3 problems with N95

1 cant get my yahoo gmail or hotmail accounts setup i do believe i have the correct settings but i just cant see to connect(this is via the message application screen) any one knows how to connect?
2 gps the N95 just doesnt pick up my satellite position even with coverage it still shows my position as being at home any way to get this running correctly?
3 cant seem to get my internet telephone working all the sip settings are correct to my knowledge ive registered with gizmo setup an account but my home wlan just wont connect no matter what i do anyone with any success with this can you allow me to know how to get it working

I suspect that the problem in vehicles is ensuring the GPS receiver has a good enough view of the sky. My Bluetooth GPS receiver has to be right at the front of the dash so that it only has glass above it.
To give the N95's receiver a similar view, I guess you'd have to have it in a holder that fixes to the windscreen - and does not cover the reception parts. I'm assuming those reception parts are on the back of the phone, otherwise you're never going to see the screen
I have my N80 in one of those holders that fits the air vent: clearly if I had an N95 on one of those, its GPS would have no chance.Message Edited by patc on 19-Apr-200711:03 AM

  • Problem with N95 8Gb Gallery

I have a quite annoying problem with my N95 8Gb Gallery.
Since last week, when I open the gallery it appears a lot of system files that shouldn't be there instead of only showing my videos and photos. It makes the phone a lot slower and it crashes. It takes a lot of time to select any file.
Is it some kind of system trouble or have I messed up with something i shouldnt?
Thanks for the help and sorry about the writing mistakes

    yes it is very odd!
Well I have tried to just loads 2 images from the laptop onto my mobile. I have tried doing a direct file transfer (mass media) and then also tried through Nokia PC suite-uploaded via the CD rom I was given. On both occasions this has been uncessful to view images from the gallery menu on the phone..crashes!
I think the photos are actually on the phone under the file manager folder I can find them stored here. However on opening the gallery to try and view these files, the phone freezes and I am unable to exit the menu -using the 'back' button have to press the red phone cancel button. Once out of the gallery folder and back to the main screen I can then no longer access and shortcut menus for about 3mins. Very frustrating. The most recent phone I have now, I got 2 days ago-I've not even plugged into my laptop, and when asking a friend to send me images via bluetooth I cannot open this either!! (it comes as a text format from bluetooth) and on opening the phone just freezes again. I try to save this when asked to mass memory and not phone memory.
I can take images on my 'phone camera' but again cannot view as unable to access the gallery-constantly freezes the phone. The images are not a large file just jpeg format for example 45KB another one I tried was much larger 1MB...
I still don't understand why this is happening all the time!!! Many thanks for your help.... (Orange are going to send me a new sim card to try) and see if this helps.

  • Problems with N95 and Co-pilot 7

I have an N95 and have installed co-pilot 7 onto it and have purchased traffic updates.
The traffic update has installed but I cannot get it to work on my phone-I am with Virgin pay as you go and was originally told that the software wouldn't work unless a number of ports were opened (In order to make Traffic work for you, you need to ask Virgin to open
up the following ports up: Port 80 and 9880) but Virgin do not have access to these ports-when i mentioned this I was told that something else was wrong but haven't been given any helpful advice-I was asked to re-format and re-install card which I have done.
I was wondering if anyone else had problems and if so how they resolved them-(especially if you are a Virgin Pay as you go customer!!!)
    Thanks Steve

Sorry you are having problems with Co-pilot 7. As you are on Virgin Media Pay as you go, have you got Internet enabled on your account, and do you have efficient funds on your account to access Virgin online?
If you do have what's above, then it's seems like problems lies with access points via Connections settings. I don't believe Ports are the problems, but sadly, I can't help you much as I never had Virgin Media Simcard.
Besides, I'm also interested in purchasing Co-pilot 7 for my N95. May I ask you where you purchased yours from?

  • Problem with N95 Desktop after upgrade to 20.0.015

    Hello,
I upgraded my phone's firmware to version 20.0.015 this morning. Before starting the update, I had backed up the phone's memory to my memory card. When the update was finished, everything worked fine until I decided to restore everything from backup, to ensure that I hadn't lost any of my settings/contacts/messages/etc. Ever since I did that, I have been having trouble with my phone's desktop. All of the things that are supposed to appear at the top are gone! ...there's no clock, no operator, no meter for the battery or signal! All I get where they used to be is a thick white/blank bar. So there's my wallpaper and a big white empty bar on top!
I have tried different skins, wallpapers, etc but they won't help. I have also tried going to "Settings> General> Personalisation> Standby Mode", but the option "Active standby apps." is missing... The only two options are "Active standby" (which does nothing -- throws me back to the desktop/standby) and "Shortcuts" (which is used to define the left and right selection keys)... so there's nothing I can do through the "Standby Mode" settings either! I have even tried reverting to "Factory settings", which again didn't fix the problem (though I have to say that when the phone restarted, I did see the things that go on top for a split second).
Does anyone have any idea on what I should do to fix this problem? I am starting to lose hope...

