3 finger swipe not working

i don't know when it stopped, i have installed snow leopard, can't be sure it was since then, but my 3 finger swipe has stopped working in any program. don't use firefox. just updated safari, snow leopard, nothing unusual installed recently.
any ideas? know issue? i've seen a few posts, but they mostly relate to firefox.

After I installed the recent security update for Mac OS X v10.6.2 Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro, I noticed this problem just today. The problem affects all multi-touch gestures, including but not limited to the following:
Gestures Not Working
3 finger swipe
4 finger swipe (switching applications, show deskop, and expose')
Rotate & Pinch
Gestures Working for now
Secondary click (on bottom-right of trackpad)
2 finger right-click
2 finger scrolling
Tap to click
Click
Dragging (without enabling "tap to click")
I've had my MacBook Pro since December 2009 when I bought it at a Best Buy, and I have a Best Buy warranty so if it is hardware-related, then I can just drop it off at a local Best Buy and let a Geek Squad Agent deal with it.
If you want to send your complaints to Apple about this issue, send an email using this link ([email protected]). According to AppleInsider.com, the public release of Mac OS X v10.6.3 Snow Leopard is expected to be released in 6 weeks from now with more support for certain technologies, applications, and more stability to target crashes, bugs, etc.

  • Zoom the screen with ctrl   2-Finger Swipe not working in Mavericks

I just bought a new Macbook Air for my wife (running Mavericks) and can't figure out why the Zoom the screen with ctrl   2-Finger Swipe is not working.
I can't find the setting anywhere.
I looked on my Macbook Pro running Mavericks (on which the zoom still works), but I cannot find the setting on that computer either.
    Please help.
    Thanks

System Preferences---> Accessibility---> Zoom---> Use scroll gesture with modifier key to zoom. Select ctrl in the drop down menu.
It's a feature not normally turned on, so you might of had it turned on on your Mac before upgrading to Mavericks. And it just kept the setting.

  • Magic Mouse - Two Finger Swipe not working in Finder + iTunes

    Hello,
since OSX 10.8 I realized that in Finder & iTunes the backward/forward navigation has stopped working with Magic Mouse (two-finger-swipe gesture).
I have already read a lot of forums as well as apple-discussions and didn't find a solution apart from MagicPrefs or any other 3rd-party-app.
Is that a bug or just not meant to work? Does anybody know why Apple stopped providing this - very useful - gesture?
Thank you for your time and have a perfect day
    Sascha

    Pual_31 suggested good advise...
I would also recommend if that does not work, to reboot and run "repair permissions" from Disk Utilities.
Also might suggest downloading and trying MagicPrefs, it's a free program for the Magic Mouse and it really works great. May help with your problem, may not but I'd give it a try.

  • Four finger swipe not working on iPad

The four finger swipe feature to switch between open apps is not working on my iPad.  How can I restore this feature?

Your tagline say that you are running iOS 4.2. It doesn't Work in iOS 4.2. you need to upgrade to iOS 5 if you want that feature. You need to update via iTunes on a computer for this update. After you update to iOS 5, you can do future updates OTA via WiFi.

  • Multi finger gesture not working

    Hi,
    My laptop is hp 15-r014TX.
Recently my touchpad multi finger gesture has stopped working. I can not scroll using 2-finger scroll, right click, rotation, zoom in and out. However, one-finger gestures are all working fine like I can swap between apps by left swipe, options appear by right swipe. I tried changing the settings, but of no use.
    Thanks,
    Pragya

    Hello @Pragya_Mathur ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP 15-r014tx Notebook and the finger gestures not working correctly. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot the finger gestures on a Touchpad.
If you will go to the section on common TouchPad gestures, TouchPad and ClickPad configuration options are located on the TouchPad properties page. It shows you the Clickpad properties page. You can select the options.  This only works on programs that have this capability, such as a photo browser or word processor.
Hope this fixes your issue with finger gestures.
    Thanks.

  • Windows 8.1 pro 64 bit - finger print not working (sony viao 15126pab)

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows8_1-hardware/windows-81-pro-64-bit-finger-print-not-working/664d9ca8-a0ea-479f-851d-3631e3c1404c hi i am using sony svs 15126pab  2 days before firefox hanged so i forcefully shutdown the system , after rebooting fingerprint not workingthen i go to device manager i found biometrics working properly , 2, 3 times restarted then also finger print not working, then i checked the authentic true suite " its giving error message box and closing every times then i uninstall authentic true suite and installed again ,it asked registration and i  registered but i didn't see the finger enrolling options in the software . i enabled biometrics options  in administrative templates (components) , other options also enabled in services restarted , reinstalled from Sony Store  - nothing helps..................... please help me ,,, i cant enable the add option of fingerprint in sign in options in settings.. the add option is like deactivated , no biometrics tool in control panel, no fingerprint enrolling option in authentic true suite . i purchased the system with windows 8 pro then upgraded to 8.1 now its reserved to windows 10 . so pls give me some solutions to rectify this problem

