3 error messages in console slow down mavericks

mavericks is a lot slower than snow leopard, sometimes programs even stop working for approx. 30 seconds.
below the console messages
and below that the printout from etreCheck.
1) systemstatsd complains once per minute "assertion failed" - I don't have the faintest idea, which module failed
2) Excel2008 and office 2008 (database daemon) let me know, that something is deprecated and will be removed soon
Excel latest update was done 2 days ago . Can I stop these messages or remove the daemon?
Any help or idea is apppreciated very much
PS: is there a manual on how to interpret system messages? I could not find anything.
here the console messages

  • Artwork Not Loading - Error Message in Console

I am having trouble loading Album Artwork. I have tried fetching it via Advanced option in ITUNES both logged in and logged out of the STORE.
I noticed following error message in console:
    22/10/2009 20:44:20 [0x0-0x5a05a].com.apple.iTunes[697] Thu Oct 22 20:44:20 Tommy-Gargans-Computer.local iTunes[697] <Error>: doClip: empty path.
Presume this is significant but I am afraid I don't understand it. Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

I think I have read somewhere this is a "non issue" but I still get the error message in my console messages. Wish they'd fix that. It's hard enough to diagnose problems using console without having messages appear that don't mean anything.

  • IPhoto error message saying it shut down unexpectedly.

I shut down iPhoto and when I try to reopen iPhoto I get an error message saying it shut down unexpectedly and now it will not open at all.
What can I do to restore/reopen iPhoto?

Backup your iPhoto library, depress and hold the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and use the resulting first aid window to rebuild your database

  • Error message when trying to install Mavericks onto macbook pro.

Hi Been trying to install Mavericks onto my macbook pro (10.6.8) but the install fails after 3-5 minutes and I get this error message: *** WARNING: -[NSImage compositeToPoint:fromRect:operation:] is deprecated in MacOSX 10.8 and later. Please use -[NSImage drawAtPoint:fromRect:operation:fraction:] instead.
I have tried to repair the drive through the utility function but I am told it cannot be repaired. I tried the recovery function as well but whilst I am able to select the source (external hard drive with recent time machine backup) the next screen prompts me to select the disk to restore but all it does is search for a drive and there is none there to select.
Really not sure what else to do. Please help!

Well some progress has been made so thought i would post what I did, in case someone experiences the same issue I did and maybe this will be of use to someone else...
Ended up force-shutting my macbook down then switching back on, as soon as the chime could be heard i pressed command R and kept both keys pressed until Recovery mode kicked in.
Internet Recovery came on which took approx 20 minutes (more about this here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4718 )
    Then 4 options appeared
    1) recover with time machine back up
    2) set up and install Mac OSX (with the Lion icon and reference to Lion for some reason, I had Snow Leopard to begin with)
    3) get help online
    4) repair or erase disk using disk utility
I decided to attempt to repair the drive but use the verification tool first which said the drive was fine??????!!!
Then clicked on repair disk, this took only a few minutes then it stopped after a couple lines.
While it was "repairing" the button changed to "stop repair" then changed back to "repair" so I took that to mean it had done what had to be done.
Then closed the utility screen whch prompted me to restart macbook after selected a drive to boot up from (only one option came up for me)
Did that and I was back into familiar territory and on my mac as I knew it ie snow leopard.
I did restart macbook just to make sure and it just booted up as normal, to snow leopard with the maverick install icon still showing in the dock.
Panic over. Not sure if / when I will give installing Maverick another try though....

