3 questions: Shake 2 shuffle; keyboard "response" feature & cross fade????

Is there something I need to do to make the keyboard typing "response" feature activate when I'm typing? I was under the impression that you're supposed to be able to feel something when you're typing. Also, is there something I need to do to make the shuffle feature work when I shake the touch? Nothing seems to happen when I shake it and I can't see what I need to adjust in the setting to make this work. Lastly, how can I set the cross fade feature this new model is supposed to have? Thanks guys!

Cross fade is not the same as gapless...there was always a feature in itunes where you could have the end of the song that was playing slowly decrease in volume and it would "blend" into the next upcoming song whose volume was slowly increasing. They would "fade" into each other. I loved that feature in iTunes, but it wasn't available on my Nano. Now I understand that this feature is available, but I find it hard to beleive they would put it into the Nano and not the touch.
Ah, I got your point! Well, this option is not available on the iPod Touch, nor I'm sure it's also available for the iPod Nano. Who told you that?

I have the latest version on the touch software (I just go the new touch yes-terday). Supposedly whenm you type, you're supposed to be able to "feel" the keyboard resonate under your fingers when you touch the keys. This is not occuring, though and I'm wondering if it's a feature I need to turn on.
Ah, first I thought you were talking about having difficulties to something using the iPod's keyboard!
Now, I understand you're talking about the "Keyboard Clicks", which for at least on iPhone can be activated/de-activated. I don't have the iPod Touch anymore, but search on Settings for a Sound category!

  • Shuffle with cross-fade on 3rd Gen Shuffle - does anyone know?

    Hi everyone!
One of the features I use at home with iTunes a lot is the cross-fade playback option. I noticed that the new Nano offers this capability, too.
Does anyone know if it's an option on the new shuffle, or if it cross-fades between tracks by default?
    Thanks!

Well, I've found out the answer to my own question!
In case anyone was wondering: no, it doesn't do crossfades between tracks, but it does support gapless playback, so if that's how your tracks are set up, you will get a very continuous sounding playback between tracks anyway.
    There we have it!

  • Can;t get the 'Shake to Shuffle' feature to work

I bought a new 16gig blue ipod nano yesterday and its all going good except for two things.
Firstly- I cant get the 'Shake to Shuffle' feature to work. I will shake my ipod around like mad when im in shuffle mode but nothing happens!
and Secondly- I cant get the genius to work on my ipod. When im playing a song I hold down the middle button and 'Add to On The Go, Browse Album, Browse Artist and Cancel' all come up but no genius! I do not have an itunes account because I do not have a Credit Card so i cant work it on my itunes either- is that why it wont work on my ipod?
If some would could please help me out it would be much appreciated.
    Thankyou.

    1) Make sure Shake-to-shuffle is turned on in the Settings option of the iPod.
    2) Genius won't work if you haven't activated it in iTunes. You don't have to give a credit card to get an account, a debit will do just fine.
In any case, here's a link to create an account without providing bank card details:

  • Shake to Shuffle question

Is it just me, or does the shake to shuffle only work when your phone is not locked? When I'm driving or even sitting at my desk, I would love to be able to just pick the phone up and shake it rather than having to unlock the thing to go to another song.
My phone locks after 1 minute to save power.
    Ouch

I think a lot of people are looking to use shake to shuffle to go to another track without having to be in iPod mode with the screen unlocked. The problem with using shake to shuffle for this is that once you have the iPod controls up, you might as well hit next.
And, it would not be the end of the world to have shake to shuffle work while locked, because you can disable the feature while running.
I think the purpose of this feature is not the above though - the purpose I believe is to be able to shuffle while in a mode that is not shuffling songs (i.e. going in order). This is indeed how it works - the problem here is that it only shuffles within the current album you are on!!! If could quickly skip you to a new album or artist, it might be somewhat handy. This function is pretty close to worthless as I understand it.
I feel the same way as many other posters - I want the ability to switch songs easily without having to push buttons or even take it out of my pocket - Apple needs to come up with something similar to change tracks while locked.

  • Shake to shuffle doesn't work within Playlists

I have just bought the new 8gb Nano, and i love it. But one thing is driving me mad. When i am playing songs within a playlist and then shake to shuffle, it goes back to my entire library of songs.
    My questions are therefore:
Why doesn't it shuffle the playlist, when i shake?
    Is this a bug?
Do Apple intend to do anything about this?

  • TP Yoga 15 - Windows: Keyboard response too slow after coming back from hibernation

I've got the same issue as outlined in this thread for a Y50 - there seems to be a BIOS update to solve it, but what about TP Yoga 15? Quote:Simply put, In keyboard properties , the Repeat delay is default at maximum (eg, holding down a keyboard button and how fast it generates the key strokes). When the system is put in hiberanation, then turned on again to come back, the Repeat delay some how gets decreased to about 2/3 of what it originally is. https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Re-Y50-Windows-8-Keyboard-response-too-slow-after-coming-back/td-p/1676309/page/1

    hi guys,
Can you please provide also these additional information:
(this is to check if the issue is isolated to a certain model number)
    Model Number (eg. 59-xxxxxx):
Place of Purchase (eg. Amazon, Bestbuy, etc.):
In addition, the solution from this thread seems to be a good workaround (the app is for Win7 but may also work for Win8.1)

  • Shake to Shuffle - trick to it?

