Here is what i want to achieve. I want to create an Adobe form in my DM instance (webdynpro or java). I still have some old application that are not on the SAP platform but those applications could use the same adobe Form. So instead of maintaining Adobe form for DM and another for my non-sap application, i would like send the data from that non-sap application to the forms that is in my DM sap instance, is it possible.

Troubles with third-party software: Mozilla and Microsoft

Can anybody help me?
I'm new to Macs. Loving it so far (why didn't I switch years ago?), but I am having a few teething difficulties. Namely, with some interaction between Mozilla Firefox for Mac and MS Word for Mac. Whenever I copy text from Firefox and paste it into Word, it's automatically stripped of all formatting - italics, bold, font, paragraph styles, the lot.
I copy-and-paste text from Firefox a lot, and need to keep the source formatting when I do so. Can anyone tell me how? Please?

I was hoping somebody here would know something about Firefox for Mac...I didn't have this problem when I was using Firefox on a PC.
And, yes, as far as I can tell this problem doesn't occur with Safari. But I like Firefox. It's got features I admire and all my bookmarks, too. So I don't really want to have to switch to Safari. There must be some way around my problem, surely.
Mac Phone Support have already told me they can't help, though, since this is all third-party software. They directed me here.

Auditing direct database access

I'm a database security engineer and quite unfamiliar with SAP.
From the viewpoint of SOX/IT control, I just wonder if there is any necessity to audit Oracle database using Oracle's auditing features (audit_trail=db/os).
Privileged Oracle users can login to the database bypassing SAP application. In addition, they may be able to change any financial data by executing DML commands directly.
Is such scenario realistic?
I'd like your opinions.

in my opinion all that Auditing is only interesting to watch your Administrators hands...
What do you need to access the oracle database?
- client-software ... at least a jdbc driver
(May be available on many computers)
- the hostname, the listener port, a network connection that works and the DB SID
(that should not be so easy... DB Server should be in a seperate network zone... at best only reachable via the Application Servers)
- OR: physical access to the database
(if that is possible... don't think of auditing anymore... there is no security then)
- a valid user account that has access to the SAP<sid> schema
(Ok, that should only be the SYSDBA/SYSTEM account, nothing else. Access to these accounts has to be highly secured. Not so much technically but much more on the "human side". It just has to be a real secret. Period.)
- you've to know at least a bit about the datamodel of SAP databases. Not that easy in a system with more than 40000 tables...
Really problematic (in my opinion) are the approaches to "connect" the SAP database to the other systems in the company. People make up export and import interfaces (sometimes also direct table access) on database level.
Let's face it: businesswise security is gone in these cases.
SAP systems rely on the access "from above", that is through the interfaces and APIs.
Direct database access is like taking money out of the banks safe instead of withdraw it.
To come back to your question: if you want to check the dba actions, yes auditing is a nice thing. But it is just a way to proof later on who did something wrong. It's a finger pointing tool.
I would put more effort in trying to avoid such things from happening - limit the access to the database. Double check changes to the database - via procedures (e.g. no interactive sqlplus access to the productive database) and 4 eyes checks.

Sap integration with third party software

hey all,
we are actually trying to integrate sap with EAI( IBM WEBSPERE third party software) and here date needs to flow from EAI - SAP.
and we have done that through BAPI and in the EAI we got a message saying that the data base has been created but infact when i am trying to check the same in my sap screen am not able to find it i have also checked the database table but its not available .
do anyone has any idea as to where do we exactly go and search for a particular data once its transferred from a third party software????
any help is highly appreciated

COMMIT WORK is necessary after most BAPIs. What you describe is usually a result of calling BAPI without COMMIT WORK. The message tells you that document was created, but when you look into database, the document is not there.
I'm not sure how to resolve this in case of the 3rd party software though. Maybe instead of just using a plain BAPI you will need to write a custom function module, which will capp BAPI and do COMMIT.