Well, there's a work-around but you'll need to spend some time. To get all your data from the Memory card:
    - Restore the phone from the Memory card (might break it, though)
    - Use PC Suite to make a partial backup (Contacts, Notes, Calendar, Messages but NO phone-settings)
    - Reset the phone to get rid of the broken top-bar
    - Use PC Suite to restore the Contacts, Notes, etc.
This solution will take some time and it is possible that you cannot backup from the broken phone and/or restore to the newer firmware, but if you have no other options to get all your contacts back, then it might be worth a try.
Also note that messing with phone memory might corrupt the phone...

  • Two problems with N95.

Hi, Ive got two problems I need help with.
Ive been using an N95 for almost a year until I recently lost it. So I called up my network provider and they sent me a new one (covered by my insurance) but for some reason the signal strength is very weak and even when Im in my own home, the phone struggles to make a call and disconnects when I do get through. My last N95 signal was perfect and never had this problem even in the same location.
Also, my second problem is that when I turn the phone off or let the battery run out, when I turn it back on I have to re-enter the date & time.
Is there a solution to these problems as I cant be doing with sending it away again as I need the phone for work.
The only thing I did after opening the box was upgrade the firmware. Ive re-installed the firmware and it doesnt solve anything.

It sounds like they have sent you a reconditioned model that hasn't been correctly repaired.
You should take the issue up with the insurer.
If for some reason they refuse to help then you should take it to a nokia care point for repair.

  • Problems with N95-1 Memory while using Web? Try Op...

    Guys,
I just wanted to let you know that the new Opera Mini is absolutely, bar none, completely fantastic. I'm not sure how much memory it uses, but so far I've had no problems playing Mp3s, running my Gmail client, and using Opera all at the same time!
Not only that, but it renders web pages much better and quicker than the application built into the N95. I have replaced Web as my browser and am now using Opera Mini 4.0... If you haven't tried it, download it now on your N95. It is truly fantastic. I don't miss not being able to quickly go back without reloading the whole page, and the way it presents the entire page as a thumbnail with the ability to zoom in and out VERY QUICKLY on certain parts of the page make it as sharp as the Iphone browser.
The ONLY limitation is that you can't download files using it. This is when you'll have to open the link in WEB.. but whatever.
If you haven't already, give it a shot. This is pretty new software, and works wonderfully on the N95.
    http://www.operamini.com/

I find opera mini really slow. It takes ages to open pages even on the wifi. How is yours? Is it fast at opening pages?
Its not who i am underneath. But what i do that defines me.

  • Problems with N95

I brought an N95 less than 30 days ago and it has given me nothing but problems since.
The battery only lasts one day.
Randomly shuts down and starts up again.
    Will not send MMS
Keeps charging over night and is not fully charged the next morning
loses reception for hours at a time.
I have been told that its nokia's policy to replace it if under 30 day. but i keep getting the run around by the nokis and the dealer that i brought it from dont want anything to do with the matter.
I am just wondering if anyone else has had problems.

Sounds like a visit to a Nokia service centre might be the way forward in that case.
You may just need a firmware update and possibly a new battery - but the N95 has a 2 year warranty from new so you should be ok. I would take it to a NSC and get it assessed by them for starters.
    s.
Gosh!.... You are such a lucky person. "2 years warranty". In asia we only get 1 year warranty and even thats not proper!
But Mine is Working Fine, Only failed on battery once when i overcharged it.. but rest is okay.
Mind you that Discoloured pixel appeared after firmware upgrade(dont know why?) CAn any one tell?Message Edited by sailare on 09-Nov-200711:33 AM

  • Various Problems With N95 - Please Help!!

Ok well I opened a new contract on the 2nd of June with Orange and got a Nokia N95.
Since the 2nd of June, I have had a total of 5 different N95's because of all the problems I am having. Got the current one last sunday and these are the problems so far:-
    - Phone randomly turns off (only once or twice so far)
    - Take about 2 hours to send a text, or is says "unable to send text message")
    - My reception is full, then will automaticaly drop to zero bars
    - People try and ring me, it goes straight to my answer phone and then i get a text saying I have a missed call (happened twice)
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? This is driving me crazy.
I love the phone, but this is not what should be happening.
Like I said, this is now the fifth Nokia N95 I have had!
I'm not sure how I check which software I have, so if someone tells me where to look I will be able to tell you.
    Please help!
    Many thanks, Holly x

    Be patient calm down
Like I said the updates are on MODEL NUMBER
the Orange version will be a few weeks behind because they test every thing them selves They are paranoid about phones that run on their network In the good old days they had to aprove every phone on their network so if you had a sim free you had to ask them if you could use it Thay dont do that now but all the phones they sell for their network are supposed to be full tested to be working OK Thats why not all models and phones are not on Orange
They dont seem so much bothered if the phone crashes but they dont want you to crash the network lol
As soon as they have fully tested V12 it will be released for the updtae Orange have one or two mods to the basic software IE there own themes, screen savers, orange world, and the omission of voip. They also have ALS (line 2)
I use Orange but since the early probs I manged to get the unbranded sim free for Orange. On my one ALS (line2 2 lines 2 numbers 1 sim card Business and personal) is working OK so there are only the screen savers and Orange world they need to test fully All I can say is just wait
A service centre may get the update earlier or try looking in Orange shops at their current stock press *#0000# on their newer stock to see if they get V12 then the service centre will have it for repairing those ones and it will soon be on the update site
Nokia user / modder since Nokia Orange and Mobira user too before that

