3 way video conferencing with FaceTime?

Is it possible between Mac and two IPads?

Hi
"i guess that the aim with pc wont work out..."
It's been some time since I was last on here so not sure whether advice will work, Ralph Johns has a good website on getting a Mac to video talk to a PC using AIM/iChat. Whether it can do a 3-way is another matter, person with PC could have a look at http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page12.html & see if it helps. I have Skype but haven't tried any video calls with it yet so don't know if it can 3-way.

  • Two-way video chat with other (audio-only) participants?

Is it possible to have a five-way chat in iChat with
. - myself and one other participant via video, and
. - three other participants via audio only?
I know there's an option for one-way video conferencing, where only one person in a conference has video and the other(s?) have audio, but what about two with video and the others with audio?
And if we did this, could the three audio participants see the two video participants even if the three don't participate via video?

    Hi,
You can start A One Way Video chat with a Buddy without a Camera.
You can add others up to the standard 4 people (you and three others) and some can be audio Only.
You do have to have a Mac of a G4/1Ghz dual or above and have a Upload speed of 256 k at the very Least (Apple Specs say 384k) although more is preferable when you are Host.
Ideally the Host should be the fastest Mac with the fastest connection.
Invite Camera able Buddies first then Audio Only Buddies by clicking on the green A/V icon they are showing in the Buddy list.

  • One Way Video Chat with an AIM user

Hey......im wondering if there is a way to one way video chat with AIM users........(using aol instant messenger)ive tried a few times, but it says "data not recieved for 10 seconds" and the one way video chat stops....im wondering if this can be fixed?

    Hi Bruce,
    This is possible.
It seems though, that for some that they come across the problem you describe.
I do not have any definite answers but I don't get the problem but I have run the "Tuning" on the PC end even though it does not have a camera or Mic.
I am not sure if this is the Fix or just coincidence.
The problem was more common at iChat 3.0 and 3.0.1 and is related to the amount of data that iChat percives it is getting. Strangely t was by sending files we found out what the problem was/is.
When files are sent the Video is paused whilst this happens. In the conenction Doctor you can see a Mac to MAc chat drop to a Bitrate of 24kbps. In A Mac to PC the bitrate does not stop at 24kbps and continues down to 0 (Zero). When this is 10 sec old then the chat is eneded with the error message.
If you have not already try updating to 10.4.3 as this was supposed to adress the problem.
    Ralph

  • One-Way Video Chat with Windows User

Hi - I have tried several times to begin a one-way video chat with someone using windows XP and AOL 9.0 (I have an iSight and iChat 4.0). She says that it says "connecting" for a long time but nothing happens. I came across the following website yesterday but have not tried any of its tips yet because of their complexity: http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/page12.html#_Service
I was wondering if it is possible to have a one-way video chat with a windows user if they don't have a camera or a microphone. If not, is it possible to have a one-way audio chat?
    Sam

I think your PC pal will need a microphone for one-way video to work, Sam.

  • Secure Video conferencing with the ability to record

    Hi,
I am looking for a flash based secure video conferencing app which has the ability to record conferences.
I need it to enable a series of helpdesk type sessions and would prefer to use Flash so that the users do not have long set-up times.
Does anyone know of any off the shelf or open source apps that are out there?
    Thanks

Well and If you look at any thing by blackberry you can see that it does not match up on its features versus the iPhone. iPhone users and those of us who use it for it's amazing abilities aren't caught up on the fact that it lacks video, or picture messaging. There are other things that are more important to worry about with this phone. Play around with it and you can see that this is a very powerful tool. I switched to AT&T just to get the iPhone. Blackberry's phones have nothing on the iPhone, the way i look at it is the iPhone can only blow your mind away in the next model and until then get used to it's functions. I'd rather know how to use it at it's "simple" state as opposed to it high tech overly advanced possibilities.

  • Video conferencing with Windows users with the new iMac.

This may be a worn out topic, but I am trying to talk to family in Canada via my new Intel iMac. My family has MSN Messenger and after attempting to use that I quickly found that it isn't compatible.
Please tell me there is some way to utilize my video conferencing capabilities to stay in contact with all my unfortunate Windows using relatives.
Please take into consideration that I am new to the Mac world. I've had this computer now for 2 weeks, though I'm learning quick.
    Thanks in advance,

You could wait for Microsoft to update the Mac version of Messenger (haha!) but you should probably try using a third party client.
aMSN has support for video and voice using any camera that is supported by QuickTime, http://amsn.sourceforge.net/
Adium is a good general chat client. It doesn't support video or voice but it probably will one day (and it almost certainly will before the official MSN client), http://adiumx.com/

  • One-way video chat with iSight on Mac to PC via AIM

I recently bought an iSight camera for my powerbook G4. I am having trouble getting a video chat connected to my friend who is using AIM 5.5 on his PC. I am using AIM 4.7 for macintosh. Are there any tips on getting a one way video chat started?? he doesn not have a webcam