    Hi,
I've got the screen active (bright), shuffle turned on in settings... and no matter how i shake the iPod I can't get the shuffle feature to work when listening to music.
Is there a trick to it?
    Cheers,
    Lennie.

    Hello Lennie00,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you sure you didn't just enable the regular Shuffle option instead of the *Shake to Shuffle* ?
On the Home screen, tap Settings, tap Music, and then tap On next to “Shake to Shuffle.” Otherwise, I would try a quick reset of the iPod. To do this, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for about 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.

  • Shake and shuffle not working (nano 5th gen)?

    Hi all,
First time to forum and first Ipod. My shake and shuffle works perfectly for the first few minutes after pushing a button then it wouldn't work again until I've push a button again (the nano seems to go into sleep mode even though music is playing). I've checked all my settings and even tried it with the power management off. Is this normal? If I have to push a button I might as well push the skip button. Its not making sense to me. BTW I did reboot the ipod.
    Thanks
    Paul

I upgraded yesterday and Shake to Shuffle isn't even in my settings let alone works. Does anybody know anything about this? The rest of the upgrade with the exception of the Copy and Paste feature are working exactly as they should.

  • Does my Macbook have "Shake to Shuffle" on?!

Hello Mac fam! So I've noticed something weird, every time I'm listening to a song or watching a video and I lift up my macbook and move it, It either changes songs or pauses the video I'm watching.
I know on my iPhone and iPod theres a setting for " Shake to Shuffle" where it changes the song by simply shaking the phone. I was wondering if my Macbook Pro 15 Retina 2014 has this feature turned on somehow. How do I turn it off?

As there is no longer a need to have a Mac/PC to use a ios device I dont believe there is a requirement for your MacBook to be powered on if you are backing up your iphone/ipad to iCloud.

  • Turn off 'shake to shuffle' on nano 6g?

  • Shake to shuffle within a playlist?

Hey i am wondering if anybody knows if it it possible to use the shake feature to shuffle to a different song in the current play list I am playing instead of the entire library of music on my Ipod?
    Thanks for the help!

Well, I'm pretty sure you can't Shake to shuffle within a playlist, but you can go to settings, then click shuffle (until it says: Shuffle Songs) then you play the first song in your playlist and it shuffles the rest of your songs. Sorry if thats not what your looking for. Hope it helps if it is though.

  • Shake to Shuffle problem

Tried researching this online and couldn't find anything.
I have my iPhone set on "shake to shuffle"... and when I shake it, it plays the shuffle sound, and then repeats it, and shuts the iPod off on my phone and stops playing music.
Anyone know of a way to remedy this? Thanks

Well, the problem went away for a while.... now it's back.
I shake to shuffle to another song.... it shuffles, makes the shuffle sound twice, then exits to the home screen.
I've rebooted. I've restored. I've reset settings and still nothing.
It's getting to the point where I'd rather go back to my blackberry....Almost 2 months have past and no responses.
    Frustrated..... still.

  • Shake to shuffle not working

i just got my ipod in the mail today, and i love it. but the shake to shuffle feature doesnt work. im going to have to go to the apple store, but the hold button is not on and the setting is not disabled - i checked the website and thats all it says. help anyone?

I decided to download the manual and this is what it says:
Shaking is also disabled when the Hold switch is in the HOLD position, or if the display
is off. If iPod nano is off, you can’t turn it on by shaking it.
The Remedy might be to disable energy saver mode.
The correct implementation to this should be that in energy save mode, while playing music, the nano can be shaken to shuffle the song, leaving the screen on, without a button press.
This would help to increase battery life while changing songs unless you want the screen to come on while shaking(another available option which could be under an energy save sub menu). Just a suggestion to apple.

  • Shake to Shuffle - no sensitivity setting?

My wife is an avid walker and iPhone addict. So she was a little disappointing when we had to turn off the shake to shuffle option because it keeps changing songs when walking.
I looked, but didn't see a sensitivity setting, so is it safe to assume there is none? If not, this would be a nice feature to incorporate.
    Thanks,
    Brad

    There is not.

  • Shake to Shuffle? Shouldn't we get it also?

I was a little annoyed when I updated to the 2.1 OS, and there was no Shake to Shuffle. I think we should have it just as much as nano people. The iPhone is kinda the top of the line iPod...

The only issue I could think of with that is that we don't have a hold switch (for runners and whatnot.) Of course, it could be made a toggle on-off feature, I suppose. Hmm, maybe in the future, we get updates pretty quickly anyway so if it does come, you shouldn't be waiting too long :P
