Very large numbers on screen

The numbers on my phone at times become so large that they won't all fit on the screen. The only thing I can do is turn it off and back on for them to be a normal size again. Sometimes it is almost impossible to turn it off because the area you have to swipe isn't showing on the screen. This has started happening pretty often. Anything I can do to stop this?

Thanks for the tip, but it hasn't worked for me, I always start with the Recent Files menu and that hasn't changed the app's behaviour in ... what, five years?
I think I know now how to get around this. The problem with getting the custom open dialogue (or whatever, the one I don't want) does not only apply when I start the app. If Numbers is running in the background with no open document, and I I switch to it by clicking the dock icon, I always get the dialogue as well. But if I switch to the app by using command+tab instead, I don't get the dialogue. That's what I have to do.
Most apps open up with no document, no idiot screen, nothing. It's just there, ready to go. That's the way I want it with Numbers as well. But the app designers apparently think I need some kind of hint on how to get going. I know, Apple apps aren't for professionals, but this kind of "help" without the option of turning it off is not usability. I can't really understand why Apple feel that they have to reinvent usability all the time. The same goes for the Save As command in Numbers (and probably the other apps as well), a very non-standard behaviour for no reason at all.

Vertical lines of "numbers" and screen distortion upon waking from sleep

Hi,
I'm posting this for my friend who has a G5 iMac (the first model on the market, about a year and a half old).
Suddenly, he's having a bizarre problem with it. Intermittently, when he wakes the machine from sleep, either immediately, or after several minutes, the screen will go all "double" or fuzzy on him, and then vertical lines of what look like "numbers" (almost like the famous "Matrix" effect) appear on the screen. Only a hard, power button reset will fix it. He called AppleCare, and they had him zap the PRAM, which didn't fix it. Now they say that because the problem is intermittent, there's nothing they can do for now.
Any ideas???

Bouj here.. I must say I am amazed at the amount of conversation this post has generated ..
I wanted to put out a few questions for those of us with iMac G5's, really it's a symptom I have noticed with both of the G5's that failed ..
If enabled, does the feature in Power option to dim the screen work reliably ?
I looked back at when the problems with both machines started and it was soon after the dimming feature just stopped working ...even after PRAM, SMU and Open firmware resets didn't do the trick after a fresh install of OS X 10.4.x
Obviously this is a power feature controlled by the logic board and both of my machines had logic board failures ...
If anyone can post their experiences and if they have notices this it may help others or even provide a warning sign for others ...

Numbers "full screen" in Lion doesn't display filename.

Since Apple is hyping full screen use, isn't that rather important considering versioning and all. Am I missing something?

Most likely the borked Finder updater. OPTION-click & hold the Finder's Dock icon and select RELAUNCH when that occurs. If it continues, file s but report with Apple.

Random missing letters/numbers on screen

Yesterday I noticed that while charging my ibook, the %charge read "8 %", meaning it was 80-something percent charged and the second digit was invisible.
A few moments later, the number 8 disappeared, then re-appeared, and random letters and numbers would shift, every few minutes, between disappearing, then re-appearing.
When my SO was typing an email, using Yahoo mail on Safari, later last night; random letters would also be invisible in her email. Apple Mail seemed unaffected, and her email to me read with no invisible letters.
Any idea of what's going on?
This may not be related, but my hard drive has been a little loud lately. I'll back everything up tonight, just to be safe.

Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.

VL02N-How search serial numbers quickly in IQ09 screen???

In our company,when doing VL02N for Outbound Delivery,sometimes for the finished product with serial numbers management, we will go to Menu "Extras" -> "Serial Numbers" to choose the serial numbers,then will go to the screen "Display Material Serial Number:Serial Number Selection" ,the same with IQ09.And there we will enter some elelments to quick search serial numbers for the finished product,just like "Material","Stock" and so on.
My question is in VL02N we have already input "Material ","Plant","Storage Location" values,then on the screen "Display Material Serial Number:Serial Number Selection",we hoped this values could be copied to the screen,not enter by ourselves again.By now,"Material" values could be copied to the IQ09 screen,but "Plant","Storage Location" values can not be copied to the IQ09 screen.
That means in IQ09 screen some data can be copied from VL02N directly?
Is it possible in SAP?How to do it?

I mean in Outbound Delivery with VL02N, we have already input "Material ","Plant","Storage Location" these values,and when go to menu "Extras" -> "Serial Numbers" to choose the serial numbers, on the IQ09
screen,we hope these "Material ","Plant","Storage Location" values will auto copied to the IQ09 screen to quickly search the serial numbers.

