3 iPods and Now MacBook Air lose internet while still connected to network

I have 2 Belkin N+ routers running 2 wifi networks at my home.  I have 2 iPod Touch 2G's and a 4th gen iPod. ALL of them loose the internet after anywhere from 2 to 15 min of turning on wifi on the device - on either router. They are still connected to the network, but the only way to re-establish internet connectivity is to turn wifi off, then back on again on the device. Also, if I leave wifi on for an extended time, like overnight, it drains the batteries on the iPods completely dead.
Now, a friend with a MacBook Air came over and had the same issue, with the same "fix."
No other devices have this issue. We have 2 Windows laptops, a Wii, and an Android phone that do not have this problem. Moreover, none of my Apple devices have this issue with any other network I've ever connected to.
I've tried all the fixes suggested here (reseting my iPods and the routers, messing with the DHCP settings, new OS's, etc). I have to assume it's an issue with Apple and Belkin, but I have no idea how to fix it.

Latest firmware. No, doesn't happen with other networks. In fact, one of the wireless routers was at work, and I didn't have the problem when it was there. I could stream online music all day without a problem. Then I moved it home & now I do. Very strange.

Cleaned files and apps with "app cleaner" and now MacBook Air turns off during start up. What happens? What can I do? Please help

The "app cleaner" managed to do bad things to the file system so that it is unable to boot any longer.
This is the primary reason I always recommend that any of those so called "cleanup" apps never be used. They do more harm then good.
Try a safe boot by holding down the shifgr key when you hear the boot chime. Maybe that can fix the damage.
    Let us know what happens.

  • MacBook Air taking a while to connect to Internet

Recently, my MacBook Air has been taking some time to connect to the Internet (via my Airport) upon waking from standby mode.  It connects to the Airport router immediately and all indicators suggest that I'm connected to the Internet, but I can't get to Google, etc. for about 45 seconds.
Though this is not a major problem, it does take considerably longer than usual to connect to the Internet.  In addition, it seems as though Mail and Calendar need to be shut down and reopened for both applications to connect to the web, Cloud, etc., even after Safari kicks in and I can surf the web.
My MacBook Air is up to date with all software, etc. and I'm on 10.8.3.  My other devices (iPhone, iPad) seem to connect fine after "waking" them standby.
    Any ideas?

Thanks, dominic23, but this hasn't helped.  As I type this, my email inboxes each have a ! next to them, indicating they are still offline or not connected. I have to shut and reopen Mail--and presumably Calendar, too--if I want them to connect.

  • I tried to update my iPod and now it's saying that iTunes cannot connect the iPod. What should I do?

I updated my iTunes and then went to update my iPod to the newer 4.2 version that it kept asking me to and now it says that iTunes cannot connect the iPod. My iPod is now unusbale because the screen on the iPod itself shows that i need to connect it to iTunes, but when I do, there's an error message that pops up telling me that iTunes cannot connect it. Help!! How do I fix this?!

  • MacBook air loses default wi-fi connection

I am a new Mac owner, with a MacBook Air running OS X 10.7.2. For weeks after getting it, it would always connect automatically to my default home Wi-Fi network. Not any more, as every time I power up or wake from sleep I have to reselect my router on the Wi-Fi. This seems to have happened randomly. I have it as no 1 in my Wi-Fi preferred networks under advanced network settings. 'Remember networks' is ticked.
Does anyone know if I can stop this and make it connect automatically again? I have already done the suggestion of going into network preferences > wi-fi and deleting the network with minus button... it still asks me to reconnect to it every time it boots or wakes..

  • My MBP 15" late 2009 drops internet while still connected to router

I've had this problem ever since I got this laptop, at first I didn't realize something was wrong and only last year did I realize that it wasn't just my old crappy router.
    My Problem:
My MBP drops connection to the internet(1-2 times a day) without disconnecting from my wireless router. This is very odd since the computer rarely goes more than 10 meters away from it and I've never seen this problem on my other machines or my iPhone.
The only temporary fix I've been able to do is to turn my Airport off and on again, somehow the internet works again after this. But still it isn't a proper fix, me being somewhat of a gamer I cannot handle any disconnections over 10 seconds at all or I'll be kicked out of the server
    What I've tried:
    Checked my network priority list
    Zapping the PRAM
    What should I do?
    Thanks in advance

  • My 2012 MacBook Air loses internet services after 10:00 everyday.

