3 isight cameras on a network.  Only one works

I'm at a church and three of us have isight cameras. We can talk to each other, but my computer is the only one that can use isight to connect to people outside of our church building. The other cameras won't do video or audio chats with people outside the building. Any ideas? I checked the firewall settings in system preferences and they're exactly the same. I'm not sure where to start.

That user needs to do the same iSight tests you have done and check out the other the iSight Tips and FAQ.

All iChat AV 3 users should upgrade to 10.4.2. 10.4.2 upgrades iChat to iChat AV 3.0.1, which significantly reduces iChat problems for many users. If you are still having problems, there are other tips in Help for iChat AV 3 Problems.
<hr> ... switch the router that the main internet line flows through for the church and school.If you have multiple subnets or LANs in your "church and school" you may have induced problems that way. You can easily check whether this is the source of your problems by moving one of the Macs that currently does NOT work to the LAN connection you are using that DOES work. If that fixes your issue with the problem Mac, the problem is in your configuration or connections.

    there's something wrong internally in your iPod.
    Try different songs to see if all of them only play on one side. also try apps to see if the sound is on one side or both.
    Try a different set of headphones/ear buds to see if they sound different
    if neither of the above fixes it then you may want to have Apple check out the device and see if the jack is broken

    You will need to replace the AirPort Express with another wireless router that has a built-in Ethernet switch ... like the AirPort Extreme.

    I'm using a MacBook Pro (2007) and a Mac Pro. Currently I've got them connected, via ethernet, to enable me to swap files etc, and to connect to the Internet.
    What I would like to do is find a way to use my iSight Cam (on my MacBook Pro) through my Mac Pro.
    Is it possible?
    I know I can use it, in a way, via remote desktop, but that's not quite what I want.
    Any ideas?

    In addition to remote desktop, you can also do it via Screen Sharing.
    If you don't want to use either remote desktop or screen sharing, my best suggestion is to add a compatible cam like one of those described here that meets your needs.

  • Broadcast my iSight camera on local network

    I have 2 computers at home, an Core2Duo iMac in my living room running the latest OS X 10.5.3 and a windows laptop in the basement. I work from home in the basement, and I'd occasionally like to be able to see what is going on in the kitchen by somehow viewing the iSight camera in the iMac through my Windows PC via the local network.
    I'd rather not have the iMac broadcasting the iSight camera all the time, I'd prefer to have a way to enable the camera in an on-demand basis.
    Is this possible and what software/configuration would I need to use to accomplish this? Thanks in advance for any answers.

    I have used this application on both PC and Mac for screen sharing on local networks.
    It has been some time ago but it was easy like Bonjour.

    I've had my 4th gen iPod for a while now. I just got my wife one over craigslist. Hers came with a firewire connection. However, only my Ipod will sync with our iMac 10.4.11, iTunes 7.6. Her ipod only charges. I know that after the 4th gen's firewire was no longer available for syncing. Why would only one of the two ipods work with firewire when they are identical? (both running ipod software 3.1.1)

    It looks like the answer to my problems was a bad hard drive. Sent it to the ipod doctor and after a $159 repair, I'm back in business http://nycipoddoctor.com/

  • Multiple rollover areas on a slide, only one works

    Hi all,
    Long time reader, first time poster. I have been looking through all the forums and can't find a solution for this issue.
    I have a slide with six rollover captions, arranged in two rows of three. Beneath each rollover caption is a regular caption containing a statement; the viewer is intended to mouse over the statement, and the rollover will pop up a caption saying whether the statement is true or false. After ten seconds a button appears and pauses the slide, and the viewer can click the button to go to the next slide.
    When I preview the project, only the top left of the boxes works right away as intended. Then after ten seconds, the button appears, and the other five start working just fine. One weird thing is that during that first ten seconds, the mouse cursor still changes to a hand icon on all of the rollovers, so it recognizes that they are there, but nothing pops up.
    The issue seems to have to do with the button, but I have tried adjusting its timing, its order in the layer stacks, I have tried deleting the button, I have tried copying all the elements except the button to a new slide, and I'm still getting the same problem, and the buttons start working properly at the ten-second mark regardless of where the button is. All the rollover captions and rollover areas have identical properties as far as I can tell. The rollover areas are at the top of the layer stack, and are not overlapping. The top left (on the stage) is always the only one that works properly, no matter how I arrange them in the layer stack.
    I have tried everything I can think of. Now I humbly turn to you. Shot of my timeline below. Thanks in advance!

    Are there any objects on earlier slides that are set to Rest of Project that might be overlapping your hit areas on this slide?
    For example, something that caused a similar issue once was having a widget on an earlier slide.  The widget in question (Adobe Course Companion) was set to Rest of Project and ended up obscuring the hit area of interactive objects on later slides.  Not sure if this helps, but if you were able to paste these Smart Shapes into a different single slide project and they still didn't work there, then my idea probably wouldn't be an issue either.  This might be one of those issues that only happens on a MAC.

