3 finger swipe on Safari

Hi,
When browsing long web pages, i used to be able use 3 finger swipe down to go to end of page and swipe up to go to top. With new Safari 5 it does not work anymore. It still works on Firefox though. Any ideas?

  • 2 finger swipe in Safari/iTunes

    I have a late 2007 Macbook Pro with 10.6.2.
As you know it has 2 finger scrolling, but no 3 finger swiping
But now I was thinking, it registers 2 finger horizontal scrolling, shouldn't it be able to switch that to a swipe?
So I mean that if I do a 2 finger swipe in Safari, it goes to the previous/next page and in iTunes it goes to the previous/next song.
    Thanks!

There is no option to use 2 finger swipe for page browsing or iTunes
    Just the horizontal scrolling
But I think you think I have a Macbook Pro who is able to do 3 finger swiping, but that's not true, the maximum number of fingers this one can detect is only 2
That's why I'm asking if I can use a 2 finger swipe for these abilities

  • Two-finger swipe in Safari makes site unresponsive

    Hi,
I am having trouble with two-finger swipe.
If I swipe back or forward while browsing, all navigation on the site stops working. With mousover links show up, but nothing happens when clicked. Scrolling up and down altso stops.
Using the back and forward navigation do not have this affect.
    I'm running Safari 5.1.1 on OS X 10.7.2 on a MacBook Air.
Does anyone know a fix for this trouble?
    Regards,
    SDS

There are reports that this problem can be solved by simply restarting, or by resetting the PRAM.

  • Two-finger swipe in safari

When I swipe to the right with two fingers in Safari are those all separate windows that had been opened by me inadvertently?

Swiping right with 2 fingers normally goes back in browsing history by one page, or forward if you've disabled 'natural' gestures in trackpad preferences.

  • No two finger swipe for navigating files in Lion?

I use the track pad and just updated to Lion - which has some great features. But I while I can two finger swipe on Safari pages to go back and forth, I don't seem to be able to do that now when going through my files in Finder....
Am I missing something or is this the way it is now?....
    Any help would be appreciated!

check your gestures settings in system preferences>trackpad>more gestures tab

  • Lion broke 2-finger swipe on apps?

I used to enjoy 2-finger swipe to go forward and backwards in applications.
For example, 2-finger swipe on Chrome browser (or any browser) would go back/forward on previously viewed webpages.
On iTunes, 2-finger swipe would help me easily navigate back to All Artists view.
Now, 2-finger swipe can be turned on or off for scrolling through desktops.
Is there any solution to get the old function of 2-finger swipe back? 1-finger swipe does not replicate the former use.

In system prefs, try chosing "Swipe with Two or Three fingers" in the drop down menu for Swipe Between Pages. You can still use the 2 finger swipe in safari, but you can use the old 3 finger swipe (with the old direction) in iTunes/Finder/Mac App Store etc.
Let me know if this helps!

  • 2 finger swipe on GE60 ond

    Hi!
The two finger swipe on the touch pad on my ge60 ond suddenly stopped working. So what I did is reset the laptop but still it does not work. I then installed the driver found on the website and then rebooted. After that, my computer crashes and restarts by itself, so I had to uninstall the driver.
    Please help!

  • Two finger swipe has gone wrong.

I was messing with the two finger swipe in safari where you swipe back and forth for the forward page and backward page with the cool animation. Everything was fine until i found out that this can not be done in Google Chrome or Firefox. So I decided to switch to the three finger swipe and sure enough, the back and forth in those browsers worked like a charm. I was showing off to a buddy and went back to the two finger swipe to show him the animation and how cool and easy it was and the weirdest thing happened. The page would swipe about a quarter of the way and than bounce back. I tried more gesture settings and nothing. I quit safari and rebooted and nothing. I have set every defualt setting and nothing. Is there anyone that would know whats going on? Thanks

More info - I noticed that when I use quite a bit of velocity to swipe, meaning that I start literally on one end of the keyboard and swipe across the trackpad and well onto the other side of the keyboard, then the pages will in fact move as they're supposed to (forward or backward).  Thing is this is in no way supposed to be normal behavior.  It's like there's a speed caliper on the feature that's set way too insensitive.  Now I'm wondering if this is actually a setting in preferences that somehow got out of whack.  The only setting I can find though has to do with the speed of the arrow pointer, not with the sensitivity of the two-finger swipe to activate.

  • Two finger swipe keeps refreshing page

When I do a two finger swipe in Safari 5.1 (Lion), it goes back to the previous page but always refreshes that page.  Nothing on the previous page ever changes.  Is there a way to make Safari stop refreshing it?

I'm having the same issue on two machines. Love the two finger swipe but the page refreshing is annoying.

  • Using multiple desktops with a 4 finger swipe on a Mac Book Pro running Lion- is there a way that I can allow Safari open on several but not all??  Looks like I can set it for one but not others.  All, one, or nothing

    Hey Eric,
Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.
Again, thanks for trying, it is appreciated.

  • 2 finger swipe only work for safari

just installed Lion on MBP,  2 finger swipe back and forward only work for safari & ical, not even finder?

Change the setting for Swipe Between Page to "Swipe with two or three fingers" works for me in Finder now :-)

  • Missing major feature in safari. Finger swipe back and forward

The three finger swipe forward and backward in safari is missing. It seems to zoom/move the page. Apple please add this feature. It's so clumsy to me to have to go to the top of the page to go back or forward.

With touch as the only input method, people will be a lot more sensitive to these nuances. I'm sure Apple will refine this kind of thing in the next OS update (4.0? 4.1?).

  • Safari-Two Finger Swipe = White Screen

I was under the impression that the latest updateto Safari was supposed to fix this issue. But whenever I browse this forum and two finger swipe to go back in safari I get a white screen that lasts anywhere between 5-8 seconds while the page reloads. Any fix for this?

Go to System Prefernces and Trackpad or Mouse, depending on which you are using, and see that the gestures you want to use are all checked.

  • 3 finger swipe to navigate Safari

On my old MBP (2.66 Ghz Core 2 duo running 10.6.8) I could always navigate between pages in Safari using a 3 finger swipe (left for back, right for forward). My new 2.7 Ghz i7 with 10.8.4 won't do it. I've tried Safari Preferences and System Preferences trackpad settings with no avail. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hey DigitMus,
Thanks for the question. With the introduction of Lion, the swipe to navigate default gesture changed to a two-finger scroll. System Preferences > Trackpad provides three options for "Swipe between pages":
    - Scroll left or right with two fingers
    - Swipe with three fingers
    - Swipe with two or three fingers
You'll want to make sure this preference is set as you wish, and checked to be enabled. For more information, see these resources:

Apple - Use your fingers to use your Mac in OS X Mountain Lion.

Swipe to navigate – Web pages in Safari, documents in Preview and more, just like thumbing a page in a book. Note: If there is horizontal content to scroll, this gesture will first scrolls to the end of content and then it will move to the next page.
              - Magic Trackpad – A horizontal two finger swipe will show the next or previous page. Tip: Once you pass the rubber-band threshold, lift your fingers to change page.  Also you can flick your fingers at the end of the swipe for momentum.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.
