3 way calling sound like underwater

I have an office with a 2811 voice gateway and 2960 switch and 5 7942 IP Phones. When the manager is on a 3 way conference call which he originates from his IP phone the callers on the remote end say he sounds like he is under water. They have a full T1 with QoS. The T1 never gets over 60% utilization and there are no errors on the T1.

The issue surfaces when anybody else in the office makes a call from their IP phones while the managers conference call is in place. Then the outside clients will notice that the manager sounds like he is talking under water.
Well now this is a QoS problem. Look at your policy-map; packets are likely being dropped from the LLQ. Remember that the LLQ is policed at the rate specified. It appears you only have enough bandwidth to support three calls; or, the conference call (which is sourced from a different IP than the phone) is not getting placed into the LLQ class.
Be careful to know which codec the calls are at when doing your math. For example, if you have four G.711/722 with 20msec sampling would require at least 352kbps at layer two (assuming MLPPP and RTCP). You can use http://www.bandcalc.com/ to take some of the guess work out of this.
You may want to include the sccp local Loopback0 command to ensure you know which interface confernce calls will be sourced from.

  • Sounds like underwater!

I have an iphone 3GS and have downloaded Iphone 4 software as soon as it was released. A few months ago I started getting this sound, like being underwater, when dialling out and receiving calls. Does not happen all the time but enough to make it annoying. I have Googled and see other people have same trouble - but no cure - Please help. Paul Australia

I have the same problem with all of my voice mails. Voicemails are left from cell phones and land lines. I haven't tried to listen to voicemails from a landline though.

  • Incoming calls sound like chipmunk voice/ outgoing my voice is very deep

I am new to this forum in real need of help.  I guess this occured because my son played with my phone, but now about 90% of the time the incoming calls sound very high pitched (even the ringtone and voicemail messages) and when I answer the phone people think it is someone else (a man).  I have not been able to figure out how to fix it and when I called AT &T they could not help.  I do appreciate any advise on how to fix this without redoing all my settings (if possible).  Thanks in advance!

Another option could be trying to reinstall the device OS. Click here to know how to upgrade device OS.

  • Calls sound like a fax machine

My phone sounds like a fax machine for incoming and outgoing calls.  Help!

This is pretty bizarre, mandileigh. Does this occur in particular location? When did this begin?

  • Caller sounds like they are in a tunnel when receiving or making a call.  When using earphones I can hear great.

When placing or receiving a call with new iphone 5 using the earpiece on the phone, the person on the other end sounds very low, like in a tunnel.  Volume is as high as it will go.  Earbuds work great but I can't always use them, I need to be able to do a NORMAL call without earbuds.

Update - made an appointment at Genius bar today (chadstone, Victoria, Australia).
Genius examined phone, replicated the issue and identified a malfunctioning main microphone. He noted that the reason I could still talk to the other party when I activated the 'speakerphone' function is that the speakerphone has a (second) noise cancelling microphone/speaker at the top of the handset. He replaced the phone under warranty, and offered to help me to set up the new phone. In and out in less than 15 minutes, with new phone operational.
Very knowledgable, very polite and just great service.. Thank you Apple team at Chadstone.

  • All my iTunes sound like underwater after 10.5 update

how do i resolve this sound quality issue?

Same problem for me:  Windows 7 64-bit, problem arose with iTunes update to version 10.5.0.142 to Itunes 64-bit.  Firewall authorization is fine.  Uninstalled and then reinstalled iTunes 10.5.0.142  64-bit.  Flushed DNS setting.  Music library works fine.  Apps update download work fine.  Can access my Itunes Store account.  But cannot access iTunes Store to shop.  Exchanged email with iTunes Store Support, they are zero help, just refer me to boilerplate instructions to check firewall and flush DNS.  Apple iTunes Support is just awful, they don't take responsibility for issues like this.