I cant access any printers, not even the virtual printers.
What I would do is use ProcMon to find out why that Event entry was written.  Then I imagine I would get a clue about a .dll which might be involved, which hopefully might be registerable.  Since IE9 there have been new .dll  involving printing
which have not been reflected in any of our repair tools.  However, instead of modifying our old scripts to reflect this fact, I have been advocating, so far unsuccessfully, that Microsoft create a proper IE Repair tool, one which does not rely on such
unreliable techniques.   E.g. a better method of repairing would be to have it done by a proper troubleshooter (an .msdt file) but so far it seems nothing has been done in that way for these symptoms (again, assuming the cause is registry corruption
and not simple interference from now incompatible third-party programming--the fix for that would be to identify and remove the incompatibilities.)   For example.

  • Finger sensor not working and some time iphone 6 screen also hang/pause  for few seconds

In my iphone6 finger sensor not working and some time iphone 6 screen also hang/pause  for few seconds.

Try cleaning the sensor, remove all fingerprints from the settings, and the start over in recognizing prints. There are a number of things that make prints hard to read, sweat, lotion, dirty hands, etc.

  • 3 finger backswipe not working on safari

    Hello,
Well besides the 3 finger backswipe not working very well, and tempermental at best. Safari has also not been able to load certain pages (my firefox does just fine) , it has also been suuuuperr slowwwww. And just in general not working well at all. In other words it's been crappy.
So, uh, whats up with Safari.
I already did a permissions repair, and a 'Safari Reset' (multiple times), finishing always with a clean restart of the machine.
I do have snow leopard still, as my os (10.6.8). I have a macbook pro, 7.1
So hey everybody whats up with Safari, anyone know how to fix this?
Do I need to uninstall Safari and reload it? Is that possible?
Please only answer if you really know what is going on with safari, thanks
    -Mo

Yeah, I get no replies from any of the techs here. Everyone has usually always been friendly and cordial and helpful here. But , only silence regarding this issue.
I may have thrown some people off when I stated in my original question, "Please only answer if you really know what is going on with safari, thanks ""
Well the reason I said that is , sometimes I get people who say things like, "Do a permission repair" or, "Check your Prefrences for Trackpad."
,,,,,,Already did all that. Did that before I ever got on this forum, that stuff is like real basic protocols for me.
I want to know what the heck is really going on,,,,,,just like you.
Anyone else have a real clue?
    thanks, all

  • Two finger swipe was working for Firefox 7 in my macbook pro running lion yesterday but not today. i have installed Alfred. Has that broken it?

I was able to use the two finger swipe gesture on my macbook pro trackpad in firefox 7. It was working fine but has just stopped working. It does work if I hold the alt key while swiping but that seems a bit pointless. The only thing I have changed on my mac is that I installed Alfred. Has that broken the gesture?

Sorry to tell you this but it's starting to sound like a hardware issue.
Reason being is because youi've had this issue when you had 2GB of RAM, and running Leopard to Snow Leopard then to Lion.
Even after you've reinstalled everything it was still giving you issues.
Ok, try this one.  Open the back of your MB, take one RAM out of the top slot, then turn your MB on and see if it still freezes.  If it does, then take the lower RAM off the botton slot and install it on the top slot.  Turn it back on.  If the problem stops, then it could be your RAM slots.

  • Three finger swipe stopped working

My three finger swipe has stopped working for the last week. I have used it for a year and suddenly it is not working. I have tried togging it on and off in the preference pane with no change. Tested it in Safari and FF with no reaction.

Try doing a PRAM reset, the instructions are:
    *Resetting PRAM and NVRAM*
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.

  • Finger gesture not working on ipad

Ever since the iOS 8 update and the latest updates there after, figure gestures on my iPad are simply not working. To get then to work you need to drag down from the top of the screen to see notifications and then it works. have spoken to apple and they suggested it was an app but it does it on everything. Come on apple sort this out its very frustrating. Has anyone had this and have a solution ?

Define "finger gestures". The iPad is a touch screen device so that's a pretty broad category. If you are talking about multi tasking gestures, like pinching to the home screen, or using a four finger swipe, I have found it to be flakey since the iOS 8 update as well. If it quits working on me, I go into the Settings>General>Mulitasking Gestures and turn it off, then on again. That's not a fix, but it usually holds for a few weeks before I uave to do it again.
