is the trouble shooting Apple site. I was hoping someone out there might have some ideas.
It showed up at first and I transferred a few songs from the iTunes to the iPod but I couldn't get them to play, so I plugged it back into the USB and the icon never came up.

There is a hardware problem.  Whether it's worth it to you to have no working phone for 2 months until you can update vs paying for replacement/repair now is a question only you can answer.

  • MacBook Pro Mid 2012 freezes when plugged in

Hi. My Mid 2012 MBP which runs on Yosemite 10.10.2 keeps freezing even when just browsing on Chrome so I uninstalled Chrome and used Safari. I was still having problems after switching browsers so I restored my device to its factory settings but the restore did not solve my problem. All this time my device was plugged in so I unplugged it and tried to browse. It did not freeze or crash. I read the forums and found out about the SMC reset and a NVRAM reset but my device is still freezing when plugged in. I am typing this while my MBP is unplugged. Please help.

    Reset the SMC again:

    Then try s safe boot:

Yeah, I'm having the same exact problem - It seems that the thunderbolt minidisplay port is only able to output the analog VGA signal, not the digital signal to support DVI and HDMI. This is a bug that came up after installing 10.7.1. I bought my macbook air with 10.7 on it, upgraded it to 10.7.1 as soon as I got it, so I have never been able to use hdmi or dvi with my macbook air. This is an extremely frustrating problem for me, I used HDMI on a daily basis with my PC. I have spent many hours at the genius bar running diagnostic tests so Apple can get as much information as possible to create a fix for this problem. I have been emailing tech support for 3 or so weeks now, they keep saying that they are working on a fix and it should be out soon, but 10.7.2 has come and gone and I still have no HDMI functionality with my MacBook Air!

Will not work.  To my knowledge, dual converting like that isn't supported.  The Mac must detect the connected video output device and that sort of info cannot be done across an analog component uni-directional connection.