    My son and daughter both have ipod nanos. One works and is recognized in itunes. The other is not recognized by our computer or her laptop. I have reset it as far as I know and tried it with both cords. It is not the USB because the other works in it. The thing is charged and will play music! I need help I hate this little thing!!!

  • Two cameras, but only one works at a time, need help

    I've gone over the messages here but not found any answers to my type of problem.  I have two WVC54GCAs both have static IPs on my lan and I can view them both fine from there. 
    I forwarded the port for one to 47624 and the other to 47625 in my router at home and in the camera configuration I specified to use these alternate ports instead of the default 80 port.  When I get in to work and try to view them over the internet by their ip address and port# (e.g. http://22.22.22.222:47624) I get a timeout error, but I can see one if I go to port 22.22.22.222:80 (even though the port I specified in the camera setup was an alternate port).  I used dyndns open port testing tool (http://www.dyndns.com/support/tools/openport.html) which shows 47624 and 47625 are both open ok. 
    I can log into my router on 22.22.22.222:8080 from work and the router logs show that the dyndns tool connected to the router via these ports upon testing.  I was using a Netgear router and thought that might be the problem, so went out and got a Linksys wRT54G2 router to see if that worked better, but have the same issue as with the Netgear.  Here's the weird part, if I go into the router from work and change one of the cameras to forward to port 80 instead of the alternate port I'd set for it, I can view that camera on port 80 despite the camera config still set to use an alternate port.  So then when I take the first camera off port 80 in my router and change the second one to port 80, I can view the second one as well that way.  I have Comcast as my ISP and a Motorola SB5100 cable modem and can't figure out why I am unable to bring them up over the internet using the alternate port settings I specified.  I've spent a lot of time on this, I'd really appreciate any help or other suggestions on what to do.

    As far as I know, all Comcast modems are just bridges...no firewalls in them at all.... The other possibility is that your IT dept at work is blocking the traffic...have you tried this from any other place outside your LAN?

  • Networking only one way...

    I can see every mac and pc on our network, share files, watch video and get internet, but no one can connect to my MacPro on the network. They can see my MacPro but it can not be pinged or connected to in any way shape or form.
    Any ideas?

    I'm from Tucson, so I'll come fix it for you. Well I won't come over, but try hitting your System Preferences. Go to Sharing, and while I'm not a Windows god (I'm much better looking than they are), turn on File Sharing, click options and enable AFP (mac) and SMB (windows) file shares.
    Maybe someone else can elaborate on folder permissions and access for fraser...

  • IOS print to HP ePrint service with 2 SSID on same network. One works, other not.

    I have this situation,  and wants to know if someone have the same problem.
    First of all, sorry for my english. 
    We have an infrastructre of various SSID,  and one of them is configured to public access, except our servers ( 192.168.0.0 network). The rest are private SSIDs, and access to all network traffic.
    We have some HP printers with ePrint service,  and works perfectly from any Wifi device printing to configured email on the HP ePrint service, from the private networks,  but don't works connected from Public SSID.   With a Laptop and an Android device it works perfectly, both private and public SSID.  Seems that iOS can't sync the email on public SSID, so they cant send it to hpeprint account.  The private and public SSID are on different subnetworks (192.168.3.0 and 192.168.9.0 ).  
    The routing and deny/permit rules are configured on a Cisco ASA 5300 device.   The SSID stations are all Cisco Aironet. 
    Problem seems incompatibility with some service / protocol on Cisco ASA and iOS software,  not in printing.  The problem is sending the email,  not printing it.
    I suspect it's on iOS side because on Laptops and Android it works fine.

    Typically this kind of thing is handled by tweaking the DHCP server to have a list of known client MAC addresses and turning off auto-allocation. Depending on your organization size, though, that might not be practical.
    The better solution, though may be to separate the networks and not try to ru them both on the same subnet. You would be better off creating a 192.168.168.x LAN and a 192.168.167.x LAN and enabling routing between them.
    Depending on your switch this maybe as simple as creating a couple of VLANs and designating each port as being in the .167 or the .168 network as appropirate.
    You then setup some device on the network as a bridge. Depending on which device you use, this could be your switch, a router you install, or even the existing router in your network.
    Clients in the .167 can still print to the .168 printers, and vice versa, by routing the print job through this bridge. If routing between the subnets is too much and you're only worried about printing you could install a print server in each network and run all print jobs through that.

  • Multiple email accounts - only one works correctly

    I've had a problem with using two email accounts simultaneously on my Z10 from the very beginning. I started with OS 10.1 and now on 10.2 the problem still occurs. My problem is that I can set up one account and it just works fine, but if I set up another account (set up works fine) it won't work properly. With the second account, I can send emails without any problems and the device also receives incoming emails, but if I open these, the text is not shown. I can read the adressor and also the subject, only the content of the email isn't shown.
    Of course, I've reinstalled those accounts and checked the settings several times. The result has always been the same. It also doesn't matter which provider I use - whether it's Yahoo or anything else. 
    Thus far I only experienced two exceptions where the text could be read. Unfortunately, I can't find any system behind that phenomenons.
    Can anyone of you help me? I would highly appreciate it! Thanks!
