3 monitors with ATI XT1900

Can it be done?
I have two 24" Dell and one 20" dell... i wonder if I can hook up a dual link dvi from one port to power the two 24" and one dvi to power the 20"
or do i need an extra card to power the third monitor?

A single ATI X1900XT will only support 2 monitors. If you wanted to run a third monitor you would need a second card. I don't know if anyone is running 2 X1900XT cards but it should be possible since the logicboard does have an extra power tap for another video card.

  • PPC G5 with ATI Radeon 9600 Pro monitors not getting signal

    hi there.
I have a PPC G5 with ATI Radeon 9600 Pro graphics card and I cannot get a monitor to work properly. I am trying an old Apple Studio Display (circa 2001) and a Viewsonic VA520.
It seems like the Apple display should work, but all I get is a black screen. I ran it through a DVI to ADC adapter and had it working for a short period of time, but for some unknown reason it went back to the black screen.
The Viewsonic gives a 'NO SIGNAL' screen and not much else.
Both of these monitors have worked on other G5's. I am guessing this is a graphics card issue.
I appreciate any kind or helpful words! Thank you.

I'm having a similar problem with the G5 not recognizing a VGA monitor on either video out. I have no problem using two monitors with the DVI inputs but I need to use a VGA video splitter for a third screen. It worked at the beginning of this week, and now it refuses any VGA out, even without the splitter, just going into directly into the VGA in of one of my working monitors via a DVI-VGA adapter(i've tried different ones). I read another post about trashing "displays" and "windowserver" preference files but i haven't yet tried that..any clues??

  • Problems with ATI Radeon HD 2600, electrical interference or flickering pix

Problems with ATI Radeon HD 2600, electrical interference or flickering pixels
I have a Macro 8 core purchased just 4 months ago with the ATI Radeon HD 2600. Just started getting what looks like electrical interference or flickering pixels all over the screen. It gets worse and worse to the point where i see and cant work then clears up for an hour and then comes back.
If I change the resolution from 1680x1050 to 1600x1200 everything looks fine and the problem goes away.
Monitor works fine on two other computers, driver is up to date.
Would like to upgrade at some point just disappointed that I’m already having problems.
Any suggestions would be very helpful, in the mean time I’ll searching the forums.
    Thanks,

When you called Applecare or went to a Genius bar were they of no help?

  • Looking to connect an external video monitor with BNC cable

I have purchased a DVI to Video adapter..and it is not being recognized by the MacPro or by FCP...what should I do to rectify this?

    This one? http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9267G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng
From the info on that page: The Apple DVI to Video Adapter is designed to work with the DVI port on the Mac Pro (with ATI X1900 XT) MacBook Pro, Mac mini and Power Mac G5 systems only.
This: http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/decklink/ would hve been a more appropriate choice if your monitor has a BNC connector.

  • Redraw problems on secondary monitor with 2 Acrobat documents

When I have two overlapping Acrobat 9 documents open on my secondary monitor and I click on the Acrobat doc in the background to bring it to the front, the image from the Acrobat doc that was in front is captured in the Acrobat document that I brought to the front.
I can't reproduce this problem on my primary monitor with Acrobat, and I can't reproduce this problem with any program on my secondary monitor. And I can't reproduce this problem on my secondary monitor with two document open with Adobe reader 8.0
    Window 2003 XP 64bit, SP2
    ATI FireGL V7350, primary/secondary
    Dual Dell 2407 WFP
    ASUS P5W DH Deluxe MB
    Intel Core2 x6800

I have the same problem here, but with either monitor.
Dell Precision T7400  Quadcore Xeon with 4GB RAM & Windows XP 32bit, Quadro 1700, two Dell 2001FPs (1200x1600)
Both my monitors are rotated 90' in Portrait mode. In landscape this doesn't appear to happen.
Acrobat 9.0 Pro, now patched to Acrobat 9.1
I can view full-monitor for a while, but then Acrobat stops redrawing/repainting properly when the window size exceeds a (variable) limit.
As a work-around, I start making the acrobat window size smaller until the window will redraw.
As time goes by, I have to keep making the window size smaller and smaller to get redraw work.
Eventually the window size required for redraw gets small enough that it's just too annoying and then I reboot the machine which makes it all good again for a short amount of time.
This and the OCR bug are my two biggest issues with Acrobat 9.

