3 finger swipe issue

Hi so my 3 finger swipe from full screen to full screen is enabled. But for some reason when i swipe left (moving screens to the right) it always flips back to the original screen and when I do it again it sticks. But i always need to do it twice in order to stay on that screen. This always happens on my first try..consistently. Its quite annoying. Any ideas?
Running mavericks

Did you check System Preferences - Trackpad ? Also I'm not sure exactly what 3 fingered swipe are you referring to?

  • Safari 2 finger swipe issue in youtube

I recently updated my Safari to 7.0.3. If I start a youtube video and use the 'Two Finger Gesture' to go to the previous page, say youtube home page, the page is turning to the home page. But the video I started do not stop and is still playing in background. I could hear the voice of the video through speakers. I have to reload the youtube home page to stop the video from playing.
I am sure this issue is occuring only after the last 7.0.3 update which came in yesterday.
Does anyone else facing same issue and if so, what is the solution?
I tried updating my flash player but still doesn't work.

  • Two-finger swipe

Two finger swipe on trackpad with control key works fine for zooming screen, but it does not remain in force -- something turns it off, & I have to log out and back in to get it to work again. 10.7, 2.8GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM.

    HI,
Go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.driver.AppleHIDMouse.plist to the Trash.
    Restart your iMac.
The update may have corrupted the Mouse preferences is all.
If that didn't help, you can re "pair" the mosue with your iMac.
    Open System Preferences/Bluetooth
Make sure the mouse is turned on. Select your mouse on the left then click the - button.
Then click the + which will prompt the Bluetooth Setup Assistant and you can re "pair" the mouse.
Hopefully that will help the "two finger swipe" issue.

  • Having issues with two-finger swipe and hot corners. Help!

I've lately been having an issue, where my two finger swipe will stop working. I also notice that 3 of my 4 hot corners no longer work, either. The only one that works is the top left. When I restart my computer, or change users, etc, it's fixed for a while, but then the problem will start up again in about an hour.
I've tried the Software Update, and it seems everything is up to date. Any solutions?? I spent a good deal of money on this iMac, and I'm concerned there's something wrong with it.
I have a 27" iMac, which I bought around November 2011. Software is OSX 10.7.5
    Thanks!

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Using multiple desktops with a 4 finger swipe on a Mac Book Pro running Lion- is there a way that I can allow Safari open on several but not all??  Looks like I can set it for one but not others.  All, one, or nothing

Using multiple desktops with a 4 finger swipe on a Mac Book Pro running Lion- is there a way that I can allow Safari open on several but not all??  Looks like I can set it for one but not others.  All, one, or nothing

    Hey Eric,
Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.
Again, thanks for trying, it is appreciated.

  • Four-finger swipe constantly stops working

I'm running Snow Leopard on my 27" iMac with a Magic Trackpad, and the four-finger swipe Expose gesture regularly stops working, which two and three-finger gestures continue to work fine.
Sometimes a reboot will fix the problem, other times I can reboot two or three times before four-finger swipe works again.  I've used the trackpad since it was released with no issues until a month or two ago when the problem started.
I've installed the latest combo update, repaired disk permissions many times over, reset PRAM and SMC, deleted a plist file pertaining to Expose which someone on the forum recommended.  Nothing has helped as of yet.
When 10.7 Lion is released I'll do a full and fresh install which should finally take care of things, but until then I'd love to get this working without having to reinstall 10.6.
    Thanks for any help.

  • 3 and 4 finger swipes no longer working along with pinch and rotate gesture

Hi, thanks in advance for your help.
I have the new aluminum unibody macbook pro. It has had absolutely no problems until now the 3 and 4 finger swipe gestures no longer work on the trackpad, as well as pinching to resize photos in Preview or the two finger rotate gesture.
I have tried unchecking all of the trackpad gestures that were not working then restarting and rechecking them, as well as unchecking all of them, restarting, and rechecking all.
The only gestures working right now are the two finger scroll and two finger double click tap.
These problems are in all of my applications, including Safari, Preview, and Finder as well as Firefox and Chrome. They just don't work anymore, system-wide.
Any guidance on what to do would be most appreciated. I really miss using the gestures to go backward and forward on webpages.