    Hello Ivy,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Your PC pal should upgrade to the current AIM 5.9. If fixes some of 5.5's problems.
AIM for Mac has no video (or audio) capability). More info in the MSN, Yahoo, Win Messengers & iChat? FAQ.
See Using iSight with iChat AV for info on how to use your iSight for video chat.
Then, see Mac Video Chat with PCs for info on making video connections with PCs.
For more information on one-way video, search your Mac's
    b iChat > Help > iChat Help
for "one-way video" (without the quotation marks).
The requirements for one-way video are the same as for two-way video except for one camera.
One-way video between an iSight-equipped Mac and a correctly configured PC is possible for most users. However, some users report that they can just NEVER get it to work. We do not know why that is. Adding any compatible USB webcam to the PC system (and "tuning" correctly after the addition) should let you make video connections if you are one who cannot make it work without a camera.

  • Video Conferencing with IOS Homogeneous Video Conference Bridge

    Dears,
    I have CUCM 8.6 and 3945 Cisco router with 2 x PVDM-256
I configured the IOS Homogeneous Video Conference Bridge. and I did the required configurations in the router. and I can see the conferencing bridge is registered.
I put the conference bridge in the existing MRG and MRGL. But I am not able to do video conferencing. I can get only the audio.
is there any thing missing ? any reolad should I do ?

    Sure.
So on the gateway that you have the video conference configured, in which we have guranteed voice as the configuration, you will also add in an MTP profile.  The MTP profile will be configured as software and have the appropriate codec configured that you may be using because of your regions.  We have g722-64 and passthrough on one because we saw the E20's requesting MTP resources from the logs.
We also have additional MTP profiles configured for other codecs to include G729r8, etc.
    Register the codecs to CUCM.
It depends on what you are trying to accomplish but we were shooting for w448p thus made sure that the "Region" for the device pool associated with the Media Resource Group for each MTP was set to 1MB for the video bandwidth.
I hope this makes since if not I will try to pull down a config for you

  • Video Conferencing with AIM PC users

If a PC user has an AIM account, does this mean that I can video chat with them?

    HI Randy,
What If Your Girlfriend Lives A Long Way Away ?
This page deals with links to The Tuning instructions for AIM 5.5 and 5.9
It also detaisl how to Enable the AIM application through the XP Service Pack 2 Firewall. Trillian Come s in two versions which also need to be enabled through the XP firewall
Trillian's Basic version can Audio chat to iChat that AIM can not. The Pro version cost $25 to be able to Video but the pic is bigger (than AIM)to start with and is adjustable up to Full Screen.

  • Can't start One-Way Video Chat with some Buddies

I have a MacBook running the latest version of iChat AV 3 (3.1.5 v440).
I just held a video chat with my father. He's also using the latest version of iChat.
Quitting that video chat, I also wanted to video chat with my mother in law. She's also running the latest version of iChat (on her non-intel mac: 3.1.5 v436). However, in my Buddy list, she shows up with a greyed out icon for the multi-chat. My audio and video chat buttons disable when I select her. There is no "Invite to One-Way Video Chat" menu.
We have both restarted our computers. We're both listed as Buddies of the other. No luck. My father shows in the buddy list as available for video chat, my mother in law does not.
I've previously been able to video iChat with her. What's going on?

5 minutes after posting, my wife noticed that one of the other computers in the house (with a different .Mac account on it) was 'ringing'. Apparently my mother-in-law had left an open audio chat invitation to another account, and that was preventing a new chat from starting. Sorry for the noise, hopefully this answer helps someone else.

  • Using the iChat video conferencing with a PC user

I have been trying to use the iChat AV with a PC user who is on AIM. Is this not possible? Even a one-way chat?

Unfortunately this is the only way I use iChat... I can't convince my relatives to make the apple jump. It will not work one-way, only if both sides have video. When it does work it works ok, but the windows side generally has all kinds of configuration issues (like personal firewall problems). It also isn't that great of an experience on the windows side, but that is just my opinion after using hte mac side.
There are some really good folks in the ichat forum with a LOT of great information on how to get this working correctly. But for the most part the problem is going to be on the other (pc) end. The one other person I do video chat with is a mac user in New Zealand and I am in the US - when we connect I never have a problem...
    Good luck!

  • Can I do a 3 way video chat with two iMac users and 1 PC user?

    Hi,
I'm due to have a video conference in a few days and I suddenly realized that one of us has a PC and two of us have iMacs. If the PC user were to get AIM, would it be possible for her to communicate with the two of us and can the two of us communicate with and see her? We live in 3 separate areas so we will be using three separate computers. If it is possible to do this, what do we all need to do? Also, I have iChat 5.0 and the other iMac user has whatever came with Tiger. I have done three way video conferences before without a problem but we've all had iChat. Thanks in advance.
    Judy

    Hi
Wont work with a PC in a 3 way in iChat.
Have a look at TokBox http://www.tokbox.com/view/about
    And browser based MeBeam http://www.mebeam.com/