  • Can I use LCD monitor with beige G3 233 mhz desktop?

    Dear all,
I have a beige G3 desktop and want to use an LCD monitor with it.
I work mostly in OS9, but browse and email in OS X 10.3.9.
My Mas has the original video card in it, the ATI 3D Rage II.
Could I use a 19 inch LCD monitor with my Mac? Or would it have to be a 17 inch one.
I read on here that the mac treats lcd monitors just like CRT monitors.
what is the maximum resolution and monitor screen size I could use with my Mac?
    Please help.
I only have a dinky 15 inch CRT monitor and would like a bigger monitor for Photoshop and animation work.
    thank you

    Both are probably contributing factors.
I know this will open up another can or worms, but you could consider overclocking your processor; most G3s will take a speed bump up a notch or two (266 or 300 in your case). It's relatively easy to do- search the forum for more info. As an alternative, a faster G3 chip (350-400) can be had rather cheaply from eBay (~$25). There are also a few 16MB Rage 128 cards on eBay, some as cheap as $10. Just make sure you get the Mac PCI version- AGP won't work. With the new video card and a speed bump, playing videos should be greatly improved. Just don't spend too much money on the old beast.

  • How to Setup LCD Monitor and ATI Rage LT Pro ? Thanks

I have already added the 109401-01 Patch to Solaris 8 (x86) , but I got
a problem , that LCD Monitor and ATI Rage LT Pro was wrong in kdmconfig,
Someone can help me how to config them? thanks

Thanks for your response.I cannot sure which drivers should be selected , I have tried the all item of ATI,LCD monitor size and resolution in kdmconfig , but it doesn't work well ,even more , I didn't see any item which shows ATI LT Pro. The system is ok, color-mapping is right ,I can see the right color (256 colors) ,but something wrong with the right block of Login Screen that was redundant on the center of normal screen. 1152x900 resolution ,which is the default resolution in Solaris. My LCD limitation is 1024x768,I don't know that might be a problem or not, could it be a problem?
Thanks.if you can send me a mail ,I can send the picture to you.

I hada problem with ATI in my xorg 7 and my solution was to change the xorg.conf driver to ...vesa.
I don't know if your card supports fglrx but I suspect it may not and the ati-drivers are for that function.
    Just a thought...

  • Best way to add second monitor with HDMI input

I have a 24-inch Mid 2007 iMac.  Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo  Memory  4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM  Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB.  I need to add a second monitor, and while I'm at it, this new monitor will be an HDTV Monitor with an HDMI input.  My iMac has the original USB connections.  So I'm thinking an ethernet to HDMI adapter should do the trick.
Is this right?  If so, what supplier makes a good ethernet to HDMI adapter?

    Hi
I've always thought powered DVI (ADC) was introduced on the Gigabit Ethernet G4s, like your dual 500. It should be easy to check, as the graphics card has an extra power 'stub' which fits into an extra slot on the logic board, between the main AGP slot and the back of the computer. If all the gold connectors on the Radeon 9000 are seated, I think you must have powered DVI/ADC. If some are 'floating' above the logic board, you haven't.

  • Has anyone had success connecting 3 monitors with a Matrox TripleHead2Go?

I have a Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital Edition external monitor box but have had no luck getting it to work with 3 monitors on Mountain Lion.
First I managed to get it to drive two monitors, except there seemed to be no way to split them into separate monitors, as claimed in the advertising.
Then I got a 3rd monitor and connected it to the box and reconfigured the software. That is when the problems started. For a short time, it displayed on all 3 but with very low resolution, 600x800. When I tried changing the resolution then it would only display on one monitor through Output 1. That is a much as I have managed. I tried many times trying different settings, each time waiting 5 minutes each time. I have uninstalled and re-installed several times, tried different combinations for monitors. Nothing helps.
So I am wondering whether just to give up and use it as a paperweight and assume only PCs can use multiple monitors?

Trying to use a THTG digital (DVI) with a 2014 MBP retina.
Although it isn't supposed to work it does, although the matrox configuration tool is very annoying, keeps rebooting the machine, and I ultimately failed to connect 3 devices.
It is happy run 2 pico projectors at 1280x720@60x2, no problem. Insists on them being in ports 1 and 3.
Trying to connect a 3rd normal sized projector via VGA, resolution changes to 1280x720@50 and the picos won't work with it. Keeps asking to reboot OSX and not setting the resolution asked 1280x720@60x3, keeps setting 50hz.