Cannot Open Numbers Spreadsheet (Numbers on iPhone)

I have a spreadsheet that I created and regularly update on my iPhone using Numbers.
I recently upgraded to version 1.5 of the Numbers app. Since then, one of my spreadsheets won't open - tapping on the file displays the progress wheel for a second and then nothing. The spreadsheet in question is 2.3Mb and contains a large number of formulae. All of my other spreadsheets are unaffected. When I try to send it to email / iTunes, etc. I see the message 'Send "(null)" to iTunes as:'. When I tap "Numbers", the screen displays a progress bar and "Sending...", but doesn't progress any further.
I used an application to recover the spreadsheet from the iTunes backup (http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=4974), renamed the resulting .numbers-tef filename as .numbers, but when I attempt to open the document in Numbers on my Mac, I receive the message 'The index.xml file is missing.'.
I also cannot import the retrieved file to my iPhone. After uploading the recovered document via iDisk and attempting to import on my iPhone, I receive the message 'Spreadsheet couldn't be imported. Numbers only supports documents saved with iWork '09.'
I opened the .numbers package and examined the index.db file and can see that it contains my data, but just can't figure out how to either:
get it on to my iPhone;
open it in Numbers on my mac.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I received a message from the Apple team asking for a copy of the files I extracted. I have yet to hear back from them.
I did download and install the latest version of Numbers for iPhone - 1.6. The spreadsheet that I was having all the trouble with - that I had left on my iPhone - opened after a short delay and none of my data was lost.
I was also able to email the spreadsheet to myself and transfer it to iTunes without issue.
Problem solved!

Document numbering setup problem

Hi,
I am trying to setup my document numberings on my new database but when I go to that screen it doe snot show me any primary default numbering setup it just shows me the table names and a blank field. I tried to add the primary number it comes up with ovelap error msg.
I am running 8.81 PL 6 which has has a different numbering setup screen.
I run the numbering restore process and it did not fix it either. I do not know if this is the release issue or a bad database.

Base on your description of the problem, it is more than likely the database issue.
To find the detail of the Document numbering , you may run query: SELECT * from ONNM and SELECT * from NNM1

Ipod touch screen darkened

Ipod touch has a darkened screen showing its plugged to itunes. Itunes says it has to be unlocked to recognize it and I cant unlock it because the numbers as screen wont come up. If I hold down the on/off button for the 10 seconds, the apple logo will come on, then it goes away. The red slider will also come on darkly, but it wont work. I cant get it past this point.

Are you sure you place the iPod in recovery mode? Placing the iPod in recovery mode bypasses (and essentially erases the iPod) the passcode. You can also use this program to place the iPod in recovery mode:

Numbers is blank

I just purchased my mac and downloaded iwork 09 trial yesterday. Now today when i bring up numbers the screen is black and only an outline of the templates. when i click on a template an error message: the document has been moved or deleted. Do i uninstall the trial and then re-install? i can get into keynote and pages just fine.

Just because your Mac is new & you just downloaded iWork '09 doesn't mean they are up-to-date. Not having the OS & iWork current is the main cause of so many problems users post here.
First, use the Mac OS 10.6.3 combo updater. This fixes a problem with the Hoefler Text font that is not fixed using the delta update (10.6.1 > 10.6.2).
Second, make sure your iWork applications are updated. For iWork '08 that is Pages 3.0.3 & Numbers 1.0.3. For iWork '09 it's Pages 4.0.3 & Numbers 2.0.3. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '08 or iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08 or iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '08 or '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

Broke the screen on my tninkpad h201 32492TU, appeared black circles.
Hardware Maintenance Manual provides part numbers of screens that fit on my laptop: 42T0709, 42T0711, 42T0713.
What's the difference?

RMAN SCREEN TOO MUCH INFO

Hi, anyone who gives to me the way to pause the screen as soon as you have a lot of info on that?
EX. im running a report obsolete to know what backups are obsolete and delete them, but i have a lot of screens then i dont know information.
another example, list backkupset summary.......i have a lot of backupsets, i want to review ther numbers by screen.
I want to pause the screen like we do on linux | more or something like that.

