3 or 4 jack cable for Vista with X-Fi Elite

Hello,
I would really appreciate your help with this if you could spare a moment. Before I start, let me just add two things, that I'm visually impaired, and also no electrician or engineer.
I have a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro that I've installed in my new computer running Windows Vista Ultimate. I've connected my Gigaworks S750 7. Speakers to the card, and double-checked all connections.
The only thing I've done on the computer side is to install the latest driver and console launcher from the Creative website, and change the speakers from the 2. that is set in the driver when it's first installed to the 7. which I actually have.
My issue is that I have NO sound from ANY of the speakers, only the subwoofer.
I've seen an article in the Knowledge Base somewhere that mentions changes between Windows XP and Vista with regard to audio. I'm almost certain that I saw for one of those changes that a different cable was needed to connect to the sound card, namely one with 4 jacks rather than the 3 that are on the cable that came with my speakers.
Is this correct, that the extra grey jack is needed for Vista, or is my problem with something else?
Anyone able to offer any suggestions - I'd be most grateful.

I also got the X-fi elite pro, cost me a lot of money. You'd think there will be some good support with that. In XP everything works great but i'd really like to make the step to Vista.
I really don't get how there current top model sound card isn't fully supported by the more and more populair Windows Vista, that's just stupid. Never had any problems with Creative before this, but the last few days have really been an eye-opener. If they don't release some proper drivers soon (or at least say they are working on them) i'll be done with Creative too.

Excuse me if this has been covered before.
I have a time capsule, seems to be working fine. I would like to get a faster internet and am trying to decide between Uverse and comcast Hi speed internet. The cable is not in the same room as my office so am considering, setting up a "modem and router in another room where the cable is and then just using the Time capsule for wireless backups.
If i go with uverse, then i could set up the gateway in my office but may want to use their wireless system over the time capsule system
Is that doable? is one product better for this than another?

Bob, thanks for your prompt and helpful reply. A little more information: We currently have cable internet, with a cable modem supplying internet service to my router. So I want to replace the cable internet source with the Uverse source, and simply plug my router into the RG. Therefore, I want to disable wireless on the RG. My router is a Netgear WN2000 n. Now, to add the second chapter of the story..........
I built our house with a LAN. My router is in the basement, so I don't get good wireless service (except from the neighbors) on the second floor. I want to add something on the LAN that will add to the wireless coverage. Am I looking for a Wireless Access Point? Your reference to "bridge mode" is something I have seen snooping around my local Fry's. If I understand this correctly, I could add a WAP in bridge mode to my existing wireless network, and therefore broaden the coverage.
Do I have this right? If so, how do I configure the WAP? Same SSID? Same channel? Does coverage flow seamlessly from the basement router to the WAP?

Compatibility of graphics driver for vista with xp

I have a HP Pavilion a6320in desktop. It came installed with Vista OS. I have now installed Win XP. Will the graphics driver for Vista: NVIDIA GeForce 6100 nForce 420, 6150 LE, 6150SE nForce 430, 7100/NVIDIA nForce 630i and 8200, also work for Win XP?

Now that is new information that you should have shared earlier with us.
You need to use all of the drivers that are available at the ECS website for the ECS GeForce6100PM-M2 motherboard. Do not use the HP drivers for the replacement motherboard.
FYI ..Once you replace the motherboard with a different brand than delivered your desktop PC ceases to be an HP desktop PC.

Jack cable for headset BH 905i

Does anyone know where to find a replacement cable to connect a headset BH-905i to any jack port (therefore not using Bluetooth)?