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi, thanks...using pcsuite installer and http://europe.nokia.com/A41107005, I installed Nokia Internet Radio Ver 1.02 and it works.
Previously I downloaded Nokia Internet Radio by using the App Manager on the phone. The first item in the App Manager is called 'Download Apps'. When you open it, it has 1 item called 'Nokia.com'. If you click on that it takes you to a Nokia site with 4 pages of apps. Nokia Internet Radio is on page 3. When you install it, it installs version 1.00. I did this several times and I'm fairly sure it said 1.00. This installed fine, but obviously didn't work and had the problem where the app closed when navigating the menus.
I also managed to install the same version 1.00 by using the google web browser on the phone to search for 'nokia internet radio'. The first couple of results, one from a symbian blog and another couple that directly went to Nokia pages also ended up at what I guess is the version 1.00 download.
To make it work, I opened the link you gave me, http://europe.nokia.com/A41107005, on my laptop, connected my phone and used the pcsuite installer. It downloaded ver 1.02 and works perfectly, J

  • Problems with N95 and WiFi via ICS Windows XP Sp2

Hello, I have a Nokia N95 and I'm having trouble browsing the internet on my phone via WIFI. I'm using windows XP sp2. I have a working internet connection via my ethernetcard on my laptop. And I have enabled ICS (internet connections sharing on this interface). Then I also have a wireless network card and I have setup a wireless network. I know this wireless network works as I'm able to browse the internet via another laptop via the wireless network and the ICS. I'm able to connect with my N95 to the wireless network but the web browsing does not work on the N95. I know I'm receiving an IP address for the phone via DHCP of the ICS as I can see the ip and mac address in the arp table of the laptop. I can also ping the ip address of the N95. Anyone any suggestions? Or is the N95 not compatible with ICS?
    Thanks in advance.

Upgrade to XP SP3 then check this:
    Windows XP SP3 Bug
Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) introduces a bug in ICS that requires restarting the ICS Windows service after several events, including disconnecting the network cable from the ICS machine.
In Microsoft support article KB951446, the process of restarting the ICS service is explained, but there is no mention of a plan to fix this bug in the future[1].
In later Microsoft support article KB951830, more details and a hotfix (Update for Windows XP (KB951830)) are given.[2][3] This hotfix is not currently being distributed via Windows Update, and so it must be manually installed.
It works. XP SP 2 has the same problem.

  • Problem with n95 pc suite music manager

when i load up pc suite and click on music manager to transfer music files from my pc to my phone it shows up for about 10 secs and automatically closes by itself, every other one is fine except install applications which does the same thing but i can update my contacts, view images, messages and the lot apart from music manager and applications, so basically i cant transfer any music on to my phone now plus i even tried uninstalling the old version and installing the updated version of pc suite but its still same thing.

if you use file transfer...it should be on your memory card where the files should be save...and if you are using n95 8GB...you can then try to move the files from memory to your phone's internal memory...but i think..music player is smart enough to display all the music files transferred to your mobile...not unless file is not supported...that's the case with my n73ME..all music file i transferred can all be seen in the music player..i suggest you just refresh library...or move the files to folder where other music files visible in the music library...good luck
some aint missing a good thing til its gone...

  • Nokia Maploader problem with N95

No i do not have a connectivity error with Maploader.
I cannot start the program at all. After installing. I click on the program then I see a splashscreen. And under the splashscreen I see a message saying That maploader is a program to transfer maps on your Nokia. Fine till then.
When I click OK I get a message Maploader doesn't work anymore: It has never worked!! And the program disappears
I tried both versions Smart2go and Nokia (both are the same)
I have Vista, I also did a reboot after install---> No Go
I tried WinXp SP2 compatibility---> nope not working.
I already opened Maps several times on the N95
don't really know what to do now.

Map Loader often fails for unknown reasons.
If you can put your memory card into a card reader, you can use AvMapsLoader by Andreas Vogel.
    - program: http://sites.google.com/site/avesomega/AvMapsLoader
    - review: http://symbianism.blogspot.com/2009/02/nokia-map-loader-alternative.html
If that doesn't work for you, just download the maps with your web browser and extract them to the map folder on your phone:
    - Nokia Map Loader Alternative: http://nokiamaps.site666.info
If your phone can go online by WiFi or if you have unmetered mobile internet you don't even need a computer to preload maps on your phone.
Of course you can also keep troubleshooting Nokia's own map loader until it works, but that can take such a long time that the alternatives are often faster and easier.
With WiFi and fast mobile internet all over the place Nokia should code a lightweight map loader for Symbian. There's no reason for not doing so, because downloading and unzipping map files really doesn't need hundreds of megabytes worth of Map Loader, PC suite, and .net framework. It doesn't need to take much more than a web browser (already present in Symbian), a zip program (already present in new versions of Nokia's firmware), and some code to make 'em work together.