  • Iphone4: calls sound like i am listening in on a tin can

When I make a call, holding the phone correctly and with the rubber bumpers, it seems as though I am listening in on a tin can. The other person can hear me clearly and I adjusted the volume but still no change.
    Anyone else experiencing this?

I am also having this problem and am not sure how to resolve the issue. Not being able to hear in a conversation eradicates the conversation itself.

  • Sounds like I am underwater on calls (iphone4)

Hi, Can anyone help me please- this is driving me mad now!
When I am on a call my phone is more and more frequently making a sound which sounds like crackling / bubbling underwater and I can't hear the person at the other end at all and have to hang up and recall. (they can't hear me either)
The call connects OK and it is after a short while that I have the problem.
I have tried resetting my phone, but nothing seems to be working... I need to have the 3G/wi-fi on at all times as it is a work phone and I have to have cobstant access to my e-mails. Not sure if this could be causing the problem?
I have only had my phone about 7 months (from O2) is it still covered by any sort of warrenty if the problem can't be fixed? (I don't have specific phone insurance, only through my house insurance)
Would really appreciate any ideas.... Thanks

Me too. i'm with O2 also and I've had my phone replaced 3 times, followed all the advice provided by Apple and I still get this issue. Set up as a new phone, NOT restored from backup, changed simcards and not installed apps but it still occurs.
No one seems to be able to provide an answer and this is getting to be more than just an annoyance now. Happens everyday....regardless of whether i'm calling a landline or mobile and from all over the country.
I'm hoping that someone from Apple can provide some answers as i'm starting to lose faith in my iPhone4.
It doesnt make sense to keep replacing the handset...i've been through 4 handsets now and not a single one of them has been mishandled or dropped.
Anyone got any solutions or answers to this problem? Good to know that i'm not the only one!!

  • Issue with recorded sound- sounds like the recordings were made underwater.

    Hi, all.
I'm running Adobe Audition CS5.5 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-1UZ with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. My machine meets all of the system requirements, as far as I can tell, and yet recordings made in Adobe Audition sound like they were made underwater.
    For reference:
    http://www.soundclick.com/player/single_player.cfm?q=hi&songID=11138745
I'm not using an interface at present, but would be willing if there were a cheap model available.
    Thanks for any help,
    Casey

I have a slightly older Toshiba Satellite notebook that I use for recording and mixing and I can tell you that the built in audio interface (i.e. the mni jack mic input) is worse than bad.  I can get away with it for Skype phone calls but that's about it--and even for Skype I often plug in my interface.
The other thing going on with the sample you posted is that the levels are very low so the need to crank things up to hear anything just accentuates the noise.
Basically, Audition just takes the signal provided by your mic and interface and doesn't affect the sound in any way until you deliberately add processing.  You really do need to invest in an interface--pretty well any two track USB devices will be a vast improvement on the Toshiba mic input.

  • Emailed File of Voice-over sounds Like it's Underwater

    Hi,
My wife just began a voice over career and just got her first gig. She recorded files over GarageBand and emailed them to the client. When we listen to them on her system, they sound great. But after e-mailing, she sounds like she's underwater or muzzled.
Is there a compression setting that we're missing? Hoping someone has some experience with this.
    Thanks so much.
    P Smith

A digital audio file shouldn't change just because you emailed it. Could be the other parties computer settings or player. You should ask them what format and settings they want the file in.
Also instead of emailing files you may want to think about another way of sending audio files. Maybe a ftp server so your clients can download them from the net and files size won't start to become a issue.

    Hi Samcat,
You can use a download instead of the disk as an alternative: Adobe - Download free trial version Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 | Adobe you can license with your serial
Please test the disk in another windows machine to check if it's caused by the drive or the disk. If you tested with 2 drives please start a support case, i assume Adobe will only provide downloads at this point. They are the same as the trials. If you still need a disk you can burn the trial to a disk as a backup disk. Good luck!

No, but when the other party hangs up first I have heard the click of the disconnect.