  • Error messages in Console Log of Apple System Profiler

Today, I manually executed some CRON scripts from the Terminal window as part of a regular maintenance cycle. Before doing so, I ran the Apple System Profiler (OS 10.2.8), clicked on the Logs tab, and checked the Console Log. It had three days of error messages and other info (more on this later), but my intent was just to check the last entries in the log before running the CRON scripts, so that I could detect any additional errors logged as a result of the CRON scripts.
Having checked the log, I quit the Profiler and all other applications. Then I opened the Terminal window and entered:
    sudo periodic monthly
I was prompted for my adminstrator password, and it then executed the script. It took just seconds to execute. Following this, I also executed
    sudo periodic weekly
    sudo periodic daily
The weekly CRON took about 2 minutes to finish, and the daily only a few seconds. I ran Apple System Profiler again and checked the console log and found this additional error message (not present prior to running the scripts):
    Feb 15 13:43:10 Drake-Bradleys-Computer sendmail[865]: NOQUEUE:
    SYSERR(root): /etc/mail/sendmail.cf: line 93: fileclass: cannot open '/
    etc/mail/local-host-names': Group writable directory
(I have inserted hard returns to break the single-line error message into three lines to avoid requiring readers to use the horizontal scroll bar.)
Can anyone tell me what this error means, and what, if anything, I should do about it?
Following all of this, I next repaired my permissions with Disk Utility (and yes, after dragging iTunes 6.0.2 to the desktop). I then ran the profiler, checked the log, and encountered these two additional error messages:
file not in an order that can be processed (local relocation entries out
    of place): ./Library/Frameworks/StuffIt.framework/Versions/A/StuffIt
file not in an order that can be processed (local relocation entries out
    of place): ./Library/Frameworks/StuffIt.framework/Versions/A/StuffIt
    (Again, hard returns are inserted.)
The errors are identical. They presumably were generated by my running disk permissions, as other applications were shut down. It appears the error refers to the Suffit application.
Any ideas what causes these errors?
Finally, a last question. (And thanks for being patient with such a long post.) The console log contains a large number of error messages for each day. This occurs even on days when I have had no apps hang, or any other system problems (power failures, etc.) that I was aware of. Many of the errors seem to involve windows manangement. The most common one is:
    Feb 14 17:11:18 Drake-Bradleys-Computer /System/Library/
    CoreServices/SystemUIServer.app/Contents/MacOS/SystemUIServer:
    kCGErrorIllegalArgument : CGSGetWindowGeometry: Invalid window
    But other examples are:
    Feb 14 17:42:21 Drake-Bradleys-Computer WindowServer[194]:
Cannot merge groups (yet) for wid 1877, otherwid 1881
    Feb 15 10:34:37 Drake-Bradleys-Computer WindowServer[194]:
Reserved range exhausted. (0xbbf45000 to 0xbc271000 goes out of
    bounds)
    Feb 15 10:35:03 Drake-Bradleys-Computer WindowServer[194]:
    CGXRemoveTrackingArea : Invalid tracking area
Is it fairly common for the console log to be filled with dozens of errors like this on a given day even though the iMac seems to be functioning normally?
    Thanks for any advice,
    Drake Bradley
P.S. I have a Casio digital camera and an HP printer hooked up to the iMac, and very recently, an Iomega HDD. (The latter was not connected for the tests reported above.)

    534/2980
    Hi Drake,
Yes, it is common, and I wouldn't worry about it.
These "errors" are not about anything wrong. My guess is that it's a developer jargon to indicate that something didn't happen, only because there is no possibility of it happening given your specific settings/system options.
See for example the statements "System woke from sleep" or "System going to sleep" in "error_log"...
We don't know to what extend these "errors" belong to so many unmodified files that used to do something in UNIX 15 years ago, but are now completely useless, harmless and so small they can't affect Mac OS X performance in any way?
    Enjoy your Mac!
    Axl

Welcome to the forums Oliver... good work at narrowing the problem down so far!
Try dragging this file to the Desktop and reboot...
    /Users/nnnn/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist
Might also pay to clean caches, I use Applejack, but there are many. The log makes me think cache especially.

  • Each second I get 2 error message in console

Every second I see twice an error message:
    "21-12-13 16:15:57,000 kernel[0]: SMC::smcReadKeyAction ERROR TC0D kSMCBadArgumentError(0x89) fKeyHashTable=0x0xffffff81bba49000"
    I have tried following:
    -  creating a new user ..... same error messages (in this case while nothing, except system, was running)
    -  reinstalled OSX using Cmd-R at start-up ...... same error mesages.
I do not know whther this rror message means something is not working right but it dos not seems 'normal' that the same error message pops up twice each second.
    What to do?