  • Problem w Dual Monitors on ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB

Hi I'm having problems with Dual Monitors on ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB, Mac Pro 2009.
Setup: I'm running two 27" DELL U2713HM Displays at 2560x1440 one via direct DVI cable and the other one thru the Mini Display Port via Dual Link DVI adapter.
Now when I boot up the left screen displays the start-up apple as it should but then both screens go black and the right one (DVI connection) comes on while the left one stays black, goes into power safe mode. When I go into preferences > Displays I even get only one single display as if there were no multiple connected. It's however NOT a connection problem, since it works during the boot up sequence.
Any idea what might be wrong with my set-up? Do I need a new graphics card?

You do have the dual-link adopter connected to USB power right?
Next I would try using a displayport to mini displayport cable. You monitors have:
    Connectors VGA, 4 x USB 3.0, DVI-D (HDCP), HDMI, DisplayPort 1.2,
    That cable is about $10

  • K7D Master-L with ATI Radeon 7000

Is anyone using K7D Master-L with ATI Radeon 7000? I am not able to use this
combination. When I switch on the power, the screen doesn't show antying. It is just
blank.  Even though the monitor doesn't show up, if I don't press any key then the
system goes further till I see all the 4 leds as green and it tries to read from the
floppy drive. However, if I press a key after the keyboard is initialized, then the
d-bracket stops at Testing VGA BIOS. I haven't installed my hard drive at this stage.
MSI support asked me to try with another graphics card. They also suggested clearing
CMOS. I cleared the CMOS and the problem still exists. In addition, now the d-bracket
stops at "Initializing hard drive controller" though I didn't install hard drive. So, I went
ahead and installed my 200GB hard drive and no change. I think, to fix this issue, I
should first be able to fix my VGA issue. Also note that as I can't see the monitor from
the beginning, I don't know what my BIOS version is and if I can flash it with the latest
    version.

I just tried with Creative Lab's "3D Blaster Savage4 32MB AGP (32MB SDRAM) "   CT6900 which I borrowed from a friend. It didn't work either though this card is supposed to support AGP 2x/4x.  I need to see what other cards I can get hold of
    and try.
However, as I mentioned, initially the sequence was complete and I could see the 4 leds showing green. But after the advice from MSI tech support to try clearing CMOS for this problem, now the sequence stops at "Initiating Hard Drive Controller" (red red green green). Could this be because the BIOS doesn't know the HDD details after resetting CMOS? If so, once I get my VGA problem resolved will I be able to solve this problem
by entering into BIOS setup? At what stage does the BIOS setup screen show up when I press 'Del' key? If it is after the entire POST sequence then I will be stuck at the hard drive initialization. Also, I read that AMI BIOS supports Ins key which will bypass CMOS setup in the case. Does AWARD BIOS has any such functionality?

  • How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

How do i run an external monitor with my macbook and change settings so that when i close the lid the signal to the monitor is not lost and i can continue using the mac with a mouse and a wireless keyboard?

No, nothing will prevent the computer from going to sleep when you close its display except third-party hacks that are designed to do exactly that. I strongly advise against using any of those, as they may interfere with successful entry into clamshell mode (and they carry other downside risks as well). Just wait until the computer is asleep (with its sleep light pulsing), then press any key on the keyboard. It sounds as though your setup is working as it's designed to do.

  • How do I use two external monitors with my laptop?

I have a new Pavilion dm4-301 d cl Entertainment PC.   My OS is Windows 7.   I am used to using two external monitors with a docking station.   This new laptop does not have a docking station.  What do I need to get  to use two external monitors?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Certainly not without a dock but even with, HP laptop docks pretty well limit you to one of the external monitor ports, even if there are two on the dock. We have used a device called an Atlona AT-HDPIX2 which is a usb to hdmi adapter. It provides a third monitor capability for a laptop....use the native external monitor port and the internal laptop display and then this device gives a third monitor which is full configurable from the Windows 7 display interface...clone, extend, etc. It allows full HD resolution and is responsive enough for even light gaming.  HP makes no true docking station for your laptop.