You could use the LOG option on your command line or you could use SPOOL LOG once in RMAN.
In addition, you can launch RMAN as:
rman | tee rman.logor simply specify a range for the LIST command to cover. For example,
list backupset summary completed before 'sysdate - 2';

Payment Proposal F110 for vendors

Dear experts,
Here is my requirement. A batch job should be scheduled to create a payment proposal. As soon as a proposal created, it should be routed to an approver via workflow to view the proposal and proceed further to run the payments.
We have about 20 company codes and only one company will be making a payment from only one bank account. We have about 4 different payment methods and few invoice document types. My questions are
is it best practice to schedule a payment proposal via a batch job?? i have seen people running the proposal manually..
1) Are there any standard workflows or user exits available to trigger when a proposal is created
2) What will be the best practice to give a logic to trigger a workflow? When we create a proposal, table REGUH will be updated for each payment document. So, if I ask workflow to look in reguh table for all payment runs on today's date and create a work item for all of the line item?
3) The reviewer will have only display access to the proposal once they click on work item in the workflow. So they would hit the display proposal icon to view the details.
3) I have only worked with four company codes based off four different countries. but, in this scenario we have sereral company codes for one country. what is the best practice to schedule a proposal for all company codes and payment methods at the same time? if i do this, i will have multiple payment programs and a variant for each payment program. I'm concerned about producing DME and postive pay file at single shot.. or by company code and payment method, if I do this the reviewer have to look at the proposal by payment method
4)I'm unable to run proposal without entering vendor numbers parameters screen AND additional log screen. How can I bypass this and jsut run for all vendor in those comopany codes? I have documen type in free selection. If I don't give vendor number in either of these two places, I will get a message that no accounts have been selected yet.

Some info sources say that a linux app can be provided which will permit the DVC80 to respond to NTSC video camera input.
The DVC80 operates well in windows, permitting capture in Irfanview and a program called Dazzle.
The following data describes a possible application which may be compatible with arch. The interface in video apps, especially from USB, can be daunting. Audio is also provided on NTSC basis for camera input via the DVC80 input connectors(stereo).

INTRODUCTION:
This is a driver for the USB video bridge USBVision from Zoran/Nogatech, a USB-only cable used in many "webcam" devices.

usbvision-0.9.6 is the first prerelease of the 1.0 driver. I did many changes in the code and I hope I
didn't break working features on different devices. The decompression is completed. Just from time to
time there are some black or white error pixels in the image on slower machines. Maybe it is a timing problem
in the isoc interrupt routine. We stay a third of the time in interrupt and so it is likely, that the parser
is called twice. Let me cleanup the routine for performance, move the parser to user-context and add a lock.
For 2.6x kernels we can use the saa7111 from the kernel tree, so the make will not compile the saa7111-new
for these kernels. The bt819-new.c is not coded to 2.6. kernel yet.
I have tested the driver with kernel 2.6.1, 2.6.2 to 2.6.7 with devices "Hauppauge WinTV USB FM 1" and
"Pixelview PlayTV USB Pro FM" on a 600MHz PII system.
WHAT YOU NEED:

When configuring the kernel choose Zoran/Nogatech USBVISION video support as
module. You are going to need also to select i2c and v4l, and if your
device have tuner you need to compile also BT848 support or other modules

Here is the setting to get the TV tuner working with mplayer. It does software video scaling, so you can have full screen mode with the USBVision driver.

If your device isn't known, add it to usbvision_device_data and usbvision_table in usbvision.h.
You can speed up tuner detection, when adding "options tuner addr=your_addr" to /etc/modules.conf.
If your device isn't known, edit line (modprobe usbvision CustomDevice="0x0573 0x4D31 0 7113 3 PAL 1 1 1 5 -1 -1 -1 -1 -1")
in 'usbvision.rc' file then 'usbvision.rc start'
also edit "etc/rc.d/init.d/usbvision" if you use it

As described it is a PAL device. There are options for TV included.
I am interested in single frame capture and video stream capture via the camera input connectors(NTSC-stereo audio). My camera is a PIXERA and has video NTSC output.
The following is reference to the USBVISION tar.gz which seems to require ZORAN in the kernel. It used to be called ZORAN/NOGATECH.
It would seem necessary to enable ZORAN in the latest kernel in order to implement the device. Other requirements are likely as well.
Perhaps a pkg could be built but certainly seems a big challenge!
My DVC80 is recognized in USB.
Hopefully, it can be done in arch!

It worked bad with out of box Windows 7.
But after all updates it works very well and stable.
A nice thing is that it has little USB extender cable included. So it is less harmful for laptop usb port.