    Hi demondragon6,
have a look at http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10423187-263.html for a useful "trackpad issue how-to".
Several people with this problem appear to have resolved your particular issue by removing the .GlobalPreferences.USER-UUID.plist file - see the link for instructions.
It is certainly worth trying a PRAM and SMC reset, as Roger suggests, first though.
    Cheers

  • Can not do "two finger swipe to go back" in "look up" gesture.

In Mountain Lion the "two finger swipe right to go back" navigates just fine in the "look up" function in a three finger tap gesture.
But in Mavericks the two finger swipe right cannot go back.
    This makes a low efficiency.
Do someone get the same issue or just me? Can this be fixed?
    Thanks.

I just found out that the two finger swipe right don't do any thing on the right side of this red line in the pop up window, but on the left side of this red line, it works.
    Still,
    Low efficiency.

  • 3 finger swipe not working

i don't know when it stopped, i have installed snow leopard, can't be sure it was since then, but my 3 finger swipe has stopped working in any program. don't use firefox. just updated safari, snow leopard, nothing unusual installed recently.
any ideas? know issue? i've seen a few posts, but they mostly relate to firefox.

After I installed the recent security update for Mac OS X v10.6.2 Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro, I noticed this problem just today. The problem affects all multi-touch gestures, including but not limited to the following:
    Gestures Not Working
    3 finger swipe
4 finger swipe (switching applications, show deskop, and expose')
    Rotate & Pinch
    Gestures Working for now
Secondary click (on bottom-right of trackpad)
    2 finger right-click
    2 finger scrolling
    Tap to click
    Click
Dragging (without enabling "tap to click")
I've had my MacBook Pro since December 2009 when I bought it at a Best Buy, and I have a Best Buy warranty so if it is hardware-related, then I can just drop it off at a local Best Buy and let a Geek Squad Agent deal with it.
If you want to send your complaints to Apple about this issue, send an email using this link ([email protected]). According to AppleInsider.com, the public release of Mac OS X v10.6.3 Snow Leopard is expected to be released in 6 weeks from now with more support for certain technologies, applications, and more stability to target crashes, bugs, etc.

  • Three finger swipe crashes applications (eg Firefox and Spotify)

I use the latest version of Lion (10.7.2) with a Magic Trackpad and ever since I upgraded to Lion the three finger swipe gesture results in crash in several different applications (e.g. Firefox 6+7 and Spotify). The crashes in Firefox is very annoying since I would like to use the gesture as back-forward navigation.
Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Your suggestion of using the Console helped me to solve the issue. I noticed in the console logs that several applications complained about not being able to reach something related to "Library/InputManagers/MultiClutchInputManager". So obviously I hadn't removed all traces of the input tools I used before.
So I deleted two files and one folder in InputManagers folder (all files were all related to MultiClutch) and restarted the computer. Now after the reboot, Spotify doesnt crash and I can use the three finger swipe in Firefox to navigate back/forward.
Thanks for the suggestions, William Boyd, Jr.!

  • Two finger swipe when viewing PDFs

Two finger page swipe doesn't seem to work in Acrobat Reader, but only for left-right (up-down works)! Does anyone experience the same?

I'm having the same issue on two machines. Love the two finger swipe but the page refreshing is annoying.

  • How do I enable the three finger swipe gesture to go forward / backwards using Windows 8 for an elantech touchpad?

The three finger swipe gesture works fine within Windows and in other browsers, but in Firefox (which is my primary browser) it doesn't seem to work.

    Hello Dylmar,
There are a few Firefox add-ons that may work for you. Give these a try:

  • Two finger swipe was working for Firefox 7 in my macbook pro running lion yesterday but not today. i have installed Alfred. Has that broken it?

I was able to use the two finger swipe gesture on my macbook pro trackpad in firefox 7. It was working fine but has just stopped working. It does work if I hold the alt key while swiping but that seems a bit pointless. The only thing I have changed on my mac is that I installed Alfred. Has that broken the gesture?

Sorry to tell you this but it's starting to sound like a hardware issue.
Reason being is because youi've had this issue when you had 2GB of RAM, and running Leopard to Snow Leopard then to Lion.
Even after you've reinstalled everything it was still giving you issues.
Ok, try this one.  Open the back of your MB, take one RAM out of the top slot, then turn your MB on and see if it still freezes.  If it does, then take the lower RAM off the botton slot and install it on the top slot.  Turn it back on.  If the problem stops, then it could be your RAM slots.