Sorry my mistake. It works fine !
Just the way of connection to a new device is not the same, the second time, then the first time. (I don't know why ?)
1) You have to stop connection (witch is normal)
2) Then you have to press for 5 sec the button (when it is green, what means already that it is searching, at least in my mind; since green = searching and blue = connection). But no, the second time fast blue = searching.
That is what I did not get. But it is in the manual, so it is my mistake.
Still Nokia should not change colors. Give one color for connection-search and one when it is connected. And for sure don't change them.
I still really like this headset, and think that Nokia did a great job by making it. I use it a lot. So I am really happy with it.
For now nothing comes close to it. Since it has bluetooth, noise canceling, and a microphone(s).
The sound quality is good too.
Keep producing that kind of headsets. We love it !

Help! connections for the midi and audio cables for use with Apogee & Logic

Newbie to mac! A Basic question, I know.
I have:
Logic express 8
1 x Apogee Duet
1 x Midi in/out interface.
After my external sound module recieves the midi info stored in logic, it creats an audio signal.
QUESTION!
How do I... monitor this output with my audio recoded files in logic. so audio and midi (final mix) is played together, using the Duet?
I understand that a seperate mixer would do the job, i have one, but i need to keep the music making and recoding process as simple as possible, otherwise i get annoyed with lots of settings and things and give up... for another year!
All I wanna do is:
Record one real instrument at a time. these would be Guitar, Bass and Mic. (ok, simple connections with the duet.)
Record midi keyboard messages into logic, edit, quantise etc. rhave logic send the midi info out to my roland xv 5080, and route the audio out of the xv 5080 with the final mix.
(I dont know if this can be done with the Duet??)??
Whilst advoiding the use of a seperate hardwarwe mixer.
would i have been better going for the Ultralite or something?
Any help is much appreciated as i am struggling to get my head round the basics.

I understand that it can be done this way, but i will be continually swapping leads. Yes a mxer wuld solve this, bu would a cheapish mixer effect the sound quality of the duet?
could i use the digital output on roland and send to the imac's digital in? and at the same time record audio in logic. so basically this digital signal will go into imac into logic then be routed straight to the output that the duet is connected to? Would this work, is there a seting in logic where u can have more than 1 input and send this straight to the main outputs??

Do they make an extension cable for use with the otter box

Does anyone know if Apple makes a cable that will extend from a ihome radio to make the iphone fit with the otterbox? i cant use my otterbox case and still use my ihome radio as it does nit fit into the dock. If not Apple or someone should make it. I cant be the only one out there with this issue.

If you updated iPhone to iOS7, it now checks for real Apple Lightning Cable. Your cable may not be Apple, or someone swapped another cable with yours. Make sure the cable end is clean, take a clean dry toothbrush and carefully clean charging port on the iPhone.

I have had my iPod setup on a Mac and now am using a PC with Vista. I installed iTunes 8.x and when I connected my iPod I was informed that it had to be reformatted for use with Windows.
This iPod is packed with music. Is there any way to salvage the content on this iPod?

You might be able to do something with a 3rd-party ipod manager, but I suspect they are also either Mac or Windows-based, as in either/or and not "works with both". Here is a good page to start researching it.

I would steer clear of the free ones. Also, and contact the company who sells whichever one you choose to make sure it can do what you want.
And you could see if any of your friends have a Mac, just to get the music files off the iPod and then put back on after you've Windows-formatted it.

There are only two types of HDMI cables (standard and high speed - listen to all 1.2, 1.3 etc etc nonsense they will try to tell in the store) both types will work with the Apple TV.
The cable may be faulty though, have you got another to try, what exactly is happening.

Apple certified cable for AV RCA out and USB sync with BMW car's COMBOX

My recently purchased Apple certified cable for AV RCA out and USB sync works very well with the PC and TV. I bought it to connect to my BMW car's COMBOX interface which is designed to connect to Apple products.
It doesn't even power up and BMW fails to recognize iPod, same combox works well with the original usb sync cable which came with the iPod but that doesn't have AV out so can't play music and video to the head unit. I think this could be due to low power coming from the car's USB, am I right to think this? If yes what options have I got to fix this? Can I supply additional power to iPod?

I'm afraid that's to be expected in most cases, you need to turn your TV speakers off.