SAP compatible third party software for fingerprint verification

Hi all,
I need some technical advice.
Has anyone implemented fingerprint verification into SAP before?
This is my scenaro:
When a PR document is created, a custom workflow is triggered.
This custom workflow will send the work item to the approver's SAP inbox for approval.
When the approver approves the PR in the SAP inbox, there needs to be a popup/software window to obtain the approver's fingerprint and verify it against the fingerprint stored in it's database.
Is there any 3rd party software out there with the above mentioned capability which can interface/communicate with SAP?

Integration between third party software and SAP

I have requirement in which i have to integrate SAP with third party software. My third party software will be generating material no as we generate in SAP then after the generation of the Material No by the third party software again i have to pull the material no generated and corresponding information into SAP .Please tell me how to do this as i am new to these concepts and if possible please send links from where i can download study materials.

There are many approches for solving this integration issue:
But before solving this issue there are few questions which need to be known:
1. In what form the material no list is generated? i.e. some flat file, in database table, or shared memory
2. What is the language for 3rd party software? C, Java, .Net etc
3. What is the frequency of material number generation? i.e. is it on demand, batch processing etc
Considering 3rd party software is generating flat file or csv files for material number we can have this integration in
following way:
1. Save file at particular location.
2. You can configure logical path in FILE transaction
3. Write ABAP report to read that file using logical path and file name.

    In this step you need to loop at internal table and fill data variables in BDC recording with the internal table data
    and call the transaction MM01 for creating material.
Above steps are very high level guidelines and it is one way of integration but concept wise more or less integration will be in same way!
You can definetly fine tune it by exploring SAP help!

Direct database data access without data level authorization check

My customer raised issue about direct database data access. Due to the customeru2019s strong security policy, it shouldnu2019t be allowed.
To prevent this kind of illegal data access, customer ask me to list up all the possibilities to display data without data level authorization check.
The things in my mind are
SQL Command Editor (for Oracle based system) : ORASPACE, DB02, ST04
Query Based : SQVI (Quick Viewer), SQ01/SQ02/SQ03 (SAP Query)
Data Browser : SE11, SE12, SE16, SE16N, SE17
Table Maintenance : SM30
Function Module : RFC_READ_TABLE
Function Module : DB_EXECUTE_SQL (DML)
Anyone knows anything which is not listed above?

Link between 3rd party software and SAP

Our company uses a 3rd party software for its payroll processing. At the end of every 2 weeks, we receive an Excel file that the clerk sorts and uploads into SAP using LSMW.
The Director of Finance thinks that this process can be achieved much quicker/faster/more efficiently, and he wanted to know if we can directly establish a link between the 3rd party payroll software and SAP.
Any thoughts on how this can be established? Do I have to write a BAPI functional specification for this and work with the ABAP team?

Ex:
1 - Create Landing Table in R/3
2 - Pull Data from Leagacy to SAP Landing Table
3 - From Landing Table you can post to SAP

Database privileges for integration between EBS and Third Party software

Hi,
We have engaged a third party invoice scanning software vendor that wants to install database components on our existing EBS database.
We run Oracle EBS 11.5.10.2 on a 10g database. The third party software vendor wants privileges like select, update, insert, delete on Oracle EBS tables like ap_invoices_all, po_distributions_all, gl_code_combinations, and all important workflow tables.
The third party software vendor says the privileges are needed for their APIs and I have refused to grant the privileges. My employer now wants me to justify my refusal.
Does anyone know if Oracle have documents that say that direct updates on Oracle EBS Application tables is not acceptable? The manuals have the “Do Not Use Database Tools to Modify Oracle Applications Data” section but is there anything else?