Everyday at exaclty 10:00 pm my Macbook loses connection to my wifi network, after reconnection to the network I do not have the ability to surf the web or preform any task requiring a internet connection until 7:00 am. Can anyone please help me, I can't function like this anymore.

If you are positive wifi loss occurs exactly at 10pm  etc.  then your Air could not be at fault, rather your network.
contact your service provider for in depth options, they will ALSO perform a test on your network and base station (depending on how youre connected).

  • Macbook Air loses internet connection after I close the cover

This happens all the time. Whenever I walk away from the computer, I'll close the cover for security. When I return, I'll be prompted for my password.
After I sign back in, on the top, I'll still have my five bars for network connectivity. But if I try to refresh or open a webpage, it will time out.
If I switch from one wifi network to another, it works. I have a dual-band router with a 2.4g and 5g network running. This problem occurs if I'm connected to either, and switching to the other network makes the internet work. Also, in the case of Facebook, after it times out I can then put in Facebook.com and then it goes back to pulling up normally.

If it disconnects, you can use the icon in the menubar to reconnect rather than restart.
If the icon isn't in the menubar then go to System Preferences > Network > Select WiFi on the left > check "Show WiFi status in the menubar"

  • MacBook AIr usb ethernet slow when connected to second switch

    Hi,
We have MacBook Airs with 100 Mbps Apple USB ethernet adapters.
We have managed Cisco switches for the LAN.
We experience fast speeds when a USB etherenet/MacBook Air is connected directly to the switch.
However... if we introduce a second switch between the MacBook AIr and the main Cisco switch we experience horiffic slowdowns for some (not all) network activity.
For example, we have IP phones with ethernet passthrough. They work great with iMacs and Thunderbok Macbook Airs. However, if we connect a MacBook AIr/etherenet adpater to the ethernet phone, we expereience a horrific slowdown when using Apple Remote Desktop Manage > Copy items... (and also on connectoins to an in-house database). It's probably 15 - 20x slower than when connected directly to the Cisco switch. Other network operatoins work at expected speeds an the Air.
It's not just connecting to IP phnones that causes this problem. If I use a Netgear 1000/100 switch on the desktop, set up as
MacBok Air USB ethernet > Netgear > Cisco
we have the same horrible slowdown for some network operations.
I purchased a 3rd party USB adpater, but had the same results.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue, please? Is there a setting onn teh CISCO switch that is causing the problem? Any know problmes with USB etherenet on MacBook air.
    Many thanks,
    b.

Is this a question? A complaint? Nothing any of us can do about that, and this is a well-documented and well-known issue.
It doesn't effect most MBA users who most likely use wireless for most of their transactions, and the times you need to use ethernet, you are right, it will run slower.
Just curious I have a pretty fast 5N wifi network. If I'm setting up a new MB Air from another laptop is it going to be faster through the ethernet adapter or the wifi network?

Sometimes you have to reset the SMC two or three times for it to work, don't know why. I've seen that error message before and 100% of the time it was fixed with an SMC reset. I suppose it's possible that your keyboard or mouse IS drawing too much power, do you have access to another you could try?

  • I own an iMac and a Macbook Air and I have iWorks on my iMac. Can I copy it to my Air so that I can use it while working out-of-town? It would not be used on both computers simultaneously.

It depends on how you bought iWork (no 's').
If you bought a single-user retail box or license from the trial, no, you cannot legally install it on another Mac.
If you bought a family pack retail box or licesnce, you can install on up to five Macs in your household.
If you bought it from the Mac App Store, you can install the apps on as many Macs that you have by opening the Mac App Store & clicking on Purchases. Enter your Apple ID & click install.

I can't help you with a direct answer.  For third-party devices you should contact the vendor (Vodafone).
If you have an iPhone (or an Android phone with hot-spot capability) you can use that to connect to the Internet without paying for a separate cellular service.