I'm not aware of problems with safe boot. Works fine here, at least. In this case consider using a utility such as Mavericks Cache Cleaner 8.0.3, Cache Out X 6.0, or OnyX 2.8.1 to clear out caches, log files, temp files, etc. in the event the problem is a corrupted file.
If you have no success then reinstall OS X:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is
                    three times faster than wireless.

  • Error Message appears when drilling down from a report.

    Hi,
I am using CR XI R2.
I have an rpt file that displays a chart from a sub report.
I tested it on the CR designer and report viewer - works ok.
When I display this report in my .Net application, I get an error message when drilling down from this chart : "The Report Application Server failed"
When looking at the log files I see this error message:
    4 19 13:11:14.770 5336 5564 (\servers\ras\dtsagent\reporthandler.cpp:11622): CReportHandler::buildReportViewerError: CSResultException thrown.   ErrorSrc:"CRPE" FileName:"\servers\ras\dtsagent\reporthandler.cpp" LineNum:11618 ErrorCode:997 ErrorMsg:"" DetailedErrorMsg:""
This is a Viewer error - but when drilling down from the Report Viewer I don't get this exception.
Does anyone know what this mean?

    Too strange and my require a phone support case;
    http://store.businessobjects.com/store/bobjamer/DisplayProductByTypePage&parentCategoryID=&categoryID=11522300
    Three ideas:
    1) Install CR designer on one of the boxes where this does not work and try to run the report there
    2) Add a line to your code and save out the report just after your database logon once ( .saveAs). try to run this report in the CR designer.
    3) Use the [modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] utility to compare the runtime - both CR and db client between computers that work and those that do not.

This usually means that you call the JSF page the wrong way. Try something like http://hostname:port/servletcontextroot/faces/page.jspx
    --olaf

  • Smart Mailboxes error message in Console-please decipher

I checked all the Smart Mailboxes referenced in the message, and all seem to be working fine. Can't figure out why the Console is filled with this error.

Did you ever find the answer to this?

  • Repeating error message in console

I keep getting this error message in my console. I have an error for every minute of the day my mac is on and it's this same one. Wondering now if this is what could have bee causing my mac to run slowly recently.
    FolderManager: Failed looking up user domain root; url='file://localhost/dev/null/' path=/dev/null/ err=-36 uid=504 euid=504
    Any help would be appreciated

mdworker is used to index files on the hard disk by Spotlight.
    http://developer.apple.com/mac/library/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/m an8/mdworker.8.html
Searching for the keywords *FolderManager mac* in a search engine does turn up an application named [Folder Manager X|http://software.techrepublic.com.com/abstract.aspx?docid=442085]. Perhaps you are on the right track then. Just find and delete this programme which is apparently used to run some folder actions. Perhaps spotlight will be able to find it. If not, then we can try something else.
    Cheers.

  • Error Message in console  re: com.apple.AddressBook.abd

I keep getting this error message:
1/6/10 4:19:41 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501[352] (com.apple.AddressBook.abd) The following job tried to hijack the service "com.apple.AddressBook.abd" from this job: [0x0-0x16a16a].com.apple.AddressBook.abd
Any ideas what may be causing it and how I stop it? I get it about every 10 mins.

I think I have read somewhere this is a "non issue" but I still get the error message in my console messages. Wish they'd fix that. It's hard enough to diagnose problems using console without having messages appear that don't mean anything.

  • Error Message: Disk too slow or System Overload

    hey guys
during playback i keep receiving an error message reading: Disk too slow or System Overload. I was wondering if anyone knew the cause of this?
    Thanks for any info

I am sorry to hear that you are having those problems. I found this thread in the discussion board about a user having the same issues with the "Disk too slow or System Overload" error message.
Read the thread and this may actually help you to understand what is going on:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1456048
Also, make sure you download this update that may removed several issues with your computer and any Final Cut Studio software.

    Hope this information helps,