First configure the same via the following menu path:
1.) IMG>Financial accounting>Financial accounting global settings>Taxes on sales/purchases>Basic settings>External tax calculation>Define physical destination
2.) Then test connection (option is available there).
3.) If the connection is successful, also verify that the external tax package installed supports the R/3 4.6 version of the API. You do that by going to:
System Information>Function List
Check if the following functions are listed:
RFC_CALCULATE_TAXES_DOC
RFC_UPDATE_TAXES_DOC
RFC_FORCE_TAXES_DOC
RFC_DETERMINE_JURISDICTION
4.) Then test the tax data retrieval:
From SE37, select the relevant function modules like RFC_DETERMINE_JURISDICTION.
The above 4 steps are necessary to satisfy that the RFC connection is established

Logical database vs direct access of database table

I have created a FI report. I am trying to get data from large FI tables like BSAK, BSEG, BKPF, RSEG. eventhough there are 10 records as per my criteria, system is taking morethan an hour time even in background processing. This may be becaz of lot of conditions that I am applying to filter the data. But still trying to improve the performance
For fetching data which is the better way for getting optimum performance of the report.
a) directly fetching data from database tables
b) using logical database collecting data into an itab

Hi,
If you are accessing the database tables more than once with different criteria then definetly it will take more time. In such case write only one Select statement on the table and get all the required data into an internal table and then process this internal table as per your logic.
Use of LDBs is definetly faster but filter conditions might not match with your filter conditions. In such case direct access of database table is preferable but as i said in above paragraph.

How do i filter on the report that is created by using DIRECT DATABASE ACCESS in obiee 10g?
I have reprot A with link to report B, report B is created using DIRECT DATABASE ACCESS. so it is just a table, but i need to filter out 2 columns.
here is the query in REPORT B:
select strm, acad_group, crse_id, class_section, count(emplid) from v_crse_enrl
group by crse_id, strm, class_section, acad_group;

I didnt tested using url, but the same works with using presentation variables.
To your direct sql add where clause for those two columns like WHERE col='@{col1}' and col ='@{col2}'
and try to run from url.

Migration of Documents from 3rd party software to SAP DMS

Dear Experts,
We have implemented SAP DMS . Prior to DMS we were using Third party software for creating and storing the documents.
There are abot 3000 documents in the third party software, now the challege is how we must have to migrate the DATA from 3rd party software to SAP DMS with creating Dirs. Are there any upload programmes suffice the requirement or any development needs to be done or any possibilities.
Kindly help me out in the above scenario.

SAP HR integration with Third Party Software - PAYCARE

Dear Experts/Gurus,
I am facing the following problem with my client.
Here the client is using Third Party Software "Paycare" for their Payroll
calculation.
Now the problem is that they are giving Incentive Wages one is based on
Target & another one is based on Attendance. Overtime Calculation (OT) is
also given to all the employees.
Incentive Wages calculation is given below:
Eg: PU Machine (12 hrs)
Operator - Rs. 40
Worker - Rs. 30
Helper - Rs. 20
Side Pating - Rs. 20
All the above on DAILY BASIS
Clicking:
Operators - Rs. 300 & Rs. 350
Helpers - Rs. 200
Printing & Embossing:
Workers - Rs. 250
Packing - Rs. 200
Ladies - Rs. 150
All the above on MONTHLY BASIS
Overtime Calculation (OT): OT is given the double once after exceeds the
normal working of 8 hours. Basis for OT Calculation is (Basic Pay +
Dearness Allowance + Special Allowance).
Now the major problem is that the client wants Payroll calculation
whatever happens in Paycare to be captured & calculated in SAP HR & posted
to their respective SAP FICO accounts. They don't want in report wise but
actual calculation to be done in SAP HR.
Is it possible to do this without Payroll implementation in SAP HR because
whenever money part is involved respective Wagetypes has to be configured
in the Payroll.
Please let me know is it possible or not ASAP.

A) But what about the inputs ?? How are you planning to map employees workin on Machines ??
What other modules ur client has implemented
As your client is expecting the calculations in SAP, so they should have Time, PP, MM, etc....
Then SAP will have base inputs.
But Calculation of INcentive will again a development.

A) Your second point is contrary to 1st !! without SAP HR - Payroll???
What exactly u want to say, without SAP HR Payroll, you want to intrate with FICO ???
