3-finger Swipe Bug where certain apps disable this feature

I seem to have this bug where whenever I use three fingers to go back in certain applications, in this case the new iTunes 11 store, it completely shuts down the feature until I go into systems settings, turn it off and on. It will work until I do it again.
Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?

You can check the value of the corresponding browser.gesture prefs on the about:config page to see if they have a value.

Since updating Firefox as suggested, when I 'save as' a jpeg, it automatically finds the folder and it's always the wrong folder. How can I disable this feature and go back to the original mode where it remains in the folder I choose until I change it?

For example, I saved a jpeg named 'picasso the guitarist'. I have folders titled A to Z. When I click 'save as' it might open the 'K' folder and I have to manually search the 'P' folder for 'Picasso' and save file. The most irritating thing is, when I 'save as' another jpeg of say 'pieter mother & child' it goes to another folder and does not remain in the 'P' folder, rather it goes to the 'X' folder or some other. This didn't happen before the last upgrade. Can I disable this new 'help' feature that is taking more time than the old version?

Current Firefox versions remember the download directory based upon the URL, so if the URL changes then the default folder may be chosen if there hasn't been selected a download folder before for that server.

How do I disable this feature? As you're opening a new tab or typing in the Awesome Bar, Firefox will check to see if you already have that site open. If you do, you'll be directed to the existing tab so you don't open a duplicate.

When I am in my classroom where I am teaching, I sometimes open a duplicate tab so I can go back and forth while I am grading. This gives me the assignment and grade book open at the same time. This is much faster than opening and closing the two screens as I have to do when I can't open a duplicate site.
If I cannot disable this feature, can I undo this upgrade and return to the previous version? Thanks for your help.

When you enter a site in the URL/Location/Address bar and see "Switch to tab" in the drop-down, you can
*use ALT+Enter to open the new (duplicate) tab anyway
*use CTRL+left-click on the original tab and drag it until you see an up arrow from below the break point between two tabs, then release the left-click key, then release the CTRL key to get a duplicate of the tab with all of its history (Back/Forward)
*press the Shift key while an entry in the drop down list is highlighted to disable "Switch to Tab" and see the URL.
*Use the cursor Right key to select an item marked as Switch to Tab in the drop down list and copy the URL to the location bar.
*Open the URL in the current tab by using Shift + Enter on the highlighted entry.

This happens when you both use the same Apple ID for iMessage. You can continue to share the same ID for pruchasing from the iTunes & App stores, but you should be using a different ID for iMessage. To fix this you have two choices:
On one of the phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID (so you are both using a different ID for iMessage); or
On both phones go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and uncheck the email address(es) shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at". Also uncheck anyone else's phone number, if present.

thanks. yes i am aware of the VoiceOver feature but it is NOT the solution to my problem. as you said, it is a solution to a different set of issues. i want the text to speech ability because i there are books i need to read but do not have the time to sit down and read them and have become used to listening to them read to me either by a professional human reader or with the text to speech software on the Kindle.
I think Apple makes the best audio devices but i am really disappointed in this inexplainable shortcoming. if apple can give us siri they ought to be able to design a nice little button that i can push to turn on text to speech while i am in a document, book, magazine or webpage. clearly it is possible as apple has added the "reader" button in safari to have web pages dropped into the reader format.

If you have set Google to be your homepage, that should be the first one to appear. Are you seeing the Firefox home page when you open new tabs? New tabs should be blank by default. The only reason I've seen Firefox open new tabs with Firefox data on it is after an upgrade of the product.

HT6065 Anyone have an idea of when a two-finger swipe bug fix is coming? I see no mention of the error in this update's summary. : /

Still having mucho trackpad/magic mouse issues with two finger swiping/scrolling. Best short-term fix I've found is tapping the power button and then waking my MBP back up again. It usually fixes the trackpad/magic mouse freeze on two-finger gestures temporarily. Anyone know if Apple's made any mention of a fix for this headed our way?

It's hard to tell if there's a rhyme or reason as to when or why it wigs out, but I've noticed that since my Mavericks install, sometimes two finger scrolling or swiping will suddenly be completely non-responsive, and it just won't work at all. I mostly use two finger gestures in Safari, so for me, it's been most noticable for scrolling vertically or flicking back or forward during web browsing.
It's not limited to Safari, the problem also affects Chrome and Firefox usability, as well.

It seems to impede trackpad & magic mouse use equally, and while it's not a constant issue, I'd say it'll lock up somewhere around every 12 hours, sometimes more often, sometimes less. Once it locks up, the only way to fix it is either a sloppy workaround like the one I mentioned in my above comment, or a reboot of the MBP.
From the reading around I've done on the problem, it seems that for some people it causes the total freeze, like me, some people have just noticed erractic, delayed, or temporarily non-responsive use of varying severity, but just based on the number of people mentioning it, it certainly appears connected to the Mavericks update.

When I tap a cell to highlight it, a box pops up with all the words typed in the adjacent cells so I can populate the cell with one of them, but I neither need nor want the suggestions.

I don't know where to find the setting in Numbers for iOS, but in Numbers for Mac OS X it is under Menu > Numbers > Preferences > General > Editing.
Show suggestions when editing table cells.
As you can see, I don't use it.

In Mountain Lion a BDMV folder is always displayed a package, how to disable this "feature"

For some video editing tools you need to have acess to the folderstructure during file->open.
any idea how to do this ?

This little trick does not involve renaming anything and should work in general for any files buried within packages that are dragged onto an Open File dialog. It might not work if the video editor has an unconventional GUI that doesn't use a standard Finder window for its Open/Import/Save operations.
woodmeister50 was on the right track. In the video editor, choose File: Open or Import such that a dialog window opens. Then, in a separate Finder window, right-click on the BDMV and Show Package Contents. Navigate to the stream that you want to import. Drag and drop the M2TS from Finder onto the video editor's file browser window. The file won't be moved. Instead the open/import dialog will navigate to the directory containing the M2TS file.
Another way is to do this is to enter CMD + SHIFT + G while an Open File dialog has focus. You can manually paste in the path to the package's contents.
I don't know how to make Finder interpret certain package types as a standard folder structure. There's probably a way.
